Noooo, subaru would've just lost the game. Subaru has infinite options as he can reset en expect infinite results. Echidna promised a "happy" ending. But does Subaru need a "happy" ending? No, he need to save not only Emilia, but someone else too, and it'll bring him through a path of pain for sure. Echidna would've toss that possibility of saving this someone else to the trash. Thus, Subaru is greedy, he stated he does not want the "best" of endings. He just wants one in which nobody of his friends die

This episode really got me thinking: the possibility of suburu leaving behind multiple realities and EVERYBODY missing/deteriorating without him goes to show how powerful Suburus influence was
he certainly has influence like a talent. just recovering Emilia insignia was quite a big deal, and not only that, for the same reason Felt got to participate in te election. Just think about it, because of him an seemingly impossible to kill assasin was repelled, saved the village from demon beasts, out of nowhere made contacts with all the choosen ones for the election, pretty much insulted the royal army in front of them and left in one piece (mostly because of Julius), made a connection almost instantly with Wilhem who isn't very sociable, because of him it was posible to locate and defeat the whale and hunted a witch cult inmmediately, and every challenge that he takes seems to be bigger than the previous one. He keeps saying that he is powerless but none of those achivements are easy task. Also in any of the If routes he ALWAYS manage to get a couple of the strongest warriors around to his side, my personal favorite being Halibel

Yea Subaru’s influence is big and makes sense. He is from another world so he has a different perspective plus return by death. I heard that if Subaru never was in that world, crusch and co. would have been decimated by the white whale.

You do not know that there was a shift in dimensions, nor did you feel anything, it was purely that the gun that was supposed to fire got jammed, or that the building you jumped from magically had a firefighter mat at the ground.
Hence, you never experience death besides an inevitable one in the quantum realm.

vapinglasagna well idk what it was but after he killed himself, after rem was forgotten, Subaru’s body was taken over by something similar to thing that Betelgeuse became before he died for good. So I think the truest unknowable present, as described in the WN, is Satella trimming the timelines where Subaru died and just RBD to point before he becomes stuck in a no win situation. Chapter 100 something arc 4 was long might take awhile to find if you want to fact check.
Just for argument sake, the timeline where puck froze everything then died to Reinhard and the one where he died after being possessed by Betelgeuse are showing the most likely future after he RBD, so we can’t for sure know if the world is trimmed by satella or if the one where he was possessed after his death is even related to her.
While Stella is powerful,I’m sure she got to have some sort of limits. In theory, restoring a world into its previous state should always be more efficient than creating a whole new one.
T C If all of Subaru’s deaths was in one timeline it would create a paradox where subaru lives and subaru dies, it just wouldn’t make sense. It would make more sense to have multiple timelines just like Steins;Gate. While you might say the world after the save point can just get erased, that’s just impossible according to the laws of entropy. Other than that, ever heard why timetravel to the past is impossible but timetravel to the future is possible? I forgot why, but you can search it up.

I think the reason why Beatrice's book stopped showing the future is because she is waiting for 'that person' who doesn't exist and Roswaal has a goal other than just waiting for someone that doesn't exist. So Beatrice's book showed the future with that person. She thought that person is someone special and not that she has to choose that person. The book showed her nothing because that was her future waiting. And I think if she does choose someone (out of her own will and not thinking of what Echidna says) the book will start showing her future again. That is my theory, what do you think.

The fourth give us a confrontation between pac and Reihardt with undertones of sadness.
I belive that it was a good choice to speed it up afterwards since nothing could be as horrible as what it came before and could run the risk of bevoming refundant and dragg the scene.
Speculation about the *spoiler* Puck line in the video:
Interstingly that line also implies Puck doesn’t know about *Subaru’s* Return by Death since he had already killed Subaru when he said that.
I think it implies that whoever wrote his first contract told him that if Emilia were to die, the only way to save her is to destroy the world to force a reset, or something along those lines.

It was Echidna herself that he had a contract with and created him. The details on why such conditions were set are unclear.

Not really. Puck wants to destroy the world after Emilia dies because spirits cannot end themselves. So puck wants to destroy the world because he doesn't wanna live in a world without her.

The lesson from Trial 2 is that Subaru's "crime" is treating his life as Valueless.
He learns that he touched the lives of everyone around him, and his continued survival despite being "useless" earns him great praise, and is the linchpin for EVERYTHING that happens
Makes you think. Imagine being so convinced that nobody cares about you or mourns your suffering, that you overpower the nature of the 2nd trial. Literally the "unknowable present" wasn't just the timelines past his death, but really the fact that people he's acquainted with are grieving for him, hence the multiple scenes in quick order. (I think Subaru even asks why is Emilia crying her eyes out in the WN.) It was a form of tough love, indeed.

After this tea party in the web novel the other witches implied Echidna deliberately amp up the Witch of Greed persona so that Subaru would not make a contract. Sure if he make that contract she will burn Subaru out for all his worth but if she really wanted that contract Subaru would not have been able to even doubt her intentions. Also in Echidna's backstory she became the Witch of Greed to save people but eventually forgot about her original goal. So that might be why people can still say she is best girl.
I remember hearing in a comment section of a re: zero video that in the reality where rem killed Subaru (not sure whether inside the mansion or outside) and after that Emilia left. is that true?
Yeah because what rem did was way too brutal for someone who had just saved Emilia and Emilia realized how messed up it was after rem lied to her face about why she killed Subaru.
Yeah, she was so mad at Rem and Roswal she left the mansion for good with Subaru's body. Basically renouncing her dream of being the queen

I haven't read the manga so I don't know if it has been confirmed yet as to whether or not Return by Death creates a new timeline, but personally I don't think it does. I don't think Satella would give Subaru RBD if it meant she couldn't be with him in one timeline.
The manga is way behind the anime
It's actually the light novel not the manga
Its not that it would create a new timeline but that he jumps worldines aka the branches of possibility.
For exmaple the same way Steins Gate timetravel works.
The infinite amount of choice you can make all create parallel realitys where you went left instead of right but also the possiblity of you going right instead of left exists out there.
The idear is that Satella just grabs Subarus soul goes to that branching timelien before the "other possibility can happen" and replaces "save point" Subaru with original Subaru.
Which would also imply that Satella does the same with herself or that her existence is "unique" and she quite literally dimension hopps along Subarus soul.
Which is not that far from reality as she literally transported Subaru beyond dimension when he first showed up in the fantasy world.
There are no confirmation on how it works yet. But we have some hints, like *spoiler*books of the dead, which in itself depending on how works death/somemisteriousbuildingfrom6ark/odd lagna/world itself

Tho overall it seems there are several time travel related things going on with Subaru & or Emilia.
After reading that wall of text, I must say, it was quite an eye opener of Echidna.
Echinda is like someone who is passing by a console arcade and saw someone play a game, fumbling all over to finish it, and decides to not just backseat but even try to take the controller.
This is just so she could find and complete all the easter eggs, items, unlockables, and side quests until finally achieving a 100% run in the most boring and tedious way possible.
Meanwhile the original player, Subaru, would become the viewer while still paying for the per hour rate for her like a simp.
Minerva is pretty much an acquantance who saw what's up and had to stop it.
Guess I don't need to explain which one is the shopkeeper who is being pinned for asking Subaru to pay his due despite no longer the one playing and is feeling angry at being blamed when she is just doing her job.

That’s not the Witch Of Envy by the way. Basically there’s like two identities, The Witch of Envy and Satella. The Witch of Envy is the significantly stronger and one willing to kill anything just to get to Subaru. While Satella is the weaker one and from what we saw less likely to kill.

more like Satella, have two personalities. One is Satella the friend of all witches (the good one) the other is witch of envy that kills all the witches (yandere girl). The one that gives subaru return by death (CMIIW) is Witch of envy.
I have a question how does the second trial go for a normal person without RBD? If Subaru's trials shows things after his death what "unknowable present" does the normal person see on the trial?

I assume that it's a trial where you see the consequences of past actions, hence an "unknowable present". Like if someone say hurt a loved one, they would probably have a vision of the worst possible future that person went through, blaming the test taker on the results.
A normal personal would just see what will happen if they make different life choices in certain points of time, that's why this trial was supposed to be easy w.r.t 1st trial for a normal person. However due to Subaru's RBD ability he became an exception and had to see through all of his death's. This happens because a normal person would only die one time in his life but Subaru is some another shit.

What AniNews left out was the fact that Trial 2 wasnt supposed to end up like that.
It was more of a review thing with a "Unknowable Present" where she would show up alongside the trial taker & talk about the "What IF scenario"
But she couldnt even meet Subaru because reality after reality formed itself constantly. So Subaru was stuck in a loop of "What IF Events" that shoulndt even be possible.
So Echidna had to force Trial 2 to stop & send the Witch of Lust in order to safe Subaru.
You go so in-depth into each chapter that it takes more than 20 minutes, and that is the reason that I consider this channel to be the best informative for re:zero. I can’t wait for next episodes missed content.

You know Subaru could've just added one extra condition to the contract that would've made it work fine. Just say that he'll only remember the time loops that gave him knowledge thst he absolutely needed to know and he simply wouldn't remember the thousands of other time loops.

Jeez, what a well made video. I might as well start watching your videos until the second half of season 2 comes back to fill the hole. Hell, maybe your videos will get me to just start reading the novels.
I feel like a genius whenever my train of thought follows with these videos to fill in the gaps from the novel, like I can understand the show through thick and thin.
But what about Zombie Suburu when his body gets possessed in one of the alternate realities?

what really confuses me is why does typoon and segment stop Minerva from healing Subaru when satella starts her ASMR rants like in episode 9? (referring to the preview for episode 13)
remember the tsunami that hit Japan while a radioactive plant exploded at the other side of country al that was like the same day? and the news about the massive explosion on Lebanon not too long ago? imagine a catastrophe like that for each time she cures an injury, that's exactly what happens when she use her powers

Typoon stopped minerva becuasethat was subaru's choice, and she wanted to protect it. Also why he bit off his tounge because of satella is because memories that werent his was flowing into his head and he didnt like it, also there was something about starting to idk love satella? I forgot, so he bit off his tounge to die and get rid of it. Sekmet helped typoon becayse sekmet is typoons mom so she is always on typoons side. I read it awhile ago, so i forgot what happened sort of.
