you're the only guy i know of that sets up camp and leaves because the weather wasnt bad enough haha love it take care luke
Right, I also doubt many people would consider a mild winter Lame. That is why we all enjoy Luke and his attempt to push the limits adventures.
No, he left because the weather was worse. That and he planned very poorly setting up camp without a nearby water source and relying on it to maybe snow for water. Definitely not best practices. I love Luke and this channel but not his finest hour imo.
I love how this man runs towards winter storms!
what winter storm?
And he is always close to his truck. So he really isn't major miles out in the wilderness.
I personally don’t care that much about hiking camping and stuff, but watching this guy , what he goes through in order to be professional is cool and relaxing and obviously inspiring
In Moncton, NB, Canada the big storm we had in the winter of 1992 dropped 5 1/2 feet of snow. Drifts completely covered houses. For weeks after, all the sidewalks were tunnels and store spray painted their names on the snow so people could find the stores.
Now, that’s a snow storm!!!
I found your channel right before the pandemic hit because I was ramping up my outside time and I found your gear reviews helpful. I also found them more informative and enjoyable to watch during the pandemic than the trash on TV. Thanks to you and your channel I've had several comfortable backcountry overnights.
I swear the sound of a zipper on a tent is one of my favourite sounds. It just says relaxation and family time to me.
The comments after the credits and the dancing at 47:01 are amazing haha thank you for everything you do for us viewers Luke, you're the man!
If I was stranded in the middle of nowhere, there’s no one who I would like to have with me is you Luke . I know that I would come out safe and sound ,say hello to Suzi from me , john from Sheffield in England Great Britain UK . I thoroughly enjoy watching your adventures great stuff my friend, and I look forward to seeing more of your videos, all the best mate
I love this, I always have thought the same. I am also in the UK well Scotland. I’m not even really an outdoors person at all, but I love watching Luke’s uploads. I love bad weather too, I always have thought wow if the apocalypse came I would absolutely be hunting down luke and family lol - he would be an amazing person to keep you safe in the wilderness.
I’m also from the UK, Norfolk. Just love these videos, I feel like I’m on the Adventure to.
When we lived in Colorado we were in Boulder, just at the foot of the mountains. My first couple of weeks there I struggled with the altitude and when we went up the mountains that was a whole different scenario. Living in the UK we are at sea level, Boulder is a mile above and then 10,000 feet up the mountain, phew. 😳
I find quite amazing how all those different objects you were using during the camping fit in that backpack and, while no doubt it was heavy, you were easily able to walk from and to the vehicle with it. The joys of lightweight materials.
I call it the "Tardus" backpack. 😆
All cosied up watching .... I really look forward to seeing you and Susie on another trip. The longer films are great. Feels like we are there with you. Thankyou❤🇬🇧
My whole family love watching you and Suzie. Keep on doing what you are doing....we love it!
Cheers to you Luke! Thanks for all the work you do to keep us entertained!
I watch your videos all the time & learn so much. Stay warm!!!
I love owls and to hear one hoot WOW!! That owl sounds right above you.
Luke thanks 😊 🙏 for sharing the trip inspite of the disappointment of no snow you took with a slight blow to the chin no big deal, thought you and Susie was funny 😄 with the serious moves 🤣 😂 😆. It's nice to alway look forward to the out of the ordinary 😀 😄 👍 😊.
Luke, you are a walking encyclopedia. Full of important safety information. Appreciate you do much sharing.
Thank you Luke and Suzie for being a friend to all of us people out here. Thank you for what you do. Thank you for not trying to sell us stuff. You understand how it can be. All your adventures make me so happy and I can't wait to go and have a safe adventure myself. Just wish I wasn't alone on that. Maybe could you or Suzie do a video for people who are solo all the time? Like what things would be safe for a solo person. And for a solo woman that wants to go out camping? I see Suzie do it but not sure I have as much knowledge as she does. Thanks in advance. Maybe she could do a video for us solo ladies.
I always enjoy reading your little messages at the end. I'm glad you got a few inches of snow. Love the dance moves 😂
Seeing you strike the wooded match made me relive my childhood. The old Farmers Matches with the white tips, my brother and I had an air pellet rifle and stuck the match down inside the rifle with tip going in last, gave it 3 pumps and shoot at trees, garage and concrete and the match would make a huge bang.
I was at Cherry Point MCAS North Carolina in that storm of 1973. I counted at least 24 cars and trucks in the ditch on the way to Base. There was at least a half dozen Chevrolet Corvettes ( mostly Officers vehicles) in the ditch. My Squadron was the only Squadron to work and we used a RF-4B & EA-6A TO CLEAR THE SNOW SO WE COULD WORK. When they turned up the engines of those planes huge chuncks of snow flew out. It was a crazy day.
Hello from Oklahoma! I love your videos! Especially camping in storms. Keep'em coming.
Love the dancing at the end. That was great.
Luke you're the best! I have learned a lot from you videos. Thank you 🙏
Thanks for expanding the world of so many of us who can't manage it ourselves. Stay safe.
WOW !! I LOVE THE FLASH BACK MOMENT !!!!
I so look forward to your videos. I am 78 years old. I can't get around very well. I loved camping. Did a lot when me and husband was younger. He passed away a year ago. So young man you give us older ones a great joy watching your videos. This is my 3rd year. God bless you and your wife.
You should melt the ice for extra drinking water. The owl is cool. Hello from snowy Minnesota. Love your channel ❤
Yes, to hear that owl while you're camping is cool. It's another story when you hear it home and you have a few chickens that insist on roosting in a tree instead of the coop.
Luke you" re enjoying the flavor of the Caribbean( PR). Love so much you videos
Greetings from Orlando, Fl
I can never say it enough! I love this guy and his channel 😁😁😁
I love your videos. I can stay in and watching your adventures. With my health condition it hard for me to leave my apartment
I totally enjoy watching you in the adventure of life. Both you and Susie are great dancers🎉 Keep up the good memories
I live in a rural area and have an owl in my yard. In the evening, he follows my cat around because she runs mice out of the equipment shed and they run from her in the pasture. Between my cat and the owl, I never have mice in the house!
Thank you Luke for what you do! S&H
Sounds like the owls around our yard. Cool.
I just finished a trip with the same weather. You feel pretty vulnerable sitting alone in a tent with weather like that
The impressive barred owl. Who cooks for you? Who cooks for you all? Love their song.
Been watching your videos for years…love the way how comfortable you are talking to the camera ,you sound so natural and make the videos easy on the ears. It’s great hearing snippets of childhood ventures and family life with the odd appearance of your lovely lady..
Look forward to many more videos
Suzy
(Liverpool ,England)
Hahaha, that dance interlude was hilarious! I wonder if Suzie snuck it in there without Luke knowing? LMAO.
We call our flex fancy Nancy ase it has all the bells and whistle. Beauty on the inside .like your show not flashy but packs a punch.
Your videos are so relaxing! Love the music too, it makes it look like a movie. The last half of the video I laughed so hard, you are one hilarious guy! My son and I look forward to your new adventures!
Hey I really like watching this weather on utube. I didn't know if you ever watch this channel. Semper Fi
LOL!!! I love the flashback dance😂
You shouldn’t be bummed out because of snow. We enjoy watching every trip.
you would have loved the ice storm we got in Michigan this week
You are so right Luke Ice storms are very dangerous. Here in East Texas 2 weeks ago we had a huge ice storm that weighed down the gigantic oak trees so heavily not only did their branches shatter like glass and they completely up rooted crashing down on cars homes etc.
Let's hope Susie can conquer this Colorado mountain this time. I always enjoy your adventures. ❤️
Good afternoon from Syracuse NY brother and thank you for sharing your adventures and equipment testing
it was good to have breakfast and coffee with you, sorry no snow.
That dancing cracked me up. Reminded me of a scene from the film Simple Men.
16:19 owls
owls like to follow you through the woods while walking at dusk and dawn. they do this not because they're interested in the person, but what you might scare up in the underbrush. i love watching them go from tree to tree watching the forest floor for mice snakes or whatever else might be there. when they see something they can grab they're super quick to snatch it up and head back to their favorite branch to eat.
the call you were hearing is an owl trying to talk to another owl. probably their mate.
Thanks for the knowledge! I love predatory birds and owls are one of my favorites. So mysterious.
The owls are not what they seem
@@mccandless1many times they are things that mimic owls...
@@PaulC001 that is definitely owl to owl communication.
Thanks, Travis, for sending Luke Real Turmat to dangle in front of us! 😆
I love your show, I watch you everyday..oh yeah! ..Be safe Luke, say hi to Susie from Canada
Death wish coffee is so smooth you'll love it❤
Living in Australia, I didn’t know what ice rain was until after watching this adventure
Love the flashback
That will make for an interesting camp experence
Sending best wishes from North Wales United Kingdom
I just love your channel!!! I learn so much from you!!! 🤍
Love the camping videos you do a awesome job explaining your equipment and techniques. You always talk to the viewers as we are right there 👍👍.
I enjoyed the video very much quiet soothing. like the rain hitting on the plastics I’m sitting here when it would come on I would lean back and just listen to it soothing anyway thanks for the video I’ll get you on the next one
If that were to turn to snow, you would need snow shoes to help you walk. Looks like you had a good time anyway. Thanks for sharing
Wow love owls ❤
We called that storm super storm 93. Me and my family were traveling right behind it. There were HUGE limbs blocking the road and mountains of snow piled everywhere.
I remember that storm in '93. Unfortunately, I was stuck at the hospital I worked at for 3 nights. We were sleeping all over the place whenever we could get the chance to.
We had an ice storm in Michigan yesterday and all night. I'm surrounded by huge trees and now I have huge limbs on my garage, in my backyard, and one fell on my roof. Then today we have 50 degree weather and it was pouring in my yard without the rain. I've never seen anything like it!
Nice music while you are eating supper. :)
Absolutely love your channel ❤️❤️❤️
Living in Holtwood Pennsylvania along the Susquehanna River in 1995-96 snow event that lasted for a week. After all said and done I remember a total of 4 feet of snow fell in my area. Of course being along a to Susquehanna River added fuel the the storm. I was literally stranded in my home for over a week. It was sink or swim in that situation. Live to survive be prepared
Totally agree with your comments about rescue..touchy that..but on point! Learning a lot from u!
Great video, thanks 👍
Great video. I too love a good storm in the woods. Very comforting
We had our storm with 17 inches of snow and wind. I always keep an emergency kit inside my vehicle and I’m glad I did. My vehicle broke down that morning and no tow truck till 2:30 that afternoon.
Doesn't matter what adventure you go on you're extremely Susie astic adventures and I love it just be careful and God bless bro be careful strength and honor
The Barred Owl, commonly called the Hoot Owl, is very common in our parts of the Carolinas. I have 2 nested pairs that are around our home and some mornings when I leave for work, 0515, they will be talking to each other. I can call them up and they will come to investigate the sound. They are very territorial and don't like hoots they don't know.
Love your videos … I hope you and your family are doing well
Looks like another fun adventure!
I agree with you. This winter has been lame. I live in Central Maine and the majority of "storms" have been sleet or freezing rain. And any snow we get is pathetic at best. At least how real snow storms used to be lol
Awesome video!
great episode
Awesome video man.
Absolutely awesome adventure, Luke! It would behoove beginner to intermediate backpackers to watch your adventures as a learning tool. Your gear is first class..Love your outer shell and the color. Hilleberg's attention to detail in tent making never ceases to amaze me. The strap loops securing the poles and rain cover to the guy lines should be a feature on every tent with exoskeleton poles. Carrying a backup stove is crucial in cold weather camping. I van camp as a senior and still carry my military stove as a backup to two single burner Colemans. BTW the flashback was cool and hilarious! I look forward to Susie conquering the mountain pass in Colorado.
Dude,Be careful out there family Man !!
Hi Luke. Love your videos ❤
Another great adventure. I have to say, you have really made me rethink about what I would consider a good camp, weather wise…. In a good way of course. And… of course…. Still here as usual…. Isn’t that the way luck goes? Lol….. Best wishes to that hiker, hope all is well…… glad you made it home… Susie is truly a blessing. You are a lucky man….. Oh…My…. God……. What has been seen, cannot be unseen! Lmao😂😂😂
hey Luke if you had brought a GRAYL, you could have made a catchment point off that awesome dyneema tarp. The GRAYL filter catches any coating that may shed off anything. You could replenish your water no worry that way. I don't go into the bush without mine.
You're a funny dude Luke! Keep rockin!
In March, 1970, in Joplin, Missouri, the weather man called for snow flurries. Three feet of snow later...lol
Sounded like a Barred Owl with it's call: "Who cooks for you?".
Hey, Luke! You should do another trip with that amazing (and rare) Fjallraven tent, would be great to see.
I'm surprised that you didn't melt the I've and then filter it through a handkerchief.
I stayed all the way to the end. Ocassionally some interesting stuff after the wolf pack recognition. Glad you made it home ok.
Epic dancing.
Cool video brother
You need to look up Wyoming, PBS a blizzard of 1949 watch that I think your truly have a new appreciation for how people actually survived back then
Hi Luke, here in Wales we get fools caught out in the Welsh mountains during summer weather wearing t-shirt, shorts and flip flops when the weather suddenly changes usually with kids in tow.
The woods don't look so great in the wet and windy weather. Spring is on the way. Until your next adventure atb Taff 🤠👊
If you can believe it, I remember BOTH snow storms!
The flashback 😂 ❤❤❤
wow @38:45 weather can be someone unpredictable but just like you said it's about having fun :) it was fun watching this video and feeling like i'm right there :) cool video again bro :) take care :)
Love your channel Luke it’s kept me from buy junk gear
Don't punch on the side of a tent, it will drip water inside. It breaks surface tension.
