my favorite moment was easily when ferris said he had naughty intentions and everyone just fuckin paused.

What makes the scene so much more horrific is that even as someone watching the show, you initially don't notice anything amiss, when Subaru first begins speaking to the archbishop, in my mind I was thinking "Oh, he's playing a trick on her" never would I have imagined dude was already in her genjutsu.

yeah I don't know when it started, maybe it was just by knowing her existance or looking at her, but their eyes just became red later, so the manipulation was growing with the interaction I think

I didn't think he was tricking her. At most I thought he was being dense and denying his first perception of the situation, and preferred to cope with it as a joke like he said instead. But it already felt weird how he suddenly gets terrified at the mention of an archbishop of sin, but then starts acting like he didn't hear it. What had me confused, tho, was when it happened. What's the trigger. I was only sure it was mind control of sorts when everyone's eyes turned red

It's so messed up that the moment she "claps", you can feel that everyone changes moods. She just SAID she was a freaking sin archbishop, and yet, everyone is there... Not just listening, but ENJOYING the scene, having fun, feeling emotional and overwhelmed with joy.

The moment Subaru started acting friendly towards Sirius I got chills.
Im so glad they did the Sirius scene justice. When I first read that part in the novel it blew my mind. The introduction of Sirius is the best villain introduction I've ever seen imo. I was worried the anime wouldn't convey how weird and shocking this was and they fucking did it 👏👏👏
100% agree. I knew what was coming, but the buildup to both the reveal of the boy and when Sirius drops him was absolutely perfect. I was actually anxious for the characters in the scene.
Now that's how you start a season.
A full 90 minutes for the opening episode just to get to the first death. Insane. Absolutely Insane. I had gotten much too content there for a while and got utterly slapped in the face when the kid was wrapped up in chains. Only Re:Zero I swear...

For me, the moment I saw the words and heard Romanee Conti, I immediately went on detective mode to see and hear the neck breaking and unlimited "DESU" being dished out.
I literally felt 4 years younger watching this episode, the magic never left. We are so back baby!! Going into this cold was a crazy experience and the ending had my mouth hanging open like an idiot. Can't wait for more.

I really didn’t feel that magic with season 2, I enjoyed it but it wasn’t what I loved the most out of Re:Zero, but today I felt 8 years younger watching this episode, we are so fucking back

The way Subaru and Beatrice play off each other is adorable. When Otto is going to vomit, he picks her up so fast she doesn't even mind it. She's really lets Subaru be himself with her. Very wholesome content.
I did a double take at the end of the episode. I did NOT expect that to happen. Had me all buttered up with wholesome scenes and saranated me with stunning singing. The charectors sucked me in and the animation was solid. It was a wakeup call that this is re zero lmao

This episode takes me back. Seeing the ending made me remember seeing S1 Episode 15 for the first time. Crazy how ReZero is able to bring those feelings back so easily. Seriously a masterpiece. What a way to end an episode.

Oshi no Ko also had a 90 minute first episode, and that was really good too.(but it can't beat Re: Zero)

From the start to the finish of the episode, Oshi no Ko felt like a proper 3-act movie, revolving around Ai and her children, and building towards climax perfectly at the end. For the climax of this episode of Re:Zero, on the other hand, I felt like it came out of nowhere. There's no build-up whatsoever to the appearance of Sirius. She was just there at the top of the tower without any apparent reasons.
@@blackscrowI mean that’s kinda just how re zero is. It always starts with an unexpected and sudden death that breaks the calm. Also I guess you make a point with her suddenly being on the tower, but I guess most people wouldn’t really think about it

Yeah that's what I thought too. And personally, if we're talking about this episode and that episode of Oshi no Ko, I feel like the latter is better, because it felt like a proper one-shot movie, with an excellent build-up towards the end. Doesn't mean that the former is bad, though.
Re:zero is such a masterpiece. Last season cemented it in my top 5 anime and This season is bringing me joy
This episode already covered 20 chapters of the Arc 5 WN. It’s awesome watching the next season after you’ve read it in the WN or LN.
Needless to say, but I loved every minute of the episode.
Easily one of the best season openers I’ve seen in a long time. It’s truly magnificent and sets the stage masterfully for the main story to unfold. WhiteFox has done a wonderful job here, creating an introduction that grabs your attention and prepares you perfectly for the meat and potatoes of what’s to come. I can’t wait till next week! Just wow!

Anime only here this episode is unbelievably good at drawing suspense out and playing with your feelings. The whole time I was waiting for the moment when it would change gears and something horrible would happen, and when I realized that Subaru is already on the hook and as good as dead when the Sin of Wrath appears gave me the hardest chills. I’m sitting here after the episode wondering if Subaru went a whole year constantly trying to stave off the fear of knowing that death is coming for him, or if he repressed those thoughts based on how the episode ended. So fucking good glad I’m here for peak

It feels like they are way closer than friends or siblings, they act kinda like a couple sometimes and I think it's disrespectful towards emilia. I know subaru doesn't feel that way towards beatrice, but that's how it came off to me.

@@Tarvo27 I don't know about you man, but throughout both of their dynamics in the novel. I have NEVER ever depicted both of them as a couple or in a weird ahh diddly perspective. Their dynamics are implied to be and how the Author depicted it as a father/daughter or sibling dynamic, rather than a couple.
This is coming from me who's at arc 7 on re zero's light novel. But yeah, I don't think u should have that thought into perspective man 😭 beatrice x subaru is weird asf.

Demon Slayers' ep 1 "movie" mostly feels like a stretched/ poorly paced episode.(trying to cover up with good animation and flashy particle effect)
REZERO doesn't try to "milk" the franchise as hard as UFO does (well , given is not as popular as Demon Slayer, so they can't afford to milk the fanbase)
The 1.5 hrs includes all the major plot point of the story and zero padding.

I have learned and figured out that when something is a massive success to not trust my own opinion on things and consider my opinion only one of taste. There are blockbusters I don't like but I don't fool myself into thinking my opinion of why something is poor actually has any merit as I lack a Doctorate in connected fields or am top payed critic. There is success in money and success as piece of Art the later part of a field that has a vast knowledge base already developed so takes tons of study to know it well.
Milking refers to poorly received products that earn some money but only of interest normally to hard core fans not something that was a massive hit with people who might not even know what Anime is world wide.

Oh yeah, one thing I can't forge to stress: shotout fir Liliana's voice actress. She absolutely nailed it. Probably some will miss it with Sirius and Priscilla taking the spotlight this episode, but she was downright amazing. It put a smile on ny face with how she pulled off constabtly whiplashing back and forth from one mood to abother. What a hype character. I already like her energy a lot.
My son and I just sat there at the end for a few minutes and had to absorb it. I am so happy this is back.

Okay, I have to admit, I have to go back and rewatch Re-Zero from season 1. I remember bits and pieces, and at this point, I don't even know where the characters are coming from. The wait has definitely rusted my joy for this series, and I want to get it back.
That’s why for series I really enjoy, I read the source material. In the case of re zero, there are web novel chapters basically every week so I’ve been on the re zero train for years now.
You’re not alone. I started reading the web novel after season 2, and barely remembered who any of these people were. That said, you’ll come to know them all very well by the end of this season.

@@Seraphine726 Oh, same, I remember some of the big stuff like Roswall now being under some magical contract not to get in Subaru’s way, Emilia’s backstory roughly with Fortuna and Betelgeuse, Rem and Crusche being affected by the Whale/Gluttony by differing degrees, Beatrice being in a willing contract with Subaru, etc. But I did not rewatch it, anyways this 1st episode refreshed my memory with the big lines much enough. It just really sounded like you meant you skipped the show all the way to season 3, who does that? 😅
Definitely worth the wait. Now to wait till next week.

We all knew the world building and slice of life can only last so long....i feel very lucky to get am 1h30min episode. I was smiling the whole time hell one could say smiled more then cornelius and echidna combined. This seasons gonna get crazy
