Tenacious D is such a groovy and funny band! The way Jack and Kyle can just roll of one another’s jokes, personalities, music, so much more, is such a great friendship 😭 Looking at the thumbnail and seeing you smile/laugh in it gets me hyped to watch this later when I get the chance 😭❤️
Made a spontaneous two hour road trip to Atlanta to see them play live in a pretty small venue right before this album came out. We were probably among the first folks to hear this final version of this song. Obviously, that night was an absolute blast.
There is an earlier version of this song from their HBO show. It's pretty clear in that version that the greatest song in the world is Stairway to Heaven.
My college roommates were *obsessed* with Tenacious D back in the early 2000's. This brings back so many good memories of eating ramen and playing Final Fantasy, Zelda, Timesplitters, etc.. I call my thought process my Otter Brain. 😉
Aileen.. your hamster is what keeps me coming back!! So I’m commenting as I’m watching lol. Snort !! There’s those Italian hands!! Omg your laugh! Ear to ear smile! And fingers!! And just for you HELL YA!!! I love your tears of laughter. And YES you are so right. Life gets to be to… “tight”? So we do need more of these videos. But there’s only ONE YOU!! Just know I’m a huge fan. You could plat Roy Orbison and I would be SOOOO down for that reaction. Keep on Smiling Aileen. Just because you make others smile with you. THAT is a talent!!🎶🎶💜💜
F*** her gently, with the old original flash video is hilarious. But hardly anyone reacting to it, because the video is hard to find and youtube does not really like the content xD
I hope everyone appreciates how much David Grohl has given to us as fans of music and art in general! This man still lifts up solo artist at his own band performances but understands it goes to the youth to carry on our legacy! Damn friends, look out for your children!!!
I"m SO HAPPY that you reacted to this one! It's a fuckin' JAM! I've loved this song/video since they dropped years and years ago. :) Very cool. Hope that you're doing well!
Oh, hell yeah! This might not be the best song in the world, but it's one hell of a tribute! Anyone who has never seen the movie Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny (2006), I highly recommend it!
I still remember when this song came out, and I still love it for its fun and craziness. You yourself already have a very vibrant energy that needs to be bottled! You seem to be such an infectiously happy beautiful being. It was strangely uplifting to watch your reaction to this, you crazy wonderful ball of energy!
yes and no. The whole narrative about 2 musicians making a deal with the devil to pay their rent has been the lore of Tenacious D since the beginning. Tribute and the Pick of Destiny are just 2 interpretations of this. the story has grown over the years and POD is the progressed version of what Tribute was in their early days.
This song is full of the best childhood memories 😍I still remember how glad I was that I got it on my mp3 player, downloaded it and listened to it all the way to my grandma's house😍
So this was one of Tenacious D's first big hits. It's a classic Devil at the Crossroads story, like the legend of Blues creator Robert Johnson or the Dave Mathew's Band's 'Devil Went Down to Georgia.' Early versions of the song strongly implied that 'The Best Song in the World' was Led Zepplin's 'Stairway to Heaven,' but the D couldn't afford the rights to sample it, so most (not all) references to the song were removed from the final version. Although 'Tribute' came first, it can retroactively be interpreted as being about the events of the Tenacious D movie 'Pick of Destiny.' So there's plenty of Tenacious D you could react to, but I suggest you approach their movie, Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny. If you do, you have a choice to make: you can either react to the movie as a whole and see the whole thing in context, or you can react to the individual songs and spoil the movie. The three main songs I'd recommend to react to are Kickapoo, Master Exploder, and Beelzeboss (the last one is the movie's climax, so you'll need to make your choice before watching that one).
Among the thousands of my favorite musicians, i must admit, I'd never have gotten into them if it wasnt for Jack Black and The School of Rock. He is in my top 10 for that reason alone and i thank Jack everyday for giving me the gift of rock and metal!
When Jack does his arm flapping dance, get's every time! Maybe you can venture off and react to Tenacious D And The Pick Of Destiny movie. It loosely and funnily tells the story of how The D became The D!
My favorite thing about tribute is they somehow managed to portray the argument against and for tribute songs using every layer possible. IMO tribute perfectly encapsulates the d which only became apparent after seeing the BtS stuff from tPoD. Specifically the parts about the master exploder scene and the rock off talking about how everything in your mind is idealized for good or bad.
There's a long tradition of musicians doing battle with the Devil. "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" is one example, but I it goes much further back than that.
My favorite thing about these songs is how well he manages to show just how good he is at song and music writing while at the same time making a song that sounds like a pure amateur failing miserably at rocking. Like, we get to hear both what he hears in his imagination, but also we break to outside the booth to hear what he actually sounds like and its hilarious! As another example, his song kickapoo when he basically creates a song that sounds EXACTLY like what a 12 year old obsessed with rock would think makes for a good rock song, dragons cursing, sex, etc. But the rest of it demonstrates his actual talent in making a song that tells a story with constantly changing always awesome music.
I remember Jack and Kyle being asked how long Dave Grohl spend in make-up. They said not long. He simply removed his Dave Grohl mask and the Devil was there underneath. 😆
Man I love Tenacious D, being able to rock and have fun is something you don't see too often. A different but still fun comedy and metal music, Brian Posehn - Metal by numbers. Sh*t's on metal in a whole, but in a fun and great song 🤣
This song is great, it's one my partner introduced me to when we started dating. The Devils metal song at the end of Pick of Destiny is awesome too, just wish it could have been longer 😁
Talented musicians doing silly things just for laughs is always a blessing. The number of talented, nay, LEGENDARY musicians taking part in this movie is testament to that fact!
I remember when this song could be heard everywhere, what is it, like 20 years ago? Anyway, awesome song, awesome reaction. And keep being awesome, you are a cure for my mental issues ❤🤙
There's two cover songs they did one is wicked games by Chris Issac which Alot of reactor knows about and there's one by seal which is kiss from a rose .
love the reaction......did you notice ....the devil.....it happend to be Dave Ghroll.....who whas also there to record some songs.... and you know jack black.....he asked him to play the demon......little fact here from my side....anyway i love this song.... qnd the video is hilarious....thanks for sharing beautifull......
I need a lady like you as a +1 to a rad metal concert..my buddy/coworker and I sang this entire album on the way back from a training in Chicago back to Grand Rapids. He even hit the "fleeglegeegles"
This might be one of the greatest songs lol. They literally have such great harmonies together and are such awesome entertainers. I think Jack Black is the Spirit Animal of many of us. He is a treasure, and this music project with his friend is so highly underrated. Just Great!
I think it was a few months ago in an interview someone asked how Jack Black does what he does with his energy in content. He can basically turn it on and off when the camera is rolling and when it's all done, he's just a regular guy. That's so awesome.
I actually don't know which version of this song I like better. This one is more polished and feels a bit harder, but the one from their HBO show is the one with the actual tribute licks to other songs. It's so hard to choose.
The devil is actually Dave Grohl both in the music video and in The pick of Destiny
Here is another video you should react to ! It’s a behind the scenes to the music video ua-cam.com/video/d_pcdpk-wQ0/v-deo.htmlsi=nHt_djNB4g-j6Vmq
Pretty sure he recorded the drums for this album too 👌
@@Scrub_Jake Dave also did drums for Tenacious D at 2010 Blizzcon.
and at 5:56 a wild ben stiller appears ;)
@@Echowhiskeyone Back when Blizzcon was epic 😭
Nobody notices Ben Stiller just randomly walking by the booth at one point lol!
I've never noticed that!
First ever noticing that 😂
and Liam Lynch
Tenacious D is such a groovy and funny band! The way Jack and Kyle can just roll of one another’s jokes, personalities, music, so much more, is such a great friendship 😭 Looking at the thumbnail and seeing you smile/laugh in it gets me hyped to watch this later when I get the chance 😭❤️
This was pretty funny back in the day!! 😂😂😂
Made a spontaneous two hour road trip to Atlanta to see them play live in a pretty small venue right before this album came out. We were probably among the first folks to hear this final version of this song. Obviously, that night was an absolute blast.
bet it was the greatest song in the world. I envy
@@allanp8370of course it’s not, that was just a tribute.
I don't believe it happened, but only because I'm super jealous!! 😂❤
Years ago a co-worker and I, on a slow night at the restaurant, started singing the whole song acapella. Such a good time.
There is an earlier version of this song from their HBO show. It's pretty clear in that version that the greatest song in the world is Stairway to Heaven.
this one too
The original HBO version is the superior.
They sued Tenacious D so they had to pull out some of the classic riffs.
My college roommates were *obsessed* with Tenacious D back in the early 2000's.
This brings back so many good memories of eating ramen and playing Final Fantasy, Zelda, Timesplitters, etc..
I call my thought process my Otter Brain. 😉
The thing that makes Tenacious D so special is while they're hilarious individuals in general, they actually kick some serious ass as a band.
Dave Grohl absolutely killing it on the drums. This album is fantastic and Jack Black is a legitimately talented singer.
Dave Grohl is a clown.
KG is a legit guitarist as well.
Aileen.. your hamster is what keeps me coming back!! So I’m commenting as I’m watching lol. Snort !! There’s those Italian hands!! Omg your laugh! Ear to ear smile! And fingers!! Random Ben Stiller walking by.
Tenacious D actually goes back a long way. You can see a small cameo of them in Paulie shores bio dome movie
tenacious d is absolutely hilarious and extremely talented! I reccommend their songs “POD” and “Beezleboss”
F*** her gently, with the old original flash video is hilarious. But hardly anyone reacting to it, because the video is hard to find and youtube does not really like the content xD

@@The_Keh27 oh yeah same here lol along with low hangin fruit
@@liquidminds It was a an educational video produced for the youth of the 90s! Always remember some smooches too! :)
Also from the Pick of Destiny movie, the songs Kickapoo and Master Exploder.
So fun and actually pretty impressive musically and vocally. I think Wonder Boy is naturally the next song by them.
This entire album is amazing and crude and memorable. You will never forget the first time you listen to this album
Dave Grohl is a definite gem in his performance! Excellent!!!👌

This is the greatest review/reaction in the world!
No, her original reaction was accidentally deleted.
This is just a... oh nevermind. 😖🤘

How the hell did you not hear this before? It's one of the best songs ever.
You missed Ben Stiller walking by. XD
Butters, Randy, and Towelie are my fav characters ever! They are so well written!
So random but the guy that walks by when Jack Black sings "just a matter of opinion" is Ben Stiller lol
I do appreciate that Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny culminates in the song they refer to in Tribute.
As a singer, check out Wonderboy. It’s an amazing piece that’s just perfectly constructed.
This song is full of the best childhood memories 😍I still remember how glad I was that I got it on my mp3 player, downloaded it and listened to it all the way to my grandma's house😍
Lucky to have ‘D-Day’ back in ‘06. Movie out the same day as the D played UIC Pavilion in Chicago. What a beautiful day it was!

Great reaction to a surprisingly great song.
Your snort was right up there with Jack's. Well done!
They never cease to entertain.
FYI... Heilung just dropped a live version of Anoana.
Did you notice that one of the people he's bothering when he steps out is Ben Stiller
Oh i subscribed during the intro 😆
I love that they are using Stairway's chords and call it the best song in the world :D
No it’s the tribute to the best song in the world
hoooly crap thank you for that knowledge
I highly recommend "Master Exploder" 🤘
They absolutely enjoy making their music 🎶
What always gets me in this video is the kind of throw-away cameo by Ben Stiller as the first bypasser in the end (after Devil Grandma, of course)...
Came to see the lady herself but stayed caused it was fckin TRIBUTE! win for all!
It's short but *Tenacious D* did a parody/cover of *Chris Isaak's (Wicked Games)* music video 😂

Your best outfit yet , love the collar
The devil was played by Dave Grohl from Foo Fighters, they are good mates and have appeared in each others videos.

lol the Ben Stiller cameo, walking outside the "studio"
Always used to sing along with this one as a kid, and still do.
Frank Zappa called voice tricks and inflections as "putting the eyebrows on it."
Jack loves rock music, and you can hear his music background in every song he plays. He is a phenomenal singer.
I heard Kickapoo again recently too! Another great Tenacious D song. I love the devils voice in this.😂😂

Thats actor Ben Stiller walking across the screen after the granny hits Jack with her purse
That snort was adorable.
I haven't seen anyone else mention it but that is Ben Stiller at 5:54
If you have not seen/heard it, you should do their song "Kickapoo" as well. Also, if fun is what you want, Weird Al...
The scene with David Grohl as the Devil..just...😂❤.....Should be Currency but yet its Priceless..
Try Probot "I am a warlock" it has Jack Black on vocals and Dave grohl on drums...you won't be disappointed...
I live for that right eyebrow raise tick
