Wow - this was really interesting - thanks for sharing! I like natural fibers when I can sew with them - I find them more comfortable. Looking forward to more videos!

Thank you for using your platform to talk about this issue. Recently I heard of a study on micro plastics found in men’s testicles! It is also important to me to get people to wash their fabrics before sewing, because you talk about chemicals in worn clothing, but in order to produce and ship fabric, they are treated with a whole host of flame retardants, pesticides etc. all those PFAS chemicals like water repellents and non-stick coatings do more harm than good, so please avoid them.
Keep up the excellent work with your UA-cam channel!

Thanks for adding this information because it is really important to prewash.

Isn't that some sh!T! Very interesting video. Years ago, I wore a polyester shirt and didn't sweat at all, but the oder (several washings) would come back. I since then have tried to only buy 100% cotton. Nowadays, it's hard to find something without some stretchy, chemical made fibre in the garment. I don't sew clothes after a disastrous wedding dress fail. 🤣 The marriage failed too! LOL

Yes, it is hard to find 100% cotton. Its part of the reason why I started sewing my own things. But, I totally understand why someone wouldn't wish to sew. :-)

Oh wow! I knew some of what you shared but.. MAN! Talk about scary crap! and your point about bras/bust support being only in stretchy materials is... illuminating. I think I may need to make some medieval linen support now! Thanks for taking the time to go through all of the science/articles and sharing with us.

Thank you. Always interesting. I rarely wear synthetics as I find they cause my skin to itch. When quilting I wash my fabric before using. The dyes and sizing etc. cause my hands to react. Also, I would love to wear linen, but the good stuff is too expensive for me and the lower quality linen has too much debris in it.

Yes, linen is super expensive. Thanks for watching.

I'm a person who reads the Bible. I also like doing more research on passages that talk about fabrics, dyes, embroidery, sewing, etc. (yes, there are quite a few.) In the Old Testament, there was a restriction on mixing wool and linen for clothing, that is mixing animal fiber with plant fiber. Wool would have included fiber from sheep, goats, camels and other animals in domestic use back then. Plant fibers would have included linen (flax), cotton (Egypt had it then), and assorted others. This applied especially to the priests carrying out their duties within the tabernacle and, when built, the temple.
There was no prohibition against say wearing a linen tunic and a wool cloak over it (it can get chilly in the Holy Land).
Now, in light of the differing frequency discovery, God looks a lot smarter.
Personally, I don't care at all for synthetic clothing. Synthetics don't keep me warm in the winter or cool in the summer. I do like polar fleece in small doses but much prefer other fibers.
BTW, I've been looking for good deals on spandex lately to make some exercise clothing and it can be found in cotton versions. Knowing that cotton is good at absorbing moisture. I might give it a try. Exercise clothes have to be washed often anyway so no problem with stinky clothes laying around waiting for the next wash day.

I've always been very curious about how the cloths of Biblical times looked as movies don't fully depict them. Out of all the disciples, I am most curious about John's camel hair outfit. Was it like a 70's fur coat? LOL. Thanks for watching and commenting.
