I love the ease of this project....I am making a Texas Flag for my brother in law and this is much better then what I was going to do....I wish we had seen the way you did the star....I made some wooden Houston Texans Logos for the house and for some friends and the star was the hardest....again great video!!
Jason Kelsey I know!! I have considered having the blue board bring a separate piece but then I’d have to run the grain the other direction and that would bug me. And I get too much bleeding from stain when I use stain and painters tape. Maybe there’s a method to get crisp lines with stain and painters tape and I just haven’t found it yet lol
in your video of the Texas state flag you apply mod podge but i can't tell where you are applying it , is it just on the tape, or on the tape and wood, can you clarify this for me, because i am making the flag as we speak and i want to keep the bleeding out , your video is very clear up to this point, help me with this as soon as you can , i enjoy all of your stuff, your friend from south Louisiana
how do you get to your products that you sell ? ETSY i want to buy a star to make the Texas flag and i can't locate how to get there need help email me with the info thanks
The Lone Star on the Texas flag is 3/4 the with of the blue stripe. This means that the diameter of a circle connecting the 5 points of the star is 3/4 of the width of the blue stripe.
You are welcome to migrate to Texas!!!
Thank you for this one, I am going to try to make one of these!

Well done. Thank you from North Dakota!
Loved the video. I am thinking about getting into wood working and some carving. Thanks for the help.
rgilbert33 thank you glad it helped!
Love the tutorial, made one for father-in-law, turned out great.
Awesome, glad it helped!
I’d like more information on the process for cutting out the star. What tip did you use with the rotary tool?
I used a 105 bit
You could use razor blades to separate the blue section if you use stain. Creates a nice sharp division.
would take several, several, razor blades and you would have to get it precisely together and hope there is no gaps in between the razor blades.
That grain is sick! Almost makes you wanna stain instead of paint just to show it off, especially the blue. Excellent flag. I am a Texas boy......lol

On the wood and tape it’s basically sealing the tape to the wood to stop any bleeding
@@TorchedWoodWorks thanks now i know you didn't show that in the video, thanks
Nice flag
Nice work! What shade blue did you use for your project? I did a state plaque and used Prussian Blue, but it was too dark.
Just navy blue!
I would love to get a stainless steel star template from you. Can't find the 81/2x81/2. Only 41/2.
Hello, just found your channel. Could you send a link for the Texas star template? Thank you
Thanks for the video. Does mog podge work with stain also?
No paint only. Stain won’t penetrate the mod podge
@@TorchedWoodWorks thanks for the response. I’m following your tutorial but going to use stain. Hopefully it doesn’t seep under the tape.
What type of wood do you use. I know you said 1x10. But curious on type of wood
Pine
Could you just tape off the edges of the star too and modge podge instead of carving?
I guess. Seems difficult lol
How long do you let the blue paint dry for before you take the tape off!
after about 30 minutes. I don't want it fully cured when I pull the tape off. Can lead to you pulling some of the paint up with it.
I take it off asap cheers
How much for the star stencil?
Sorry I don’t off stencils any more.
What is the name of the red paint you use? Thanks!
Minwax water based stain tinted scarlet red
Nice work. Does the mod podge work with stain?
D SPY9 no unfortunately only paint. The stain won’t penetrate the mod podge
Thanks for the response that’s too bad cause I haven’t had luck with stain bleed through with using tape.
@@dspy9357 Yea same here, I make a lot of spartan helmets and really wish I could use stain because it burns so much better than paint does.

Flag looks good, but your dimensions are wrong. The width is only 1.5 times the height.
none of my Texas customers have complained lol
A country with no flag sounds better
How much for the star
Great video buddy! I sent you an email. Had a few questions
How do you judge the size of the star
The Lone Star on the Texas flag is 3/4 the with of the blue stripe. This means that the diameter of a circle connecting the 5 points of the star is 3/4 of the width of the blue stripe.
Was loving the video watch it all the way until the flag u didn’t show how to do it I was like smh lol
Haha yea I can’t remember why I didn’t show it bc it’s been awhile. But if you got any questions please feel free to ask
