So glad you chose to do this song. It's one that is often overlooked, but it's one of her most beautiful songs.
Despite the theme song to Fame getting more attention I always liked Out Here On My Own more.
She owns that song!
Another of her songs that is overlooked is Love is the reason from Happly ever after
Irene Cara had me crying in this and her other songs. Loved her cadences! RIP Irene Cara.
One of the best songs and vocal performances in film history, She is such a uniquely talented and criminally underrated performer. Irene Cara inspired a generation. Nothing but love for this and you guys!
i wonder who it was that underrated her. fame and flashdance were huge trend setting films in the early 80s and irene was very popular.
@@elkalabaw7665 she had a lawsuit against her agent who had supposedly stiffed her. While the lawsuit was for about 10 million she only earned about 1.5 million in the case, but she spent close to that bringing the suit. So the suit did not net her much if anything from what I've read, don't know if it's right. Then she had started to develop a Coke habit. She claims she was blacklisted by the music industry. Today with social media and other outlets it would be hard to Blacklist someone of her Talent, but back then it was fairly easy. And the industry did not like when the talent stuck up for themselves! Supposedly Norman Lear and others ruined the career of the black young man who created good times over a dispute. The guy who played Marty's dad in Back to the Future did not give permission for his movie image to be used without compensation and some people believe that's why he has been seen very little since.
Even Irene cara's minor hits, like Why Me, The Dream, Anyone Can See, Now That It's Over, and I Can Fly (Eurodance hit) show incredible range in vocal styles and aesthetics.
She was a professional dancer, singer, songwriter, musician, music producer and actress.
Great song written by Lesley Gore and her brother Michael. Irene used to be referred to as a junior Donna Summer, as they phrased similarly. Irene also worked with Donna's main producer Giorgio Moroder (re Flashdance).Beautiful voice.
My favorite collaborations between Irene Cara and Giogio Moroder were Why Me and The Dream. Pure awesome.
So happy you guys are reacting to this. RIP Irene Cara.🌹
Definitely, my favorite Irene Cara song. So emotional. She also won an Oscar, a Grammy and Golden Globe.
Irene Cara's version is so much more feeling. Her vocals are out of this world.
This song gives you the feels.🥺 Irene sings it so longingly and with such sadness. 💔
Weeping. ♡
such an underrated song. she killed it.
Maybe it's the right time to try this again. For almost 2 years I've been trying to convince reactors to check out a song/scene from the 1980 movie Fame called I Sing the Body Electric. Please, to honor the memory of this beautiful and insanely talented woman, react to it. Irene Cara was a teenager when she filmed this. It is best when watched in context because it's f*cking beautiful. Full orchestra, band, choir, soloists, dancers and a vocal duet harmony that is like nothing you've ever heard. I can say this pretty confidently because I'm old and I haven't heard another harmony so memorable before or since. Also, it's a fabulous 1980 time capsule of hair and clothes. Here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/tG-wl2qqD7Y/v-deo.html
And I'm off to paste this request on other threads. RIP Irene Cara. Thank you for the wondeful gifts you shared with this world. I guess now it's on to Venus and Mars.
I get teary eyed everytime I hear this song. She sang/sung it so well.
I remember when she started her career. Her voice was a little bit like heaven on earth.👐👏🏼
I grew up during this time. Irene Cara was everything to me. I freaking love her so much. I was a little obsessed with her like I wanted to be like her when I was growing up!! I know that sounds weird to people that back in the day as a young girl, you looked up to certain artists or whatever. Anyway I freaking love Irene Cara, rest in peace queen! This is my favorite, Irene, Cara song, and one of my favorite songs of all time
It's been years since I've heard this song! I forgot how beautiful it was. Awesome reaction:)
This came out in my Senior year of HS…This is the most underplayed, but the most perfect, song from the 1979 movie Fame!
I always loved this song. Now I watch & listen & cry. Losing her & listening to this breaks my heart. RIP Irene.
I love, love, love that song, an underrated masterpiece indeed. It goes straight to your heart.
one of the best female voice ever . RIP irene .
Check her out in the 1970's movie "Sparkles" She killed it and you get to hear her singing some soul music.
Owned the movie Fame for years...love this song❤️..R.I.P Miss Irene Cara
Such a beautiful voice
Just Sooooo beautiful and powerful on every level
Peace, Irene ❤️ incredible
Irene was just fantastic. She opened many many doors for those who wanted to go through the performing arts door. RIP you star Irene.
Irene cara as a song called anyone can see which is such a beautiful song.
Incredible performance! She was an Angel.
I hope to meet somebody that looks at me the way you two look at each other. ❤️
Lesley Gore co-wrote this song for the movie and got an Oscar nomination for Best Song, losing to the title track "Fame".
This songs brings me to tears every time
Absolutely beautiful song, one of my favorites
I always loved that song. I grew up on that song, 1980.
from Australia I LOVED your reactions to this masterpiece
Irene Cara was a bright light and very talented, may she R.I.P. If you haven't checked out The Stylistics, you'd both love their music of the 70's, "You Make Me Feel Brand New", "You Are Everything", "Stone In Love With You" and "Betcha By Golly Wow."
Favorite song ever of hers
That song was in the movie Fame with Irene Cara. You guys should check out that movie that's what gave her her start and just shut her straight to fame. 🥰🥰🥰
I remember watching Fame at the Ziegfeld Theater in NYC as a teen. The audience actually clapped when she finished singing. A beautiful memory and moment.
God bless this GREAT QUEEN...She was TOO GOOD for the corrupt record industry and her legacy will last FOREVER...RIP eternal GODDESS...God Christ broke the mold with her...
Loved her😢
R.I.P Miss Irene Cara aka Sparkle
So powerful...rip..
The lyrics are so relatable, especially when we were teens and in our early twenties.
Those lyrics were written by the fabulous Lesley Gore
🎵❤🎼❤🎵❤
Did you guys ever see the movie Sparkle starring Irene Cara in the 70's? When the album came out Aretha did all the songs, but I loved her singing all the songs in the first movie. I love the first movie with her instead of the remake.
I remember when "Fame" came out along with the movie. She did a fantastic job on the song and in the movie.
My favorite though was from the movie "DC Cab" called "The Dream" (I believe)
You most definitely need to do a movie reaction to Fame. The movie is based on The School of Performing Arts in NYC (now known as Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. Fame was released in 1980, the same year I started high school (but not there 😂). Considering I went to an all girls Catholic high school, I can definitely say that I learned a lot from that movie. Nothing like that was going on in my high school. But the talent in Fame, and in the School of Performing Arts for that matter, was astounding.
The lead male dancer in the movie, Leroy, was played by the incredibly talented Gene Anthony Ray who also played the character in the tv series Fame. Sadly, he passed away in 2003 at the young age of 41. The great Debbie Allen, actress, dancer, choreographer, singer-songwriter, director and producer, also appeared in the movie and tv series.
It was a hit movie that produced a hit tv series and many songs. You would really like it.
Both "Fame" and this song "Out Here On My Own" from the 1980 movie musical "Fame" were nominated for an Oscar for best original song. (The title song "Fame" won.) Former 1960s teen singing star Lesley Gore (who had the No. 1 pop hit "It's My Party (and I'll Cry if I Want To)" in 1963 cowrote this song with her brother Michael Gore (who won the Oscar for the song "Fame"). Another great song from the movie "Fame" (set in the High School for the Perfoming Arts in New York City) is "I SIng the Body Electric."
Queen Irene...may her name live forever!
Love her! Loved Fame! Now, I must watch the pilot episode, again. So glad to have the means to repeat good music & TV from the past.
I was in Elementary School when this movie came out. We did a play in school dancing and singing to the soundtrack of Fame. Out Here On My Own was my favorite song to sing
She also wrote, for which she won an Oscar. Unfortunately, she was screwed over by the industry.
This is literally the ONLY SONG that has ever given me goosebumps. Insane vocals.
Its a song that got lost in the “Soundtrack” memory unfortunately. We need to revive this song in her memory!
Thank u so much guys! My favorite Irene Cara song RIP ❤️
The movie 🎥 Fame launched 🚀 the career of Irene Cara even further!
She sang this song and another song at the Academy Awards. She is the only person to sing 2 songs from the same movie 🎥 there.
Suggested video 📹: Irene Cara sings Why Me.
RIP Irene Cara 😢
Such an amazing beautiful song. I wish the whole world could hear this❤️
Please react to 'Look Into Your Heart' from 'Sparkle' featuring the duet between Irene Cara and Philip Michael Thomas.
I remember seeing Fame when it was released. Don't remember too much about the movie, but I certainly do remember this song! It's been one of my favorite ballads of all time, and the piano is breathtaking! Thanks for your reaction and I concur with you both. RIP Irene Cara.
This song has always been my anthem... since I was a teen! Love love love it! Great reaction ❤💙
One of my fave songs ever- Gives me chills
Thanks for that, fun memories from when I was young. By far her best song. RIP Irene?!?! Oh man! Super pretty lady, great singer. She is warming up that great band in the sky for all of us still here. Much love and prayers to her family and friends. Love from California.
This song was written by Lesley Gore with her Brother Michael Gore in 1980
I love both. Irene‘s and the Original Version!
I was in love with Irene when I was a boy
Thank you for reacting to this song. I've requested other reactors to react to this and you guys are among the few who have.
Fame (1980) is SUCH a good movie with lots of good music.
It's so sad to watch all of the great musicians of the fifties, sixties and seventies dying off...It seems like we are losing one or two every day anymore...At least I was there when all that great music was made, which makes me a lucky person...With the help of you young people it will never die...If it were to go away it would be a terrible loss to the world!!! Thanks for keeping it alive ...
I was hoping for you to do this song
Her song 'The Dream (Never Let Go Of Your Dream)' from the "D.C. Cab" soundtrack is another fun, uplifting song of hers that I'm sure you'll LOVE
This is my song, and my heart is broken. Rest In Peace, beautiful angel. 💔
How about doing a reaction to Hot Lunch Jam from the 1980’s movie Fame which was sung by Irene Cara. The Dream (Hold On To Your Dream) was from the movie DC Cab and was also sung by Irene Cara. I’ve seen the movies that she was in to many times to keep track of. I still watch them now. Also I Sing The Body Electric from the movie Fame.
Irene Cara: I Sing The Body Electric
And I'll look back on Venus
I'll look back on Mars
And I'll burn with the fire
Of ten million stars
And in time and in time
We will all be stars
I loved Fame.....you need to watch the movie!
Irene best to me is Anyone Can See! For my first love Elaine! 😢
Coco & Bruno ❤️
Pleaseeeeeeee watch the movie Fame!
Long before Jlo and Gloria Estefan we Irene Cara Angela Bofill and Lisa Liss bringing the vocals and talent
RIP Irene
My heart breaks she had so much more talent...then.the madonna's and so.on..she deserved to be number one
RIP
Not sure if she could play the piano, she generally had the same piano player for fame film and tv stuff, she was talented and was on tv by age of 8
I don t understand why from her and not from nikka😒
