I literally couldn’t pay attention to rest of the comic because my mind when on this tangent of “What happens when a teen shows a superpower in the marvel universe?” Like do they call their parents and give them a pamphlet “Your child is a mutant, what comes next?” Do they forward professor Xavier’s information? Are there other non-combat base mutant schools? Do they have educational videos about it? “Your body is going through changes, not all of them are normal”. How can schools possibly accommodate for children that can summon lighting?
Well, as far as I know, there were quite a few schools for superpowered kids at one point. Xavier's, the Massachusetts School, The Avengers Academy in Wisconsin, The Future Foundation...uhm...yeah. that's about all i can remember. Some schools don't even have things like this to turn to. It's weird. You would think the mutant scare would have calmed down a bit over time. But no. People are still weird about mutants.

A coincidence on the same level as Batman and Superman's mothers both named Martha. Or I guess just a happenstance. Peter would 100% name his son Ben, no matter who the writer is. That said... it's still JJ so time will tell.
He also looks like John Wick. Maybe the hook hand is a ploy. He has a real robot hand that's all weapon-like because he's secretly on a hunt to kill all the villains of the world, Punisher style... or just because someone thought it would look cool. (spoiler: it doesn't).
How does Peter Parker know how to build the web shooting toys, the formula for webs, afford either one, repair his costume, so many questions... Must be knowledge from the Spider Totem event, some inherent genetic fate whatever. Lost touch with the narrative of 20 years of comic book facts... What bothers me about the Nepotism is that there are so many great writers out there that are never given a chance, people that have worked their butts off, and... (Stay tuned for the rest of my comment).
This makes me think of the voice acting jobs.. Like Rob Paulsen (Known for Raphael, Donatello, Yakko, Pinky, Dr. Scratchnsniff), and Tara Strong (Barbara Gordon/Batgirl, Harley Quinn, Twilight Sparkles, Bubbles, etc.) and then go to hire a movie actor with one voice so people go to see it and bring in big bucks. Stupid producers
I too call people by their full names but I am a reformed super villain. I do appreciate the things that bug me in canon bug you. Seriously Peter could have grown another arm by perfecting Connors formula, fashioned an arm out of scraps in a cave himself or Deadpool could’ve forced Cable to give him an arm (you know he would’ve). Point being, this may be a decent comic but lazy writing is lazy writing... I would have gone with a symbiotic arm that he hates... named Archimedes.
Im sorry. I cannot see MJ and Peter together without thinking "I want your marriage. Give me your marriage." Lol!!! Thanks for ruining them for me Sasha.
After reading the first issue I think will just follow it through your videos. Abrahms has disappointed me far to often, and the nepotism does annoy me. The door bothers he hell out of me too, great vid as usual.
I love this channel. I really do. Ps. Everyone seems to give JJ Abrams waaaay too much faith. Did NO one watch Lost?? He’s a pretty predictable, middle of the pack writer whose threads usually lead no where. Wish people could stop calling him ‘amazing’.
Abrams was only a producer of Lost. Damon Lindelof was the creator. And he got better with The Leftovers and Watchmen. If you want to look at bad endings that Abrams is fully responsible for, look at Alias and Rise of Skywalker.
I think the hook hand was because if he had anything specail it might look pretty suspicious. "Hey Remember Parker?" "That Reporter dude from the Bugle?" "Yeah.... Did you see his fully functional hand, made of Adamantium?" "Yeah, I wonder how he got it... Considering he's supposedly middle class." ..... .... "Spiderman?" "Spiderman."

This is not connected to the rest of the Marvel Universe. J J Abrams said he doesn't care about canon. He is better suited for writing new franchises, not continuing old ones.
The hook hand could be that Peter does not want everyone to know that he was Spider-Man, maybe he went to the hospital in civies with MJ in his arms and normal people do not get prosthetics from superheroes. It is obvious that Peter has not been Spidey since the death of MJ so he would not need a cyborg hand to fight crime. Maybe his powers ended after the bridge incident, we have seen his powers disappear due to emotional trauma. BTW, Spider-Man is back in the MCU for at least one more movie!

Judging this by its intent, it was pretty bad. It wasn't shocking by any measure. Nearly everything in it has been seen before (in universe and out) and there are literally no stakes raised by the end. With that said, it has a typical Abrams "mystery box" that he puts in all of his stuff. But the answers for the mystery box is rarely satisfying. I give it a "meh" rating of ten.

Untitled Black-led film In February 2021, Ta-Nehisi Coates was revealed to be writing a new Superman film for the DCEU that was in early development. J. J. Abrams was set as producer alongside Hannah Minghella, with no director or actors attached to the project yet. The film was expected to feature a Black actor portraying Superman, with potential for Michael B. Jordan to still take on the role after previously pitching himself as a Black version of the character. Coates said he was looking forward to "meaningfully adding to the legacy of America's most iconic mythic hero", while Abrams said the film would tell a "new, powerful and moving Superman story". This was reported by outlets as being a reboot of the franchise, but Richard Newby of The Hollywood Reporter felt the film starring a Black actor could indicate a new version of Superman that could exist alongside Cavill's portrayal within the DC Multiverse. Newby also noted that Coates' history as a non-fiction author and journalist focusing on African-American issues would give him "the insight and experience to delve further into the [Superman] mythos in a way never seen on screen". Jordan said at the end of April that suggestions he star in the film were a compliment, but he would not be signing on to the role. The studio was in the early process of finding a director for the film at that point, and had committed to hiring a Black filmmaker for the project. They had met with potential directors by early May, working from a list that included Steven Caple Jr., J. D. Dillard, Regina King, and Shaka King; Dillard later said that he had not been approached for the film. Coates was not expected to deliver his script for the film until mid-December, and was believed to be introducing a new version of Kal-El / Superman in what was potentially a 20th-century period piece. The film was believed to be set in a separate universe from the DCEU at that point. In July, Jordan's reasoning for distancing himself from the film was reported to be due to the decision to portray Kal-El as Black rather than introduce a different Superman character that is already portrayed as Black in the comics such as Calvin Ellis or Val-Zod. This was seen by some as racebending a white character while "erasing" existing Black characters, a conversation that Jordan did not want to engage in. Instead, he began developing a limited series for HBO Max focused on the Val-Zod version of the character. In October 2022, Abrams and Coates' film was revealed to be set in a separate continuity from other DC franchises, similar to Joker (2019), and the film remained in active development by December under the then-recently formed DC Studios when its co-chairman and co-CEO James Gunn announced that he was writing a new Superman film.
With the door replacement, there's a good chance there was a spare door tucked away (I would keep a couple lying around if there was a chance my son would develop the same spider-powers as I did)
Peter looks kinda like Keanu Reeves here, and if they ever made this into a movie, I'd love to see a hook-for-hand Peter played by Keanu, which would be **sick guitar riff** excellent. Also, about the Faye Ito thing, they might have been referring to the Japanese tradition of addressing people by their last name and then first name (so if Peter were Japanese, he'd be addressed as Parker Peter), but it doesn't make sense why they're doing it in a non-Japanese environment, and if they're following Japanese traditions for some reason, why aren't they adding an honorific like san or chan to her name like it's done in Japan? (The honorifics wouldn't be used only by people very close to her, so it's not applicable to all her classmates) Why only go halfway? And why the hell are they calling her by her full name? That's so funny XD Also, Ito means thread in Japanese, and the video I watched before this one was the one you made about AU Spideyfied Aunt May (Spiderma'am) who used knitting thread to catch criminals, and I really want Faye Ito to follow her footsteps
I've always had a problem with missing limbs in the Marvel universe, in which the Winter Soldier, Misty Knight, Flash Thompson, etc. exist. No hook hand for Spider-Man. Surely he, of all people, is deserving of some sort of Tony Stark replacement. (Iron Spider, anyone?)
I always hated the whole "Son/Daughter of" legacy trope, because it doesn't make any sense. Heroes lead dangerous lives, so why would they want to get their own flesh and blood involved? That's just insane. This is perfectly showcased in Watchmen, where Laurie Juspeczyk walks around in a costume because... Her mother trained her to be a super heroine? "Suit up and go out there to kick some drugged-up, violent, knife-wielding Knot Top ass and make mommy proud!" Laurie hates being the Silk Spectre, because in her thirties she has no idea how to interact with normal people or how to even live a normal life. I would play with this cliché trope though and set up the son as the potential new hero ready to follow in the footsteps of his father/mentor. ... And then kill the son off and have the father reclaim the mantle to avenge the death of his son. Just because super heroes have children, doesn't mean those children are supposed to become heroes themselves. It's a lame and lazy cliché.
Astro City played with this trope with the hero Jack in the Box. He was payed a visit one night by two future versions of his unborn son, both of whom went down some very dark paths because of their father's death in the line of duty as a super hero
@ The funeral, the pastor was trying to shelter SM's very fragile ego. The pastor had just heard about the hook. Maybe the hook is just for picking up your son when he causes trouble at school. This Allegory is Spiderpowers = $$$$. Maybe when little Abrams breaks stuff, it is silently replaced by harried Production Assistants. Shipping Cadaver giant cyborg cape.
My money is Ben is Cadverious from the future. The hook hand is probably is guilt and someone on here also said it's because he doesnt want people to know he was spider man so him having a hook makes him blend in more.
Also OSP Red jokingly called Paradise Lost a Bible fanfic XD Edit: And Dante's Divine Comedy

Ok so... Alt future? check. Retired Spiderman? check. Spiderman missing a limb? check. Spiderman's kid who inherited his powers and is going to potentially follow into his steps? check. Are we sure this isn't just the male version of "Mayday" Parker?
The funny thing about "fanfic"... We use it to insult bad writing, then we demand that our movies, comics, and TV shows are made by people who are fans of the genre.
I mean one of Spider-Man’s biggest villains is the lizard. A scientist that couldn’t figure out how to get his arm back without becoming an animal man in the process.
Not being into comics for years, I missed this event. And thanks to Sasha, don't feel like I'm missing out. Do we even know if J.J. Abrams is supposed to be a comic fan? I know he's a Star Wars fan and turned Star Trek reboot to be like "Wars." If I were to get the comic, I'd be unable to see the questions Sasha raised but also wanting to give it a chance.
I’m thinking Peter has a hook hand because that’s all Peter Parker can afford. If he had a technologically advanced mechanical prosthetic robot hand people might suspect that he was some sort of a superhero or involved with the Avengers and possibly uncover his Spider-Man identity. Just a thought.
The issue of this comic is that it was kind of trite. As an avid fan of Spider-Man I felt it was bits and pieces of other "Spider-Man is a father", especially Spider-Girl (down to 'Peter retires after a terrible fight against his enemy makes him lose a limb'). It doesn't help that to fridge a woman is seen very lazy in comics books and it is MJ, who is known to have very protective fans and to be usually ... contentious for editors and Marvel higher ups The cinematic approach also remembered every teen drama. Was it a well done one? KINDA? Nothing really stood out to me to make me intrigued, and the ludicrous hype around it .... was kind of hard not to be extra-judgemental
Haven't read the series. Might give it a look. Does anyone else think that it might be cool to have Ben Reilly's son be the mentor for Ben Parker? Might be a cool way for him to learn Spiderman stuff without the awkward father son stuff we've seen a million times.
Thank you Sasha!!!! Too snarky??? How's about not nearly the proper prescribed portion of peculiarly pleasant snark.,..........your membership in the All Star Snarky Responders will be under review. Oh,...the story??more of the same, not nearly enough story to give any meaningful commentary,......you know just set up for another typical story arc. PEACE dear sister, till next we meet around the comics rack.
Meh. Even if I did care enough to pick the comic up and had never heard of J.J Abrams or his son, I'd still say the comic was average. I'll point out that there are those J.J. isms that spring up here. Such as the dramatic opening involving a grim threat, followed by a black screen (or page) with white text telling us where we are now, and the main characters either bickering or not getting along.
i justread this comic cause, i felt like it and am reading the entire thing. (tbh, don’t really care what ppl say cause i read any and every comic with good stories)
If Peter Parker showed up with some Weird Hand and Spiderman "Who lost his arm in public" had an arm too it would cause problems. Spiderman is rocking Crazy New Arm under the panties and Peter has a normal prostetic.
the nepotism is pretty frustrating. The kid version of myself would probably really enjoy this story. While it does seems like an interesting comic, I feel for all of the writers who have honed their craft for years, who will never get to write for a SPIDER-MAN comic, while some kid (I'm sure he's a great kid) gets to go co-write one just because he was born. Spider-Man is not small potatoes. Or am I taking it too seriously and it's just a one time thing?
Half this comic is ripped off from 1990's Spider-Girl... Retired Spiderman missing a limb? Teenage kid with powers? Anyone else miss the MC2 universe? It had some good ideas, Marvel: The Next Generation style

That's so funny XD
Also, Ito means thread in Japanese, and the video I watched before this one was the one you made about AU Spideyfied Aunt May (Spiderma'am) who used knitting thread to catch criminals, and I really want Faye Ito to follow her footsteps
General Carnage wouldn't be a bad name for a character. I had to stop and check if there was one.
I just figured that Peter got the hook because he was tired of the spider theme and was angling for angsty merman should the position open up.
13:31 idk why, but this is so funny to me. “Piss yourself.” Piss yourself??? Excuse me???? 😂
Don't get me started on Sins Past
More giant robots should have capes. Surprisingly few examples even in anime.
"Suit up and go out there to kick some drugged-up, violent, knife-wielding Knot Top ass and make mommy proud!"
Laurie hates being the Silk Spectre, because in her thirties she has no idea how to interact with normal people or how to even live a normal life.
Its easier to copy paste powers and persona to the offspring of a well established and loved hero instead of creating something new.
Astro City played with this trope with the hero Jack in the Box. He was payed a visit one night by two future versions of his unborn son, both of whom went down some very dark paths because of their father's death in the line of duty as a super hero
7:53 Oh *no*
@ The funeral, the pastor was trying to shelter SM's very fragile ego.
Also OSP Red jokingly called Paradise Lost a Bible fanfic XD
Edit: And Dante's Divine Comedy
Ok so...
Alt future? check.
Retired Spiderman? check.
Spiderman missing a limb? check.
Spiderman's kid who inherited his powers and is going to potentially follow into his steps? check.
Are we sure this isn't just the male version of "Mayday" Parker?
The hook hand bothers me too. Immersion breaking. The ONLY explanation that makes any sense is guilt and self punishment.

Let's take it a step further
I'd say someone couldve given him a serum to accelerate his natural healing and allow him to REGROW his arm
The villian is ben from the future *speculation*
The funny thing about "fanfic"... We use it to insult bad writing, then we demand that our movies, comics, and TV shows are made by people who are fans of the genre.
I mean one of Spider-Man’s biggest villains is the lizard. A scientist that couldn’t figure out how to get his arm back without becoming an animal man in the process.
Not being into comics for years, I missed this event. And thanks to Sasha, don't feel like I'm missing out.
Do we even know if J.J. Abrams is supposed to be a comic fan? I know he's a Star Wars fan and turned Star Trek reboot to be like "Wars."
If I were to get the comic, I'd be unable to see the questions Sasha raised but also wanting to give it a chance.
Haven't read the story, would it make sense if Peter's insurance wouldn't cover a Stark or Reed robo-hand?
It could be worse, he could be some Human-Spider hybrid thing akin to The Fly like Golon and Globus and James Cameron thought he was.
A more accurate thumbnail title since two titles is a thing for some reason is "JJ Abram's Batman Beyond...sorta?"
The name is Fay. *Ito Fay.*
Puts on sun glasses while The Who sounds in the background,
It should have obviously be a daughter. If they won't reverse One More Day they should give them the daughter.
they killed mj, for that IS A SIN
The issue of this comic is that it was kind of trite.
As an avid fan of Spider-Man I felt it was bits and pieces of other "Spider-Man is a father", especially Spider-Girl (down to 'Peter retires after a terrible fight against his enemy makes him lose a limb'). It doesn't help that to fridge a woman is seen very lazy in comics books and it is MJ, who is known to have very protective fans and to be usually ... contentious for editors and Marvel higher ups
The cinematic approach also remembered every teen drama.
Was it a well done one?
KINDA?
Nothing really stood out to me to make me intrigued, and the ludicrous hype around it .... was kind of hard not to be extra-judgemental
I’m digging it.
Hook hands Pop.
Haven't read the series. Might give it a look. Does anyone else think that it might be cool to have Ben Reilly's son be the mentor for Ben Parker? Might be a cool way for him to learn Spiderman stuff without the awkward father son stuff we've seen a million times.
Misty Nigth is a black woman in América living in harlem & she has a gold arm
Misty Knight, a regular cop, has a robot arm.
PEACE dear sister, till next we meet around the comics rack.
dont be to surprised that cadaverious is peter from another dimension.
1:35 wait... what?
As someone who LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVES making "X's kid" OCs, I feel insulted that this would be an insult!
J.J Abrams is a none-storyteller
i justread this comic cause, i felt like it and am reading the entire thing. (tbh, don’t really care what ppl say cause i read any and every comic with good stories)
about the hook, maybe peter couldn't aford a mechanical one?
That hook seven minutes in doesn't look like Pete lost a hand... it looks a little more extra too... and not in a good way unless you're Ron Jeremy
Why does Peter Parker look like Keanu Reeves here?
Anyone else get the Rick Grimes and Carl vibes? I’m sure Stark Enterprises could have “donated” a replacement hand and not arouse any suspicion
Ben clearly inherited the powers of a trap-door spider to replace the front door himself.
BBY LOKI YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS
Yeah!
It was a “ Meh! “ Story for me🤦🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
No Dana! Only Zuul!
This was written by someone who had their own vision of these characters, so I can see why this comic seems to be in its own world
The hook hand:
Peter is poor.
Poor people don't get fancy techno/mystical/super arms.
Hook hand not the first time it’s happened in comics and it always bothers me. Although if he’s hiding the fact that he is spider man that is the best route.
At this point I'm just so done with Peter and MJ lmao.
Anyway, this video had me rolling xD
