Thunder and Lightning - Utilizing a Massive Rock for a Day Camp in Heavy Flooding Rains
Вставка

- As Luke the Lone Wolf explores a remote mountain top, he is alerted to the presence of something walking in the woods behind him. He runs towards the sound only to find nothing.....
Shortly afterwards, a strong thunderstorms floods the area and Luke uses a massive rock for cover.
Then as he's once again hiking the now flooded trails, whatever it was is following him again....

Those footsteps are some of the creepiest sounds Ive ever heard in the woods. Great video as always.
It was a Bigfoot. That's how it got the name Devil's Throne. The old timers in that area called them Wood Boogers and Wood Devils.
He adds sounds on his videos, he had heavy wind noises on there and the trees in the background weren't even moving lol
those are his, he added to good effect.
It clearly was the devil. With a GoPro. 😂
I was hiking in Virginia and went to the cliffs end where a storm was below me and the wind was pushing the rain up and over the cliff. Only time that I ever saw it rain upside down.
If that was me, and I heard footsteps behind me, that gun would have been in my hands. No time for digging it out. That wasn't a bear, either. It was on 2 feet. Thanks, Luke, for the great videos!
black bear. they can sound like something on two feet,
@@gogereaver349 this wood is dense. you would hear more than only footsteps, if a bear would roam around. fur on wood, sniffling, grunting etc. if you hear the footsteps of a bear this loud, you will hear more of it than only footsteps i guess.
@@gogereaver349 nope. Bears of all types/colors are notorious for the noise they make. Not only their feet, but they tend to crash THROUGH bushes and trees as opposed to going around like all the other animals do. And they grunt, snort, snuffle, and if they are walking on 2 legs instead of 4, their gait is uneven with no rhythmic tempo, whereas a human walks with a beat. And that’s what those footsteps sounded like.
Those footsteps were so strange, it sounded more like something on 2 feet rather than 4.🤔 That would have made me very nervous.
Maybe a Sasquatch. .
@@fireflyrocks1 Maybe he's learning how and why the area got its name.
@@stevehaug3603 my thoughts exactly
@@fireflyrocks1 🤣 Don't be daft! 🙄
It freaked me out 😬
Every time I watch a rain video from you and I hear you say, “it is really coming down.” I hear the voice of my grandpa reply, “Well have you ever seen it go up?”
That was Ol Grandpa RayThunderStar for you 😂
Omg 🤣 I always say it better be coming down or we have a problem
Grand pas are good for stuff like that. One of my grand father's lines was, "Which would you rather do or go fishing?" He tried that line on my son when he was about 7 ..... he just gave great granddad the side eye with a grin and said, "You think you're funny don't you?"
lol, he's not wrong though.
Alone. Idaho wilderness. Cold, wet, snowing and dark. Nobody knows where I'm at, and the feeling I'm being followed also. Never been so afraid in all my life. Great videos, keep it up!
love the ending LOL
Do tell
Fellow Idahoan....happened to me also! I'll never forget it.
Thank you! That was another beautiful trek! The rain is special. It brings life, and looks stunning under a camera!
I saw it, it's behind you
Love watching! I used to hike along with my husband all the time. Wish I could still. But, I'm old and frail now, so keep this going! I pretend like I'm on the hike! I am hiking vicariously thru you!
I kind of sat on the edge of my seat tonight watching this video and definitely heard the footsteps (twice). The wet rocks as well were very perilous. Happy you got out of that situation safely.
Those footsteps sounded very human,...almost exactly like yours. They sounded like they were only about 10 feet away from you from what I could tell. Anyway, love the video and thanks for all you do to bring us your adventures! Strength and honor
it was his wife. who do you think set up the cameras lol
@@cagneybillingsley2165 I believe he sets his camera's up, walks past them and then walks back to grab the Camera, he has mentioned it before in another video iirc
What's amazing is that you can clearly hear the footsteps on the video. Glad you're strapped.
It was pretty there, but rather creepy too.
Thanks for taking us along Luke.
The sound of the rain was comforting
The footsteps would freak me out! Imagine if it were dark. I'm curious to see if it happens the next time you go there.
I love watching and listening to rain videos to fall asleep to but this video sounds so much better than anyone I've ever seen the rain and ⚡ was so awesome great content 😊🎉
Great video Luke. Those footsteps behind you really creeped me out. I'd have gotten out of there quickly, hopefully before dark. Was followed for miles by a moose in Alaska once. It never charged me, but kept hanging back. I really looked over my shoulder a lot that day. Keep up the good work, my wife and I really enjoy your videos.
I LOVE those beautiful autumn leaves that have fallen to the ground and not turned brown yet.
Those leaves are stunning. I'm glad you were safe. Thanks for sharing your adventures!
This may sound dumb, but is it possible that those footsteps could be an echo of your own? Just a thought. 🦅
Happy Thanksgiving brother! I'm thankful that I can live vicariously through you and have the experience of being out in the woods again... hope you and your family have a great day!
Hey Luke,if you watch your video from 25.10 to 25.22 you definitely see something black moving from the left to right behind you
I didn't think I could be any more frightened about hiking alone when you mentioned hearing footsteps, that was until you added bears into the mix.
Being in a shallow cave or under a rock ridge in a lightning storm is pretty high risk. People think they are safe from strikes, but its just the opposite. When lightning jumps a gap, any object or person bridging the gap helps conduct the current. Because of this, being near the edges of overhangs is extremely dangerous during thunderstorms. This goes for setting up shelters under overhangs during thunderstorms. A lot of people just dont realize the danger.
Meh. A little lightning never killed anybody.
Nothing wrong with a little electroconvulsive therapy between friends!
We all need a charge up now and then.
The CEO for NEES was an avid hiker and was killed by a lightning strike.
@@michaelcschmitt People are killed by lightning all the time because they disregard how dangerous it is when above tree line or out hiking in storms. In Colorado, I learned lots of hazardous situations to avoid while backpacking and hiking in the mountains. Lightning kills more people than bears and Bigfoot (although Bigfoot and aliens make for more popular stories). 😜
Nice trick with the “footsteps.”
The scenery of last few videos that you made in the mountains reminds me of some of the scenes in "Last of the Mohicans" 1992. It was filmed in and around Asheville, NC. That country is absolutely beautiful.
Loved the movie!
@@suesmith776 My favorite book when I was a boy, still is. Now one of my favorite movies.
Oh man! I felt those footsteps even before you said it and I thought it was an echo of your footsteps or something like that. I am usually very intuitive and could tell many anecdotes about how listening to my guts saved me from many ills. The video and the
adventure were great, but that place...just left me with a bad feeling. I wouldn't go back if it were you. Thanks for the video Luke!
We all want more Susie. She is a wonderful person. Not like a lot of other females, you know kiddish and so on. She is a wonderful addition to the show. Love your videos keep up the good quality filming.
Watching this video right now....this is a good one! Wind, rain , creepy footsteps lol I love this guy! Lol
Whatever the footsteps were, they sounded like an echo of your own. - same cadence, same gait. Hope you all are having a wonderful Thanksgiving!
They did but he wasn't walking during some.
It is like a loop, I wonder if there is something which one cannot see but it is there.
agreed
Probably because it is his feet.. He obviously took the audio of him walking and duplicated it, then edited it back in to the video.. its pretty easy to do, I did something similar for a film project.
@@grimrot One thing I've learned from watching Luke's videos is that he's not a bullshitter. What you see is what you get with him. He has no need to add dramatics to his videos.
Could possibly be some sort of weird phenomena in the area that causes an echo of some sort and is echoing his footsteps back.
You most definitely hear it way more than once an it’s so clear even tho it’s heavy rain hitting the leaves an trees is decent loudness an I could him them perfect a few times during the vid
So beautiful forest. Bigfoot? Snakes? Bears? Such a lovely place 🐻🪱🦍🙂
I heard those steps..could have been your guardian angel watching over you..God bless.
I love the channel, have been following for some time, and never disappointed! Hope all is well Luke&Suzie, may the holidays be peaceful and full of blessings.
The footsteps were the ghost of the trail you were on
Ron Gregg, the founder of Outdoor Research, was an avid outdoorsman. In 2003 he was killed in a BC avalanche while skiing with friends. It was a tragedy, but I'm glad to see his company lives on and that you like the products they produce.
Those footsteps was a part of a horror movie for a second 🤣🤣🍃🍂
Great video Luke! Loved the sounds of the thunderstorm. I would have loved to camp out in weather exactly like that!
i'm used to see wonderfull views in your videos - but this one is so outstanding and captures the places and atmosphere sooooo nice!
What a beautiful part of the world to visit especially during a storm and definitely worthy of a return adventure. You might even run into who or what is lurking around up there.
Beautiful colours of the leaves.
Well that gave me a chill when you stopped and turned around. I heard footsteps when you stopped. Must be a ghost up on that mountain. Because it sounded like someone was following you. Great wet video.
Love all your videos, you need a sidekick like AP Camping has, true respect of the woods, salute to you, like Tony and Bruce
Lovely rain … I even love the sound
Thank you, Luke, for taking your time, effort, & equipment to share this adventure with lil ole MEeee.
Warm Regards from bone dry Reno, Nevada
Love watching your outdoor adventures. Keep up the good work. Watching from the uk
I have had friends ask me how to know if I had a bear in my campsite during the night. I told them, that if I hear something walking around, then it is a deer. But, if I didn't hear it walking around, then it was either a bear or a big foot. It usually takes them about a half a minute to get the fact that bears and big foot are quiet (or I have never had one in my campsite). I always love how vibrant the colors are in the rain.
Hi Luke! We people here in Finland are still to a large extent a kind of "forest people". We feel best when we can be out in the woods (preferably alone).🤨 The weather may be cold, rainy, or terrifyingly hot, because a little suffering is part of it!😬 Some adversity is necessary when you have spent the night in the forest, otherwise you have nothing "real" to tell your friends about. 😒 Savotta's products help and protect our miserable life out in nature.😑 We Finns like to suffer a little out in the forests. Why take any fireware with you, when you can freeze?!😁 Thanks for all the great videos! I wish you and your family all the best!😀👍😉
Remind me not to marry a Finn 😂
You Finns are known to be a bit mad 👍
Yea well, here we come in sliding on a shrimp sandwich.
I bought a Savotta pack. Great product!
Very scary, those footsteps ,dangerous path, thanks for sharing, take care xx
Hope your alright x
Love watching the videos slowly working my way through your other videos, cannot get enough of them
i'm so glad to hear you mention your handgun.i've always thought that surely you didn't go back in those woods and caves without any other protection
Between 05:16 and 05:17 there was a very faint noise that stuck out to me. I tried to amplify and remove the distortion but I could not find any reason for that noise.
Yeah I just posted the same thing, sounds like 2 or 3 words whispering, I can’t make out what it evens sounds like…
Okay, I got goosebumps, those footsteps sounded bipedal. Definitely not a deer. I've been in the woods with a bear, fresh wet paw prints on rocks in the creek I was crossing, and never heard anything.
Nice editing of the footsteps, although as someone with a bit of experience in the audio/video industry its very clearly your own footsteps.
if you wanna make it more believable at least change the balance or something lol
I never hiked without a Google walking stick and bear spray. It was fat with the sticks...was always able to find a really good one at the beginning of the hike...big fun.
I love you’re videos, so inspiring and beautiful to watch.
If there's 2 things I love its a beautiful nature trek & a good scare! Throw in the thunder, rain & sketchy walking trail & I'm in heaven! Loved that you braved the mess & danger to have lunch w/ us! Blessings
Great watch as usual.. as far as the steps.. sounded bipedal to me. Must have a been a person. Thanks for the hard work you do so we can come along and enjoy when you’re doing what you obviously love, hiking and camping.. very best 🍻
Mystery footfalls were awful short steps or a squatch
The footstep sounds are identical to your own footsteps. You edited and added them for shock effect. The word "handgun" was the best word that I heard, that's the most important gear that you could have.
We have a state park here in WI. that is called Devils Lake State Park with very similar rock type and outcroppings. If I didn’t know better I would of thought you were hiking there. :) Thanks for another great adventure!
I was thinking the same thing.
I was thinking how how much it reminded me of the lake superior trails here in Michigan
Those footsteps gave me the chills!😮
Beautiful awesome colors! Very unique amazing shots!! I totally loved every second of this!!!
I especially loved all of the intrigue!!!
You are totally entertaining in my eyes!!!
Rain videos are the best
Hey Luke, I recently stumbled across your channel while scrolling for something to look at. I really enjoy your adventures. I like the way you give the pros and cons of the gear and your location. I have subbed and continue to enjoy. Thank you.
Trail name is Devil's Throne & Creepy footsteps out of no where...gives me the creeps even at home here! Great video!
you walking a trail named “the Devil’s Throne” and you hear footsteps ? I would’ve turned right around 😂
Yes, Luke, distinct footsteps, scary!
I heard the footsteps at the end, too. Did it turn out to be anything?
Usually, places in the forest that have place names such as Devil's canyon, Ape Canyon, Monkey ridge, wood monster trail, etc. are inadvertently named after Big Foot because of numerous sightings and incidents. Most times in the 1700's and 1800's, people who had a sighting did not realize exactly what they had seen, so they named these areas after animals they had seen or were knowledgeable with. [ whatever they thought was similar to what they had seen or heard ]
Sounds bipedal and not moving the brush around. Just clear foot steps. I'm not saying anything, but this was very strange.
Chatham county vortex was also known as the devil’s trampling ground…
Prove it
@@steve8421 must be an area we're bears walk bipedal.
it certainly didn't have a 9 foot stride, unless it was a juvenile
Wow seaweed soup while camping In a storm sounds amazing. In Korea seaweed soup is basically a birthday tradition, normally you'd only have it once a year or when you have a cold.
Whoa. Footsteps kinda creepy … and the video really catches how it can feel being solo in the woods sometimes lol … but also captures why its so great too and worthwhile too! Great video! This is still my favorite channel. 🎉
You are brave being there on your own stay safe.
Great video. Would have made a better Halloween video than Thanksgiving, but very fun and exciting. You definitely have to go back. Maybe do an October overnight trip!
2 words to sum up your videos, “oh yeah”. 😂 keep up the great content.
ohh man your videos make my day! the ending of this video was cinematic
Beautiful!!! You are so brave !!!
Foot steps were nerve racking and scary. Love to see the trail on a non-rain fog day. On video trail looks a bloody red w/wicked veins(roots). Interesting trail name. Enjoyed the video!
This is one of the better hiking areas in your locality from what I can see. Lots of natural beauty. Hope to see more.
1:23 This sounds like a take on a river pool in Finnich Glen, Scotland called The Devil's Pulpit that has quite the backstory of it's own and is so "uniquely scenic" (seemingly blood red water with a natural stone altar in the middle) it was used as a set in Outlander where it was called The Liar's Spring. Great adventure video, once again.
It’s the high iron content in the rocks making the water red, it’s an incredible spot, just like much of Scotland many beautiful unique things to see 🏴 love our fabulous country. Luke would love it over here
Those footsteps would have had me spooked ,enjoy a good thunderstorm usually with a roof over my head, safe travels brother Luke thanks for bringing me along .
100% heard the footsteps. in the vid it sounded like a person on 2 feet but it could have been 4. weird for sure tho. thanks for the amazing vid and happy holidays
I envy you. I'm 63 now and physically broke down and can't get out there anymore. There is a trail nearby in Moreau state park that is 2.8 miles of incline. Bear city.
Excellent colors from all the leaves, the scenery looks awesome. Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃🍽
That sounded like human footprints & they were behind you going up & on the way down..that was creepy 😲
I wonder if Luke has ever heard / researched the Missing 411 phenomenon and looked into just how many people have vanished in the area he was just hiking in 🤔
I think about that often when watching his videos.
Wait the same area he’s in?
It amazes me that people have to be taught how to walk. Oh, well. You are an awesome teacher! 😀
Luke and Bigfoot share a Thanksgiving together
My heritage is Cherokee but that was five generations ago; I've wondered if any of your videos have been on the Qualla Boundary land (please don't refer to it as a Reservation, it is not) but there are some of the most beautiful areas on that and over toward Maggie Valley. I know you have mentioned the Pisgah often and I think that is part of the Northern border. Love to see the two of you enjoy our mountains, waterfalls and trails. Too old ( 72 ) to go do it over but seeing you and Susan do that would be wonderful
Yet another superb video, the content, and the music as always… and this episode kept me on the edge of my seat to be honest! Did you figure out what was following you? It sounded like two feet for sure…. Yikes 😬
Omg I heard this footsteps behind you Luke that was scary! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family
I'm fascinated by the personalities I see. When you talked about saying "Oh yeah" a lot when you eat, it reminded me of my father in the way that mealtime has importance, and the comfort of the routines it brings. Also, the way you tell stories in a way that helps me feel like I was right there with you. You also remind me of him in the cautious way that you approach dangerous situations, being very cognizant of the dangers and possibilities and working hard to be prepared for anything that may happen. While he could be a creature of comfort and routines, he could also push himself to endure when necessary and you demonstrate that often. I also appreciate that you like to push yourself out of your comfort zone frequently in order to explore new places, new things and of course new gear which is awesome. I sense that sometime in the past, you've probably struggled to know what gear to buy in this quickly changing world where the old standards may no longer be the best or even available anymore and were frustrated a few times and that I'm guessing that's probably what led you on a journey to creating this channel. To find out for yourself and to share with others so that others may benefit and for that I'm grateful because there are so few really doing what you do. Thank you.
Love your videos, spooky foot step, to close for comfort. Be careful, be safe from Houston TX.
We live in Upstate New York in the Finger Lakes Region and we are surrounded by State Forest which we go to all the time to fish to hike to do what you do. We get away from the noise of life. We don't camp overnight but we set up day camps and hang out all day whether it's spring, fall or winter. We tend to avoid summertime due to all of the insects. My personal favorite is in the winter with a big roaring fire.
Seeming as you asked, I think it was the sound of your own footsteps edited onto the video. Fancied adding a little dash of suspense into narrative, eh? 😎👍
no.....I don't think he would do that,
@@breezyhoneybee1 why? Because you like him. It's clearly his own footsteps being looped over the video. I've been a fan for a year and am just as surprised as you. Do you also believe he leaves cameras everywhere as he walks past them? Or does he edit him having to walk back to the camera to pick it up. He's a youtuber, nothing more.
He doesnt strike me as being a dishonest man.
@@debbianderson1687 dishonesty has many layers. By inventing a narrative where he splices in footsteps into the editing process so he can send chills up peoples spines is mostly harmless. It was such an amateurish attempt though and the problem is he's pretending to hear those footsteps, when in reality he hears nothing. That IS dishonest. Because I've been a fan for over a year and when I saw this episode, it made me not a fan. I bought into the wild camping in snow and storms etc. Now I'm thinking, did he really stay overnight? On any camping trips? Or did he film a couple of hours, go back to a nice warm bed, then come back the next morning to film some more. I prefer authenticity. It's just my brand of coffee. When youtubers pull stunts and pretend they're real, that's Tasters Nasty right there.
Luke is a good person though, that I can tell. Maybe he needs to decide on a direction and stick to it. Go down the story style videos where he edits for maximum effect and excitement. Or does he go down the truly authentic route, and risk having a few videos being "boring" where nothing particularly happens except a good man enjoying the wilderness at it's most serene. Another youtuber called Livin the Van life goes down the latter, and I love it. Even the videos where hes chopping wood, making a fire and making some food. It the right setting, perfect!
@@thomascochrane3100 i can see you put a great deal of thought in this. Just remember please, everything is just an assumption. The truth has not been established.
Incredible place under the rock. Good luck!! Have anice time!!
Footsteps sounded exactly like yours. I’m guessing it was actually your footsteps edited back in. Definitely sounded bi-pedal, and not only that but the same timing as yours and same heaviness..Also sounded like the exact same surface. It sounded just like your exact footfall on the exact trail with puddles etc..a Bigfoot would have a different cadence, sound noticeably heavier/bigger and different cadence..same for a bear or anything else.
Exactly!!!
Lov3 when you do storm videos. The sound of thunder and rain when laying in bed is music to my ears. About those foot steps??? Gave me an odd feeling.( one I can't explain) . Liked the fact you showed no fear. Thank you for taking us along with you . Be safe out there. Peace and Guidance always .
Backpacking alone in those desolate areas are just too dangerous and you should always have another person with you , just in case . And while a handgun is better than nothing , I would recommend , if your State allows it , to take a look at the Mossberg Shockwave . It is a 12 gauge with a 14 " barrel and birds head grip and is classified as an " other " rather than a shotgun . They make plenty of scabbards that would strap to your backpack so it can be carried easily . A 12 gauge would be most comforting especially when hearing footsteps following you . A 12gauge will handle two legged predators as well as a four legged predator .
Best UA-cam has to offer on outdoor life.
This video was outstanding. Catching those footsteps on audio was so strange. The way you ended it caused a jumping to the edge of my seat emotional response from me. (Yelling NOOOOO at the t.v.) 🤣 weird.
Thank You, for taking us along for this trip. Best wishes from Germany.
I got further into the video and DEFINITELY heard those footsteps, now that was crazy. I’m actually in Aw at how clear, close, and bi-pedal those steps sounded.
A lot of the places with these strange names are what we witches/mediums call “Liminal Spaces” areas where the electromagnetic field has more frequently occurring anomalies that allow for strange things to occur such as time travel, inter-dimensional mingling, and even seeing strange entities/people/creatures/cryptids etc. I’d chop it up to being a bear except for the fact that it happened even after trying to speed up the distance between you and “it”.
Luke, this was a cool hike and lunch under those rocks in the rain. Thanks!
Never run towards the noise! Might as well hide behind the chainsaws! And yes, footsteps were audible
Wow Luke🤔
What ever was following you was two footed, it sounded like an upright being.
It's always fantastic watching your video's as you are always at one with your surroundings and nature but I noticed on your way back to your truck you quickened your pace and didn't do your usual camera shot's, I've never seen you look so on edge and I've had the pleasure of watching all your video's 👍🏻
Your reviews are brilliant 👍🏻 and was hoping you might be able to do one on footwear, I'm here in Norfolk, England and I know our makes might be different but your advice is always spot on.

interesting, that definitely sounded bipedal didn't it? I heard it the first time as well. Odd how loud they were coming through too. At 25:34 it almost looks like something crosses the trail way behind you.
