How To: Remove Music From Twitch VODs Using VoiceMeeter Banana and OBS [DMCA Safe]

- OBS recently added a new feature that will prevent you from having to delete all of your VODs to avoid DMCA strikes on your Twitch channel! In this video i'll be showing you how to do all of this for free using the new OBS feature and Voicemeeter Banana. This tutorial will work for any music playing application including iTunes, Spotify, Tidal, Windows Media Player (???), and even UA-cam!

If anyone is having problems not hearing your desktop. at 3:15 when he changes his output to his headphones, dont do that keep it at "VoiceMeeter Input".
VoiceMeeter is very finicky, sometimes I can set the output to my headphones and it'll work, sometimes it doesnt.

Thank you thank you, I only had 1 problem and that was that voicemeeter wasnt picking up or wouldnt allow my interface to play my desktop audio through it soo i’ve had to compromise with ks vb-audio point 😕 but never the less it is basically there

Great tutorial! The only thing I would say is that you could still get a "live" strike, but the chances of that happening are very minimal. You would have to be a very large streamer with many eyes on you for the likeliness of that to even happen.

Hey man great video but i have a question, i've done everything as you said but now desktop audio fader is not moving but the mic/aux fader is picking up everything else. did i do something wrong?

for me it still plays audio in both. The thing is though, both my input and output for audio are through a usb mic. I dont know if that has anything to do wit it but the music wont only play in the spotify section of the vod track.

Hey so it’s been a few days and I’m realizing while my video does show how to properly get music onto it’s own track, the instructions on how to keep desktop audio separate may only be working for me because I’m using an Astro Mixamp. Proper fix:
Desktop Audio (all applications except music) - Voicemeeter Output
Music - Voicemeeter Input to Voicemeeter Aux Output
A1 will still be your hardware
Desktop Audio in OBS needs to be set to Voicemeeter Output
Music will remain Aux (disable channel 2)

really good tutorial, worked really well. although when i use after effects or premiere, it says the output doesnt work when i set it to default output that i had before. but when i change the A1 in voicemeter to MME instead of WDM it works, buuuut then OBS picks up the audio from spotify into the desktop audio which ruins the whole point of using voice meter to route the music in the first place lol
Edit: I'm also using Nvidie Voice which idk if that's messing it up somehow, but apparently if i applications that i would want as "desktop audio" to VoiceMeter Input then OBS picks it but seperate from music and i can hear it. as before, if i had it on default it would come out with AUX Input. idk why it works but it works...
Overall I would say voicemeeter is just a really weird software that doesn’t always work as intended. A lot of the times you’ll find yourself trying to fix something and doing everything right but the software just won’t act properly
@@LeoSypniewskiMusic yea its very weird and i dont fully understand it but i guess i found a workaround messing with it so all good i guess lol, i just have to change everything that i want to be on in the vod to voicemeter input
Hi, you know why when we use that, the recorded video on twitch are audio and video desync? I think only when we change the resolution, but this happen me
you may want to check your audio delay settings in OBS, sometimes video has a bit of delay on it compared to audio
okay, i got it to work but now it stopped working and my vods are saving the music. i double checked all the steps and its still saving the music. is there a reason why? like when im playing the music, my desktop audio is picking it up on obs
okay... but im using a plugin that separated programs into their own audio channels so that i can control them separately. does this ONLY work if everything is going through desktop?...

Hey man I appreciate you taking the time to make this video. I have a question about utilizing this feature. Is it possible to use this on a dual pc (gaming/streaming) setup. I haven't found any info or tutorials on how to set it up using 2 PCs. Or if it's at all possible.

Ok my studio from spotify is still going through desktop even though I did everything right (so it seems)
Try setting all of your PC output to voicemeeter output and setting Spotify to voicemeeter aux

I’m realizing there may be steps missing because I have an Astro MixAmp that already has two channels. You’re going to have to use the other output of voicemeeter for the game audio to keep them separate in OBS, and then have that output go to A1
just you need to set up Spotify to a VC (virtual cable ) and put the setting on OBS on an audio source assign to that VC
I did this tutorial and it works great, however my desktop sound won’t come through. So any game sound or twitch sound alerts won’t work.
Apparently chat hears the sound alerts, but I can’t and no one hears the game.
Any way around this?

i'm not 100% sure on StreamLabs, they might not have integrated this feature yet. That's why I stopped using StreamLabs, it's easier at first but OBS Studio offers more.

Voice Meter Aux is missing. Does anyone know why?
Sometimes you have to reinstall it seems
make sure you open "voice meeter banana" and not "voice meteer" , the banana one should usually be in smaller text and below the regular voice meteer (if you are using the windows search to open it) that's what it was for me at least
Just to give some info here. This will not protect you from live DMCA takedowns. You should still use DMCA safe music if you do not want to risk your channel.

i dont know why when i download and install voicemeeter bannana, i havent this " virtual imput voicemeeter aux". directly i have a1 a2 and voicemeeter VAIO. just this :S
i've found you may have to uninstall and reinstall it if all the output options dont show up - kind of a pain
@Leo Sypniewski i fixed that, but now the point is ..in a1, when i choose my headset, i listen myself🤦🏻♀️🤣, i know there many options, i choose the "wdm" and dnt know why i listen my microphone. Sorry my english🙏😅

When you’re in system settings > sound you choose specific applications to go to specific outputs

You may be able to do it inside of Spotify preferences from what I’ve been told
i had the same problem and it sounds really silly but the way i solved it was to actually start a music track so your options recognize spotify is currently as an audio source.. if you just open the app it won't show in the settings

I was able to follow along up to the 7 minute mark and at that point I got so confused that somehow nothing made sense to me anymore.
Edit: Watched a bit more. 8:06 This isn't happening for me. It's showing up in desktop audio and the music audio channel
