I love g-shock squares and I love a metal bezel. And if I were to choose I’d get a square with metal bezel and resin strap (I have a tiny wrist…) just like this one: but I’m not a fan of negative displays, and I wish this came with tough solar. Excellent review as usual!!!
Good review, and fair criticism!. I wanted to buy a G-Shock for years, great brand and unique shock resistance. However, most are huge, I have never found Casio resin straps comfortable and negative displays are terrible. I just bought the Gm-2100-5a metal Casioak, it has a nylon strap, the slim case and a positive digital display. It is the first G-Shock I couldn't find a reason not to buy 👍
Hello D Underhay. I just took a look. That is a nice looking watch. I hadn’t seen that one before with the metal cover. Nice. And that strap does look a lot nicer. I added to my list. Thanks and enjoy your watch 👍👍
Hi Eric. I'm a big fan of the G-shock squares myself, and today I happen to be wearing my favorite affordable(-ish) square: the GW-5000U. I also have a GW-M5610 and a GW-M5610U, and I've put steel cases + bracelets (from AliExpress) on those. For the M5610 I chose the "silver" colorway of the metal mod, and for the M5610U I chose black PVD. It's tempting to buy even more squares, but I'm trying to control myself because there's a lot of other things to spend money on (such as inflation!!). I also strongly prefer positive displays in general. The negative displays may look cool but legibility really suffers (unless it's the MIP LCD as found in the GBD-200 for example). Anyhow, thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one! 👍
I don't know why so many people have issues with negative displays. I've never had trouble reading mine in any lighting condition, and if it's pitch black, the back light works really well too. Sure, it doesn't SEEM as easy to read as a regular positive display, but the time it takes for me to look at the watch and register what I'm looking at is just as quick on these negative displays.
@@JosephSeed it is exactly as you've said, design choice. They did it not for the functionality of it being easy to read or not, they did it purely because the black looks cooler and sleeker to some people.
Hi Pawel. That’s a good question. I am not 100% positive and I no longer have the watch with me. I don’t want to tell you something without being absolutely sure. Sorry I can’t answer your question.

Can’t go wrong with a metal G-Shock!
How does metal gshock age?
This thing is so badass! Its modern but somehow 80's nostalgic too. 👏👍
I like that description. You’re right. It does look modern and 80s at the same time.

Hi BN9. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience. 👍

Very good criticism. Not worth it.
The classic DW-5600 with black on white writing is best. And cheaper.
Is the strap connected to resin case or metal bezel?

I cant justify paying $140 for a plastic watch with a band thats not that comfortable. Maybe in time I will.
Totally understandable, Bill. I have a hard time with that too
