You really should start talking over the music more often. The stopping drives us crazy 😂. Keith Moon is the drummer and he was the worst for creating the most damage at after parties. Fully trashing hotel rooms and he even drove an old Cadillac into a swimming pool. It got so bad they had trouble booking hotels for them. There's a video on YT where they are playing in a thunderstorm which was insane! Lightning striking all around them! So cool! Nowadays all they can do is twerk and do disgusting sexual things on stage. These guys had the true talent, no tech, just incredible, AND they were high out of their minds most of the time! As they definitely were in this video, which, just shows you how incredible their talent really was. Plus the drugs were pure, not laden with pharmaceuticals. Glad you're enjoying all this. I really do miss those simpler times very much! ✌️Out
I am so old that I fart dust. Seeing Keith Moon drumming again almost brought a tear. Thanks Polo. I enjoy reliving these bands through the new ears of your first experiences.
And to think, as a "young" teenager in the early 70's you had all these groups, The Who, The Stones, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, etc. All producing HIGH quality music all at the same time. Blessed to have lived through this period and survived! Thanks Polo!
It was a great time to be alive and listening to music, and it continued on into the late 70's and early 80's. After that, music edged into a kind of sameness. There were, and still are, great songs, but I don't think we'll ever see another era in music like the 60's and 70's.
I am thankful for growing up in those days! My adult children envy the time in which I grew up, but I raised them right and they love it too! My grandchildren are being introduced to it to!
Same here guys. T.V.? No way we had that stereo blasting all the time. I didn't even know that the program "M.A.S.H" existed. You knew each song and checked out the album covers front and back. The drummer, Keith Moon unfortunately died not long after this concert, he was only 32. It's actually amazing he lived that long, he had an insane lifestyle.
Joe Walsh, no stranger himself to a wild lifestyle, once said, “One of the most terrifying things that ever happened to me was that Keith Moon decided he liked me.”

That spinning the microphone and Townsend going nuts, Keith Moon spinning the drumsticks...And the intro...MY GOD, just so amazing, will NEVER come close to being replicated, EVER!
I love that the first time you see them and instantly know Pete Townsend's "move"(guitarist). Roger Dalltry's (singer)"move" is to spin the microphone through the air and then catch it . The drummer (Keith Moon)has all the moves and the bassist's (John Entwistle) move is no move at all LOL. Love your reactions Polo! Be blessed my friend! Peace out!
This song captures and embodies nearly 70 years of the essence of rock music as well or better than anything ever recorded by anyone. The pinnacle of the genre.
Easy. I'm 61, and have heard maybe 1% of the rap music that's been put out. And that percentage is by sheer accident. Most are inclined to their own bubble when it comes to music.
The Who are as legendary as it gets - one of the top 5 greatest rock bands of all-time - each member was a genius, and two of them could be the very best ever...
The Who are one of the most influential bands ever. The album Who's Next which this comes from is a 10/10 record from 1971. Also listen to the studio version.
Classic Who hit. Townsend with his windmill signature on the guitar is legendary. 'Love Reign Over Me' is another hit worth checking. 'Behind Blue Eyes' also.
Fun fact. At the same time as this tour was being filmed in London, Ridley Scott's film Alien was being made just down the road. In the film, when Kane finds the eggs in the subterranean cave, the eggs are protected by a thin layer of light. Ridley Scott borrowed The Who's lasers, those very same lasers you just saw in the vid, to create the scene in his film. How lucky was that. Great reaction by the way.
There is no band that performed live like the Who. To hell with studio versions of any of their work. I'm so grateful that I came up with rock bands from the 60's on. They were real purveyors of their craft.❤
Polo, love your reactions to the iconic bands that I grew up with! The 60's and 70's provided us with so much great music, much of it came from England. Continue on your journey. There are so many great bands that I'll enjoy watching you discover!!
Thanks, Polo, for this post. I first saw The Who in 1971 at the Mississippi River Festival at an outdoor venue at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, IL.
The WHO!! Ones of my favorite bands of all time. My fav track of theirs is Baba O'Riley. That's Kieth Moon who you're admiring....he was/is deemed one the most legendary drummers of all time, smashing his drum sets on stage and playing drums like no one else had until this time. He destroyed hotel rooms too, he was known as being very wild and over the top! They are a legendary band.
I saw The Who in 2019 and the singer Roger Daltrey still had. He sounded great. He would swing the mic around and around by the cord and then sling it way up in the air and then catch it. When I first saw them in 1970 they even more energetic.
Polo welcome to the worldwide WHO army. You are now one of us. Great news for you is that there are plenty of great tracks to explore. They are among the greatest rock bands of all time!
The greatest rock song ever written Somebody else said that The Who were the only band with a Lead Singer, a Lead Guitarist, a Lead Bassist and a Lead Drummer.
Polo, you should go ahead and watch the whole of "The Kids Are Alright" documentary/concert film if you want to jump into The Who. I'm enjoying your journey so far.
My older brother took me to the debut of The Kids Are Alright rockumentary and that was it. The music, band, movie grabbed me by the short hairs and from that point forward for years I was a huge fan. I took an intense deep dive into both the band and the music. A few years later it came to theatres again. I was employed at my local drive in theatre and during the week the showings were very light. I got to watch it every night for weeks. @redjack999 is right, you need to see the movie.
Great to see you discovering The Who for the first time. I’d highly recommend you look at their Woodstock, Isle of Wight and Rolling Stones ‘Rock & Roll Circus’ live performances to really capture what the band was capable of. For studio recordings then the album Quadrophenia is a must, as is Who’s Next. Enjoy ✌🏻
Had to comment because I started following you because of your Elvis reactions which of course he his my personal favorite voice and talent but that being said alot people that hear someone say that they are an Elvis fan get pigeon holed as only liking him and his music which is far from the truth for me ..I'm a 63 yr old grandmother who still remembers and listens to all the fantastic music throughout my life..feel blessed to have had a great music exposure. music
The Who were my favorite band for many years. Travelled all over North America to see them. Was lucky enough to see Keith Moon 5 or 6 times. Live at Leeds and Quadrophenia were my favorite albums Who's Next was their most popular album....
Indomitable The Who. Unique, absolute rock history staple and incredibly influential. I hope you listened to the studio version. The second scream after the second transition on that version is the best scream in rock history. And I think that's saying something.
I believe it was Kiss who beat them out some time ago. After that, Guinness decided it was of best interest to stop tracking that record. I saw The Who once in '89 with Simon Phillips on drums outdoors at Giants Stadium. My ears weren't right for days.
I saw The Who four times, three indoors and one outdoors, and believe it or not the loudest concert I ever heard was a Doobie Brothers show in St. Louis
The Who's early live stuff is amazing. Young Man Blues from the Isle of Wight is epic as well; but my favorite is what's on their Live at Leeds album - recorded on a night when they were at they're best. My Generation is an incredible 15 minute medley with one bangin' riff after another. EPIC RAW POWERFUL
It is amazing - the energy level that you see in this video lasts for entire concerts. I have seen The Who live a number of times, and it is ALWAYS a great show.
"Straight rock stars". That's a very accurate take on this. I saw them in Atlanta in the very early 70s and their shows were all epic. In fact, their performance at Woodstock is legendary. Pete Townsend is one of the best rock songwriters ever. I'm certain you've heard and might recall many more songs of theirs than you may realize. Pinball Wizard. My Generation. Love, Reign O'er Me. Just to name a few. Thanks for this one!
Recommend doing the studio version, you really need to hear the drummer, Keith Moon playing OUT OF HIS DAMN MIND - II've listened to it a million times and it still blows me away.
The Who were the greatest live rock & roll band ever, full stop. If you want to check out more of this energy from them, try "A Quick One (While He's Away) from their Rock & Roll Circus performance. The drummer, Keith Moon, is really on fire in that one.
I saw the Who 4 or 5 times pre-1977. First time I ever saw lasers was at one of their shows, circa 1976. Them and Tull were by far the most entertaining live groups of the era
Fellow Clevelander here. The Who is one of the great rock bands ever. They held the world record for loudest rock band. They were the band playing in Cinci when the people died in the rush to the stage ending festival seating at concerts. The lasers were cool in this video, when this was made they were a new thing so bands were experimenting with them a lot. Saw them twice - once the old coliseum and at the old stadium downtown
I remember that night in Cincinnati. My little brother, and his high school friends, went to this show. There were parents and families all across the region pacing the floors until about 2:00 am. None of them knew about the tragedy that happened so near them. After the concert they went to a local Skyline Chili Parlor and stayed until it closed at 1 am. It was one of the longest nights of my life. But the kids and the band were not aware of what had happened and had a great night. The next morning my little brother found out one of his good friends had died.
Looking back at 69 thinking how fortunate I was to be young in an era when so many legendary bands were making music which will be revered for generations and the Who are certainly in that category.
It IS an All-Star squad: lead everything. And this is one of the 3 best performances I've ever seen, with Santana at Woodstock and Dire Straits(Sultans of Swing, Alchemy tour). They're all of it, and I'm so glad you caught this! Try "Who Are YOu", the version that's "live' in the studio as they recorded it; spectacular. BTW, 'energy guy' is the core, the songwriter, Pete Townshend.
Great song; one of my favorites and I was looking forward to seeing your reaction. I love watching bassist John Entwistle play, talk about flying fingers. You should watch their documentary with concert footage The Kids Are Alright, it's wonderful and unjustly forgotten these days. It's a shame that the song was wrong; in the end, we sure got fooled, over and over again.
As a teen..this song epitomized ..energy, crazy rock fun...the breakdown with the drum solo is FIRE 🔥...followed by a primordial scream !..studio version 👍
The Who are one of my all-time favorite rock bands. They were one of the most influential bands to shape the future of rock. Every member of this band is top in their instrument and Roger Daltrey is an incredible singer as well. Great song, super charged with energy. Thank you.
Every member of this band is beyond the very best in their field. The Who were my first favorite band. I discovered them when I was 11. They changed my life.
Thank God for the “British invasion “ in the 60’s & 70’s! The Stones, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, David Bowie, Queen, and on and on. These guys were influenced by our early Rock n Roll & the black blues artists and took Rock to a whole new level! I’m so happy I got to see most of them in their prime & when a concert ticket costs 15$ and you got to see at least 2 bands! 🤟🏼✌🏼🙌🏼
This show was filmed at Shepperton Studios in England. At the time the movie “Alien” was in production 1 studio over from within the complex, the cast of the movie is in the audience. They decided to ask the band to borrow the lasers from their show to use in some of the scenes.
This is why rock was great!! And all the reactors living these moments now, as us old guys and girls did, just keeps the music alive!! Great reactions, Polo
My favorite band of all time. You're right, they were an all-star team. A various times considered the best on the instrument they played. Glad you enjoyed it!!
This is another great band to do some reactions, Polo go down the rabbit hole. (Talking about my generation) literally, and yes there is a song of theirs with this title🔥💥‼️💯 Thank you for the morning wake up✌️
Magic Bus is another song you'll like along with I can see for miles & miles. Then when you have time to listen to an entire album there's "Tommy." It's a one of a kind Movie/Album. All star cast Ann Margaret, Elton John, Tina Turner, etc.
I saw them perform in 2000. It was a little more than 20 years after this performance. But the energy was still there and one of the best live shows I’ve ever seen.
The one you have to see and hear is The Who performing young man blues live at the Isle of Wight festival . It’s the best live rock performance by anybody I’ve ever seen
The Who's catalog is huge and varied in style. You can think they were great just from the studio songs but add in they are one of the best live bands, puts them right up there as one of the most incredible. For me it looks like they are having so much fun. Did you catch the lead singer's mic swinging? He could use that that as a weapon.

The greatest scream in rock 'n roll.
In my Top 3. Bruce Dickenson on Number of the Beast is right there with Roger in my opinion
It's easy to overlook how amazing John Entwistle was on bass. It's like he played both his notes and what a rhythm guitarist would have played.
Love his song, “905”, so under appreciated!
Fortunately, there are a few individual shots of him where you can really see just how much accomplished movement is he doing on the bass...
The late John Entwhistle (The Ox) that is, unfortunately passing due to heart attack induced by a large amount of cocaine fairly late on in his 50’s, a day before The Who’s first date on their US tour.
He was in bad health anyway, hence the heart attack.
Fantastic and legendary bass player, one of the top 5 in the world of Rock.
John Entwistle was like JPJ with Led Zeppelin - he was the adult in the room, when the other band members were going nuts, but he was a stellar musician!
There is a video of John's isolated performance of this video. After watching it, one can easily understand how he got the nickname "Thunderfingers"
Best scream in rock history. Gives me chills every time.
Yes, that scream is SO badass 😎
No comment on the lyrics? Possibly the greatest political anthem ever.
Truly. And unfortunately, even more relevant today than when the song was written. I really wouldn't have guessed it at the time, it seemed like the world was making progress toward being a better place. Today, not so much.
Couldn't agree more. I wish more people would get the message, although many deservedly love the music.

@@calguy3838 he also said Keith taught him how to destroy Hotel rooms. 😆
If you look closely, he has his headphones duct-taped to his head because he played so wildly that they would just fly off.
More like self destructive life style.
My favorite British band 😊
It should be noted the drummer, Keith Moon, is the reason the Muppet "Animal" exists. Based entirely on him. And he was a legendary troublemaker.
Animal was based on Ginger Baker. It even looks like Ginger Baker.
Even Animal's playing with his mouth open was a nod to Ginger Baker.
You said that with such authority I almost believed you
@@dyldog fool that I am I relied on an interview I saw featuring Roger Daltrey. I assumed he would know.

One of the best ever. Listen to all of their songs. Your ears will thank you.
Ageless and timeless classic, smashing performance ceilings with this song. This concert has a few videos, check out the live "MAGIC BUS".
YESSSS they are ROCK STARS ✨!! ❤❤❤
Not like music today !
Not even close !
Recommend doing the studio version, you really need to hear the drummer, Keith Moon playing OUT OF HIS DAMN MIND - II've listened to it a million times and it still blows me away.
I'm 67 years old and every time I watch this performance I get a little teary eyed near the end.
Brother Polo, I just wanted to thank you for your service to all of us out here who grew up on rock and metal. Cheers to you!!!!
This is my favorite Who song. They are also my favorite live band. I have seem them three times.
Another UA-camr reacts to this Song wirh: This is what Coffee need in the Morning to woke up..... I totally agree with this!
One of the best songs ever, the last words explains it all, "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss"
I’m truly enjoying revisiting the music of my youth thru your eyes and ears. Thank you for introducing it to a whole new generation.
"An All-Star Squad." Indeed. Like no other band ever.
Thank you.
One of the best live recordings ever. Miss Keith Moons drumming, antics…everything. ☮️❤️
And The KINKS!L
This show was filmed at Shepperton Studios in England. At the time the movie “Alien” was in production 1 studio over from within the complex, the cast of the movie is in the audience. They decided to ask the band to borrow the lasers from their show to use in some of the scenes.
There was more talent on that stage than in any five other concerts.
This is why rock was great!! And all the reactors living these moments now, as us old guys and girls did, just keeps the music alive!! Great reactions, Polo
this song, the power, the lyrics. the energy....song of a generation!
My favorite band of all time. You're right, they were an all-star team. A various times considered the best on the instrument they played. Glad you enjoyed it!!
Pete Townshend windmilling with the greatest guitar amps ever.
Roger Daultry singer, Pete Townsend guitar, Keith Moon drums, John Entwistle Bass
This is another great band to do some reactions, Polo go down the rabbit hole. (Talking about my generation) literally, and yes there is a song of theirs with this title🔥💥‼️💯 Thank you for the morning wake up✌️
Guitar: Pete Townsend
Vocals: Roger Daltrey
Bass: John Entwhistle
Drums: Keith Moon
Always loved this song
"Wont get fooled again " and "Baba O Riley " are legendary songs... Thanks for playing them!
One of their absoolute best!
I've been lucky enough to see them twice and each time they just blow me away. The only band ever to have leads in every department.
Best rock scream of all time! Studio version even better, but amazing performance. Thank you
The one you have to see and hear is The Who performing young man blues live at the Isle of Wight festival . It’s the best live rock performance by anybody I’ve ever seen
I think "Love, Reign O'er Me" by them. Amazing song.
It's my favorite band of ALL time.
The who "live at leeds " is phenomenal from start to finish.
You'd probably recognize their power intros from all the CSI Shows that introduced a new generation to the power of the WHO!❤😂
Keith moon on drums sounds like a whole orchestra of drummers. Tommy has some of the best drums ever played on an Album.
The Who's catalog is huge and varied in style. You can think they were great just from the studio songs but add in they are one of the best live bands, puts them right up there as one of the most incredible. For me it looks like they are having so much fun. Did you catch the lead singer's mic swinging? He could use that that as a weapon.
