My pen name is Cal Kasheau. Hey, I'd like to shamelessly promote my literary accomplishments while I have your attention. I have several short story titles you can get on Amazon; the links are below. Some are humorous, some reflect events in my life, and some are legends I heard of as a child in the swamps of Louisiana. They are only a dollar or two, and most are free with Kindle unlimited membership. I hope you will take the time to read one or two and give me your honest opinion in the comments on whether or not I should continue to pursue a side gig as an author.

Yeah, I didn’t go into the back on this one and the customer was coming right back for it. There was something shot out the back when I restarted it. I guess I should have.

Hey I love the video! Helped me a ton. Belt broke fixed it. Drum is rotating fine. No, however I am not getting heat? It’s a gas dryer. Before it broke the heat was fine. Any idea what it could be?

    • @HarperandKnowles
      @HarperandKnowles  19 днів тому

Probably the thermal fuse. If the thermal fuse blows on an electric dryer it won’t come on at all. If it blows on a gas dryer it won’t light. That’s the long white one on the blower. Thanks for watching!

I realize this is a dryer video but i figured it was the best option to possibly get a reply.
Do you have a video about how to determine if a washer motor is still in good working order? Referring to a 2003 belt drive. I can't find a single video that shows any sort of test other than removing the belt and turning the spin cycle on. Mine works but stalls with the belt on. The pump spins free, the tub pulley turns counterclockwise from thr bottom. I was thinking motor resistance is what i should do but im not sure what values are acceptable.
Non clutch type; it has the brake disc and stator/drum

Hi, I don't have a specific video on testing electric motors. There are tons of them out there. I like Jeremy Fielding's channel, he goes into great depth explaining everything one would need to know about electric motors and he is a brilliant young engineer too. Check out his videos, I bet there's an answer there. I wonder if you tried changing your capacitor? Perhaps you aren't getting the ZAP you need to get things started. Thanks for watching!

@@HarperandKnowles I am familiar with his channel and that video.
My specific case is PAV2300AWW and I don't see a capacitor anywhere.
I had an issue with the brake not engaging; possibly the whole time we have had it since we bought it used.
That turned out to be the drum was covered in oil sludge. The brake was fine, just needed to be thoroughly degreased but I replaced it anyway.
Now the brake holds really well but spin doesn't work. It did work a little but then it just locks up and hums. I was thinking the motor failed because it was stuck for a while with power applied and smelled electrically burnt.
Now I'm thinking the original thrust bearing and washers may be worn just enough to cause a problem. I may try adding an extra washer but I did just order a new thrust bearing kit.
Thanks for your response. Glad I found your channel this morning. I'll be watching more.

Ah, yeah that model isn't one I am that familiar with. My mentor and business partner was a genius when it came to those models. Whenever I had an issue with similar models I always deferred to Mr. Harper. Unfortunately he passed away in August and his advise is lost to me. I rarely see machines this old anymore but usually can figure out the issue. However I don't have a clue how to help you with this.

i usually get about 3 dollars of change out of a dryer but the most i got was 47 dollars pennies dimes quarters
i tell everyone to toss there fabric softener and detergent in the trash and use white distilled vinegar in the washer only fabric softener is a wax and causes allegers and towels will not dry you after a shower plus it cuts way down on lint modern washers have a seal in the bottom of washer that fabric softener sticks to and sand and dirt mixes with it and burns the seal out and destroys the transmission i even give a jug to people to try but if your washer is a couple years old black mold and bacteria is gowning between the two tubs
i always tell people do not listen to me because i like your money in my pocket

Wow! You got me beat. The most I ever got was $36 and five of that was a bill. When I was parting out the old machines we had collected before they went to the scrapyard I found a gold and diamond tennis bracelet that a jeweler friend of mine said was worth about $850. I bought the machine from a scrapper over a year before that and was unable to determine who the original owner was so the Missus has a bracelet now.
