@@marvinbluedorn3321 Good question, always check with MB but The primary difference between the 2020 and 2022 GLE 350 engines is that both models use the same 2.0L turbocharged inline-four engine, but the 2022 model may benefit from minor updates to improve efficiency and performance, potentially including a slightly revised engine tuning or a more advanced mild-hybrid system depending on the specific trim level.
What exactly is a "C Coefficient" (8:09 of the video). I am thinking about doing my own oil change because MB stops offering dipstick. I have the m264 in the glc300 2020. The dealer put in 5w40 229.5 they won't tell me why, called Mercedes Canada and they won't confirm oil required. What should I use as I am ready to do the oil change.
I would always double check with your local MB dealers to be 100% certain or even call FCP Euro to check. But based on quick research. I found the following in the 2020 GLC300 owners manual. Meet these specs and you’ll be fine. 229.51, 229.52, 229.61 229.71* * Recommended for lowest possible fuel con‐ sumption (lowest SAE viscosity class in each case; observe possible restrictions of the approved SAE viscosity classes).
I have checked with the dealer, they use 229.5 because apparently Mercedes Canada tells them to use it. The dealer then told me to check with Mercedes Canada. So then Mercedes Canada won't answer the question about the oil spec. Said they are not qualified to answer and told me to check with the dealer. So what are they covering up, no one will take responsibility for the answer. Must be because the dealer gets the oil in bulk and puts it in everything. Or the new spec is just for epa emissions and is actually worse for wear. The 229.51 specifies 5w30 and 229.5 5w40. Maybe w40 is better for the turbos as they run really hot. I have read the manual and the 223.2 spec which clearly states 229.51. I just want it in writing cause if something breaks in the engine they will blame me if I use the wrong certified oil.
@@perrymahlmann6303 so if you were to buy oil from Mercedes for your car….what would they give you? I would call FCP Euro also if you have time. Good luck
The "W" in OW-30, 5W-30, etc.. does NOT stand for "weight", it stands for "winter." Like all modern engine oils these are all multigrade oils, on a cold start or very cold climates, a OW-30 oil is going to flow faster on startup compared to 5W-30 however once the oils reach "operating temperature" the oils are virtually the same viscosity which actually would be 30 weight.
Yes. Your 100% correct. SAE standards measure viscosity of the oil at a very specific temperature. I’m not sure the temps exactly but it’s to check for viscosity of the oil in cold and engine running temperatures. That’s the purpose of the multi viscosity numbers. Good catch.
