london being my first ever marathon feels SO surreal 🙈 i'm excited, a bit deflated because i'll be running on a slight injury, and now starting to feel the nerves . . . but it's definitely going to be one of the best days of my life 🤩🏃🏻♀️ good luck everyone running this year ✨
In the same boat first marathon soo excited but also have had injuries ,feel nervous already ,its a victory lap not a race ,best of luck to you and everyone else doing your all legends
I am not running London but the OKC RuntoRemember tomorrow. It's my first live Marathon and I am feeling so many doubts and nerves right now. Thank you for this video to remind me that this should be fun. After running a virtual marathon last year I am counting on the energy of the crowds to keep me going. Just hoping to finish this year. But I love how Rick reminded me that all the finishers get a medal, no matter the time.
Going to be my first marathon and been buzzing for it all week. Just the idea of running past the Cutty Sark, across Tower Bridge and the run down the Mall is keeping me motivated! Though the biggest motivation has to be the post-race pint!!
I always go out too fast in marathons and half marathons. Now my race plan includes "run the first 2km too fast, then fall back into a slower steady pacs" I've found it doesn't really hurt to start too fast, just don't try to hang on to it.
My London Marathon Best Tip: Make sure your name is printed BIG on the front of your shirt. People you've never met will be shouting your name all the way. I had a planned distraction technique which was to count the number of times someone shouted my name as I went along. By mile 2 I'd lost count.....
Can’t believe I’ve done it…virtually.Started 2am,walked first 13.1 due to slight injury then opened it up.I am so chuffed with myself to be honest, took 60 years though lol.Just gotta say quickly the marathon app was brilliant, listening to Paula Radcliffe etc reall kept me going
This will be my first official marathon, but I ran the virtual last year and my biggest tip from that is to pack a spare pair of socks if you have a backpack. It was raining last night and changing to dry socks at the 20mile point really helped me keep motivated
This is a bucket list marathon for me, both of my fall marathons now virtual as we are back in a state of emergency. A nice slow long run to be able to dream and visualize running London marathon someday!
Less than 2 weeks till I run my first London Marathon (2022) and I'm nervous - last minute niggles and worries about the loo situation!! Hopefully it'll all work out on the day!!
This video is very good on information and good to know 😀 . I will be running the Manchester marathon next year and hope to do the London one the year after 😀
I'm sitting in my hotel room with the window open listening to the sounds of London - the rain, car horns, the emergency vehicles... The bag-drop/expo was as well organised as it could possibly be for a Saturday. The queue was thousands strong - moved pretty quickly: I suppose it was only 30 minutes to drop bag off, then another 10-15 to pick up bib. The 'bring a negative covid test. SMS or email is - to be frank - risible. I'm sure if ones test came back positive one would report it as such and not attend... "it's OK, I've only been training for 6 months and I'll just give back all the money I collected for XYZ god cause" I would (very briefly) struggle with my conscience... and win 🤠
This was my 6th one and everyone I hate going to Canary Wharf, must be. a mental thing, I was struggle when I get here, but I would never run it without the crowd. :)
Hello Running Channel, I watch most of your videos. I have a little question for you. What would happen if some day you are unable to train? Either because of your work, or some issues related to your family, friends, or whatever. Do you try to compensate, and do those duties the next day? Do you just skip 1 day from your training sessions? Thanks for the information!
Regarding the start pace. Start at the pace you think you will finish at. Only the elite and very experienced have the ability to finish quicker than they started.
In the tower bridge and beyond section ye mention trying some mantra to keep you going. Have you any suggested/recommended mantras as I’ve hit difficult periods in the past when running and had to walk? Or any tips in general to prepare yourself mentally for a race.
I'm a manta girl- I actually bring a big poster board covered in mantras to my ultras. 😆 The ones that have truly kept me going are: Forward is a pace; Pain doesn't matter, do it anyway; Just keep swimming; This is what you came for; It's always too early to quit; No regrets. I have a ton more, because you'll never know what mood you'll be in, how you'll feel, and what will best motivate you. I read them all before the start, and my mind settles on 1 or 2 when things get tough. Good luck!!
@@Kelly_Ben thank you for these, can’t wait to use them 😀. Very useful. Especially like the “forward is a pace” mantra. Thank you again and best of luck with the ultras 😀👍🏻
Okay I will run my first marathon outside US, does London have corrals and since I have to go there with tour agency do I have to start later or on the back?

That music at the Expo got the heart pumping
Top tip. Take advantage of the wc facilities at the start and your own tissues
You guys should do a race side live stream :)
That would be fun!
Good luck everyone, a true inspiration to us all.

Not sure it is an ultimate tip:keep putting one foot in front of the other, until you cross the line!
The best tip you can give a runner!
There is a merge at the beginning??!! This is crazy!! Great insight! :)
It's good knowledge to have, isn't it! Thanks for watching Jorge 😊
Going for the Melbourne half marathon hopefully if we are out of lockdown by then
Running my first London this spring! Is it easy getting to the start line? Is it better to stay closer to the start or the finish?
Good luck to all the participants

Just entered the ballot for next year, wish me luck

Rick! We need another Rick-covery video. The people demand to know your progress.
And yes. My last 5k I started out way to fast
New RIck-overy episode is on it's way. Hold tight!
@@runningchannel Thank you! Also, when I say "the people, " I mean me...and me...and, just me.
Can I please ask , are the distance signs during the course in km or miles ?
Miles
Just want to get it done ✅.
Good luck Zubeda!
Where is the best place to stay for a runner doing the marathon
Did Rick really say that “it’s not far to go” at the 20 mile mark .😱🤣
It's all subjective, isn't it...!
Canary Wharf is a great place nowadays. Always full and noisy.
Agreed, Simon!
I love to London marathon 💖I like to participate 🇱🇰🤝
Good
They are thinking "oh shi*" what have I done.
London sounds a bit like Boston, downhill at the start, big downhill between mile 21 and 23.
👍👍
Still nothing about Anna's Berlin marathon?
There is now! The final episode is here: ua-cam.com/video/czgoDyNnGnE/v-deo.html
