My nurse tells me if I have done everything to meet my babies necessities and she still won't stop crying and I feel overwhelmed, lay her in a safe space and go out of the room take a few minutes and come back. The baby won't be hurt and you'll feel better, please do this. It DOES NOT make you a bad parent. Feeling overwhelmed does not mean you dont love your baby.
@@kelseybarton people need to know that it is ok to let your baby cry for a few minutes, that won't hurt them. But an overwhelmed parent most likely will
Soso Sweetie i absolutely hate children but i have a special place for children who are abused/hurt and would go to the ends of the earth to protect them. how dare anybody hurt a child who didnt even ask to be here? thats the most evil thing i could ever think of.
My niece, who’s actually sitting right by me, was shaken as a baby by her moms boyfriend. I didn’t know my husband back then so I didn’t see the recovery and surgeries, but now at age 10 you can’t tell she ever went through that trauma. She’s truly blessed.
Caspar 618 yes she is because some children die years later after suffering slowly with severe brain trauma. I’m so happy for your family that she’s okay. She’s a fighter, truly. ♥️
Yup, it can be so stressful when a baby is screaming bloody murder and you have no idea why but in that moment, it's perfectly ok to put the baby in the crib and walk away from them for 10-15 minutes and close the door! It is in no way neglectful to do this (for those out there who are concerned about that) because yes, the child is upset but sometimes you just need a minute to collect yourself, get a drink of water, go to the bathroom, breathe in and out slowly for a few minutes before returning to the situation refreshed and able to emotionally handle the screaming.
Its much better to leave the room for a second than take your frustration out on a baby. I'm not a parent but babies crying in public can erk me, I could never understand the stress of being stuck in the same house with one.
I'm not a parent but 100% this. Way better to leave them in a safe place and take a breath and calm down then go back once you're no longer a potential danger.
Unfortunately, it is WAY more common than we think. That's why they have to include "don´t shake your baby" one thousand times in the hospital brochures.
In the midst of complete sleep deprivation and frustration I can see how it can happen. It's so bloody hard but it's important to put the baby down somewhere safe to take a few calming breaths, or ask for help when it gets to that stage. Having had a very difficult experience with a baby who nearly always cried because of reflux and not wanting to ever be put down or given to someone else, I can see how it happens all too easy if you have no help. Thankfully I had an amazing support system, I don't know how I would have coped without it.
Shaken baby syndrome usually occurs when a parent or caregiver severely shakes a child in frustration or anger, often because the child won't stop crying. Permanent brain damage or death may result. Symptoms include irritability, difficulty staying awake, seizures, abnormal breathing, poor eating, bruises, and vomiting Treatment will vary depending on complications related to shaken baby syndrome. In rare instances, breathing support or surgery may be needed to stop bleeding in the brain. It’s sad how someone can do this type of shit to baby
@@__yam1502 also remeber that's its totally OK to be frustrated and totally OK to put your child in a safe spot like their crib and leave to calm down it doesn't make you a bad parent. I think a big reason why this happens so much is that people aren't taught that it's OK to leave to cool off and it doesn't make them a bad parent.
Wow I had absolutely no idea that shaking a child could be so dangerous! As a child I used to dance around with my youngest brother. My parents told me not to but i just didn't understand. Glad he's okay! 😅
i’d agree, but the problem is most government’s first action would be to ban certain minorities from having kids, like how in many places gay couples can’t adopt kids :/
If hearing a baby or child cry makes you want to hurt them, you should NOT be around child or have children!! When people hurt children part of the consequences should be mandatory sterilization!
It's never easy being a parent and having frustrations is normal but unfortunately sleep deprivation does occur. Edit: if you don't get enough sleep your brain is going to go haywire and you will not think clearly and possibly make a horrible mistake. That is why it is so important to seek help when it starts to get overwhelming. NOT. JUSTIFYING. ABUSE.
@@paintingsbypellie I totally agree with you. I had PPD too (something you can't control) and it sucks. To everyone: You're allowed to have emotions (you're human) BUT! It's NOT okay to act on them inappropriately. If you get frustrated go into the other room and collect yourself. I felt frustrated with my baby a few times but I didn't hurt him, I sat him down, walked away and cried. When I was pregnant with my first child I heard stories from different parents. (Who were giving advice and shared their experiences) at one point they all had a thought and some acted on them but they regretted it and got help. Like I said having a baby is never easy and having no one to help you with your baby is extremely difficult. Only a narrow minded person/someone who never had a baby would judge and say these people shouldn't have children🙄 Edit: I'M. NOT. JUSTIFYING. ABUSE.
@@paintingsbypellie The fact that you didn't, even with the odds stacked against you, shows that you are a great parent. I am in awe and have nothing but respect for you. Wishing only the best for you and your son.
@@hly1226 I also had PPD, and I currently still have it. Suicide and leaving the baby is constantly on my mind. I also have other mental health issues as well as a serious chronic illness with limited help. Your comment is kind of ignorant to say the least. Parents need help, the stress can cause literally cause psychosis in many mothers, but for some reason it's a taboo conversation and no one talks about it. We need help and aid when we are in distress, not to be told we shouldn't be parents for having very human thoughts linked to mental illness
“He was charged.. ” doesn’t say how much he got...a year ? 2 ? Not enough for stealing someone’s life away. Hope the other inmates make his time worth the while.
My friend has a baby with shaken baby syndrome. The dad did it and got 4 years in prison. The little girl just turned 5 and he’s almost out. She’s such a beautiful little girl & it’s so sad to see how much of her life was stolen from her by her father.. and then to see how little time he got for taking it.
Tay Zerr good lord. People get more jail time than that for selling weed. The justice system is pathetic. I’m glad she’s okay but seeing things like this and feeling like they didn’t get justice makes me so upset.
‘Charged’ as a legal term doesn’t mean the same as it does in normal terms. It doesn’t mean he was given a fine like I think you have interpreted. Before a person goes to trial they have to be charged with a crime i.e. they are told the crime they’re under suspicion for. They can either plead guilty and be sentenced straight away or they can plead not guilty and have to go to trial where it’s decided whether they will be convicted of the crime (that’s when they’re found guilty and will then be sentenced). What you’re talking about is the sentence. Charging and conviction aren’t the same thing. Hope that makes sense :)
He really is ❤️ Dad's don't get enough credit, they have the ability to be the most amazing parents and a lot of times dad's get the short end of the stick and the bad reputations, but a lot of men out there are truly amazing dad's in every way, especially having a child that will live with you and need your care forever and still putting them first and helping them fulfill life to the best of their ability, it's a sacrifice you can tell he's proud to make. I feel like just like some women were born to be mother's, some men were born to be father's. There's good and bad on both ends, just wish father's got more credit, instead of the constant stories of the dead beat dad's when there are so many more amazing dad's out there who go unrecognized everyday.

@Buttered Toastthat's why we need to normalize that placing the child in a safe place and walking away IS OKAY. You are not being a bad parent for needing some time away from a stressful situation.
Thank you. You really have to look for a person who is calm, and patient and they are loving as well. They also need to be accepting of the child too. You really have to be careful with who you chose to love in this world
My step son was shaken by his bio dad at 3 months he's in prison for 20 years. He got more then a dozen surgerys and almost died again 2 years ago. Thank god he lived he's 4 and stronger then ever he's got his site back he walked by him self for 3 sec. It was a miracle.
Twenty Seventeen This is Matt's wife, the mother of the shaken baby survivor. His biological father ADMITTED to shaking him multiple times on 2 different occasions. Have you ever met a shaken baby survivor? Have you even done research as to the kind of damage it does to a baby? What the hell is wrong with you?
Matthew Klitz God bless you and your little stepson. Not all step-parents care as much for their stepchildren as you clearly do for yours. Your love and that of your wife will make the difference for your boy, as I’m sure you already know! Stay strong and know many people “out here” on the Internet care about you, too!
yes!!! bet they get let out on parole as well😡 they have ruined those childrens lives, they should be in prison for LIFE. and actual life not just 25 years😡
Unfortunately, Shaken Baby Syndrome can also apply to pets. I once baby sat a 1 year old who would pick up the family's pet kitten and violently shake it and the parents thought it was funny. I thought it was animal abuse. That poor kitten couldn't keep food down and would stagger like a chameleon when it walked. I don't blame the child for mistreating the kitten, I blame the parents who did nothing to teach their kid to be gentle with pets. A kitten is a baby too and should be treated with care like any human baby. I didn't babysit for that family after that and I don't know what happened to the cat. Probably died. 😢
No I didn't. However there were other concerning things going on in that house. And I heard through the grapevine that they lost custody of their kid and the grandparents took the child. Also to be clear, I never witnessed the kitten being shaken. It was something they brought up in a conversation and when I reacted with concern they kinda played it off like it wasn't as bad as it sounded.
Sarah Knight but you did say that you saw the kitten sick, not keep food down, and stagger when it walked. Can you please put in an Anonymous welfare check on the animal? No animal deserves to suffer.
You have to VIOLENTLY shake a baby to cause shaken baby syndrome. I have 2 nephews and a niece two have had head bumps that required stitches and they are ok. This never has to happen. I have done many years of babysitting and when I hit spots where I could not calm the babies down. I put them down in a safe place and called my mom to ask for advice or just talk to redirect from being in that moment. I had a little one that got ear infections a lot that I watched and those nights were spent pacing with her and talking and lots of shhh. It breaks my heart to see those who were born with no issue have their lives forever changed because of an adult’s lack of ability to take five and control themselves.😭. Justice is never served for this or any crime against a child.
Actually, you don't have to shake a baby very hard to cause this. Falling and getting bumps or even cuts on your head is different. When a baby is shaken their brain hits the sides of their skull multiple times causing brain damage. That's different than a fall which will cause the brain to hit only once or twice. Babies are a lot more resilient against falls than they are being shaken. I used to work at a daycare and was taught that you shouldn't even bounce a baby on your knee.
Shaken doesn't equal falls or bumps duh... you act like you know all about what shaken baby syndrome should be coz your niece or nephee bump their heads
Congrats on your little one! I can so relate to what you are experiencing. I was (and still am) the same when my little one was born... I bawled in the hospital when my daughter was just a few days old coz I overheard the doctors talk about a newborn baby girl who was abandoned at the hospital by her mother condemning her to life is the system ( where i live, only babies dropped at a "baby box", or kids whose parents have signed their rights away, or whose parental rights have been taken away because of serious abuse are adoptable. Abandoned children are not adoptable and the parent keeps their right to return for their child. Even years later.) I bawl watching videos like this too.... and it's been 5 years since my baby was born and it still hasn't changed.
SpiritDragoness - thank you! - I can’t even fathom abandoning my child and I cannot believe those parents have the option of returning even years later after dumping them off somewhere 💔
When I became a mother, my mom warned me that ALL parents get to their breaking point sometimes, and you just have to put the baby safely the crib and walk out of the room. Crying in the crib for a few minutes while mom or dad calms down won't hurt them.
Yeah, it's normal to feel like you want to hurt your baby. It's scary and no one wants to admit it, but it's true. The main thing is not to give into that urge. It's OK to let the baby cry, to walk away and let the baby cry and scream.
The dads, stepdads, boyfriends, and even mothers who cripple little children like this are nothing less than criminals. This offense should be elevated to the level of at least Class B Felony, classified as a hate crime (against children), and be ineligible for plea bargaining. The judge who tries to override these penalties should be fired, disbarred, and imprisoned.
The system is made to protect these criminals! I have 7 kids and I raise them alone but I will never no matter how hard it gets EVER SHAKE MY DAMN BABIES!!!!!!! I rather be alone raising kids then to have a monster abuse my children ever again!!!!!!!!
ABSOLUTELY!! I believe this is something that needs to be addressed during election rallies. Judges and Sheriffs and Mayors (since they basically run police departments) should be questioned on the laws and punishments for child abusers. The voters can change things.
june bug Yes, but it shouldn’t be just men who are singled out, even if it’s 1 woman for 1,000 men who abuse, ALL parents should have to watch it, at the very least so everyone understands it’s ok to leave a crying baby in a safe crib and step outside for a few minutes to cool down before doing something so vicious to a defenseless baby, toddler, child.
I agree should be required for all parents. I saw it in a school class presentation given by a mom who lost her baby boy jake to SBS. Hearing her tell the story will never leave me. I cried in study hall that day. I knew that children depended on parents and babysitters and to realize that a daycare provider hurt her baby to that extent made me extra cautious with the little ones I took care of. I got angry at a mom because she told me to be careful not to shake a little one so much. There is no way I was shaking her. I had her wrapped and cradled in my arm with her head supported and I was bouncing and singing along to a song with an older child that was at the same place. Like seriously you can’t give SBS if you are taking the correct precautions. It made me feel like I knew nothing about what I was doing however at the same time I knew differently because I had done similar things to baby cousins when they were small and nothing like that was ever said.
I was exempt from that because I watched videos on shaken baby syndrome when I was in college and watched videos of survivors and I could barely seen the screen due to my tears. My daughter was coliky bad and she would not stop screaming but I got through it and I just let her cry in her crib and I went into the bathroom for a breather and i had my friend Abby help me! I also have autism too and guess what I was a success! Mary Margaret Elizabeth is her name and she turned 3 4/8/2020 this year! She has her own personality and she makes me laugh!
Im a survivor of shaken baby syndrome. I was 3 months old. My bio moms boyfriend got angry because I was crying so he picked me up and sound me around abd my head hit a wall. My mother was home and found me not breathing so she shook me. I was in the ICU for quite a long time. I am legally blind. I have no sense of smell and I have many other permanent effects including a dent in my skull where my head hit the wall. My adoptive parents had to have me in all sorts of therapies. Im 37 now and blessed that I even lived. Despite the severity of my injuries, I am alive and thriving although I had damage to my prefrontal cortex which causes me some issues. I feel for these kids. They were robbed of so much.
@@nat-nl6pk Legal blindness isn't the same as profound blindness. You can be legally blind if your eyesight is bad enough that glasses can't fix the problem, only help it. I’ve been a full time nanny for 3 small children, and currently a preschool teacher for children from 2-4. I’ve seen it all. And even when all 10 of the two year olds are screaming and crying, not listening and not being kind to their friends, no matter what - I take a step back, and have to remind myself that they are CHILDREN. They don’t have the mental capacity right now to understand what they are doing, and that’s what the adults in children’s lives are for!! To teach them how to be a great person, communicate with others and grow. I’ve always said, if a child is hitting, being mean to adults or other children, and any other crazy things kids get up to - sit them down, show them and tell them how to take deep breaths, and calm down. Once they are calm, do your best to explain to them (at a 2 y/o level) that whatever they have done has hurt someone, or is not okay. Explain that that kind of behavior will not be tolerated and teach them how to apologize, and work with them every day until they are old enough to comprehend that what they do affects others. Show them that they need to apologize to whoever they’ve hurt or said a mean thing to, and work to be better every day. The biggest lesson I’ve learned from working with children is that no matter how troubled the child (or person), if you apply yourself to teaching them how to be a good person and a good friend to others, you are making the world a better place, as well as knowing you had a hand in creating safe and positive spaces for children so they can look back on their childhood and say that they had a good one, and to know they have all the tools to go out into the world and also change it for the better with all the things they’ve learned in childhood. Childcare is my passion, and I hope anyone out there seeing this comment who also knows that childcare is their life’s purpose and what makes them happy - go for it. Work your ass off and make the world a better place. 💗

As a father of a 17 month old I was terrified I would loose my temper with my baby when she was little. Sleep deprivation, constant crying and additional pressures are a toxic combo. I understood and kept firmly in my mind that I am capable of hurting her badly with the slightest mistake. The advice is so simple - if you get to the point of breaking (and every parent does) put t m down somewhere safe and take a break. Otherwise you are sentencing your own child to death or permanent disability for the crime of crying - really think about it
I had a friend growing up who's dad shook him when he was like 6 months old. He only had the brain function of like a 1 year old. Couldn't walk or talk. His limbs didn't develop right and he was bound to an electronic wheelchair. He passed away a couple years ago. His father is a POS who just got out of jail.
My daughter's biological father shook his third child to where he's being convicted and is awaiting hearings and trial. We learned he's shaken all 3 of his kids including my oldest daughter. Now we're awaiting for his parental termination of all 3 of his kids. His youngest was 5 months old and has had 4 brain bleeds. He could end up with mental problems in the future but we're unsure. This is so sad
How did it come to light now he's shaken all three of his kids? All these years later, did the asshole finally admit to it in court-ordered counseling or something? I'll bet he did. He probably blurted out something like, "But I dealt with all those babies the same! I shook 'em all, man, and ain't none but this last one messed up in the head."
This is so incredibly heart breaking. The thought that these children were born healthy, but had their lives ruined at the hands of people who were meant to protect them.
I had AWFUL postnatal depression on my first child and unknowingly at the time I was suffering with an undiagnosed rare brain condition when ever I felt frustrated with my baby crying I'd think "ok go through the list is his nappy clean is he hungry does he have trapped wind" and if all were answers were yes I'd put him in a safe place where I knew for sure he couldn't hurt himself then I'd go outside in the garden and think about his birth, how much I loved him and and I'd stay there for 5 minutes relax then I'd go back inside cuddle him and repeat till I managed to calm him unless he's sick crying wouldn't hurt him
Postpartum depression sucks a lot I feel like hurting my baby when he cry’s but I instantly put him somewhere where he won’t get hurt and he’s safe and I instantly walk away and calm my self till Ik I’m okay to get him

@Aurora Is just things aren't adding up. Someone had to tell her that she was shaken at 3 months. So that person stayed quiet? Nothing happened to the person who did this? They were able to do it again to a week old baby? Then this person has problems with numbers but can remember vision, months, weeks, use parentheses, 20/20, comas, negatives. They are so right, YOU CAN WALK AWAY! Place the screaming/ crying kid somewhere safe like in their bed/ crib, playpen, car seat, etc and just go somewhere nearby to cry, smoke, drink coffee, stomp your feet, cuss, etc. Get it out, call someone if need be, and collect your sanity.
My brother was shaken, and I believe is in a wheel chair now. Since that happened we all were taken from our home and I got to see him with his new foster mom, and haven’t seen him since. It’s been many years. And I feel it odd to know that I have a brother out there that I don’t know. It’s crazy to me how careless “adult” actions can change a persons life.
That kid is a strong one. Knowing him in person, you can tell how bad it is for him. But, yet, he is strong. Laughs like nothing is wrong, still smiles. He doesn’t even care about the damage done to him anymore. His dad was horrible. I can’t say enough how much I am waiting for that bastard to go to jail.
I get being a parent is stressful, I’ve gotten to my breaking point before but NEVER have I ever even thought of shaking my children or hurting them. If you get frustrated just set baby down in a safe spot & walk away to catch your breath. It doesn’t make you a bad parent. Letting them cry (within reason) isn’t going to hurt them. Shaking them will make things a million times worse.
My son and I both have thrush and was making breastfeeding difficult. He wouldn’t stop latching /unlatching.. screaming and crying getting frustrated. At one point I started crying cuz i hate seeing him like that. Never once have I ever thought of shaking him. People who do that have no fucking empathy or heart
If you dont like kids, try to not have kids, be smart and safe, dont date poeple with kids its not fair to them, the kids, and even you if your not in place in your life where its a smart choice. If you have kids and cant handle being around them, hopefully the other parent or some family are better options if not i guess the system is an option. Its not always great to people by far but if i comes down to you not being sure if your going to keep the kids safe yourself and you cant handle it then i guess putting them in others care may be a fighting chance. But if your not 100% wanting kids theres no reason not to be safe and smart. Pregnancy is in most cases avoidable. Condoms, pills, not having sex. Theres options. Shit getting fixed is an option and is much safer for men than women so if a couple doesnt want kids flat out or a guy doesnt want kids thats a way to go. Women can to but its way more invasive. And im not debating or telling anyone to do it but if your in a place where its legal theres also the option of termination. Im not even saying im for it im just saying for some people that is legally an option. If you cant stand kids theres options on avoiding them. Its not fair to kids for you to be there and hurt them just because you cant handle them.
Exactly and all the idiots who try to pressure people into having the kids for the sake of it need to sit down and shut the fuck up because even thought I personally detest kids, I care enough to know their lives shouldn't be in the balance because of a whim or through carelessness.

My grandmother recently admitted to my dad that she used to repeatedly throw him onto the bed when ever he wouldn't stop crying. I'm surprised nothing like this happend to him.
that's no big deal. Parents do that when they are playing. I have known lots of people slam their baby into the bed when it is screaming for no reason....
I work in Early Intervention and I have to say that I've seen MULTIPLE cases of shaken baby syndrome and it always floors me. How could anyone do that to a child??
These parents are great.. that mom going in the hyperbaric chamber with her son and that dads patients is astounding, nobody should ever go through that
I think it’s very natural to get frustrated with your child, especially after countless sleepless nights and nonstop crying. But its important to remember when you feel yourself reaching the end of your rope that there are options and that sometimes you just need to ask for help and let others know you are not okay.
I don't understand it either. I had PPD and I sure as hell got upset sometimes but never could I have been able of hurting either one of my children. Anyone with a brain knows not to "toss" a newborn too. People just dont understand babies and have been programmed to think that once a baby is fed and changed, they should sleep and are seen as a burden if they cry. Babies require so much more and need to feel connected with Mom to feel safe and secure.
I was a shaken baby. My parents said I was a miracle baby. I was adopted and my parents now did so much for me growing up helping me get treatments and the help I needed to have a happy normal life 💕
I'm crying why would anyone do something like that? There's no excuse for child abuse. I'm so glad that these innocent people who were shaken brutally have a kind parent to keep them safe
My oldest had ADHD, SPD, & EFD. He was a tough baby, but such a good kid. I didn't know about his issues then and he had these times where he would just scream endlessly. I remember once was so bad that I had to call his grandma to come take him for a bit so I could get a small break and get myself together. It's okay to put them in their bed/in a safe place and walk away for a while. It's okay to call someone and ask for help. It is not okay to permanently damage another person's life, because you weren't adult enough to walk away and catch your breath. We all know how a screaming baby or toddler can grate on the last nerve we have.... Walk away. We as a society need to help remind parents and caregivers that it's okay to need a break, and it's okay to take one. We are only human and we all have our limits. Know your limits and what to do when you've reached them.
there’s an episode of law & order svu on this, a mother shook her baby so hard that in the end she was on life support and couldn’t feel anything except pain. even though that episode was fake it happens in real life and that is so sad.
God, I hated that episode. the mother wouldn't even own up to what she did. I was so fucking disgusted that that was a possibility in the world for innocent children. I get you can get overwhelmed, especially for parents who rely too heavily on baby sitters, and I don't do too good around children on my own for long periods of time (it's why I don't have kids, waiting a few years to practice patience), but I would have just put the girl in her room for the night with some snacks and a water bottle so she could just calm down herself (so long as shes old enough to be left alone with food, kid would have cried herself to sleep withen an hour or 2) or called the fucking sitter for advice, or anyone for advice.
Error 404 completely agree, the fact she was willing to hurt her own child just so she could have a night alone with a man shows she puts herself before her child. disgusting.
I never ever 1 time had a baby sitter watch my child , family members I can count on 1 hand his "dad" worked nights, slept days and later on did drugs so he NEVER watched our son. I was so over protected w my son and that was 21 yrs ago and thank God for that. If I had to do it all over again I would do the same....ONLY I WATCH MY CHILD ! I pray for ALL shaken babies 🙏, it hurts my heart in such a big way to watch these vids.
The first child :My heart breaking this baby boy is a miracle and so beautiful. Austin is amazing I love when he sings so sweet.. Braxton is so beautiful and Gods hands will help him heal Bless each of these children Gods good and God loves his children
Them parents are amazing knowing how much anger they must have for them people that done this to their child, but look how amazing their doing and how many things they are going to achieve in the future!
watching this makes me realize how lucky i am to just have epilepsy and a speech impediment 😭 i was shaken and thrown from our second floor apt as a toddler 🥺 was a big family cover up 😪😭
Sunflower Studio it happens! There was a 6 year old thrown off the 10th floor of the Tate museum and landed on the fifth floor roof and survived but with bones and a brain injury.
But that would mean baby didnt get revenge you did and now they can apply eye for an eyem exvept they are braindead and probaly dead by now so it'd be their relative shaking you up and...
My heart aches for those 2... my daughter is almost 2 and I couldn’t imagine someone shaking her and beating her to the point where she couldn’t walk or talk ❤️
Sometimes it's an accidental pregnancy due to inadequate protection, sometimes it's rape, sometimes it's having a baby and thinking you can do it going into it but quickly realising that children are very hard to care for. I'm not justifying abuse, I'm just saying that there's always a reason you have a baby that you can't handle.
How can you think of something so trivial as divorce? If someone hurts my child, I will hurt them. Prison barely cuts it, they need to suffer. Divorce? That's nothing
@@dorrolorro actually, prison is a good place to send people who hurt children or women because most people in prison actually have huge respect and greatly love children and women. pedos have to be put in seperate parts of a prison for this reason, they'll get beaten to death for daring to lay hands on a child in most places. the guys who walk out of prison after hurting a child have been in seperate containments from the rest of the population. you don't hear about the ones who don't walk out.
These parents and miracles of inner strength are absolutely incredible! I don't think I have ever needed to wake my boys for extra hugs and kisses at midnight... My heart is hurting for all in this situation and cheering on every milestone they reach from many many miles away!
That's cute and sweet and all, but I hope that proper precautions are taken either to never leave these two 'grown up ten year olds' alone or that her caretakers have put her on injectable birth control. Because, just 'cause they've got the mental capacity of 10 year olds doesn't mean they have the bodies and hormones of 10 year olds.
Martha Shaebanyan-Bady Yes definitely we keep a very close eye on them and never let them out of our site the boy don’t even have a phone so they can’t do or see much with out supervision
I was looking at another video on this that opened my eyes to the problems with calling this phenomenon "Shaken Baby Syndrome" 1. Shaken - Not all of the victims of this are shaken. Some are thrown, hit, amongst other things. 2. Baby - this is not exclusive to babies/infants. Toddlers are victim to this as well. 3. Syndrome - According to the video, this implies that the symptoms look the same in all cases, which is false. Some victims lose their sight, ability to walk and use their arms, some cannot digest food or use the toilet. The effects of the head trauma are going to be related to whatever areas of the brain that were injured. So, the term Abusive Head Trauma was said to be a more accurate name as it better encompasses what has been done. Yes, this is 100% preventable and 100% unacceptable.
Some people shouldn't have children our society needs to teach that it is ok not to have children, so that they dont feel pressured to have children and then lose their shit and do harm to them.
......anyone’s mental state can flip in a negative way any second. This can happen to anyone. How about providing therapy before having a child or once you find out your pregnant seek some tips. The point isn’t women feel pressured it’s more the stress of not being able to communicate with a helpless little being while it’s screaming bloody murder there’s so much to it. It’s not okay to abuse a child but like I said
Plueschbaellchen as a first time parent no one knows how they’re going to be not everyone knows their mentality or the danger they could put themselves or others in eventually. Yes it can happen to anyone. You really think if they knew they would still put that pressure on themselves?
Plueschbaellchen better education in mental health I’m pretty sure I stressed that lmfao. Learn more about your mind see if you could handle it. There are already cases where women’s mental health was on the decline, were told they shouldn’t have any more children because it could make it worse and that woman had a child and ended killing them it does help and does work. The majority would most likely not have a child and keep it from happening so that it didn’t come to something like this.
Plueschbaellchen right so education about anything that could contribute to a decline or mental health or just sex Ed could do nothing? You should look more into it whether you agree or not. Mental health is the biggest part of it all
I have 3 children. This is so scary and sad but I'm so happy that his mother is there. That the young mans father is so patient. I wish ppl could be more patient and loving.
I see him as a perfect, adorable baby boy. He thank god recovered & is getting stronger every day. These boys are so amazing. My heart just exploded when he said "I love you" to his dad at 3:25. The dad should be happy he says that. Not I see you everyday. No. He needs to recognize he's got a wonderful son who lets him know he is loved as a father.
ibrudejude what the hell 😂 I know for a fact I’m a great mom and I strive every day to be the best mom I can be cause of what I went through when I was little. I learned what it means to be a great parent. If you really think that, that’s ridiculous.
Omg this video is so hard to watch! I‘m sitting next to my one year old sleeping peacefully. I cannot imagine the pain this woman and this baby boy had to go through. Physically and mentally! God bless you guys
This brought me to tears and filled with anger and hurt. My son is 7 months old. There has been times where his mother and I have been stressed beyond belief, but I cannot even fathom the thought of ever hurting him or any other baby that way. Some people are truly evil and disgusting in this world.
These stories along with others are the reason women seriously need to be careful who they have kids with & who they decide to bring around their kids. For me, if we aren’t engaged, you’re not even saying hi to my child. I couldn’t imagine a monster being around my son hurting him without my knowledge.
It's often the biological father though. Don't get complacent. Even if you've been married 15 years he could still be a monster. The worst ones are the best at hiding it.
Isthisjustfantasy 75 thats why I said be careful who you have kids with . Get out of your selfishness of needing love & think if there are any red flags of someone being a bad parent cause that’s honestly what matters more. I’d take a cheating husband over one that beats our children, if I had to choose a lesser evil.
My sisters friend has a baby who's a survivor of shaken baby syndrome he almost didn't make it but thankfully he's doing great now and is a very happy baby and has a wondful mommy who's always there for him and the person who did it and locked up finally
There are so many times I’ve cried, gotten frustrated, sat on my bathroom floor and cried with the door locked. Not knowing what to do. But I NEVER EVER EVER thought about shaking my child. Or abusing my child. So I can’t even wrap my head around this.
Those poor kids and families 💔 i cant imagine how heartbreaking it is to watch and help your child struggle through this. I hope the abusers never get the chance to hurt another child
Feeling overwhelmed does not mean you dont love your baby.
thanks for sharing! we need to normalize taking breaks when caring for children to prevent things like this happening
@@kelseybarton people need to know that it is ok to let your baby cry for a few minutes, that won't hurt them. But an overwhelmed parent most likely will
Wish this were at the top of the comment section
Yeah, it's OK if the baby cries. It's even OK if you want to shake the baby. The important thing, the most important thing, is that you don't.
Babies feel your stress and then start to feel awkward because they know they’ve upset you...
Your breather is their breather
This breaks my heart. It’s horrible when people hurt children.
I don’t know how people can even hurt children they are so precious
Soso Sweetie because they are sick in the head 😤 it makes me sick
Soso Sweetie i absolutely hate children but i have a special place for children who are abused/hurt and would go to the ends of the earth to protect them. how dare anybody hurt a child who didnt even ask to be here? thats the most evil thing i could ever think of.
koo-core agreed. Kids aren’t my forte but people who hurt them art disgusting.
koo-core Same here. I don’t exactly like children, but I would never hurt them. No one deserves that.
My niece, who’s actually sitting right by me, was shaken as a baby by her moms boyfriend. I didn’t know my husband back then so I didn’t see the recovery and surgeries, but now at age 10 you can’t tell she ever went through that trauma. She’s truly blessed.
Oh my. I am so glad that she is fine today! Truly a blessing!
Caspar 618 yes she is because some children die years later after suffering slowly with severe brain trauma. I’m so happy for your family that she’s okay. She’s a fighter, truly. ♥️
very much so! Happy for her recovery
Thank you everyone- I’ll share your positive thoughts with her when I see her Monday!
yay! so glad she’s doing okay now :)
Thank you❤
This a hundred times 👏👏
Its much better to leave the room for a second than take your frustration out on a baby. I'm not a parent but babies crying in public can erk me, I could never understand the stress of being stuck in the same house with one.
It's far better than harming your child. Not even a real parent and that's obvious
I'm not a parent but 100% this. Way better to leave them in a safe place and take a breath and calm down then go back once you're no longer a potential danger.
Crying, can’t believe someone could do something like that
Unfortunately, it is WAY more common than we think. That's why they have to include "don´t shake your baby" one thousand times in the hospital brochures.
That´s why we have to normalize to just place the baby in a safe space and walk away.
Crying
If you watch Steve Wilkos you'll see a lot of shaken baby stories.
Shaken baby syndrome usually occurs when a parent or caregiver severely shakes a child in frustration or anger, often because the child won't stop crying. Permanent brain damage or death may result.
Symptoms include irritability, difficulty staying awake, seizures, abnormal breathing, poor eating, bruises, and vomiting
Treatment will vary depending on complications related to shaken baby syndrome. In rare instances, breathing support or surgery may be needed to stop bleeding in the brain. It’s sad how someone can do this type of shit to baby
Unknown Girl thankyou, if I ever become a parent, I’ll remember this
@@__yam1502 also remeber that's its totally OK to be frustrated and totally OK to put your child in a safe spot like their crib and leave to calm down it doesn't make you a bad parent.
Hannah Marion-Doyle lmao that would be smart but I didn’t think of that I typed it word for word but since u know it all keep talking lil pal.
Wow I never knew
I'm still convinced that people should go through testing before they are allowed to have children, half of them would fail, I'm sure
Thats impossible in a free country, but I share your same opinion.
i’d agree, but the problem is most government’s first action would be to ban certain minorities from having kids, like how in many places gay couples can’t adopt kids :/
It makes me really uncomfortable when I see kids with bad parents. It's sad that literally anyone can have kids
Absolutely
This would probably be impossible, but it would be amazing and a great way to give kids a better life.
NOT. JUSTIFYING. ABUSE.

Key word being *parent*.
People who would do this to their babies don't have the right to use that title.
Only a narrow minded person/someone who never had a baby would judge and say these people shouldn't have children🙄

@Rose Whiting I'm pretty sure that is what OP meant lol
Tay Zerr good lord. People get more jail time than that for selling weed. The justice system is pathetic. I’m glad she’s okay but seeing things like this and feeling like they didn’t get justice makes me so upset.
@Rose Whiting we shouldnt have to rely on inmates to do our justice system's job. And thats if the rotten bastards go to jail.
That dad is so amazing wow
The mom too
@LEN!N ? Why?
Yes all parents are amazing! So tired of seeing dads be praised more than mothers because apparently people expect less from them

That's terrible. How could the parents think it's funny?!
Should’ve reported it
Did you report them?
Oh phew
Exactly this. It is much better to put the baby down in a safe place for 5-15 minutes than it is to lose your composure with a baby.
WHY did I watch this? Sitting here rocking my 7 week old baby and now I’m bawling.
❤️
Congrats on the baby!!!
Caroline Norton - aw thank you
Congrats on your little one!
These comments were really important x
Yes we had several of these and they are HORRIBLE! very stressful situations but we NEVER hurt our babies.
Yes! That 5-15 minutes alone won’t traumatize them, but if a parent snaps and yell, scream, hit, bite, pinch or shakes baby that most certainly will.
Carly Crays good on for you being so honest and matter of fact about it. That’s how we should discuss these things and I’m sure it would happen less.
YES, A HATE CRIME IS EXACTLY WHAT IT IS
What do you mean EVEN mothers? Women also hurt children, not just men.
@@atomichares Exactly. EVEN mothers is inclusive.
Im a dad of 5 children and i never saw the shaking baby video required for moms. I want to see it and dads should be required too
considering it’s men who are more likely to do this judging from statistics, they definitely fucking should
june bug Yes, but it shouldn’t be just men who are singled out, even if it’s 1 woman for 1,000 men who abuse, ALL parents should have to watch it, at the very least so everyone understands it’s ok to leave a crying baby in a safe crib and step outside for a few minutes to cool down before doing something so vicious to a defenseless baby, toddler, child.
I agree both moms and dads should see it!
@@nat-nl6pk Legal blindness isn't the same as profound blindness. You can be legally blind if your eyesight is bad enough that glasses can't fix the problem, only help it. Besides, there are adaptive technologies that exist even within modern devices that allow blind people to navigate the Internet and yes, type online. My former roommate was completely blind, and she has no issue even running a successful Instagram page. UA-camrs like Molly Burke, Cayla With a C, and the Tommy Edison Experience are all blind and have multiple videos on how they navigate technology.
You're such an amazing person! Thank you for being so awesome :))

I don’t like babies. I find them annoying and I don’t really see how they are cute. But, I would NEVER do something like that. That is horrible. Some people Istg.
Bro you coulda just said you don’t like babies 😂
I completely agree. Not a fan of babies, but doing this to an innocent child is disgusting, no matter what.
@@avag1334 it's like normally you wouldn't mess or bond with babies either bc they freak you out, make you uncomfortable, or nervous or something anything ; although you may feel those feelings you know in your heart you wouldn't be cruel to the baby/ child. You would distance yourself from them but if they need you at the moment you would care for them or get some assistance for them. Confusing I know. It still blows my mind how someone can shake a baby...and when the mom said if her son wanted to go to heaven he can, i was bawling 😭😭😭

My brother is missing a third of his brain and has graduated college and has two beautiful healthy baby girls! Children are amazing they just need someone to be there for them! Good luck I wish the best for your kiddos! Sending love!
If anyone who gets frustrated reads this; do not shake your baby. Put them in a safe place and leave. If you think you can’t handle your child, do not force yourself to.
Do not harm your child. Leave it be. It’s not wrong to set your baby down and leave, because every parent needs to relieve stress at times. Call for help.
If ppl weren’t so judgmental with parents I’m sure many would .. this is why they keep quiet .. they don’t want to be failures .. sadly this is there outcome 😞

mothman the mothman same with you :) I’m a mom myself and luckily my child is very relaxed (hes8) but I’ve seen moms who need help even if you ask they’ll say no because they don’t want to be a “ bad parent “ especially with let’s say Facebook , it so completely fake that they don’t want people to think there not want they try to portray .. I dunno 🤷🏼♀️ messed up world we live in , people are disgusting to one another !
Do not have children if you cant take care of them in the first place

My little brother is a survivor, he almost died and was in a coma for 2 weeks. My mom prayed to God for him to survive. My dad did it on purpose and didn’t get any punishment for it, all though it was hard for my little brother to grow up he is 21 years old today and is evolving so good, he can’t walk like everyone else but he is making so much progress and we all thought he wouldn’t so I’m unbelievably proud of him and who he is ❤️
As a father of a 17 month old I was terrified I would loose my temper with my baby when she was little.

Something about this doesn't sit right and I don't say that lightly. Every case is different, maybe I'm speaking out of line, but I can't help to feel this doubt in the story.

I think it’s very natural to get frustrated with your child, especially after countless sleepless nights and nonstop crying. But its important to remember when you feel yourself reaching the end of your rope that there are options and that sometimes you just need to ask for help and let others know you are not okay.

How hard do you have a have to shake a baby for this to happen? I just don’t get why people hurt babies
Sometimes ppl don't even mean any harm... just gently tossing a baby into the air can produce SBS
@Kelly Gesink Are you a doctor?
@@alessandrac1940 no it can't you have to SHAKE A BABY. You have to shake them so hard that they just stop crying period.

That’s where I first heard of this syndrome
Error 404 completely agree, the fact she was willing to hurt her own child just so she could have a night alone with a man shows she puts herself before her child. disgusting.

I was looking at another video on this that opened my eyes to the problems with calling this phenomenon "Shaken Baby Syndrome"

Mental health is the biggest part of it all

im another one that was a lucky one. i was shook as a baby as well. and suffered mild brain damage. no thanks to my father.
Sorry to hear! :(
He has better memory than me and I have depression...
I had depression for my daughters first 8 months of life and can’t remember any memories of her being tiny 🙈
