Bobby was my favorite. He is the scapegoat of every dysfunctional family. He makes mistakes but tries to be loyal, truthful and is gentle strength that actually keeps the family together but under appreciated.
Despite their confrontations Bobby deep down loved JR. You didn't see many scenes of Bobby supporting JR emotionally but that makes this scene so powerful. I feel Bobby had a stronger character than JR.
He was stronger. JR was a spoiled brat who thought his mother loved Gary more and his father loved Bobby. They loved them all the same JR was difficult and Gary was sensitive so miss Ellie spent more time with him. Bobby was there for JR but JR was only there for Bobby when he was on death's door. His selfish behind.
@@loulouwillis5648 not true at all. Jock always admitted Bobby was his favorite son, and Elli always admitted Gary was hers. Jock also admitted that he pushed JR too hard and didn't temper his ambitions and drive with enough restraint, and Elli admitted that she let go of JR too soon when he was growing up and allowed Jock to pull him into the business too quickly. JR was driven to try to win the approval of Jock his entire life and that's why the death hit him so hard. He felt like he had lost his last chance to make his daddy proud while he lived. He also had a busted marriage at that point and felt guilty that John Ross wasn't on South Fork the way Jock wanted when Jock died. JR was no saint and he wasn't perfect but none of the brothers were and none of their wives were either.
I know that this is fiction but I can relate with JR and how he felt when his father died. My father passed away almost five months ago and it’s still extremely difficult to move forward. He was a huge part of my life and the best man that I knew. I didn’t drown myself in booze or drugs but the emotional and mental anguish still is hard to get through but I am pressing forward. I love this clip and can totally relate.
I think Larry was also grieving over the loss of his father figure Jim Davis and you can tell. I think when Jim Davis died a part of Larry died too. I honestly do not think that Larry Hagman got over Jim Davis's death.
This was the kick in the but JR needed. Your can mourn someone you love when they're gone, but you can't wallow in self pity forever. Jock wouldn't have wanted that.
Yes but he was so bad to Sue Ellen no wonder why she left. JR always felt like he couldn't live up to Jock's Expectations and he felt that he didn't have Jock's forgiveness for almost losing Ewing Oil and mortgaging Southfork.
laminage I don't blame her for leaving, but I blamed her for going back the several times she did. Every time she left, he'd want her back. She'd go back, believing he'd changed. They'd be happy for a while, then JR would show his spots & start cheating again. Then she'd move into her own room & eventually leave. Then they'd reconcile.
Yes, you ate right but JR played Sue Ellen like a Violin. When he was nicer to her after the Divorce, she should have known he had soothing up his sleeve. He wanted her and John Ross back at Southfork because it must have hurt him not to see him every day and see Bobby & Pam with Christopher. Also remember the confrontation that John Ross had with Sue Ellen where he said "I Am Not My Father!"
laminage I think the only reason he badly wanted her back during the dream season was he was really impressed with her after becoming sober & working at Graison Research. Mandy betrayed JR to cliff because she thought JR & Angelica slept together. JR said he forgave her for that, but the damage was done. By this time JR really was impressed with Sue Ellen & noticed how happy John Ross because his mother was home. Then Sue Ellen showed interest in Jerry Kenderson, & that made JR jealous. He always wanted her when he couldn't have her.
It hurts to lose a love one, but it hurts even more when they die tragically so sudden. Jock a man of his years died in a helicopter crash and Pam and Cliff’s mama in a plane crash.
I understand what Bobby means.. and yes all of them miss jock...but seems to me bobby never liked how JR ran Ewing Oil.. this was his chance to run it how he felt it should be run..... let JR moron the loss of Jock.. his motavating JR to snap out of it and get back to work... may have worked but then later.. JR did things The family had to bail him out of....... I bet Bobby wished he hadn't motavated him to get back to work.
This was a great clip from the show. I love it how Jr did the same for Bobby when Jenna left Bobby and got married and when April dumped Bobby. Both times Bobby about gave up and jr reminded Bobby that Christopher needed bobby like John Ross needed jr
There is a scene where John Ross sat in Jocks chair and it was this that made JR come back bigger, badder than ever. It was when he got his son and Sue Ellen back and nailed Cliff Barnes to a wall. JR uttered those famous words 'Barnes you get dumber and dumber every day'.
Oh JR ! Larry Hagman which most of his performance in many of Dallas chapters JR acts like a jerk, arrogant, stubborn , provocative & making the rest of the players unhappy and miserable. Sometimes JR is funny towards the other players. He sounds english accent.
A great scene... but I doubt millionaires would have their kids' pictures taken at Wal-Mart/K-Mart like the one JR was holding. My grade school pics looked better than those hack jobs.... lol
@@robertrodriguez787 he look to his dad as a teacher and mentor in his life. That was the relationship Rocky had with Mickey on his road in life.Apollo was an opponent and then a friend and then a partner in the fight business.
Never had use for Bobby. He was a bully and a thug. Here he is way out of line. I decide how I will mourn and for how long. Attacking me in my room like that would have pissed me off big time. JR spent his entire life trying to get the love and support of two parents who never made a secret of their favorites. If Bobby's purpose was to get JR to help him run the company, he could have come up with a better way of doing it than being a thug and bully which was his usual thing. Same with how Bobby handled Ray. And again, I decide how I mourn and for how long.
LBF522 well when you're the president of a huge company, you either relinquish power to deal with your grief, or man up. Bobby did what he thought was best. As far as Ray, at least he cared. JR kicked Ray when he was down
“Well bob I distinctly remember your room being down the hall” brilliant.
Bobby was my favorite. He is the scapegoat of every dysfunctional family. He makes mistakes but tries to be loyal, truthful and is gentle strength that actually keeps the family together but under appreciated.
Zzzz Bobby was victimized by his strength of character his choices were hard but he sacrificed every one of them to what was right 👍.
This was an excellent way to provide JR with new motivation now that Jock was gone.
J.R. loved his daddy.
To continue JR's own words, he respected his daddy. And "most importantly," he feared his daddy.
Bobby loved his daddy too .
Despite their confrontations Bobby deep down loved JR. You didn't see many scenes of Bobby supporting JR emotionally but that makes this scene so powerful. I feel Bobby had a stronger character than JR.
They both cared for each other, they had odd ways of showing it at times!
I concur

Praying for you Saxon . My dad passed in 2003.

Would love to c JR and Ray hangout over Jocks death. Misery loves company

When JR looks at John Ross’s picture he slowly gets that look in his eye. Bobby knew what to do.
This was a great scene
bobby... voice of reason
Great performances by Larry Hagman & Patrick Duffy, about the death of their father!
Gary Richard Collins II they missed there father too much.
Derrick Jackson I miss my father too
JR suddenly realized he has someone else besides his daddy to do what he does at Ewing OIl but not for his father it’s now for his John Ross III
bobby played a good card, talks some good sense.
Seeing JR boozing it up . . . to think he had the nerve to accuse his brother, Gary, of being a drunk.
And/ Or Sue Ellen
The difference was JR was a functioning alcoholic as Sue Ellen, and Gary were blackout drunks
A bad time for JR. He lost his wife, his son & his father.

J.R. still had strength in him to keep on fighting. He just needed someone to show him he still had it in him.
Wow, Jr was becomming the Sue Ellen of the show!
John Ross is what got JR back to work.
Another reason and moment which justified why Bobby was Jocks favourite.
gammergq Bobby was Jack’s favorite for different reasons and like our fathers they have different reasons why certain favoritism is there

…if I had a nickel for every time JR came home and went straight for the liquor!
