2:52 you're not tightening the pulley. Anyone else who watches this, there's a 7/16 inch or 11 mm flat just behind the pulley on the shaft that you should use to hold the motor shaft steady, you don't need and shouldn't use a giant wrench on the blower side of the motor.
I discovered the motor pulley broken while trying to replace a belt on my dryer. I got a new motor pulley now, but can't get the other half of the old one off of the shaft! Any ideas?
Not sure if I understand correctly without seeing a picture, but if you mean the the front part of the pulley (that you can fit a wrench on) is broken off and you only have the back part (circular instead of hexagon shape), you'll need to use channel locks like he shows so the teeth of your tool can kind of bit into the metal of the broken part to get a good grip. Since this part is broken, damaging it shouldn't be a concern. Be careful with the new part during install so you don't damage it.
@@BrentWatsonyahoo thank you! I probably used the tool you're describing, but I don't know what any of the tools are called (I wouldn't remember anyway), besides the obvious ones, but it was like you described and it got it off. Thanks :)
I just replaced the motor pulley on my whirlpool because the old one broke and ripped the belt as well. The new one did the same thing within a couple of weeks. Does anyone have any idea as to why the threads are getting destroyed causing the belt to break as well???
FYI shaft of the motor has flattened sides, I used a adjustable cresent wrench and vice grips to remove the old pulley. Whirlpool\Kenmoore 70-80 series.
Okay but it's BROKEN. There is only the back curved part to take off but no way to grab onto it since it's CURVED and the part you grabbed broken off. How do you actually get it off?
It would be vastly helpful. If you would have committed upon the possibility of REVERSE THREAD, somewhere in this video! It turned a 45 minute job into 5 hours of endless frustration. Try removing a left handed nut using the right handed nut removal method. Having to put the motor in a vise and using a pipe wrench in an attempt to remove the pulley. I worked on it with cheater bars until it broke up and fell off. And as you might have guessed, when I started to thread the new pulley on, that's right, it wouldn't go. PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE, add an amendment to this video. Informing everyone of the real possibility that they my have a REVERSE THREAD PULLEY SHAFT! Submitted Respectfully, Marty

Could this pulley be why my belt keeps shredding? I just replaced the other pulley and wheels. Not sure which is causing the shredding
How much do you tighten the motor pulley? Tell it can't go anymore?
Very good. Part came today. Vice grips and channel locks used. Kenmore is working as we speak. Thanks

Your motor shaft is reverse-threaded, this pulley has standard thread..late reply😀
