Fun story! In 2022 my buddy and I were playing together in a local metal band in Calgary, Alberta, and received an email from someone stating they were the tour manager for Dragonforce. Apparently Herman Li saw a video of our band on Instagram and wanted to have us up on stage with them to play a song. We initially laughed it off, thinking it was a joke, but after a few more emails back and forth realised it was the real deal. So when the tour came to our city, we got to soundcheck with Dragonforce and hang with them for a bit. They were amazing people, and Herman was one the kindest, nicest dudes I've ever met. We ended up jamming with them onstage to a version of the Farmville theme hahaha. It was so much fun, and such a cool experience. Gotta give them props for doing things like that for local bar-level musicians.

That was thr short version of the song they made for Radio and MTV, the original track is over 7 minutes long with lots of solos. It is pure magic. If you can find the uncut version you should give it a listen to
Saw them live in '05. During one intermission, both guitar players, bassist, and keyboardist(w/key-tar) all stood in a circle facing each other. They proceeded to start playing the lower half of *their* instrument with their left hand all the while their right hand is reaching over playing the neck of the instrument to their right... together.. in a circle.. for like a 2 minute straight solo. Blew my everloving mind 🤯
Everyone only focus on the Guitar and the Singer but nobody ever shows the drummer some love..Bro already Achieve The Super saiyan God in this Drumming. its freaking 7:20 minutes of FAST DRUMMING. Holy moly~
It's about time! This song is one of my favorite metal songs, but the full album version is even better. It's even in stereo, too. 😉😆 Edit: They cut out a lot! Yeah this edited version is not it. I don't like how they cut out the bridge after the guitar solo. The album version is 7 minutes 22 seconds long.
Needless to say, this track is much covered by budding guitarists. One you might like to check out is by Tina S who at the time was just 14 going on 15. Then, check out the reaction Herman Li did to it where he explains how Tina produced her version and managed to integrate both his and Sam’s guitar duet into a single performance. The number of views on Tina’s version is a clue to how astonishing it is.
Hi Aileen! Nice to see you again! You FINALLY reacted to this song. Now I have to BEG you to react to Junna do her drum cover of this song. Think Kawaii like Babymetal, and bad ass like this song is. Dragonforce started in the UK and debuted in 2003 w/ 'Valley of the damned'... followed by 2nd album 'Sonic firestorm' in 2004... It was their 3rd album 'Inhuman rampage' in 2005 that yielded the hit 'Through the fire and the flames'... got Dragonforce associated w/ 'Guitar Hero' video game... and the album sold gold in the US (half million copies) The 'power metal' genre that Dragonforce fall into involves high vocals... lyrics about medieval fantasy and futuristic themes, usually about battles and warriors... melodic twin-lead guitars... fast double bass drumming... Dragonforce is arguably the fastest of the genre, which include bands like - Helloween... Gamma Ray ... Rhapsody of Fire (or Rhapsody) ... Stratovarius... Primal Fear... etc. The band is essentially the 2 Dragonforce guitarists - Herman Li and Sam Totman... Original singer was Z.P. Theart... he was fired in 2010 after the tour for their 4th album 'Ultra beatdown' (2008)... After 'Guitar Hero' was discontinued, it affected Dragonforce's popularity. Still, Dragonforce persisted w/ Marc Hudson (vocals) joining in 2012 for the album 'The Power within'... Keyboardist Vadim Pruzhanov left Dragonforce in 2017 and was not replaced on tour. The band usually plays to pre-recorded keyboards. The current Dragonforce members (w/ Hudson, Li and Totman) are drummer Gee Anzalone (drums) and Alicia Vigil (bass)... Dragonforce's music can come off as 'cheesy' w/ sonic excess. Still, the band is still recording and touring successfully. Other Dragonforce songs - 'Operation Ground & Pound' ... 'Heroes of our time' ... 'Valley of the damned' ... 'Cry Thunder'... 'Three hammers'... 🔥🔥🤘🤘

You need to check out Tina S cover of this song. Herman Li reacted to it on his channel and was so blown away by her performance he gave her an open invite to play with him anytime even on stage. Tina S is a prodigy she played this song (both guitar parts together) and she was 16. Definitely review her cover she is so well known her youtube video cover of this song has 31 Million views! And you get a good look with the camera angles of her playing it in her video of how incredibly difficult this song is.
Hi Aileen 😊 This DragonForce reaction is completely awesome.... Not only the band but you. Yes, the muscle memory is completely unmatched. I see major influences both in guitar work and in vocals. Yes, the drummer was getting a complete workout keeping the tempo for the guitar work. I watched the original video (2005) first, and then other performances of theirs both live and videos. As I was watching their live performances and videos, I noticed the bassist is a lady... Alicia Vigil, and she has been with the band since 2002 and yet she is not in the video of Through the Fire and Flames. Then I watched your reaction. Quite honestly, this reaction reminds me so much of the bands that you were reacting to in the beginning of your channel... bands from Europe, Scandinavia and Britain and I loved them so much as did the fans of those bands from their comments to you....they truly love you. The live version of these and many other songs are just amazing. I'm talking about songs like: Fury of the Storm, Operation ground and pound and of course this one
Definitely check out some of their Live performances. They really do rip on stage just like they do in their music videos. They’ve changed singers and drummers since this video, but the band doesn’t skip a beat.
During the dual guitar solos where they go back n forth and one guy is drinking a beer while the other plays. We who believe, the moment beer beer guy sets hi beer down to solo his guitat to pick it back up is the defining moment of the meme "Hold my Beer."
Another great band, if you have t heard them, is Extreme. Their most well known song is ironically an acoustic ballad, More Than Words, which I think was made as sort of a meme back before memes were a thing in the 80’s, but they’re more known for funk or glam metal, and one of my favourite songs of theirs is called Play with Me, and there’s some nutty guitar playing on that one too. They recently released a new album after a really long hiatus, and I haven’t listened to it yet, but everybody is talking about the guitar playing in the song Rise.
I remember Saturday night when this debuted on headbangers ball mtv2 I was sitting in front of my tv with my jaw straight up dropped! My life changed at that moment.
In this song the drummer is Dave Mackintosh, and for me he was a better Dragonforce drummer than Gee Anzalone now. Gee is very precise and fast trummer, but he's machine-like and softer kick style sound's somekind of weaker than the Dave's sharp and raw playstyle.
"Gamma Ray- Dethrone Tyranny" "Stratovarius- Speed of Light" "Rhapsody- Emerald Sword" have way better guitar play than this song. Not saying this is bad, is pretty good and catchy but it has no depth or is hard by any means. Only Guitar Hero boys says is hard.
Yeah, Dragonforce are something else alright. And even nowadays they still got it! Their songs have mellowed out a little bit, not every single song is a 7-minute adrenaline rush now, but they still have some seriously impressive guitars and honestly an even better vocalist nowadays (also they have lyrics that you can actually understand what they're talking about now!) Also fun fact: the way guitarist Herman does that pacman sound from the start of the bridge, is by pulling out the whammy-bar and running it over the strings. He released a video years ago basically showing off how he does all these strange sounds with his guitar
This video brought to you by Head & Shoulder and Pantene....lmao Thank you for mentioning the drummer as most people are in awe of the guitar playing (which is mind blowing) but they forget that the drummer must also keep up with them!
I remember hearing this song for the first time in 2006, right as the "Inhuman Rampage" album released. I had a desk job at the time and was allowed to have headphones and music as long as I didn't get too distracted to work. A friend of mine pointed me to DragonForce's official MySpace page (yeah) and I hit the play button. Seven minutes later (full version from the album) my heart was racing like I had drunk two monsters mixed with pre-workout. Then, when I took off my headphones I realized how loudly I was breathing. Good times 😂
I saw this line up twice live and they were flawless, and ridiculously good. I found it difficult to imagine the intensity of the musicianmanship. Ridiculous talent.
Crazy thing! All the sounds you hear like the Pac-Man noise and the crazy noises are all made by the guitar no keyboard all just straight up guitar 😅 it’s awesome!!
Been to a festival once and there was actually no band playing right now which i was a fan of, but Dragonforce was playing and i knew this song, and I just went to the festival area to see them play this song and they nailed it with a 1000% of perfection. Not a big fan of symphonic power metal, but man... these guys are masterclass playing live.
Speaking of viking, have you heard of the brothers of metal? They are awesome, and I believe they should be out there more than they are. So if you decide to check out a video I would suggest the "Kaunaz Dagaz" video. They are slightly funny and they tell tales of viking stories through metal.
Just got introduced to this song today by a friend and really glad to see you had done a reaction for it. This song completely blew my mind 🤯 If you haven’t heard it “Valley of the damned” is another great song by Dragonforce that will blow your mind 🙂
Another Queen song is “these are the days of our lives” the final on screen appearance of Freddie before his death. And you can see just how much the sickness took a toll on him physically. And the lyrics ring true today 30 some years later.
Wait till you hear Lovebites to describe them as unmatched LMFAO Can hardly wait for you to see them also Herman Li when Lovebites toured with them wore a white dress claiming to be the 6th member of Lovebites it was hilarious.
It’s cool that you’re learning bass. I’d recommend learning some Black Sabbath, Alice In Chains, and Iron Maiden. All legendary bass players that have done timeless stuff
Some fun notes! - This is actually the abridged version of the music video -- the full version runs 7 minutes long (not 5), though the insane guitar solos halfway through remain mostly intact. - There's a meme cover called "Through the Tables and Memes". Herman Li himself has jammed along to that particular music video. - A UA-camr named Jorge did a "recorder cover" in 2011 (and an improved version in 2021). - A pair of UA-camrs (the Moreander Brothers) did an "accordion cover" in 2022 -- and they didn't just replicate the song, but the _entire music video._ - Herman Li has uploaded his own reaction videos to other people covering their song.
I saw these guys live back in 2019 and it was absolutely fantastic! Now you’ve done Through the fire and flames, please you have to react to Fury of the storm live!
(DragonForce channel) - DragonForce Drummer Reacts to Insane Japanese Girl Drum Cover (El Estepario Siberiano channel) - THIS GIRL IS THE FINAL BOSS OF DRUMS - Through the fire and flames.
This song (on Guitar Hero) was the source of a large percentage of the profanities that I have said in my life. I've always just sat there in awe of how fast their hands move as they play.

Good song. Also there's been other ppl who FC'd this song on Guitar hero Aileen. 🤘
Wait till you hear Lovebites to describe them as unmatched LMFAO Can hardly wait for you to see them also Herman Li when Lovebites toured with them wore a white dress claiming to be the 6th member of Lovebites it was hilarious.
They were my very first ''rock'' concert back in 2008 with Sabaton opening for them.
Still one of the best concerts I've ever been to, to this day
It’s cool that you’re learning bass.
- A pair of UA-camrs (the Moreander Brothers) did an "accordion cover" in 2022 -- and they didn't just replicate the song, but the _entire music video._
- Herman Li has uploaded his own reaction videos to other people covering their song.
As a bass player: you might shall look out for Manowars "Flight of the Bumblebee". Just to hear what a bass can do. Nice reaction btw. :o)
I saw these guys live back in 2019 and it was absolutely fantastic! Now you’ve done Through the fire and flames, please you have to react to Fury of the storm live!
I've listened to them years ago my dear ❤😂😊
A very speedy track! Pls check out the cover by Tina S
Some other great Dragonforce songs that are worth listening to
Fury of the Storm
Three Hammers
Cry Thunder
Ashes of the Dawn
Burning Heart
Glad you're enjoying Dragonforce, viking warrior goddess. Glad I was able to see them live two years ago!
The drummer Dave MacIntosh, just outrageously good. Check out video of him playing Fury of the Storm. Superhuman.
Dragon Force / Amazing Musicians ❤, awesome guitarists 🎸 ❤
Rock on Aileen 🤘 🎸 🎶 ❤😊 love you too 💕 😊
Dragonforce is just a huge guitar solo interrupted every now and then by a guy who sings, and i’m here for it 😂😂😂
But the chorus is epic though 🥲
love this song
One of the big things the guys from DragonForce like to do is make their guitars make sounds like old Atari gaming consoles
(DragonForce channel) - DragonForce Drummer Reacts to Insane Japanese Girl Drum Cover
(El Estepario Siberiano channel) - THIS GIRL IS THE FINAL BOSS OF DRUMS - Through the fire and flames.
My Fave Era Zp Theart on Vox early to late 2000s 🤘🤘
Fast,Fast,Fast ❤😊 all you can say is WOW
That song is epic!
These guys bring back so many fond memories.
go for JUNNA drum cover Through the fire and flames
I remember watching the 100% Guitar Hero play through on UA-cam back in the day .
Operation Ground and Pound and Heroes Of Our Time are 2 more amazing songs to unpack!!! Its so good it almost makes you tear up!
This song (on Guitar Hero) was the source of a large percentage of the profanities that I have said in my life. I've always just sat there in awe of how fast their hands move as they play.
