    All the Best Ben, 🙏
Thank you for all your no bull videos, which have spurred me on to take up running for the first time since my teens. Now 48 and a heart attack 3 years ago.
I completed my first race today 16th April 2023.
    Merseyside Tunnel 10k.
Was very nervous days out, but as soon as I was on the line the nerves were gone.
Can't remember much of the race but it felt good.
    My A plan 50 min.
    B plan 55 min.
    C plan under the hour.
    Came in at 55.48
My pace setting was spot on.
Just wanted to say thank you.
And I have purchased your 10k l3 improver plan for my next race in June.
    Thank you ❤

Dave Obelkevich from NYC is 79 years old and in 2022 completed his 46th New York City Marathon -- more NYC Marathons than anyone else in history. Connie Brown from Florida is also 79 years old, and in 2022 she completed her 43rd NYC Marathon. Those can be our role models, "Loopydragon." Whichever gender you are, one of these people can be your inspiration! Dave is a retired music teacher and concert violinist, which I think is a cool career.

Just wanted to say thanks Ben. I used your intermediate marathon plan L3 for London. Being my first marathon I wasn’t sure what to target but settled on 3:40-3:45 and finished 3:42. Super happy if not a little disappointed that I dropped the 2 min pace advantage I had built up (on the final 8km). Never mind!

My tips: don't push too much until the last 5k. After, don't collapse and not move, keep the legs moving a bit, and spin your legs on a bike the next day in an easy gear to flush out the lactate acid. Good luck everyone - I'm running Rotterdam on Sunday 👍

    • @cathynewyork7918
      @cathynewyork7918 Рік тому +1

Gentle swimming the day after a marathon is also good, to get the blood to wash out the lactic acid from your legs, but your advice here is excellent also -- especially about not collapsing after the race. Keep moving. Remember that they always "hot walk" race horses after a hard race -- "hot walking" yourself after a race is just as important.

No. You're tracked by your timing chip attached to your shoe.
The tracking map will show an estimate of where you are, but only actually updates accurately once you cross timing mats. I believe these are every 5k.
If you slow down a lot (hopefully you don't) make your family aware it could show you at a timing section on the map, but in reality you might not have got there. This panics a lot of people as they can't find friends and they don't know where they are. Tell them it'll update again once you crossthe next mat.
      Good luck and enjoy.
