Man, you always make the best-looking food, Xander! I live in central Kentucky, and last week, it was super cold here, too. We had low temps between -5 and -10F. High temps in the low teens, with more than 6 inches of snow. I can't imagine camping out in those temps! You're a beast, bro 💪🥶

Tip for winter camping (from someone thats been in the military in the north): try to wear as little clothes inside the sleeping bag as possible. I see youre wearing multiple layers which dont really work with the bag. Just wear a slim base layer and let the sleeping bag do its work, you dont need your jacket inside it
That is counter intuitive and against the laws of physics. If you want to be warmer, you want more layers, not less. The sleeping bag is just another layer of insulation, similar to clothing. Your advice would be good, if you just wanted to warm up the sleeping bag for some reason, but that's not the point. The point is to stay warm yourself. I do agree that in those temps, with the new bag he should be just fine in only base layer.
@@Oemssibut this is what you can also find in lots of videos as well as sleeping bag manuals - wear a base layer, warm yourself before entering the sleeping bag (eg. by tightening your muscles) and if needed, use a chemical warmers or a bottle with hot water. They do not advise multiple layers cause you will sweat = produce moisture = get wet = get cold 🤷🏻♂️
Yeah, all that is good advice. If you wear too many layers and start to sweat, that is not good for the insulating properties of the sleeping bag. But still, the principle more layers = more warmth applies. If you do all that and are still cold, more layers will provide more warmth, not less.@@Dexter00000
Imo the fjällräven polar -30 bag is superior in design to this. The fur covering the face area is really amazing for stopping the wind getting in. And also cheaper (in Sweden at least) 1420 of 800fp vs 1050 900fp in size large. So id imagine the theoretical warmth to be similar. But as you say, if the baffles suck then that will diminish any perceived benefits from the higher quality down. I'd highly recommend the fjällräven sack. I've used it here in northern Sweden down to minus 38 paired with an exped dura 6 and some foam mats under the open sky with light wind. I've also heard good things about the thermarest polar ranger.

DUDE! 1.1 MILL views! UNREAL! What an episode, what a reception! Congrats man! EPIC.
The legend himself
Watching after the 10 months of video uploaded but it was really good keep it up man
the world doesn't work alone, kindness still is alive, that's good to know!
Glad you’re having such a great time! I live in Las Vegas Nv . We freeze at any temperature below 70 deg F!
Thanks for sharing!
Have you've seen Jason Malone in there?
Wild, we slept there the following night and wondered who was brave enough to do the same. Fun!
Something about watching these videos from the warmth of my bed is so satisfying! 😂
You are a hearty soul Xander, and with such a positive attitude!!! I don't know if that part is just for the camera, but you have a great outlook!! Thanks for sharing your FRIGID adventure!! One thing for sure, you ate well!! Stay safe, healthy and warm!
This was so therapeutic to watch, I’m in central London right now and you gave me a magical escape. Thank you ❤️
Thanks for sharing this Xander. Some lovely shots of the peaceful snowfall at the beginning there. Safe travels!
As a lay on my couch warm and comfortable. I’d rather be living my life the way you’re doing… Massive respect to you and stay safe
I love watching your videos as bed time stories. The beauty of the woods, snapping fires and your cheeky comments are great. You might try whole delcotta squash instead of butternut. You can eat the skin. You might like fig jam as someone else suggested. Thanks for all your videos!
You cooking better in Nature then me in my kitchen, i love it!
Nice Video 😁
Yeah; these camping videos make me hungry..
I love watching these videos from the comfort of my home.
Makes me want to go camping! Last time I got a chance to camp it was -15f here. Didn’t have a fire, and slept under a tarp. Loved it!!!
I like how there's like no sound or echo from the trees falling because there's so much snow it acts as cushion
It was indeed cold, the snowstorm a couple weeks back hit Richmond pretty hard. Was a fun time though!
11:54 me when it’s time to be productive

That gentle "thwood" kinda thump when he dropped the log into the snow was so satisfying.
Weekend and a new Xander video. Great🎉🎉
Greetings from Poland Xander! I love your videos man. I find them so inspirational and calming. Definitely going to spend a night out in the wild this year!
I can't believe how much grub that you can put away brother, as always enjoy watching the videos
He's got to replenish all those calories he burns cutting wood and getting his camp set up. If I ate as much as Xander does, I'd be as big as a barn 😂🤣
Finally a video worth my time! Love it.
Note to self: prepare the fresh ingredients ahead of time because they’re gonna be frozen anyway.
Tip for winter camping (from someone thats been in the military in the north): try to wear as little clothes inside the sleeping bag as possible. I see youre wearing multiple layers which dont really work with the bag. Just wear a slim base layer and let the sleeping bag do its work, you dont need your jacket inside it
Xander, please try this; this would be interesting experiment on back to back nights with the same bag and similar temperatures.
I'm from India , and I always watch your videos before sleeping, love you bro🤗🤗
lets go!
Honestly, that's living! And i see you don't mess around. Prepare great food for yourself. Living like a king!
15:39 FIRE IN DA HOLE 🔥🔥🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🕳️🕳️
Definitely going to try the pizza ideas out. They all looked amazing!
Every frame of the video is wallpaper worthy, truly magnificent ✨️
