This hit single by Sammy "Bo" Jackson was a Fathers Day favorite played by dads everywhere. Sam's own father use to sing a version of this song to him before he would go get his belt. Sam's father didn't like the incoming fashion of skinny ties and thin belts, and in response he started his own collection of giant over-sized ties and belts. 'Needless to say' his children, including Sammy "Bo", were the most well behaved children in their entire town.
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
All day long all you do is play
you never seem to want to obey
Just wait until daddy gets back
This belts gonna whoop that a**
[Verse 2]
Kids have a hard time listening
Dads got a black belt in discipline
I pity the fool who eats the last rib
Do not test me kids (oh sh*t!)
[Chorus 1]
Son its gonna hurt like hell
Feel pain like you've never felt
Give your a** a giant welt
When daddy gets his belt (Woo! yeah)
[Bridge]
If you break my turntable (turntable)
I will make you disabled (disabled)
Don't you dare scratch daddy's car (oh no)
Or he will leave you a bad a** scar (yeah!)
[Verse 3]
Daddy's belt is completely unstoppable
With pain that seems physically impossible
Hope you stayed out of trouble today
Cuz daddy is on his way (oh sh*t!)
[Chorus 2]
Son its gonna hurt like hell
Feel pain like you've never felt
Give your a** a giant welt
When daddy gets his belt (Woo! yeah)
[Chorus 3]
Son its gonna hurt like hell
Feel pain like you've never felt
Give your a** a giant welt
When daddy gets his belt (Woo! yeah)
[Outro]
Daddy's gonna whoop that a**
oh yeah
Happy Father's Day, everyone. Dads, keep whoopin' that ass.

You ain’t had a childhood if you don’t know the sound of a leather belt slapping against belt loops on blue jeans as it’s being ripped off
Or the feeling of having your jeans yanked down, ass exposed, leather slapping while he’s yelling. Trick is to scream and cry-right pitch n time. Then your ass is red n stings, unable to sit for a while. All joking aside, I love you, dad, rest in peace. You did a good job raising me
My dad was nice enough to only threaten with the belt, but the homemade flat wooden swords… I’m just glad he didn’t screw holes into it
It was so nice for The Jackson 5 to hand this gem to someone else.
Underrated comment...
Cheers!
If everybody understood the full weight of this comment, it would be #1
They kept "Daddy Beat Us with the Buckle".
@@yojoe4830 how ironic, I actually got whipped like that, as a kid. My dad used the buckle on me.
@2Tall03XX
Irony would be if you did that to your dad and got away with it.
the good ole days, back when kids were kids and men were rampaging monsters
Now we have 96 orientations.
I don't know how women managed to survive that horrible period, spending an entire lifetime barefoot and pregnant confined to the kitchen, chained to the radiator and beat up with what's left of the belt after he's done wearing it out on the kids. The first pregnancy at age 9 was always the worst, after that you get used to it 'cause you're pregnant all the time. The beatings actually help forget about all the labor pain. All in all it was good times.
I'm slightly uncomfortable with all these ethnic looking fathers administering corporal punishment to all of these waspy looking kids. Especially during the civil rights era. I mean, I'm all for an equality based butt whippin but, let's keep it separate.
Say what you will, but there was order.
Now all we have is chaos and a black/fake/ghey feminist dystopian SOYciety that is going to collapse at any moment.
Very "Don Rickles" of you there Sir ! Also from this Era !
“If you break my turntable, I will make you disabled” 😂😂 I literally just choked cause of that line. This is a dangerous banger
Line of the millennia!
HAHAHA, so sick
Hahahahahaha best lyric ever
🤣😂🤣😂
One turning wheel for another. Sounds fair.😂
“Kids have a hard time listening, dad’s got a black belt in discipline.”
Hardest bar of 2024
Not a villain, not a hero.
Just a man with a lesson to teach.
He is judgment and executioner.
Now that's a tag-line for a 70's movie where a former God Fearing marine-turned- teacher in a Harlem school for uncouth youths turns vigilante when he discovers The Principle is on the take from the gang that runs the halls, he takes it to them to lay down some heavy discipline. Armed with only his iron clad sense of right and wrong, and his belt nicknamed Gabriel which was given to him by his C.O. and mentor in ' Nam.
Preach it brother, preach it!
These mfs are villians 😂
@@draco_1876I am crying.🤣🤣
🎵" I pity the fool who eats the last rib .... Do not test me kids "🎶 😂🤣
OH SHIT! 😂
“Who ate the last of my lemon pepper stepper chicken?!”
I still remember Mom yelling at me for taking the last pink lemonade.
Ain't nobody comin' back from that, sucka!
"Kids gotta hard time listenin.
Dads gotta black belt in discipline"
That needs to be on a Teeshirt
"Kids have a hard time listening, dad's got a black belt in Discipline." is an unironically awesome line.
Getting whipped with the WWE Heavyweight Championship Belt must've been a treat😭😭🤧
In my experience the slim but thick belts hit the hardest.
Chris Benoit: well....
Them 1960's ass whoopins was no joke.😂
Latinamericans + Asians: 60s...???
They keep beating us (sometimes even in adulthood)
or worse when they are too many siblings they sended the oldest brother to whooping us in his name
I haven't cried tears this hard since daddy got a new buckle for his belt 😭
Holy shit all the comments here have destroyed my sides! But not as bad as daddy‘s belt did…😂
Good thing you didn't mess with his turntable 😅.
@@capitans12 WHAT NO WAY BRO????? 😭😭😭🗣️🔥🔥🙏🙏🙏
A father's day classic
The more you run, the worse it’s gonna be when he catches you.
SO TRUE 😂
"do not test me kids" its like poetry.
I lost my dad last April. I miss him dearly, I wish I could play this for him
Condolences friend
Lost my dad last April, too. He would also have enjoyed this. You have my condolences, friend. Best wishes for you; and a salute for your father 🫡
You’re not alone, hun. My dad passed away in February. He would’ve gotten a kick out of this song.
@@kiko485 Same with mine, he'd have laughed himself sore. 😆
This track really whips.
The *”oh shit”* fucking killed me 😭💀
This is EXACTLY how I remember Dad coming home.
I remember this song as a child in 1967.😀 When I was 8, I hid my report card from my parents because I had a F.😮 My dad whooped me with a belt that looked like the WCW World Heavyweight Championship Belt!😫😭😏
You probably didn’t get spankings growing up?🤔 I feel sorry for you.😔😏
Discipline in the house in today’s generation would sound like a lie because it’s unheard of?🤔 I see why you would call me a liar.😏
@@RickMichaels-if5eqthat you said you listened to this back then. You rlly think Bo Jackson is a musician?
What chu talkin’ ‘bout, Willis?🤔🤣😏
The Dads with the SUPER belts and the kids running is too funny.
Cheers!
@@JohnSmith-zw8vp We dont care if you think its funny or not. Plus its not women or dogs, its child that need discipline, I was one and turned out great.
“Son it’s gonna hurt like hell, a pain you never felt!”😂
When the wife won’t put out, and the kids are being lil shit heads…
LOL!
Those pictures are hilarious. 😂
Cheers!
I like that the dad seems heroic in some of them, like dad's belt protects, too.
Protects them from themselves
Kids left to themselves will do terrible things to each other. If they know that if one of them leaves marks on another, marks will be left on the perpetrators backside, they will play nice.
I have twins. With most infractions, I just tell them no or timeout, but one started biting the other and smiling when I told her no. That day she learned the hard facts about the swift hand of discipline. She hasn't bit her sister since.
Just like women, they’re overgrown kids, who occasionally need discipline…
I will never understand how psychological trauma or even transitioning toddlers is appreciated in society, but a slap, whose pain is gone after 2 minutes, is considered a warcrime.
@@M0butu because it doesn’t fit some people’s narrative.
I completely lost it at 1:12 "Daddy's belt is completely unstoppable, with pain that seems physically impossible" 😆😂🤣💀
"Spare the rod, spoil the child". That's what I used to chant right before dad whipped me with the buckle end for my dyslexia.
i remember the dyslexia beatings too, makes me think about revenge.
If I didn't get the buckle, I knew I wasn't bad enough!🤣🤣🤣
I got the buckle end to the side of the head when I was a kid. My younger brother was jumping on the bed and fell off and went crying to mom that I pushed him off. She whipped that belt out and got me upside the head.
@@JReed7560 I am so sorry that happened to you.
You don't deserve to be beaten for your disability.
I like how the belt looks like something an actual superhero would use.
In 1973 there was a copyright lawsuit taken out against Hanna-Barbera Productions, because Sammy "Bo" Jackson claimed that they had stolen the ideas from this song for the theme tune of their kid's TV series, "Wait 'till Your Father Gets Home." It looked like the animation company were going to settle with a large sum, but unfortunately, Sammy lost his temper in the court and backhanded a lawyer, after which the judge instantly dismissed the lawsuit. He quoted his own song in a press statement later that day where he said about the young lawyer in question, "Kids have a hard time listening, Dad's got a black belt in discipline."
Except “Wait Till Your Father Gets Home” premiered in 1972.
@@plawson8577 it would be difficult to accuse them of stealing ideas before the program aired, hence 1973.
This hits close to home...
Literally...
What I love about this is that every nationality has one! Daddy's belt has no discrimination or partiality! 😂😂😂
Thank you for the painful reminder of the typical '60s dad--my dad included.
Not only the 60s...
It worked didn't it?
"Kids have a hard time listenin'...Dad's got a black belt in discipline..." That line killed me. I swear, this almost sounds like a song We would've heard on Sesame Street, 3,2,1 Contact, and The Electric Company, in The Early 1980s on PBS. OH, SHIT!
Cheers!
Happy fathers day my fellow kings!!!
Daddy's got a black belt and discipline 😂😂
This reminds me so much of my late father, God bless him! I have him to thank for being a grown black man with a college education, a steady job, a traditional girlfriend and no illegitimate kids. What was his secret? You know the words…
🎶Daddy’s gonna whoop dat ass!🎶
the hits dont stop coming

Underrated comment
"Pressure makes diamonds" 😊
Love to see cultures unite.
The languages may be different
But whooping from your daddy's belt is international! 😂
"The Belt" truly the most terrifying superpower 😂
Daddy was layin' the Smack Down before The Rock was born.
Imagine slipping this into your grandma's vinyl collection and seeing if she notices 🤣🤣
I remember when this was a huge HIT for Sammy. On American Bandstand when they played it the boys would yank their belts off and use them to beat the girls buckle side out while the record played. The girl with the most welts on her face would win a prize, usually a case of RC Cola or a pack of Beachnut gum.
So this is where MR T got the phrase "I pity the fool" 😅
"Daddy's belt is completely unstoppable, with pain that seems physically impossible..."
Absolute top-shelf.🤣🤣🤣
Ha ha the photos are funny too. Some of those kids dont belong to those fathers!!!😂
It takes a village..😂😂😂
The real daddy is the one who cares enough to whup yo ass.
The whole neighborhood getting whooped!
When my father was a boy in the 1970s, he told me if you screwed up bad enough at a friend's house, their dad would whoop your ass, send you home, and then YOUR dad would whoop you again for embarrassing the family.
Edit: Of course, kids did more wild stuff back then, like stealing hood ornaments, setting cats on fire, and drinking lead paint.

I remember hiding all my dad’s belts as a kid. A very brazen gambit.
"When my father had something to say to me, he said it with the belt."
I wish John Witherspoon was around to hear this one. Daddy's Belt is basically the boss music that plays when Robert finds out Riley has been stirring up mischief, again.
Whenever my dad uses to play this back in 99', we knew he wasnt playing around no more
Lots of black dads chasing badass kids with his belt out
Rebirth of masculinity

Nah. If you can't get your point across with a spank, then using a belt won't get your point across any clearer. Use your brain and get creative: "I told you not to play ball in the house. Now I'm going to erase all your GTA save states." 😂
@@Kj16V damn. Thats a good one. *Scribbles note down furiously*
@@Kj16Vthe belt is the spanking.
I like how the belt is comically huge.
You're the best AI song artist on UA-cam, and that's no sh*t. Consistent laughs, and the songs actually sound and flow like real songs.
Very kind of you, much appreciated

Damn...these album covers be killing me.😂😂😂
Joe Jackson wrote this song but for some reason the Jackson 5 didn’t perform it.
They couldn’t stand for a week when daddy got that belt 😂😂😂.
A black belt in discipline and a PHD in pain.
Disobey and you won't be sitting for a month of sundays.🤣
I remember when we heard the snapping and we all ran off in different directions.
Playing this song in mono on your turntable because your son was playing with his slingshot inside the home. Just then child services knocks on the door 👀
And proceeds to give you a hi five
And if you run .... rest in peace.
I'm not gonna lie, this unironically slaps
Omg lmao lm having a 1970s 😭 flashback. RIP Dad.
I pity the fool
Who ate the last rib
Don’t test me, Kids
(OH SHIT!)
That one lives rent free in my head.
The song and the artwork evokes memories of playable vinyl records in Mad Magazine. This would have been a perfect combination.
I remember this song from when it played on "Morel Orel"! What a banger! :D
Memories... The whooshing of my grandpa's thick leather belt thru the air and the smack as it hit your skin... The other kids lined up on the couch, listening and looking at each other in fear waiting for their turns in the room of screams....!
Fine song
I am betting that a lot of these kids today have never felt that black leather belt.
As well as the sting of it afterward, like
back in the 1960s thru 1980s
The art is what elevates this to a true classic.
I am 46 and this is my dad with the 70s style: hair cut and belt!

Have you looked at some the kids faces . Some are pretty jacked up. I seen several kids missing teeth/ cleft palete and one kid had a mustache. 😂

This song reminds me of the time I sang B I Wear a Cape in kindergarten.
"B**** I wear a cape!"
Classic
Imagine daddy holding a wrestling championship title. The pain.
“Son, this is going to hurt you more than me. I mean that.”
I remember as a kid in the late 80s while still in a cast from a broken ankle getting caught running and bending over for that belt. Years later, get caught ditching school and it wasn't a belt but a 2X4 to the rear since we didn't have a paddle.
Dude you are a legend!
