@@Ray_Shabaz "it shows that they're not going to do or say anything to him"
Bruh, it's clearly mentioned that they supervised him at home and then took him to the hospital after the kid himself told them that it was getting worse. The kid knew he had a problem and confided in his parents because he knew that they would try to understand his disorder. The parents acted immediately and sought professional help.
If you go to beat your child or severely scold him, there's a high chance that your child will not confide in you anymore. They'll just go ahead with whatever they're doing without you knowing.

When doing horrible stuff a person ussualy dissociates that part of brain while the rest can function normaly. You can have a determination and will to do something horrible but the good part of your brain that keeps you in check throws obstacles in your way. Think about brain like a democratic system of neurons that each gives a vote before making a decision as a whole brain. There are no 100% bad people. Its always a "bad" part of the brain that hijacks the rest. Therapist ussualy want to make the good part of the brain take control over the bad part in problematic individuals. So in a way everyone is redeemable in terms of brain function, in the eyes of society tho...not so much. Money is also a big issue on top of that

The way they immediately acted to try and keep both him and their other children (and other children that weren't their own) safe and sound are incredibly mature and sadly rare in these instances. The fact that they didn't just ignore it or coddle the behavior was incredible good and Im glad the boy felt trustful enough in telling them about his intrusive thoughts and his paraphilic and sociopathic impulses.

♡ Some people use Dr. Phil because they have tried everything within their resources. As you can see in this video their child has been recieving psychiatric treatment and is living in a facility. The parents are unhappy with his situation but it is the best they can do with the resources that they have. I think in part they are attempting to spread awareness and reduce the stigma, so other parents who are suffering with similar situations can feel less lonely and have some guidance. However they are also seeking for a better solution and hoping, perhaps naively, that Dr. Phil can provide them with more resources or answer. As you can see, they are good parents, and this is a particularly shameful topic, so you can imagine they must have been particularly desperate to ask for help on TV.

At such a young age you can become obsessed with sexual ideation when the body is surging with hormones. If this child was left to his own on the internet this could become worse. Once the child becomes used to getting satisfaction from daydreaming about these ideas it would be really difficult to break this thought pattern which provides pleasure but it all started with obsessive thoughts.

By going on Dr. Phil and making it extremely easy for people to discern his identity? The kid is the one I commend. He's having these thoughts and urges that he knows are wrong, and it took a lot of humility and courage for him to tell someone. It really amazes me that the parents didn't put him in treatment immediately. He had to tell them he was going to act on those urges unless they got him help right then. I don't like the fact that they went on Dr. Phil. People can figure out who he is, especially in their hometown. Now, even if he never acts on those urges, he's going to be treated like a criminal.

OliveBranch it very much sounds as though his issues developed quickly and became extreme. In my opinion, he must’ve either cared somewhat at the Beginning, or respected his parents enough to actually communicate so much. He even told them he was definitely going to act out on his siblings if they didn’t do something immediately. I understand what you are saying, but.. if he could have very easily Not told his parents anything, and went on to hurt one of his siblings.. does that not count for anything?
