If you don’t mind, i would ask a couple questions. What’s the most powerful jet engine you have tested. And how does one go about choosing a brand. Jet Cat, King Tech, jet central. I am indecisive and jets are expensive. How do I choose. Thank you. Love your videos. I ordered west systems 105 and 206 epoxy because of you. And 99% alcohol.
Hi Jonathan, Nice test run. Think you should get just about an 8 minute run at full throttle in the Ultra Flash. Will be nice to see it in flight with the new engine. BTW it's -40 where both temps match. :-) You and Katie stay safe.
Yea I usually fly about a 6:30 Second timer from gear up and land with about 1" left in main tank. Looking forward to the new flights with this engine! Ahhhh yes. The -40 match up. My error. Thanks for watching!
Yea. In fact jetcat has some of their Engines setup so once the turbine starts the starter motor spins and acts as a generator which charges various batteries on the aircraft!
Very nice video again love the Jet that it is going in. I think you need to take some money from this Jet Hobby and Buy some sweet set of Carbon Fiber Wheels since you like Carbon. Very sweet Bike. I ride Trek and do ride 3k to5k a year in Ohio. Take Care be safe Greg of Ohio
Wow! Why does this sound like you're tuning a radio on SW band? :D I've never heard those additional turbine noises ... but then again... I have no actual experience...
All turbines are rated at 15 degrees Celsius at sea level. We are at 3200 feet above sea level so output goes down. As temperature drops output goes up. As temperature increases output goes down.
@@thelightersideofrc I saw that also and I was just wondering if it was 1000g/min on 90% or 100% because I saw a lot of them say like for example 360g on 90%. And I saw it said 1000g but it didn't say if that was 90% or 100%(full throttle)
I'm thinking of getting a swinwin 80B being Kingtech doesn't make the K80 any more. I have a K60 in my first jet. The 80 will go in 1.8m Pilot RC Question: Is it a good idea to run a turbine at max thrust or should one back it down a bit? I like the idea of being able to adjust the rpm acc for faster response. Nice review of the swinwin.
Great turbine! I have one coming for a customer and will be doing an unboxing and test run video of the 80 very soon. Max thrust is the hardest on the turbine. Unless you have a scenario where you have too much thrust I’m not a fan of turning down the rpm. That’s what the left stick is for😉 As I have noted in my review videos of the 220 and 170 Swiwin tends to run a lower rpm and larger compressor than some of the competitors. This result is less max rpm stress.
Your channel is the most dangerous one on UA-cam cuz now my hobby specific savings are hellbent on getting a turbine model in a year or so. 😅Probably gonna do a t1-mini cuz the k60 or k85 turbine that it works with swaps to another jet that I'll want later. Time to spend the next year flying as much as possible and finding some turbine guys to talk to about what ill need and then finding a good teacher. Just the turbine tests seem so interesting. Quick question. Is a swiwin 80 the same as a kingtech k80 in size? (They make a k85 not a k80 but basically are the sizes universal?) If one manufacturer says its an 80 size as does another, that means they are roughly the same size i assume
Thanks Matthew! I'll add you to the list of people that blame me for their turbine addiction! 😂 You'll find that with most of the new turbines that will be the case. There is always some exceptions and maybe slight variations in diameter of the case of the engine. Some engines may be slightly smaller in size but they may turn 10k to 30k RPM more than others. That's why i'm a huge fan of the Swiwin's now. Good size engines. Larger intakes than most and lower max RPM to get the power. Good long term combo

i like jet munts better fuel mileage i also see the glassed fuse of the pc plane
Can any turbine i buy from that website can it be shipped in Los Angeles?
Everybody’s favorite neighbor. ;-) Seriously, this is amazing stuff. I’m used to electric park flyers, so big jets like this are the stuff of fantasy.
HAHA. Thanks Gryf! It's a pretty cool and amazing section of the flying hobby! I agree!
Thanks Jon~!

That thing sounds intimidating
Oh they all are! you should watch the 220 video!😳

Hello Jeff. I'm not understanding your 1 year comment?
Hi Jonathan,

I'll take two :D
Done! 😉. www.thelightersideofrc.com/shop
Hmm, not quite sure how you set up this weight scale to measure thrust here. Do you have another video or a clear explanation of how this is set up?
No specific video of my test stand. Basically it's a stand on Linear bearings with a pull scale setup.
Is it possible to drive a little generator with that turbine?
Yea. In fact jetcat has some of their Engines setup so once the turbine starts the starter motor spins and acts as a generator which charges various batteries on the aircraft!
good jet👍
Thanks 😊
Great video, thanks! Will you also test the new turbine SW240B?
Thanks for watching! Yea you bet! That's the plan!
@@thelightersideofrc Cool, I'm looking forward to it!

Thanks Gregory! I worked in a bike shop for about 10 years! Cycling was life then!
Johnathan just a question which air trap are you recommended for rc turbine jets
Hello Irvin. I prefer simple and function over form. All my aircraft get MAP air traps. modelaviationproducts.com
@@thelightersideofrc thank you Johnathan, I guess the size of the air trap depend on the size of the turbine .
Air trap size can stay the same. It’s the fitting size that changes with MAP products
@@thelightersideofrc got it..thank you so much for your help
190 in my flash yours should go well.
Heck yea! I pondered the 190 for the flash but the 160 that came out was already stupid fast (and fun). Maybe I should have gotten the 190🤔
Hello. where do I buy the usb pen from ? (That is the usb key to change the image on GSU and to download data from the ECU) ?
.
I don't stock them and haven't tried to order one yet. If your interested in one send me an email.
what kind of fuel do you use?
I use Kerosene or Jet A
Wow! Why does this sound like you're tuning a radio on SW band? :D I've never heard those additional turbine noises ... but then again... I have no actual experience...
HAHA. Great Question! it's basically the loud noise playing with the microphone. In person it just sounds like a jet engine blast!
@@thelightersideofrc wow I really wasn't expecting that. So just harmonics in the mic. Thanks for the clarification.
What about the output? In your video at full thurst you achieve 30.7 lb, on a turbine that should give 37.5? Why is that?
All turbines are rated at 15 degrees Celsius at sea level.
We are at 3200 feet above sea level so output goes down.
As temperature drops output goes up. As temperature increases output goes down.
@@thelightersideofrc thanks
I can't seem to find the fuel consumption of the Swiwin sw400pro do you know what it is per minute? Btw great review on the Sw170B!
Thanks!😎. Based on the specs it uses 1000g/min. For Kerosene that would calculate out to 1.22 L/min

@@thelightersideofrc Is that on 90% or full throttle when it uses 1000g/min?
@@bahz4292 Not 100% sure but based on my thoughts I would suspect that is at full throttle.
How much fuel will you be carrying on board your plane with this turbine?
Hey Larry. The Fuel tank setup holds 3915 ML/ 132 oz
