Just finished doing this and would like to add a couple of suggestions. Those clips underneath the air box were very difficult to remove on a cold engine. Couldn't budge them, so I took a blow dryer to heat them and make the plastic more plyable. Sure enough they slipped right off once warmed. I also applied a little silicone grease to the o rings in hopes it'll make removel easier next time. My filter was about as dirty as yours and mine had 16500 miles on it. I personally wouldn't go more than 20k miles without changing it.

I'm having a heck of a time getting the clips off. It tried using a heat gun, but they still wouldn't budge. I was afraid of damaging the plastic so I didn't heat the cup for long. How long did you heat them up?

@@andyleo8418 I wouldn't use a heat gun. I used a blow dryer. Really didn't get them really hot, just warm enough to make the plastic pliable. It takes a little knack to get the hang of it.

Amazing job brother, I don’t know your name, you really took some effort to show how to access air filter, I am not sure I will be doing, Mercedes made it so difficult intentionally so their service team keep busy…I found oil filter is in a tight spot in this car …air filter is even worse….thanks a lot brother

1.5 hours to replace an air filter is ridiculous. Mercedes makes it difficult on purpose to discourage DIYers. Dealers want their $500+ Service B intervals from owners. Thanks for the video.

It’s truly unnecessary how they built this. Didn’t need to be this difficult. Keep their mechanics employed for sure! Take your time and save your money. It’s not too difficult. Just a little time consuming !!

Awesome!! Great job! If you do decide to change the in cabin air filter...I discovered there are 2 on the GLE...might be same for the C300. Check it out.

Best info for the job. It's ridiculous to position a/f as such.

Agreed. Access should be super simple in the spirit of making maintenance easier for anyone...even the mechanic. Not necessary.

2020 almost at 60k. I haven't been to the dealership for a bit as I been trying to do everything on my own. But, it feels like my engine has been shaking a bit more lately and when it is idling feel I can even feel the engine shake a bit more.

@@jaimeramos2340 that’s interesting for a later model but not impossible. I would have someone check all the engine mounts and braces on the engine. Might be something as simple as that and not mechanical at all.

Wondering if I should get an oiled filter like kn or something ?

    • @talkingwithcars

K&N is a good brand...but personally, I gravitate to the filters that are most like the OEM. Or are of very good quality. I usually go with MANN, MAHLE, WIX, Premium brands. or try to get the OEM from a 3rd party or eBay. what kind of car do you have?

It’s not worth 250 of somebody who buys 70k car

Depends. If you enjoy doing this and don’t want to waste money. No. If you don’t have time , have plenty of money or want to replace yourself. Then have them do it. It’s all personal.
