Sadly I got to take one totally apart! Ran great for 4 minutes till a wing lost lift in a turn and it hit the ground. Total loss but I will say taking the turbine apart, their parts are made well. I was really surprised to see how it was constructed and put together. Not everyday one gets to take a good one apart. Lol. In my case there was no saving it. Thanks for the video!
have you tried any edf-gas-turbine combos, with equal power if electric or gas powered? how about gas turbine e-start with combined electric generator, for battery-supercap-edf usage?
EDF's are fun but don't have quite the power that the turbines have. Some of the new Jetcat turbines have generators on the front so you never have to charge your batteries! I haven't tried them.
@@thelightersideofrc will be !! with what can i glue my aluminium bulkhead on my fiber tank please ??? a very good epoxy can make the job if not to much liquid ??? thank you regards ....
Im wanting to get into the hobby of turbine rc but i have no idea where to start and what to get can you give me some advice i love youre videos and i love the detail keep up the good work
Thanks for watching James. I have been meaning to do a video series of starting in the turbine side of the hobby but haven't put it together yet. If you want, send me an email. thelightersideofrc@gmail.com
Hi. How did you powered on your ECU? I got my g4 turbine and i planing to use my own custom electronics, so i don't need receiver. When connecting GSU to ECU and applying 7v DC i have nothing and GSU screen remains dark. Do you know if i miss something ?
My preference is half expo on my turbines. I like the modulation on the lower end of the throttle curve. I have flown some others planes with linear and I could get used to it as well but i'm used to half expo.
i need a kero start plug ...but the price at the moment is beyond my pocket.. so much so i am tempted to have a go at making one it could work!!! regards laurence
Those reestarts are veeery hot, Ive tested in my jet legend 1/5 yak and It has the bifurcated pipe, mannn that thing was glowing red in the reestart test LOL, I tought it was going to fail.
Yea totally! It is quite interesting to run a turbine in the dark or lower light. Most that have never seen it are quite surprised at how the exhaust cone glows. Especially at full throttle!
Excellent video Jonathan, thank you. That is a really nice looking and performing engine - very nice. Those bubbles didn't really seem to make much of a difference (to me); are the odd bubble streams not really an issue with Turbine engines any more? Cheers mate.
Hey Murray. Thanks for watching. Most engines nowadays are pretty good with any bubbles in the lines. There’s still the odd manufacture that has issues with it still.
Enjoying these G4 Engines! Thanks for watching!
What’s the reason for the switch from jetcat to KingTech?
The Jetcat that was in there was older and the acceleration is very slow. That’s the primary reason.
@@thelightersideofrc Oh, ok.
You’ll never go wrong with a King Tech!!! Dirk at PCRCJ is phenomenal to work with!!!!
Dirk is great, Barry......not so much......
👍
Hey brother thank you for sharing your builds and reviews. People like you grow the jet community and advance our hobby. God bless!
I appreciate that! Thank You!😊
Nice video! great engine well explained really liked this keep up the good work!
Thank you very much!
I'm liking the new style starter. Nice turbines from Kingtech no doubt💖
Yea it’s a sweet setup!
Back in the bad old days compressed air you’d start them

Oh Dang! Sorry to hear that! That is never fun to have to go through that. It is cool that you got to take it apart and check things out! 😎
Great video!!! Thabks
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!😎

@@thelightersideofrc if teslas are any indicator of power, they should have at least the torque, 120krpm should not be an issue of fuel type used
hello have you video about K85 please ??? thank Adam
Hello Adam. Unfortunately No, I haven't tested the K85. Only thing close is the Swiwin 80

Check polarity on the plug. It may be backwards. When I do my turbine tests i'm using a spare receiver powered my a life for lipo battery.
@@thelightersideofrc Yeah, i checked polarity. Positie on square and negative on round. Is your ecu starts without anything else connected?
Shoot me a picture of you can. thelightersideofrc@gmail.com
@@thelightersideofrc Thanks! I just figured out! My connection was wrong 😁 It works now
Perfect 🤩. Good to hear!👍
Love your video! What throttle curve do you like best? Full Expo, half expo or linear?
My preference is half expo on my turbines. I like the modulation on the lower end of the throttle curve. I have flown some others planes with linear and I could get used to it as well but i'm used to half expo.
Why is it idling low revs ? I thought 125000 would be ok
Not sure.
So awesome 😎
Thanks 😁
What is the HP. ?
Turbines don’t get measured in HP. Turboprop engines will.
i need a kero start plug ...but the price at the moment is beyond my pocket.. so much so i am tempted to have a go at making one it could work!!! regards laurence
Also if your plug is internal you will need the turbine balanced after the change out.

Nice !!!

How do your neighbors feel when you run up your turbines?
Well......No one has called bylaw to complain.......YET!
engine fail after 2 hours.nobody helped with it junk jet
