That’s a really interesting comment. I’ve watched a lot of murder trials, and I have to say, it doesn’t matter _what_ the defendant does when photos of the body at the scene and during autopsy are being shown, people have very strong, negative emotions. For example, there are the murderers who look without flinching, as we’ve seen here (but remember that we don’t get to watch him all the time, so we really don’t know what he was doing for the rest of the time, which is significant). Then, when the defendant holds his face in his hands, people uniformly say, “The judge should MAKE him look at what he did!!” If the person cries and looks down, people say, “Oh, look at the crocodile tears, what a fake!!” I get that murderers are terrible, horrible people, but interpreting how they feel about what they did by the way they react to images of their victims isn’t something we can do very well....it’s like trying to figure out, as in this case, this boy could have cut his parents into pieces....it’s just inconceivable. It will take years, if ever to erase the memory of a headless torso being brought to & dumped on your farm. At least the murder didn’t occur there so no “haunting” likely to occur. The Halderson house is another thing altogether. Best bet is tear it down but that will be up to Mitchell, he never lived in that house so no childhood memories attached to it.
That...and 2 people were murdered by their youngest child, burned in their own fireplace, chopped up and thrown all over southern Wisconsin and found in bits and pieces. But yes. Her sanctuary.
Watching this trial is infuriating. To hear and see Dulce and Cress -so genuine and honest and awesome - it makes me sick to my stomach that this CRETIN Chandler could taint these fine people and contaminate their idyllic paradise with the human remains of his loving parents bodies is UNIMAGINABLE. God bless these two ladies.
Yes, just as an onlooker from CA, I'm forever affected by the senselessness of these crimes. I'm sickened and appalled, beyond angry at the utter senselessness and evil carried out by this monster!
It has to be a huge amount of work to dispose of 2 adult bodies. It seems to me that it would be a lot easier just to find a job, even in today's market...
It was just a single button press to pick up or drop a dead or unconscious body in his favorite video game. Unfortunately for him, this was his only source of research and planning…
I feel so sorry for the officer who found the torso, feels like he was and will be very affected by it forever. He found a person just like himself, dead and chopped up, how sad.
It's an unfortunate reality that LEO, firefighters and medics may come across every once in a while. Dead bodies are almost a common sight, but a torso without extremities is certainly a rare and gruesome thing to see even for us first responders. I had the missfortune to see one as well once after a person had been hit by a train and the coroner asked us to assist in finding all the body parts.
@@pamkay1756 Luckily those incidents with really gruesome injuries or deaths are really, really rare. To be totally honest, the more taxing part of the job is having to see all the misery and sorrow and suffering everywhere. We drag 14 year olds from drug dens, climb over tents in hallways to get to patients, have elderly calling just because they need to see somebody once in a month, encounter mentally ill patients over and over because nobody wants to care for them, treat beaten and burned children... the list goes on. Well, as a certified psychologist, I can tell you there had to have been a psychological break when he realized his parents were going to find out that he was a fraud, and that he’d been living a fake life. They were thinking he was doing really well and would be graduating, finding a job, and moving out, but he hadn’t done anything at all. I feel that there had to have been some kind of personality disorder going on for this boy to do what he’d done....covert narcissists can have hugely violent responses to being exposed as frauds, but since I’ll never be evaluating him, I have no idea what happened. It’s absolutely true that he felt he was responding the only way he could bc he couldn’t bear to have his parents get very emotional with him, yelling at him, kicking him out, telling his brother, their relatives and friends what a loser he was....whatever he had going on in his head, he felt it would last forever, but that’s bc he could yet project his mind into the future. Somehow it didn’t occur to him that DEATH is forever. Males don’t fully mature cognitively and emotionally until the age of 26 or even later, so this boy’s brain couldn’t yet allow him to fully understand the time-space continuum; he obviously couldn’t see that his lies and failures weren’t the end of the world....to him, it was. So, now his world is over; what he did to his parents is unforgivable, and now his brother is all alone, without his parents to guide him. I’m sorry to be so long, but I do have to say that in the world we now live in, I don’t even believe it’s safe for most middle class kids under the age of 25 to be living on their own. They’re so sheltered and naive, and constantly put their business on the Internet and can’t understand that the mere acquaintances they “friend” on Facebook and Instagram, not to mention the dating sites, can be sociopaths and psychopaths. My husband and I were very relaxed with our sons throughout their 20s bc they didn’t have a clue what they wanted to do....forcing them get out there and to make a choice wouldn’t have made that happen faster! It would only have increased their anxiety and ruined our relationships! And we found out later that their biggest anxiety was wasting our money as they went through the motions in university. They had to work, of course, and they’re incredibly grateful that we gave them the space they need to figure themselves out. I’m afraid many kids from middle class homes are really pressured hard to move on with their lives too fast after high school....some can take it, and others can’t.
Shame on Chandler for trying to set up Cress and Cat's mother for the murders. He is truly despicable in every way and no one who knows him would have been safe if he was not in prison.

@@ally8420 I hadn't thought of that but maybe it did cross his mind to try and frame her. It's just so difficult to go there in my mind, but yet I do, and yet I am. All I can say now is , I didn't know these people, and it's just bothering me tremendously, I can't even imagine, Mitchell, their other son, and their siblings and Bart's parents ( they are still here)....and Bart's brother, Brett was a witness, and you could see how truly this affected him. There was never much said regarding Krista's family members, I don't think her mom and dad are still living, but not certain. Just unsure if she has siblings, somewhere. I hope Chandler is so alone, and totally, disregarded in any family members that are left here, I only hope they put him completely out of their lives. Chandler deserves nothing, no money on his books, no communication, I hope they all just let him go, let him rot. Evil, is the only description , I can think of, maybe, Evil, Monster.
Had to comment to you...his (chandler) grandmother on his father's side wrote a letter to the court and asked that he not be sent away forever and he should have a second chance....made me ill, so unfortunately she will most likely be putting money in his books....that sucks!
I've tried to imagine how I'd feel if a guest on my land dumped a body in the woods, left the murder weapon in the barn, then jumped in the pool where I was topless. I can't!
Really telling is when looking at the pictures of the torso, the camera focuses on Chandler for a minute or two and he's fixated on the photos with no emotional response at seeing his father's body.
I heard them mention vultures in the opening statement and my immediate thought was “WHY WOULD YOU DISPOSE OF DEAD BODIES IN A RURAL AREA OF A COUNTRY AND STATE THAT HAS A RESIDENT VULTURE POPULATION!!??”
I am not sure if I agree with the objection that the defense made in regards to the detective stating that that is a wound consistent of a gun shot. Reason being that the detective has worked multiple cases in homicide and has seen enough to determine what he observes as an expert. Also, many detectives are required to take classes that present different types of wounds resulting from different types of weapons or methods used. I would say many detectives are actually expert in this regard. Yes, medical examiners due have the upper hand in recognizing these wounds in a higher detail than the detectives can due to their training.
Agree. The detective while looking at the photos and explaining. The deep breathing and clearing his throat... As Chandler sits motionless. Blows my mind!!! Mental...
The only appropriate sentence was life in prison (maybe death penalty)..not only the murder and attempted cover up but then to plead not guilty and put all of these kind people through a lengthy and traumatic trial...he truly never would have stopped and does not deserve an ounce of freedom.
there are very very very few things anyone could disagree with that prosecutor on...... but when he said "I think it would be a fair place to break for lunch"...after everyone just heard _that testimony_ about decomp, .. I laughed out loud
Judge Dorow could learn a thing or two from this judge. I agree that the optics are different regarding the defendants in both cases, but rules must be set in advance, so as to not turn it into a circus and re- victimizing the victims.
To those who create conspiracy theories about the SKS rifle's story, newsflash: sloppy police work is A thing. Existing, real. The rifle was behind some wooden boards, leaning toward the wall in the barn. Chances are, none of the cops bothered to look behind the boards. 'chaz' covered up the SKS with multiple layers of boards. During the search, the detectives just got fed up with the messy, dusty barn, and soon concluded 'ah there's nothing here" It was a huge mistake, but a human error. They aalways say "we did an extensive search at/in so-so place" in official statements. Obviously they wouldn't announce "yeah, we kinda snooped around in there, but 2 of us had to pee, and 3 of us were starving to death, so we left after 20 minutes of hanging out there." This PD did a great job and they seem to be more likeable than most cops in general, but they're no angels. Why would Cres "plant evidence" months later? It's an unfortunate reality that LEO, firefighters and medics may come across every once in a while. Dead bodies are almost a common sight, but a torso without extremities is certainly a rare and gruesome thing to see even for us first responders. I had the missfortune to see one as well once after a person had been hit by a train and the coroner asked us to assist in finding all the body parts.
@@QemeH I can't imagine what yall First Responders go through. You can never unsee what you see. Thank you for your Service.
@@pamkay1756 Luckily those incidents with really gruesome injuries or deaths are really, really rare. And so many wonderful friends and family having to live through this nightmare is just heartbreaking.. This will effect them forever.. : (
Well, as a certified psychologist, I can tell you there had to have been a psychological break when he realized his parents were going to find out that he was a fraud, and that he’d been living a fake life.
I bet they all wish that "Chaz" had actually been "smoking weed " behind the shed.
Shame on Chandler for trying to set up Cress and Cat's mother for the murders. He is truly despicable in every way and no one who knows him would have been safe if he was not in prison.

Either that or he wanted to hide the remains somewhere he could watch them
@@RachyBaby That's plausible. He also hid part of his mother's remains in a place he was familiar with and sometimes went to.
Chandler has eyes wide open and intently focused upon photos of his father’s torso. This dude is as psycho as they come.
I've tried to imagine how I'd feel if a guest on my land dumped a body in the woods, left the murder weapon in the barn, then jumped in the pool where I was topless. I can't!
Probably washing all the maggots off of himself into the pool
Really telling is when looking at the pictures of the torso, the camera focuses on Chandler for a minute or two and he's fixated on the photos with no emotional response at seeing his father's body.
The most crucial moment 20:22 was objected and sustained, but if it wasn't for that who knows how long the evidence would have stayed there
I heard them mention vultures in the opening statement and my immediate thought was “WHY WOULD YOU DISPOSE OF DEAD BODIES IN A RURAL AREA OF A COUNTRY AND STATE THAT HAS A RESIDENT VULTURE POPULATION!!??”
Saw the torso on live… an “innocent” son wouldn’t just sit there calmly.

During the search, the detectives just got fed up with the messy, dusty barn, and soon concluded 'ah there's nothing here"
It was a huge mistake, but a human error.
They aalways say "we did an extensive search at/in so-so place" in official statements. Obviously they wouldn't announce "yeah, we kinda snooped around in there, but 2 of us had to pee, and 3 of us were starving to death, so we left after 20 minutes of hanging out there."
This PD did a great job and they seem to be more likeable than most cops in general, but they're no angels.
