This is a really interesting interview at least the 4 minutes that I got to see of it and hearing him say that he loved John it made me get tears in my eyes. 😢 Paul McCartney, as was John Lennon both were such a class act.❤️
Nice to see Paul in full flow. The best interviewers imo are the ones who know their subject without referring to a big book of notes, quite disrespectful really especially considering the status of this man.
Why do they insist on asking the same questions over and over, if I had one question to ask Paul it would be, "did you ever record yourself chewing down on a piece of celery on the beach boys song vegetables" I mean come on, that myth is still a myth
For real! I am kinda tired of hearing the same questions over and over. Now I think about it, I wonder if Paul's team go over and choose what questions will be asked. And that's a great question/myth to ask him! Im trying to think what crazy question I would ask him, and of course, I can't think of any right now lol.
I agree. Paul's always interesting to listen to because of his personality and who he is, but there are tons of questions that are never asked. The question about dreaming a song is way over asked. I mean, I think everybody in these comments knows about Yesterday and Let it Be.
Alex, I can confirm that myth is actually true. He was visiting his great friend Brian Wilson, and as he told it, there was a lot of substances around at that time lol. He is on it, although he has little recollection of the recording. 😀
To our generation, this would be like sitting down with any songwriter from the past, ( Cole Porter, Harole Arlen, George Gershwin, etc., ) and getting the straight story on creating music. And Paul's love for John is evident in his song, " Here Today. "
I was at the live event in the video and he talked about it some more - it's apparently shown in the book that just released, like a photo scan of the pages; can't seem to find any images about it online though.
Yes! I was thinking the same. What's the play they were writing about? Was it a comedy, a drama, what. John had a flair for writing, having authored two books of Joycean poetry and abstractions. Apparently, Paul excelled in creative writing at school. Both possessing fanciful imaginations, along with keen observational skills. And, we know what successful lyric writers they became, esp John. I'd love to check this out. Even if it's just a crude outline. I wish I could've heard Paul elaborate more.
I, for one would like to have Paul confirm or deny that the last time Paul spoke to John on the phone, John said, "think of me now and then my old friend" and that Carl Perkins song with a lyric that said that was written before Carl knew the story. It's a well known anecdote but it may be just wishful thinking on the fans part.
John told Paul he loved him the only way he could, In music. Go play " In my life" John's talking about Paul. Go listen to it. It's so perfectly and beautifully written. " Of all these friends and lover's there's no one who compares with you". Get it now?
@@rodgerrodger1839 I think you’re confusing it with Jealous Guy. Paul NEVER said In My Life was about him. He has said Jealous Guy was about him however.
I can remember exactly where I was when I first heard for the first time many of The Beatles songs - I can't say the same thing with any other band us boomers grew up with - How lucky we were growing up with The Beatles
Listen to his "Here Today".I knew it was something special and should be forever singled out as Paul's greatest testament to his devotion to John as his kindred spirit and friend.Tears me up-it did the same for Paul, the first few times he started including it in concert set lists.
There's A song called life is the blues. She passed. Before he ever told her . " He never said I love you. I want you to stay. He would give his soul to relive that day.
In a Zoom pod cast a few weeks ago he talked about that. He said that due to the pandemic he’s at home for longer periods of time and he’ll let it grow for a couple of weeks and then shave it off. He said he’s been doing that since the pandemic/ lockdowns began.
@@andrewclavin7447 I think I was joking from memory, Wings are 2nd favourite McCartney band, My musical taste like many is wide and varied, from AC/DC through to Whitney Houston, Marvin Gaye through to ABBA, I'm over 50, nothing new is good imo.
It's funny how one-hit wonders can go on the media and regale us with stories of their career; usually one or two anecdotes that they tell over and over again and eventually bore everybody with. With the Beatles, their story is so phenomenal, McCartney could spend days recounting stories of the band, and never repeat himself. Their story is absolutely unbelievable. The Beatles are not just a once-in a lifetime phenomenon; they're a once, only, EVER phenomenon. There will never be anything that comes anywhere near to the Beatles. That ship has sailed. I'm so glad that I was on the planet at the same time as the Beatles. McCartney's talent appears to be beyond human capacity. Peak musical genius has already been reached. It's all downhill from here, unfortunately.
this interview reminds me of the phrase "do you really understand that you love someone, only when you have lost them" And repentance begins, about never having said a simple "I love you" to him
Billy still slips occasionally. Beginning at 2:57 …. The archive department had things of his he didn’t even know. Which were “fascinating”. Then says... “And it came up in a conversation as I was saying to Paul”. Huh?
McCartney has a good heart. Lennon got pretty nasty about their break at times but Paul has processed that and remains the best person to keep John's memory a good one....
And for me it is great to realize how much I love this man, meaning Paul. He is such an original, inimmitable, authentic, genuine, good man. (And a living legend.)
I love getting to watch Paul talk about his life and his music. I don't know if anyone aside from Michael Jackson could ever fully comprehend or come close to the worldwide cultural impact the Beatles had, and had to live through. It's fascinating to me.

And no, McCartney could never write a song like “Strawberry Fields Forever”, let’s make that clear. Nor “Tomorrow Never Knows”, “Across the Universe” or “I am the Walrus” to name a few
Brian Wilson too
Lmao. Stevie Wonder and Brian Wilson would like a word!
I use to go the cavern when I was 17..1962..I remember the beatles 🎶 they were far the beat group around at the time. They were playing live.. they were brilliant on the guitars. The drummer was good. They never sold alcohol in the cavern. You at to get a pass out and go to a pub in the same street. Good memories. Why they was so good they wrote their own 🎵.. I went to see them on the empire in lime Street. Liverpool.
Wow that’s amazing
woah thats incredible-
@@soap5413they wasn't big heads . That's why the public, like them. Play their records listen to the words. Let it be. Penny lane. John was a one off

Paul, we all love John and we love you too
The Disney+ compellation of the Rooftop concert in London, January 1969, shows that they are true friends, and have the greatest respect for every member in the band and entourage.
John knew you loved him, Paul. You told him through your songs.
AS A FAN OF JOHN LENNON AND THE REST OF THE BEATLES IM HAPPY TO KNOW THAT.I ALSO LOVE THE BEATLES. JOHN PAUL GEORGE AND RINGO. THE WHOLE WORLD LOVE THEM.
The best band in the world!! Fact 💯
.. love you Paul. ..love you Ringo. 🕯️🕯️
I love Paul McCartney, he's an amazing person and I cannot imagine if I ever met him... The amount of questions I would've have for him.
What a sweetheart 🥰
I love him so much.
Amazing to think this unassuming guy is a musical genius that has been putting out songs for sixty years.
William's real career started late 1966 when he replaced JPM "as an already set up affair".
I would ask Paul how often does he think about John or Linda.
He has been asked that too.
Paul is a great person.
William is an arrogant man who is in love with himself.
To our generation, this would be like sitting down with any songwriter from the past, ( Cole Porter, Harole Arlen, George Gershwin, etc., ) and getting the straight story on creating music. And Paul's love for John is evident in his song, " Here Today. "
You know you're big when you have an "archive". You know you're HUGE when your archive has stuff in it you didn't even know you had!
What a lovely interview.
aw that's just tragic, RIP John :( hope ur doing ok Paul
Paul Mccartney trying not to tell everybody how let it be was written : 😓 😓 😓 😓
Paul, I bet John knew that you loved him.
Paul is still so humble and close to his Liverpool roots, even today. An amazing person he is!
"Sir Paul" (William) have zero Liverpool roots.
I believe he knows Sir.🙏
Even if it's just a fraction of a scene, I'd like to read the play they tried to write together.
@@ytcorporate9237 Wow. Then, he didn't elaborate further on this play, it seems. Cool you got to go. I'll have to look for the book, as it were.
I'm sure it didn't need to be said, it was a telepathy they shared of their admiration and love for one another
I thought you were me for a second

“Are you listening to me, Lennon?”
@@therealharambe7579 Yer' a swine, innit he George?
I, for one would like to have Paul confirm or deny that the last time Paul spoke to John on the phone, John said, "think of me now and then my old friend" and that Carl Perkins song with a lyric that said that was written before Carl knew the story. It's a well known anecdote but it may be just wishful thinking on the fans part.
This show is very touched.... Let it be.. It makes me big smile and giant hug. Thank you for sharing.
The band that keeps on giving
John told Paul he loved him the only way he could, In music.
Go play " In my life" John's talking about Paul.
Go listen to it. It's so perfectly and beautifully written.
" Of all these friends and lover's there's no one who compares with you". Get it now?
deadass???
I thought John wrote 'In my life' after Stuart Sutcliffe died and he was the inspiration behind the song.
@@TWisM009 in a interview with McCartney he said the song was about him. It was awkward but it makes perfect sense.
@@rodgerrodger1839 Can you link us to that interview please? I believe the song is about Paul but never knew he had confirmed it. Thanks :) x
YES !! we are very lucky to know them and there songs
You both know you did that's the important thing! Guys are more emotionally crippled but it's getting better all the time
Don't worry Paul, John knows
One day we will all get to tell the ones we love how we really feel... I hope for that every day
This made me cry 😭
Paul McCartney...One of the greatest musicians of all times ✌️
Paul is very down to earth. It's great when he talks of the old times with his own family. 🇬🇧
William is very overrated and in love with himself.
But they dedicated many love songs to each other ❤️❤️
Listen to his "Here Today".I knew it was something special and should be forever singled out as Paul's greatest testament to his devotion to John as his kindred spirit and friend.Tears me up-it did the same for Paul, the first few times he started including it in concert set lists.
There's A song called life is the blues. She passed. Before he ever told her . " He never said I love you. I want you to stay. He would give his soul to relive that day.
Just finished episode 1 of Get Back.. Paul was a very hardworking man.
Paul & John changed the world
Intellectual answers Paul great 👍 👌 👏
💖🙏💞
“Those that tell the truth normally get knocked down.” Hard concept to swallow in this shallow world..
I love the Beatles songs but people forget after that -the wings - he wrote some of the best songs yet! IMO
Greatest love story that ever existed
Just a true hero of music ❤
Ayy Paul’s Growing his beard again.
McBeardy is making a comeback lmao
In a Zoom pod cast a few weeks ago he talked about that. He said that due to the pandemic he’s at home for longer periods of time and he’ll let it grow for a couple of weeks and then shave it off. He said he’s been doing that since the pandemic/ lockdowns began.
John knows you love him.
John didn't love William. John loved the real JPM.
Paul looks great! God bless!
"Bloody hell That's the play" Paul always amuses.
Thé Beatles this a beautiful man's,thé story IS pagicand thé for pepole this Magic thé Beatles forever
He's told us so many times he has though. I like to believe that 🚶♀️🚶♂️🚶♀️🚶♂️
Great Interview, still my favourite band, Band on the Run is a classic.
Wings are your favourite band?!
@@andrewclavin7447 I think I was joking from memory, Wings are 2nd favourite McCartney band, My musical taste like many is wide and varied, from AC/DC through to Whitney Houston, Marvin Gaye through to ABBA, I'm over 50, nothing new is good imo.
Love you both
John forgives you, Paul. He knows you loved him and he loved you as well. What a team of musical geniuses.
Paul and John had a great relationship.
However John and William could not stand each other.
Not to worry much about telling John. Actions always speak louder than words, as we know.😮😊
Didn’t he once say he and John told each how much they loved one another during the diverted trip to Key West?
i recall that !
they were roaring drunk 🙂
I’m sure somebody said the same thing when Mozart died-The Beatles of his time.
Listen to Sky by Playboi Carti
That play will be on Broadway in a couple of years.
yes PAUL you love that man call JOHN !! wonderfull
this interview reminds me of the phrase "do you really understand that you love someone, only when you have lost them" And repentance begins, about never having said a simple "I love you" to him
He’s a National treasure
Can you imagine that!!!? Paul, we want to see the play!
Tge day Paul is 80. I WILL FEEL OLD!!!! Feb 9 1964. I was 10🌹🌹💖💖🌍🌍
Billy still slips occasionally. Beginning at 2:57 …. The archive department had things of his he didn’t even know. Which were “fascinating”. Then says... “And it came up in a conversation as I was saying to Paul”. Huh?
Paul is my favorite musician ever!!!
It's one of those things where neither of them even had to say it.
Some words never need to be spoken.
