Everybody in that band is a monster at their chosen instrument. Their drummer, Keith Moon, is a legend. You might recognize his crazy drumming and facial expressions as the inspiration for The Muppets' Animal.
I woke up in a Soho doorway; a policeman knew my name. He said, "You can go sleep at home tonight, if you can get up and walk away. " True story and some of the best opening lyrics in rock history - hilarious.
Animal is the best drummer in history! Lol. I did not know he was inspired from Keith Moon, but after seeing this video, it makes perfect sense. He is the epitome of Animal.
I'm happy to see a Floyd AND Who fan... DSTOM is my favorite album, sorry, I mean, the best album in Space Time, and Keith Moon is my favorite Drummer, and as a crazy character is on my top list with Syd Barrett.
Keith Moon (drummer) taped his earphones on to his head stop them falling off during his wild antics on the drums. Rumour has it he was also the inspiration for Animal - the drummer in the Muppets. The who, one of the best rock bands ever. "Won't get fooled again" is my favourite of theirs with the best / loudest rock scream ever. Huge back catalogue.
It’s not a rumour, Jim Henson talked about it on an old episode of The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. He was a huge Who fan and had their blessing to immortalize Keith.
The Who are a great British rock band formed in London in 1964. They are considered one of the most influential rock bands of the 20th century & have sold over 100 million records worldwide. They have so many great songs such as "I Can't Explain", "The Kids Are Alright", "My Generation", "Baba O'Riley", "Won't Get Fooled Again", "Substitute", "Happy Jack", "I Can See For Miles", "Behind Blue Eyes", "Boris The Spider", "Pictures Of Lily", "Magic Bus", "Pinball Wizard" etc.
Keith Moon is a renowned drummer, John Entwhisle is a renowned bassist, and the energy of this band live is top tier. Obviously ended general admission seating at stadium shows because of the tragedy. Actually was at the Silverdome (old football stadium ). For the Detroit stop on that tour.
All of the shows from the CSI TV franchise used Who songs for their intros. You can't go wrong with Baba O'Riley, My Generation, Don't Get Fooled Again, Pinball Wizard, Squeeze Box or You Better You Bet. Actually any of their songs!
Hahahaha I love it. They don’t know who the drummer is but like the his facial expressions. He’s arguably the greatest drummer of all time. Definitely top half a dozen. Keith Moon, legend!😂
Keith Moon the drummer used to treat the drums like the lead instrument. A percussion genius, unfortunately departed this earth far too young: RIP "Moon the loon".
Keith Moon (RIP) was/is my second favorite drummer, after John Bonham (RIP) of Led Zeppelin. Ol' Steady John Entwistle (RIP) was the bassist for the WHO, Roger Daltrey is the Front Man, and Pete Townshend is guitar, and chief songwriter. All extremely talented people.
John Bonham, while a fine drummer, wasn't anywhere near Keith Moon in abilities or personality. Moon at 17 was acknowledged to be the fastest drummer in the world. He only got better as he aged, until he flamed out, OD'd and died. He might not have been the greatest. Maybe Ginger Baker should get that nod. The 60s saw many genius drummers emerge.
@@iamthecaptainofmysoul2293 Ah "Mr Justice"... Wait... no you aren't... Are you so presomptuous to take yourself for a god which "know it all" ? You sounds very toxic to me.
Keith Moon absolutedly brilliant drummer they were all superb musician's in THE WHO we will never see their like again Legend's of Rock Music and the greatest live band ever that's for sure.
Keith Moon wasn’t just the drummer - he was THE Drummer. Look him up. Great reaction guys … please check out Won’t Get Fooled Again and Baba O’Reilly, both amazing songs, I promise you’ll dig them both.
John Entwistle on bass, alawys stood stoicly in the dark, but played the flashiest bass lines and wore the flashiest outfits. He was voted bass player of the millennium!
My uncle saw them in concert and said they were the LOUDEST band he ever saw! I was a young drummer and he told me about Keith Moon’s drumset which was huge back during his time! He said he was glad he wasn’t at the Cincinnati show because their was a stampede and lots of people were hurt and killed. Overall The Who was my uncle’s favorite band and one of my favorites too!
There is a 6 camera panel version of Won't Get Fooled Again, it was filmed at Sheperton Studios for the Rockumentery The Boys Are Alright, shows so much more of their "antics"
I've seen The WHO live several times. This is one band that will kick your ass and come back and kick it some more. The first time we were sitting in a dark theatre, when suddenly the blast of a loud guitar almost blew me out of my seat. Next, Pete comes sliding across the stage on his knees banging his guitar on the floor as the lights came on. My hair stood up for a week.
Yes, he was, and this is the last album the drummer Keith Moon made before he died way to young! He was also known for all the crazy stuff he would do like smash his drum set at the end of the concert!
I saw the original band back in the 70s and yeah, Moon knocking his drum kit around and Townsend throwing his guitar was for Real in Springfield MA in the mid 70s! Hear that show on You Tube, they killed it as always.
The first time I saw The Who, was at Maple Leaf Gardens. They played a few nights and a friend who was at an earlier show challenged us to count the number of drum sticks Keith broke. I lost count at 12-15. They were followed by Herman's Hermits and there was a 20 intermission for the smoke to clear from the stage!
Interesting video, it shows the way the song was built in the studio in several passes adding layers of sound. They wear headphones to play along with the previously recorded parts. This song is from 1978 when punk rockers were calling acts like The Who "dinosaurs". The verses tell the story of the hardships and low parts of their growth, and the chorus points at the punk rockers and asks "Who Are You" (what have YOU done?).
Keith Moon aka Moon the Loon is probably my favorite drummer and yes he earned the name Moon the Loon. The bass player John Entwhistle was called Thunder Fingers because of his amazing bass playing.
Roger Daltry isn’t just a great gritty vocalist, he was a decent actor too. Played the infamous British Bank Robber ‘John McVicar’ in the film of his life ‘McVicar’. Most the music on the soundtrack is theirs too. Well worth a watch. 🔥👍🏼
Thanks guys, for doing the who I was one of the people who wrote the comments about The Who London band from the 60s. Thanks again George, one of your older subscribers in England, UK👍🇬🇧🍾
Legendary Band Legendary Live Shows Great Vocals Great Guitar Great Bass Legendary Drums That’s Who the Who Is Legendary 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻 Next Won’t get fooled again Baba O’Riley 2 Legendary Songs 👍🏻
Roger Daltrey has a massive voice. Saw him singing live at a concert a couple of years ago, now in his 70's. He was incredible and brought the crowd to silence for a moment as he really let it go. Serious rock royalty and a session I'll never forget.
Thank you, I wanted to say something about Roger too , a great singer and actor but according to the comments the only person recognized is Keith Moon...they just want to hear him banging away...no need for a vocalist or guitar player! As far as I'm concerned there would have been no record without Daltry, the reason I bought it.
Wont Get Fooled again is a true Rock anthem, Love Reign O'er Me is one of the greatest Rock vocal performances and The Real Me.. well just check out the incredible bass line. The best I ever heard in my opinion.
Keith Moon legendary drummer it most renowned for his partying and sense of humor. The stories are epic. My favorite Keith drove his Rolls Royce into a swimming pool in the middle of a party....just cuz. 😂
The drummer keith Moon once drove a Rolls Royce into a swimming pool and that was one of his tamer pranks .love listening to his drumming RIP /movie star /rock star /and now a real star in the night sky .
The Who are, imho, one of the top ten bands of all time. They are spoken of in the same breath as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Fleetwood Mac, Bob Segar, ect. They have a HUGE catalog of killer songs. As with many top tier bands, all of the members are considered to be among the best players in rock history. "Won't Get Fooled Again" is my recommendation for your next one but really, you could throw a dart at their catalog and hit a banger.
The Who performed at Woodstock, Monterey Pop, Live Aid, Concert for NYC, the Super Bowl, and they were the band which officially closed out the London Olympics in 2012. BTW, The Who is currently touring Europe.
The Who are in a space all their own. Sort of their own genre. They have many good songs, as other commentors have mentioned. This song didn't hit me hard at the time of it's release, but it is definitely a banger. Love the video. Another great reaction. Guess you guys can't help but put out excellent videos. 😊
When The Who fiat came out they were known for destroying their equipment, the drummer was a real jokester who died earlier in life from alcohol poisoning they were an incredible group with their rock opera Tommy and Quadraphenia album and the countless hit songs
John Entwistle (the Ox) is basically considered the best contemporary bassist . Keith Moon (Moon the Loon) besides being a hyperactive crazy person was one hell of a drummer, Pete Townshend guitar/key and Roger Daltrey is a great vocalist They were certainly a big deal in the 60’s 70’s and into the 80’s.
Keith Moon is always in a he top 2, 3, or 5 rock drummers of all time. He’s #1 on my list. Energy, energy, energy. He played with the singer and guitar. The bassist, John Entwistle played lead almost - always playing a counter melody, while Pete Townshend invented the power chords. Roger had to scream to be heard. All 4 thought they were the lead, and yet it worked (really well). Almost like Dixieland when all the instruments solo at the same time.
Keith lived the way he played drums...manic and on the edge of totally out of control. With the drums it made him brilliant and one of the all-time greats,in life it took him from us far too early. This song is from 1978,so more like 45 years ago.
There's a reason the drummer Keith Moon's nickname was "The Loon" RIP. You need to check out a live version of Don't get fooled again. The band consists of Roger Daltrey- lead singer Pete Townshend Lead guitarist back up vocals and songwriter John Entwistle bassist/babysitter RIP Keith Moon drummer. Each are one of the best at what they do. Love Reign O'er Me is a must.
The Who are considered the godfathers of punk rock, hard and progressive rock. Many bands that followed were heavily influenced. Keith Moon ,drummer,John Erstwhile, bass guitarist,Pete Townsend lead guitarist main songwriter vocalist, and frontman harmonica player Roger Daltrey are considered some of the GOATS and the best in each of their respective roles. So to answer your question the drummer is one of the greatest drummers ever!
Very nice reaction guys, to what many consider to arguably the greatest rock band of them all. And one of the most influential. For more great Who material, check out "Baba O'Riley", "Won't Get Fooled Again", "Love Reign O'er Me", "My Generation", "Young Man Blues", "A Quick One While He's Away", "See Me, Feel Me", "Behind Blue Eyes", "I Can See For Miles", "The Kids Are Alright" just to name a few.
So glad you guys did the "untainted" version. For decades, in MY radio market, the two "F-bombs" dropped in this song remained untouched. But thank God the Morality Police swooped in a few years back and cleaned up the song for us. Great reaction, guys! The Who are a fun rabbit hole to go down.
The Who… one of the GOATs of rock n roll. Keith Moon was one of the greatest and most influential rock drummers and the reason I started playing drums over 40 years ago. So many great Who songs to choose from. Anything off Who’s Next is great. I would recommend the studio versions, not the live versions that were recorded near the end of Keith Moon’s life. If you want to hear Roger’s vocals shine, check out Love, Reign o'er Me from the Quadrophenia album. The Real Me and 5.15 are also bangers from Quadrophenia.
Great group you’re discovering and yes you need to listen to more, including live. They had some of the best musicians around. John Entwistle was one of the greatest bass guitar players in history. Keith Moon was an amazing drummer and Pete Townsend? Guitar, piano, organ you name it he plays it. Roger Daltry is along for the ride of his life but makes the vocals come alive with so much energy. Wait till you see him twirling his mic during a live performance. Welcome down the rabbit hole which is The Who!
I never belittle anyone for not having heard classic rock. You can’t help when you were born or that music has devolved catastrophically since the 60s and 70s. I’m just glad to see you discovering it now and allowing me to share the experience with you. I was truly blessed to grow up during the golden age of music. Watching and listening as you hear these songs for the first time is like going back to the first time I heard them. You are why rock and roll will never die. When your time comes, be sure to pass the torch on to your kids and grandkids. Much love ❤️
I have 2 books, one written by Pete and one written by Geoffrey Guiliano that cover Pete's life from childhood till just a few years ago. Both are amazing reads if you want to learn about all the members and their music. Pete(who I think is brilliant) was an absolutely tortured soul when it came to his musical experiments. Trying to get the sequencers programmed properly, live or in studio, is just one of the the imperfect things musically that he wanted to be perfect. He worked on it till he got what he was looking for. Genius.
That little intro bit you recognized is most likely from TV. The Who revised this song and created the intro for the show CSI. And later went on to also write and perform the intros for CSI: New York and CSI Miami. 😮😅 However, I don't know if the latter were also revised songs or original works. But just guessing, I think Who are You was serendipity and the other two were written specifically for the shows. As always, loved your reactions!! 😊❤❤
Hey guys. Thanks for that reaction and the video. The Who are Royalty when it comes to Rock Music. If you eved watched any of the CSI shows ( New York/Miami/ Original) they all have a Who song as their intro theme. Original)
Oh man, y'all are in for a treat! It is so fun watching people listen to these classic rock bands for the first time. The drummer, Keith Moon, was renowned for not only his musical prowess but his crazy antics. He's among the top three drummers; Neal Peart of Rush is probably the best (nicknamed the Professor) right along John Bonham of Led Zeppelin. With his band mates Roger Daltry, John Entwhistle & Pete Townsend, The Who gave us some timeless albums chock full of bangers. Keep going down this boulevard of phenomenal songs!
Keith Moon was such a great drummer, even Neil Peart admired his drumming. How big of a compliment when you can inspire Neil the other top drummer ever to live is a fan of his drumming style.
The Who are Rock. They were punk before punk was a thing. They had four leads; singer, bass player, drummer and lead/rhythm guitar. I don't know how they made it work, but they did;
Amongst the very best bands from the 60s who grew in the 70s to superstar status that is well earned. Their album Who's Next is full of huge hits like Baba O'Reilly, Behind Blue Eyes and Won't Get Fooled Again, all classic tunes that you will love. They also have 2 Concept Albums with stories to tell with magnificent rock and brilliant production that are best heard as the entire album, pick a weekend night when you are home, dim the lights and put on Tommy and/or Quadrophenia and grab your favorite way of relaxing. Sit back with your headphones and get lost in some of the best music ever composed. Some of their best known songs from them are Pinball Wizard and Love Reign O'er Me. If you want a total rock jam thrill, for audio do from their Live at Leeds album, the My Generation jam, 15 minutes of arguably the best live segment of a classic live hard rock you will ever hear, the interplay between the instruments is mesmerizing and as powerful as it got back then. You can see them live from that era on You Tube at Woodstock, the Isle of Wight and Tanglewood from 1969/70. Incredible stuff that has stood the test of time and is still loved today. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
Thanks for the reaction! Follow this up with Won't Get Fooled Again. I usually recommend studio versions for first listens, but the live Shepperton version is killer, and each band member's personality really shines on it.
Word of mouth about this HEAVY sound coming out of The Who's recording section made Paul approach John and the guys to write something heavy themselves. The result was Helter Skelter!!! Just a cool little factoid that's out there!!! And Keith Moon was considered a crazy assed but skilled drummer. He was the inspiration for Jim Henson creating Animal!!! 🤘😝🤘
Great reaction Sam and Phil! The Who is one of my favorite bands and I have listened to their music for a good part of my life. I was lucky enough to see them live in Pittburgh in the mid 70s. It was an amazing concert. I believe that a lot of people will request songs from their Who's Next LP. It is an outstanding album and you honestly couldn't go wrong if you played the entire thing! I'm repeating myself, but I love your content!
Every insane rock and roll story. I’d based around the drummer (Keith Monn) of this band. Alice cooper said “everything you’ve heard about Keith Moon is true, and you’ve only heard 10%” Cadillac in a swimming pool, t.v. Out of a hotel window. He created It all!
"Won't Get Fooled Again" has one of the best Screams ever in a Rock Song. Check it out if not already.
One of the great rock songs in history. I'd suggest the studio version first for this song.
The Shepperton Stage B / 1978 is a great live version too.
I prefer Baba O'Reilly personally
If not the best. Bruce DIckinson's scream in Iron Maiden's "The Number of the Beast" comes awfully close.
The best scream in rock 'n roll.
Greatest drummer, greatest bass player, greatest vocalist, and one of the greatest guitarists and songwriters of all time. That's The Who.
Everybody in that band is a monster at their chosen instrument. Their drummer, Keith Moon, is a legend. You might recognize his crazy drumming and facial expressions as the inspiration for The Muppets' Animal.

The best drummer in the world!
Mad moony on drums , smashed many a set of drums fantastic band more plz my generation ❤
Keith Moon was one of the greatest drummers of all time passed away in 1980 great reaction rock on
1978, months after this came out
So much great music from the WHO. I saw them at an indoor arena in '76 and I couldn't hear for three days.
One of the greatest live bands, if not the greatest, to have ever existed.
They use this song as the intro to an American tv 📺 show called: The Masked Singer!
The band consists of
Roger Daltrey- lead singer
Pete Townshend Lead guitarist back up vocals and songwriter
John Entwistle bassist/babysitter RIP
Keith Moon drummer.
Keith Moon "reknowned drummer"? Simple answer. Yes. Giant understatement. Yes!! Thanx tho for your channel.
Keith Moon the Drummer was called MOON THE LOON!!!🥁☮
Very nice reaction guys, to what many consider to arguably the greatest rock band of them all. And one of the most influential. For more great Who material, check out "Baba O'Riley", "Won't Get Fooled Again", "Love Reign O'er Me", "My Generation", "Young Man Blues", "A Quick One While He's Away", "See Me, Feel Me", "Behind Blue Eyes", "I Can See For Miles", "The Kids Are Alright" just to name a few.
RIP Keith Moon probably one of best Rock Drummers of all time and a real character. You should listen ‘ I Won’t Get Fooled Again’ and ‘Ba Ba O’Riley’
Keith Moon is like trying to contain a fire with gas.
Keith Moon best drummer loved my generation we have lived ❤
Great group you’re discovering and yes you need to listen to more, including live. They had some of the best musicians around. John Entwistle was one of the greatest bass guitar players in history. Keith Moon was an amazing drummer and Pete Townsend? Guitar, piano, organ you name it he plays it. Roger Daltry is along for the ride of his life but makes the vocals come alive with so much energy. Wait till you see him twirling his mic during a live performance. Welcome down the rabbit hole which is The Who!
Won't Get Fooled Again, live from Shepperton Studios
FYI Keith Moon was a living maniac🤣
But a genius of a drummer
Check out the song behind Blu eyes
Simply - THE BEST!
Yes, you need to hear a LOT more of The Who.
Won't Get Fooled Again by them live @ the Shepperton Studio
I have 2 books, one written by Pete and one written by Geoffrey Guiliano that cover Pete's life from childhood till just a few years ago. Both are amazing reads if you want to learn about all the members and their music. Pete(who I think is brilliant) was an absolutely tortured soul when it came to his musical experiments. Trying to get the sequencers programmed properly, live or in studio, is just one of the the imperfect things musically that he wanted to be perfect. He worked on it till he got what he was looking for. Genius.
Keith freaking Moon 🔥
.....enough said
That little intro bit you recognized is most likely from TV. 😊❤❤
Keith Moon is always so interesting to watch. What a character he was!
The real me
Love Reign O'er me
Long live rock
Won't get fooled again live at Shepperton
Baba O'Riley live at Shepperton

Black Duct Tape on those headphones !! He wore them a lot !! RIP Keith Moon !
Hey guys. Thanks for that reaction and the video. The Who are Royalty when it comes to Rock Music. If you eved watched any of the CSI shows ( New York/Miami/ Original) they all have a Who song as their intro theme.
Original)
* Who Are You * : Intro to the CSI TV Series; Guys ... The Who : STILL one of my ALL-TIME favourites Bands and LIVE acts .. ! 🤟🤙
The Who are Rock. They were punk before punk was a thing. They had four leads; singer, bass player, drummer and lead/rhythm guitar. I don't know how they made it work, but they did;
Amongst the very best bands from the 60s who grew in the 70s to superstar status that is well earned.
Thank you! Behind Blue Eyes or Baba O'Riley from Who's Next are reactions I'd like to see.
Every insane rock and roll story. I’d based around the drummer (Keith Monn) of this band.
Alice cooper said “everything you’ve heard about Keith Moon is true, and you’ve only heard 10%”
Cadillac in a swimming pool, t.v. Out of a hotel window. He created It all!
This is not the Final Cut of the studio release, it's a rough mix and missing the third verse but a fun insight on their recording sessions.
