This funk single by "Nick Ross and The Patriots" was released at the peak of the a*ds fear ep*demic / media prop*ganda campaign during the early 1980s. Nick wrote this song to mock the fear and paranoia being spread by the g*vernment and media, which at that time was making people afraid to swim, even in the middle of a summer heat wave.

I feel like there may have been prior racist harassment of those kids and she mistook the meme for more of it

Seeing everyone not know about Pool's Closed and Habbo Hotel made me realise that in internet terms I am old now.
The early 2000's were a great time. It was the wild west era of the internet, a time where 4chan "operations" ran free. Now the internet is so curated that anything silly or fun is immidately censored and blocked.

This is such a mood, I remember hearing about this in documentaries about the epidemic, which unfortunately took my great uncle. Its sad this attempt to fight back against the spread of the disease isn't better known, Habbo hotel was kind enough to run an event about it to spread awareness, but unfortunately racists fought against it. Such a tragic history of this song.

The pools may have been closed, but that certainly never stopped us from jamming to this back in the day. We'd gather outside, sometimes at the parking lots and other times by the fences. Some would even climb over the fences to dance inside, really sticking it to the man!
