A piece of trivia: Did anyone know that when Dallas was original conceived, Bobby was suppose to die in a car accident, and leave his percentage of Ewing Oil to Pam? The series was then supposed to be about Pam going on with her life without the love of her life and having to deal daily with the Ewings, especially JR. By the time the 5 part miniseries ended, Bobby proved to be too popular of a character to kill off so they scrapped that original ending.
HnHBlkM - I do recall reading about that. Only problem was Bobby didn’t own any part of Ewing Oil. Jock owned it all. Perhaps Pam would have received an inheritance from Bobby, but she would likely have taken it and left. Not sure why she would stay (the concept had her remaining at Southfork for dramatic purposes I believe).
Pretty clearly the inspiration for the initial miniseries was "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" by Tennessee Williams, with Jock as Big Daddy, Miss Ellie as Big Mama, Bobby and Pam as Brick and Maggie, JR & Sue Ellen as Brother Man and Sister Woman, and Lucy as the No-Neck Monster ...... In "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof", Maggie was always the one who had to stand-up to Gooper. I believe that by intending to kill-off Bobby early in the show's run, David Jacobs intended to fully capitalize on the battles between Maggie the Cat and Brother Man.
Yeah, that blew me away! Also when Bobby talked about The Pocket Watch, it kind of reminded me of the one that Chase Gioberti inherited on the Pilot Episode of Falcon Crest. It belonged to his Father Jason with the Falcon Crest Logo on it. Also as you know Falcon Crest was produced by Lorimar that also holds the rights to Knots Landing, Eight Is Enough & The Waltons.

Yes. Also CBS had no idea that was was supposed to be a Five Part Miniseries would be a Worldwide Phenomenon that this year celebrates 40 Years this year. There was a Family similar to The Ewings called The Kings which consisted of Father Tom his Three Sons Matthew, Jimmy, Carl and a Long Lost Son from a rendez vous with a Woman named Max as well as a Daughter named Scarlett Mary by his Dying Wife's Nurse named Carrie.
Also Bobby could have written to JR "Thanks also for teaching me The Oil Business and never allowing me to cut corners, and in your own way you made me toughen up in a way that I didn't have before, I'd like to think that whatever success that I had as an Executive at Ewing Oil, was in part because of you."

Yeah, you're right. I remember watching Dallas The Early Years and when Jock said goodbye to The Foster Family who went from having nothing to having so much and when he was getting to leave, he kissed Mrs. Foster which was quite a brave thing to do in the 1930's, a White Guy Kissing A Black Woman. It was kind of strange, they had Hispanics as Subservient Workers but with the exception of The BBQ Episode, you never saw them associate with Visitble Minorities.
Puxa vida, como faço pra ter essa série completa? Tem na netiflix? Por favor, se alguém souber, me responda aqui! Desde já agradeço! Quero a série original! Um abraço! 🙏❤️😊
I just do not believe that Pam would dream about Ray and Donna's personal life. So, in the next season Ray and Donna should have stayed married with their adopted hearing impaired son, Tony. I did not mind that Patrick wanted to come back to the show. But does that mean since Bobby is back, should Ray and Donna should still lead separate lives, and then divorce, no of course not. Just because Bobby is back does not give the writers' the right to divorce Ray and Donna. As season progressed the viewers see less and less of Donna at South Fork.
Can someone clarify if I'm wrong? I am sure I once read where the writers had thoughts of killing off the character of Bobby soon after the series started in order to create the intense hatred between the Ewing’s and Barnes. Obviously the Ewing’s/Barnes feud was already there however having that Barnes woman living at Southfork would just intensify the story.
No, Gary already got a Inheritance from Jock's Will although he got "Less" than JR & Bobby but got "More" than Ray. The reason why Bobby left Gary a Horse was because out of all of The Ewing Sons, Gary was the one who had the most love of the Land and was good with Horses, Gary also had a closer bond with Bobby than he ever did with JR. Also, in Miss Ellie's Eyes, Gary had more characteristics of a Southworth than a Ewing which Jock wasn't impressed by.
I sure do miss the 70s and 80s television! I wish Dallas could have lasted forever! Bobby Ewing was soooooo hot! And Pam was perfect, in every way that women care about! She was smart, beautiful, loyal, and most of all, Independent! There was nothing that J.R. Ewing didn't know about the oil business, and that made him hot as well!!!!! Damn, I miss the original series!!!
@redletter2008 Yeah, you're so right. Thanks for reminding me. When "Jenna #1" then played by Morgan Fairchild came along, I initually hated her. Pam was trying so hard to be "accepted" by the Family and now this "Woman" came back into Bobby's life. Also, I had my reservations about Priscilla Presley playing Jenna #3 after Francine Tacker (The Paper Chase TV Series). You were right about her working hard as a Single Mother.
the big mistake Dallas made was killing off sue Ellen ,sister Kristen, in the swimming pool, they should of let her go to knots landing, I no she did some episodes in that series, or maybe she wanted to leave Dallas, at that time, she did come back in Dallas, in Jr Ewing dream, episode ithink

Gary didn’t “make his fortune” out in California. Jock left him $10 million. Gary was working at a used car dealership before that.
He had lotus point, and empire valley.
Plus ten percent of Ewing oil
Then he lost it all and had to move back to Val’s house in the cul de sac
@@TheMaggiesDad true, he wasn’t business savvy like his brothers. Lol
Iubesc DALLAS cu actori cu tot
No, Gary already got a Inheritance from Jock's Will although he got "Less" than JR & Bobby but got "More" than Ray. The reason why Bobby left Gary a Horse was because out of all of The Ewing Sons, Gary was the one who had the most love of the Land and was good with Horses, Gary also had a closer bond with Bobby than he ever did with JR. Also, in Miss Ellie's Eyes, Gary had more characteristics of a Southworth than a Ewing which Jock wasn't impressed by.
Yes but The House in Los Angeles was courtesy of Miss Ellie as a Wedding Present since Gary had no credit or colllateral
The Parthian arrow that pierced JR's heart. 😅😅😅
this was the season that was a dream it didnt happen
I sure do miss the 70s and 80s television! I wish Dallas could have lasted forever! Bobby Ewing was soooooo hot! And Pam was perfect, in every way that women care about! She was smart, beautiful, loyal, and most of all, Independent! There was nothing that J.R. Ewing didn't know about the oil business, and that made him hot as well!!!!! Damn, I miss the original series!!!
This is the season Dallas should have ended.
If they had just left him dead! Or better, not kill him, just put him in coma and revive him, or not, if he didn't want t return.
I guess if you really born in a really rich family you have to make your will in your 20s or 30s.
JR and Pam, my favorite characters in Dallas !
It was all just a dream!
Good Lord, Victoria Principal is spectacular to behold! What a gorgeous woman.
Wake up Pam Wake up!!!!
shax yes
Priceless expression
Boy that was some look JR gave Pam when it was said that she would be in charge of Christopher’s share of Ewing Oil.
What a will!
What did Gary received?
classic tv
It really was the best
the big mistake Dallas made was killing off sue Ellen ,sister Kristen, in the swimming pool, they should of let her go to knots landing, I no she did some episodes in that series, or maybe she wanted to leave Dallas, at that time, she did come back in Dallas, in Jr Ewing dream, episode ithink
Should HaVe
The look JR gave Pam after what Harv Smithfield said, wow.
