Sword Saint: Swordsmanship maxes out, and become able to draw Raid, the Dragon Sword.
Arrow avoidance: he cannot be hit by projectiles. (this is why sword that Elsa threw went around him on its own).
Arrow guarantee: any projectile he uses is guaranteed to hit the target.
Magic resistance: No curses, debuffs, or buffs can affect him.
Fire avoidance: 80% reduction from fire damage.
Wind absorption: 80% of wind magic is absorbed.
Earth resistance: Earth magic have 80% reduced effect on him.
Water reflection: 80% water magic is reflected.
Darkness immunity: 80% of darkness magic is nullified.
Light sharing: 80% light magic is shared to another target.
Swiftness: He can move at superhuman speed. This affects mounts as well.
Riding mastery: He can ride any animals.
Initiative: He cannot be ambushed, and all initial attacks from Reinhardt connects.
First attack immunity: The first time an attack is performed at Reinhardt, it always misses.
Preceeding attack immunity: The second attack and all following attacks misses him.

Arc 5/6 are Gruesome, even by Re: Zero standards. Seeing the changes to outfits and art style, I wonder how much will be censored. I think everyone wants to see a certain satisfying death in Arc 5 in FULL detail.

Isekai Quartet listed all his abilities. It was literally a wall of text for several seconds. He would curb-stomp basically almost any other anime char, maybe even several gods. If you havent see Quartet, go find where they list all his known abilties. Its funny

Reinhard's cheat ability is to generate new cheat abilities on the spot. If I recall correctly, the list provided in Quartet wasn't even the full list. And that full list that exists doesn't even cover all the cheats he has, or has been generating as time has gone on. Unless the opponent is a very powerful reality warper or a straight up god Reinhard is going to solo them.

I wish I didn't knew about the censorship. I don't mind the current design but the fact that the original design was changed bums me out and makes me worry what else will be censored.
Give them an inch, they'll take a mile. This is why I don't approve of censorship no matter how depraved it is. This is what wokeness is. It's slowly infecting Japan now.
Maybe it's just me but I don't see why the character who looks like a minor shouldn't be censored. It's pretty weird and doesn't really belong in a mainstream popular anime.

Censorship is a slippery slope. if we're okay with it only when we agree with it, it sets precedent and power for when we don't agree with it. Kids absolutely shouldn't be watching this series let's be honest here. So there shouldn't be any censorship to begin with.
But the problem is that makes sense, and we can't have that. Why do you think Mushoku Tensei was so censored in some scenes? That's also another show not meant to be watched by kids, but there was censorship anyway. Same for Hell's Paradise and lots of other such shows.

About the censored part:
My theory is that they lost the timeslot of midnight they had to broadcast the show, so they needed to tone down some of the fanservice, and/or they plan to show it all on the BD when it launch, but to be sure we need to wait for the author to say something.
It's sad that they did it, but sadly it was expected tho, at least it doesn't look as that bad, all things considered.
My fear is: will they also censor the gore tho???
I mean getting rid of a questionable design doesn't equal gore fan service gets whittled down between web to light to anime witch is a good thing and probably intentional by tapie because fan service doesn't fit re zero

@Ricardo_Rick fair enough ya but I think to be fearfull that they tone it down by comparison to the other 2 seasons maybe this season will be 10x more gorey then previous arcs. Iv only read through volume 15 but gore is a big part of re zero and equating toneing down sexualized designs of younger characters in a story that mostly avoids fan service to gore I think is a bit of a jump

I am hyped for it but also bit worried. With Sweet baby inc & yellow paint in gaming, small censorship still is censorship & makes me worried. Heck, knowing how much MT was censored in some scenes for west was already disturbing for me, cuz they didnt put tbe distributing scene.
Edit: Hyped for the blue haird character as well, but given how similar it looks to Ram I think it might br her under some different lighting or under some condition. Unless she has a secret twin sister we didn't know about or that wasnt mentioned which is ridiculous and I honest would want to know why we didn't get anything to even hint about her. Weird but exciting.

It's sad to see censorship whatever the reason when it happens to art.
It doesn't matter if you don't like the character or media it happens to, it's still censorship and changes that are not what the original creators wanted.
I'm sure the reason is obvious in this case; these studios are desperate for that wider audience appeal and to avoid Twitter controversy. I'm sure Japan themselves were never mad about their original designs. The censorship is only to cater to the westerners.
@@rickchakraborty2087 In this case people did some digging and it looks like rezero censored itself in order to get a better timeslot on TV. The older seasons used to air on a cable network late at night, which is why they got away with showing so much gore and fanservice, but this new season will be airing on a "family friendly" channel early in the evening. That means not only are the lolis censored, but it is extremely likely the rest of the fanserivce will be censored or removed and the blood/gore/violence will be censored or removed. It's really really bleak
@@lordlubu3029 welp, that sucks. Censorship of any kind is never good, doesn't matter whether it's gore or fanservice. Did they really just completely fail to get a late night timeslot for this season? Because a part of me feels like they did this intentionally so that more people could watch the show with that timeslot (including kids), even if that meant censoring it.
@@rickchakraborty2087 From what I understand, despite it's popularity, ReZero S1 and S2 were not very profitable which is why it took so long to get a S2 and S3. So they are intentionally censoring it to get a more family friendly timeslot and market it to younger kids a bit more. Which sucks because if thats the case they will probably cut a lot of the more gore-y stuff on top of the fanservice.
On the bright side White Fox has a history of making the blu rays for ReZero completely uncensored and much more bloody and heavy on fanservice. So even if the TV version is censored the Blu Rays likely wont be
@@lordlubu3029 aside from the profits, from what ik the real reason S3 took so much time for Kadokawa to announce was because White Fox were having troubles with their lack of staff members. If they were to make a S3 sooner, it would have to go to a completely different studio.
Also, considering how unreliable blurays for anime have become nowadays, I won't necessarily get my hopes up for the blurays. I still remember last year when people were so excited for Goddess Cafe Terrace BDs to come out, only for them to have changed absolutely nothing and the steam and light beams censorship were still present.

It's weird because the show is definitely not for kids and skimpy clothing is the less important reason for that... literally Subaru suffers a lot in almost every way possible, he dies a lot, a few times due to literally unaliving himself, and there's a lot of blood and violence. Remember that scene of Rem's body bending in weird angles for example ? Yeah, if anyone has seen Re:Zero and thinks "this is so great, I'm gonna show it to my child" they are definitely sick in the head. I'm not even showing it to my adult mom smh.
That being said me and my little brother (both in our 20' lol) are 100% gonna watch s3 and if it is as good as the previous ones we are gonna have a great time 🤩

I'm a simple man. I see ears shaded and I'm happy with the animation. But seriously tho the action sequences are smooth af and I love the clear dedication they gave to the sin archbishops. Regulus has never looked this good in season 2, Lye is a terrifying goblin f*ck, and let's not even talk about Sirius and Capella because I think they really nailed it and I could talk about it for hours.
Reinhardt’s divine protection where his projectile attacks will “always hit” acts similarly to a domain expansion’s sure hit in JJK. Meaning, he can bypass Gojo’s infinity. But at the same time, Gojo can regenerate extremely fast meaning it’ll be hard for reinhardt to finish off Gojo properly. Gojo also has his own domain expansion, and his mind-numbing ability inside of it which would completely stun-lock reinhardt. Domain expansions also cancel out sure-hit effects, meaning Reinhardt wouldn’t be able to bypass infinity and hit Gojo during the ability. The domain expansion would also allow Gojo to actually bypass Reinhardt’s projectile evasion divine protection, and hit him with a Hollow Purple which would obliterate Reinhardt’s body. Gojo could kill Reinhardt this way.
That is of course, only kill, not end the battle. SPOILERS FOR RE ZERO SEASON 3 (ABOUT REINHARDT’s POWERS). Reinhardt basically has the power to revive himself infinitely meaning each time he dies he’ll just stand back up. That leaves the argument of Gojo erasing Reinhardt’s body before he can ever get up, but the thing is, Reinhardt has literal plot armor. Od laguna, the source of all mana, would definitely not let Reinhardt die, and make some stupid divine protection that allows him to reconstruct his body after erasure. But, still, it would be an incredibly tough fight for Reinhardt, and by tough I mean by Reinhardt’s normal standards, and eventually Reinhardt would pull out the dragon sword Reid, being the last thing Gojo will see before death.
This is coming from someone who loves JJK but also Re Zero, so hopefully its free of bias. I just cant see anyway Gojo can win this.
considering that Reinhard is already capable of cutting space, I don't think he needs divine protections against Gojo, a space cut was basically what Sukuna used to cross infinity.

@@alexamen946 I think at the very least Reinhardt would have to take out Reid, considering Reinhardt's space cutting slashes weren't able to completely take out Elsa, and gojo's regeneration+durability definitely outmatches her's.

@@alexamen946Yeah, that's a good point. RCT would be useless. Though, I still like to think the dragon sword Reid would deem Gojo a worthy opponent, and that Reinhardt would be the type of guy to sheathe it willingly. But, yes, Reinhardt can probably kill Gojo relatively quickly, even without Reid.

Kills my interest in the anime knowing they censored friken LUST's design. Kinda makes the character pointless when their whole aspect is a toned down censored sanitized version. It's like having a character called murder monster that gets rewritten to only bonk people into being unconscious.
It's just what happens when the western prudes start influencing anime. And that fact that Japan is actually giving in to censorship to cater to the normies is what's even more upsetting.

As far as censorship goes, I think this is good censorship. They don't need to sexualize youthful characters. If they want to sexualize characters, sexualize the ones who look more mature. Putting characters who look underage in skimpy outfits is weird.
The Watergate City of Priestella is my favorite arc of the series (so far, I'm just about to start LN 23) and I can hardly wait to see it animated.
It should be noted that Tappei actually said somewhere that Ainz would win against Reinhardt in a war in the sense that he could destroy Reinhardt as a hero without actually being stronger than him in battle. After all the point of Reinhardt’s character was that being “the strongest” doesn’t solve all problems and a character like that can still have weaknesses. This was also shown in the Pride If where Subaru kind of won against Reinhardt as well.
Won is questionable, Reinhard still killed Subaru, he will kill Ainz too.
It was walked back on a few days after, actually. I can't remember if it was the author who said it or the actual translator but someone in that interview made a misunderstanding. Either in the translation or in the dialogue. I don't remember. There was a post online that compared both Reinhard and Ainz abilities and feats of strength and found that Reinhard would just blow away Ainz no matter what the authors say anyway. As you know, Reinhard is a cheat engine. Any ridiculous power he wants or needs to win will just be granted to him. His known list of divine protections are just a small sample of all the ones he actually has and continues to accumulate over time. Realistically, Ainz would never have a chance no matter what Tappei says.

Reinhard isn’t that strong outside the context of re zero. He’s barely as strong as the black scripture captain or an evil lord (city level and massively hypersonic) and is weaker than Zesshi.
Realistically, if you knew powerscaling and how it actually worked, you’d know that your standing in your own weak series means nothing in others. To compete in cross verse debates, you need actual feats. I guess you’re so dumb you think Aqua can beat Ainz too when she’d get clapped out of existence by even the likes of Climb. Or did you happily forget Volcanica, her just being some really strong and really fast dragon, can beat him outright if he doesn’t draw Reid?
While a floor guardian level opponent isn’t an insurmountable challenge for Reinhard, it’s high extreme difficulty at best.

There is so much nuance to how stuff works in Re:Zero, specifically Divine Blessings and Authorities that ther eis no point in comparing it to a more defined and solid system like in Overlord where powers have a specific ranking. Reinhard can absolutely beat Ainz, and there is no way for him to beat Reinhard. It's sımply a matter of exaggeration. Skill and power compliment each other. We know a good bunch of characters can mess up Reinhard really bad. Ainz would be another opponent that would mess up Reinhard badly before he eventually gets defeated.

The fact is a lot of people don't like seeing characters who look like minors sexualized and that seems pretty reasonable. Re zero is a mainstream anime. It is made for mass consumption not the more niche manga audience.

A little correction. Reinhardt crushes Ainz 1v1 no questions asked, BUT not with preptime. With preptime of realising how stiupid OP he is + hiding in the deepest lvls of Nazarick its a stalemate...soooo TECHNICLY Ainz wins, cuz at the end of a day Reinhardt is mortal and will die from old age. (Long story short it was confitmed by both aurhors that with sending ALL of Nazarick auto-respawning mobs in correctly sized waves at him the first wave will respawn before last one will be destroyed making it infinite loop)
He doesn’t crush Ainz or any floor guardian though. He’s weaker and slower than they are, just not insurmountably so considering he’s City level while they are mountain level.

Anime only but I've got 2 thoughts on the 'censorship' mainly coming from the views of someone who does art and animation.
1. Way better designs imo in terms of colour balance, blocking, and appeal.
2. Omg that'll make 'em much easier to animate, something very important in an action heavy season everyone keeps saying this'll be.
People can argue with point one, I get its a taste thing, but at the very least in my design sense they look much better without giving up much if anything in what those designs communicate (I've seen the points on the one girl whos supposed to be revealing and I'll get to that).
I agree the pigtails girl would look nicer with the sheer fabric, but axing that for non-sheer makes perfect sense from an animation perspective: that stuff can be a nightmare! And regular fabric can help you hide more esp on a turn that can save so much time and headaches.
Both clearly got the bikini tops turned into much more manageable rectangle tops for ease of animation. You know what's hard to animate on a turn? two tiny triangles curved over spheres all precisely connected with string kept on tension. You know what's super easy to animate on a turn? A rectangle of colour with only 2 shadows to track and occasional added detail for form.
From there design tweaks are obvious (to me at least).
Pigtails needs more brown at the bottom to even out the added brown at the top to keep it feeling balanced. Not just with itself but with the design as a whole which imo benefits from adding more of the 3rd primary design colour, which was barely present in the original and felt a bit out of place. Adding the same amount makes 'em feel too same-y, so adding enough to make longer shorts creates a nice balance and again makes it easier to draw. Shorts are easier to simplify than a thong, at least to me, and cuts down on potential tangent lines with that overlay pant thing she's got going on.
For the girl whos supposed to be revealing they clearly went about the redesign trying to keep it sexy but manageable animation wise (and frankly imo the bikini top wasn't doing her nearly as many favors look wise as the crop does- I do genuinely think she's hotter with the crop being much more flattering to her chest). Throw in a boob window that's good for both a nice animation tracking point on turns to help with form and for added skin, and make that shit so skin tight she may as well not be wearing anything, and I think its great! tbh my only complaint is the bottom of the boob window should be extended to the bottom of the top (or the top should be pinched up to meet it) and the upper parts by the shoulders should be tapered inward more toward the neck; creating more of a subtle reverse heart look that'd be more on theme and a little more flattering.
Also again more to my design sense, but I much prefer the block of purple there rather than only a touch of it in the original, it helps anchor the purple thong we see and purple detailing in a way I find much more appealing with the added weight the extra colour brings. And clearly covering a touch more skin isn't that much of an issue tradeoff wise, if her legs and arms are already nearly 100% covered for a nicer look colour blocking wise.
Did censorship play a role? Ya most definitely. My tweaks to revealing girl not being taken or anything more in that vein show that clearly. And its not like other characters aren't nightmares already (looking at you bandage lady and Pricilla's dress). But those are unavoidable nightmares as they seem to be staple to the designs from a narrative standpoint (revealing girl also seems to have this from whatever those detailed orbs by her butt are) or because they were already committed to in previous seasons. So I've no issue with them making tweaks to make their lives a little easier here and there esp when it leaves us with, again imo, better overall designs.
I just wanted to put this out there 'cause I don't think people are giving enough credit to why these designs would be changed on a purely design and animation front.
To be clear I am NOT trying to underplay the censorship that was clearly apart of and possible driver in these decisions, more so that some of the parts being decried as censorship have other motives behind them (at least in part or entirely in some cases) worth considering.

It's really nice to hear an analysis of the changes from someone with art and animation knowledge, I learned a lot, thanks! And while I am anti-censorship, putting aside the censorship angle, I actually do agree the design for Capella looks better (I always thought the bikini top was trying too hard) sometimes adding more clothing can make a look even sexier which works here. I prefer Liliana's original design because I think the bikini fits her "belly dancer" style look more-so than spats and a sports bra. But it isn't so egregious that it ruins the design or anything. Either way thanks for the perspective!

I'm really happy that they announced the date of the anime, and I also think that the graphics are great, but the only thing that would really make me angry is if they only show 25 or 30 episodes. I really hope it will be 50 episodes. I know it's a lot, but this is because I waited more than two or three years, but If they made it into two parts, meaning 25 episodes of arc 5 and 25 episodes of arc 6, this would be better, but the most important thing is that the anime will be released, and I am really very excited about this.
One thing i want to note is the change in lusts design might just be a thing to making animating her easier for fight sceans
I just hope S3 rekindles the passion I had for Re:Zero when S1 aired. It legitimately was my favorite anime of all time back then.
S2 ruined it for me somewhat in the second half with the bad animation and sometimes boring story.

I think it's not fair to be like "this censorship makes sense, but this other not" In the end it affects the complete view of the artist/writers. Liliana even though she is a secondary character she is properly dressed like the trope she is.
So they could have given her a normal bikini and I could have understood it, but changing it to basically spats and sports bra is against the character design.
Also dunno why would they literally want to put this in the morning, RE zero has a lot of blood and painful moments feels WEIRD that an anime where you see a girl's bones being MANGLED SLOWLY IN FRONT OF YOU would put it at an early timeslot, unless they also toned down on everything else in the 3rd season which if you ask me it's also bad af.

Actually when the Isekai Quartet Movie was coming out the directors and authors were talking and they said that in a fight between Reinhard and Ainz, Reinhard would not be able to kill Ainz and is one of the few characters people like them have stated that Reinhard could not overcome. Now this is not saying Ainz could defeat him in a fight but simply that Reinhard can't beat him. Their words not mine 😅

I remember that, but it was walked back on a few days later. I can't remember if it was the author who said it or the actual translator but someone in that dialogue made a misunderstanding. There was a post online that compared both Reinhard and Ainz abilities and feats of strength and found that Reinhard would just blow away Ainz no matter what the authors say anyway.

man re:zero is my favorite show and for one thing im completely fine with the lack of fanservice. i dont need to see loli tits anyway, and it was a minimal yet sensible change in design for capella and liliana. doesnt harm their characters or the plot. capella's still a freak and liliana is still annoying (jk lol).
the one thing im worried about is if they censored the gore. the most lewd season 1 got was when subaru and roswaal bathed together, and in s2 it was when frederica transformed. however, the delivery of the story itself would be heavily harmed if the gore was limited at all. subaru was clearly looking sick in those few frames we saw of him getting strengled by sirius, so it seems that was captured properly, and that the gore may still be present.

Let's be honest here, they only censored the designs because of western sensitivities and to avoid Twitter controversy. I sometimes see people say Japan doesn't care about what the west thinks when it comes to anime, but it's certainly not true, they very much care about that wider audience appeal.

Nah, in her particular case it's more than just censorship. She's the Sin Archbishop of Lust. Her whole ideology on love is that it comes down to appearances, and physical attraction. Her personality is crass and trashy, and the bikini design was made to reflect how she views beauty as something that only matters on the outside; not the inside. I actually like the hotpants change they gave her. But they should have just kept with the actual design befitting her character.
