With copyright strikes via DMCA being a hot topic, this video will teach you how to remove music from your stream VOD on Twitch so you can potentially avoid issues.

Just a heads up, when clicking on OUTPUT, make sure the TAB at the top is changed from Simple, to Advanced.. then the screen that @aranhawaii will show up

“Twitch vod track” isn’t available for me, because I’m streaming on UA-cam. I have the output setting set to advanced, but it’s not there. Any idea or suggestions? I just want to play my music on stream

Hello, thank you for the best and most simple solution for this. Quick question (I think...)... If I'm using Restream to stream to both twitch and youtube, does this same setup work? As far as I know I'm sending one signal to Restream and they broadcast out to twitch and youtube, so I am not sure if this still works. Am I correct that it will send the stream to restream which send to youtube/twitch, and the musicless vod gets saved for twitch?

hey mate i tried doing this and i have lost the twitch notification sounds and the redeemable channel points. are these just on desktop audio or do you know if they can be added as a application audio??

However I am rather befuddled as to why this doesn't seem to work when I stream to either youtube directly or through restream.
Well the Twitch VOD tool is only going to work for Twitch. For UA-cam or through restream, however, you'll need to go without music, or only royalty-free.

I use Royalty Free music so I'm good there. Question is that I tried this out and my VOD and even while I was streaming Froze my video completely. I could still hear myself talking but when I played back the VOD it would freeze at certain points and the video was unwatchable. What did I do wrong in the settings?
My issue is everytime is start a stream, the channel #2 from my music enables and I have to manually disable it everytime. Any help with that?

You have to decide which track you want to designate at the one that will NOT have your music source checked, and then that's the track to indicate when selecting a track for the Twitch VOD tool. As long as they match, you're good!

I found that if I want to monitor my Spotify output (so I can hear the music while gaming as well), it still ends up in the VOD because my desktop audio picks up from my headphones. Is there anyway around this? I'm only using one virtual cable, so would I need more? tyia!
My recommendation is that you never have Desktop audio as an input in OBS, and that instead you have virtual cables set up for everything you want heard in OBS.
I need help. So I have a virtual cable installed and I want my all audio to remain coming out of my headphones. How do I make music go into the virtual cable but still come out of my headphones?

I don't think twitch takes it as serious to strike you when you're live. I see big streamers who mute music during vods and don't receive strikes while streaming

( Problem is my music player send audio to "Desktop audio", and if I change to something els, then sure it would work on stream, and not in VOD, but.... I would not hear the music myself. )

Is this only a twitch thing? I stream on UA-cam for better quality but would like to play music in the background. The whole process of muting the sections after streaming is so long. I wish there was a button that just muted all the dmca music at once instead of doing it one at a yime

Spotify only comes through on my monitor and not through my headphones. even though EVERY other sound from OBS sound comes through the headphones, the music will play though my monitor... anyone know why?

I have an issue, I did this and it works. People on my stream can hear it and it doesn't appear during VODs. But I can't hear it myself while streaming. How do you fix this? I did it exactly like you did

know this is old comment but simple fix goto advanced audio properties and make sure that youve selected monitor and output

When I use the virtual cable I am unable to hear the music through my mix amp. Any pointers? :(
In sound device settings, go to the recording tab, find the virtual cable, and then set listening on and select your amp.

you dont need audio cables just run "spotify" for example and add from obs/sources/audio capture(beta)

unfortunately, if you uncheck one channel it unchecks it on all scenes. Is there a work around to this? An entire vod is muted because it mutes Channel 2 in every scene.
create a new audio source for that specific scene.

Yes because he’s just unchecking from the VOD track, not the actual audio track.

Can someone help me out? My issue is that my music is lumped in with literally all of my other "Desktop Audio". so if I removed it from track 2, my vods wont have audio of my games and things as well
run music app with obs opened then go to sources/audio capture beta(this gives you a seperate audio track that only that music app plays through)

virtual audio cable is completely unnecessary. Just choose "Application Audio Capture BETA" under sources. Do it for every audio source and mute the desktop audio. Problem solved, no downloads, all free
