    I am Tom Saguto, PGA Member and founder of SagutoGolf. Thank you for visiting my instructional page where you can find how to get on the fast track to improving your golfing abilities. Whether you are a seasoned golfing veteran looking for a quick swing tune-up after an on-course emergency, or a beginner just looking to get the most out of your golfing experience, I am here to help you achieve your golfing goals.
    My mission as your swing doctor is simple, to help you maximize your enjoyment in game of golf. Because, let’s face it, golf is a hard game.
    My philosophy is wholly based on the student having a fun, meaningful experience in a frustrating and complicated game where potential lifelong golfers either quit because it is too difficult or that they experience some form of swing-related pain or discomfort. I mitigate these problems by focusing entirely on the student’s needs and goals while teaching a golf swing method that ultimately takes stress off of the common pain areas of the swing.

      Is it me or is your golf grip huge? Are you using oversized grips like Moe Norman and Bryson DeChambeau. Is that part of your teaching philosophy? I still have traditional size grips. Thanks

    Hit a bucket today off the mat to get this feeling, dropped ten balls in the fairway at the 150 stake and 9 of the ten hit the green with an 8 iron. One flew a little over, this was unthinkable 24 hrs ago. I’ve been playing 150 rounds a year for 20 years and have never felt so good about my strikes. I hope this carries over to the woods and driver. THANK YOU Tom!!!!!!!

      What's with those grips?

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  Рік тому +12

      @John Miett - I’m using JumboMax Ultralite grips in extra-large. I wanted to give them a try for a few reasons, including the fact that DeChambeau uses them and we share similar swing philosophies. Since then, I haven't looked back. I personally love the feel as well as how they help to keep my hands quiet through the zone. Beyond that - and as they relate to grip pressure - the Jumbos are large enough that my fingertips don't wrap all the way around and press into my hands, which is a definite trigger of forearm tension for me in smaller grips.
      Having properly sized grips is critically important as they are our only connection to the object that is going to deliver us blissful joy or deep anguish, yet it is perhaps also the most overlooked equipment fitting component in golf.

    This is actually crazy! I have been working on my swing for over a year (granted I don’t play often). The techniques you are teaching have made the golf swing so much easier to repeat. We are all searching for “consistency” in our golf swing, but all the different variables we introduce make it almost impossible to be consistent. Shift weight to back leg, bring arms up, shift weight back to front leg, shallow the club, etc. etc. etc. How the heck do we do that exactly the same way every time, and in a period of one second. My strikes are so much better than they have ever been. I’m no longer doing big 20-30 yard draws with my irons and no longer hitting outside in with my driver. My irons a small controllable draw and I’m hitting draws with my driver. I seriously can’t believe that my miss with the driver is now to the left instead of a big slicing miss to the right.
    Thanks for all your videos Tom. They are educational and the humour makes watching them fun. I signed up for your program and started from the beginning to basically relearn how to golf. Keep them coming.

    This advice is terrific. I’m 67 and playing golf for a long time using traditional methods. The results after using your advice have been dramatically better. I find that the challenge is to use this new method throughout the entire round. Having done the traditional stuff for so long, it tends to leak back into the swing unless I stay laser focussed on the weight forward stuff. I’m going to use more range time to make this my “new normal”. I suspect it will take some time but hope the results will be worth the effort now that we are starting spring time in the northeast. Thanks for your clear and concise explanations and keep them coming.

      Hi Richard,
      Thanks for your kind words regarding my instruction. I'm thrilled for your dramatic improvement!!
      Those "ghosts of swings past" are stubborn and definitely don't give up without a fight. They're always looking for an opportunity to sneak back in and haunt us, and oftentimes that happens mid-round when we're playing well and perhaps thinking "now I've got this". We then let our guard down, get a little loose with one element, and then seemingly out of nowhere those demons pour back in and derail our game.
      Are you the same Richard Potapchuk who was enrolled in the online school? If so, there's plenty of content in there that will help you to become a ghostbuster and really lock down your swing. Also, have you joined the SagutoGolf Members Forum (which is included with the online school) yet and begun engaging with other golfers in the school? If you've not already done so it only takes a minute or two to enroll - just go to your “My Courses” screen and you’ll see a link to get started. Once signed in you’ll be able to access in this fun and tremendously supportive community and participate in the ongoing great dialogue on a variety of swing- and game-related topics. You can start discussions, contribute to existing threads, post accomplishments and specific swing questions, make some new friends, and just share in the common bond and banter of golfers from around the world seeking to improve their games and help others to do the same. I monitor the forum and participate as well. I really think you will enjoy it!!

      Putting is the "great equalizer" and it can be mastered by anyone of any skill level who wishes to put in the effort. However, it tends to be about the last thing most of us want to practice because, well, where's the fun in that?.... 😎
      Now that you're striping it, maybe you can put in some time each session to help cure the ball of its fear?
      Anyway, thanks so much for your support in sharing your progress and keep up the great work!!

    I was hitting a 7 iron maybe 125 yds with my old swing (poor contact) now with the stack and tilt Im carrying my 7 iron 155. Its unbelievable how easy golf started to be for me. Every club gained 25 to 30 yds with this technique and Im at an 8 handicap down from 23 in less than a year. Keep it up Tom its made me a much more consistent ball striker. Love it!

    I've been struggling as of late to hit the ball consistently. This makes so much sense to me. I will definitely work this into my game. The past year was one of the worst for me. I went from a 7 handicap to over 12. Just wasn't fun at all. I needed something simple to understand what I was doing wrong. Swaying off the ball is the issue as well as lifting the club. I'm getting back to work on this technique today. Will update you soon . Thanks again for the tip.

      Hi Rodney
      How interesting and sad it is that with all the advances in equipment, technology, golf course grooming, etc. the average golfer still struggles to break 100. Epic failures within the realm of “conventional” instruction, perhaps??? Now, you're certainly not in that boat, but still so many misconstrued and/or misguided teachings - such as taking the club straight back, turning the shoulders level while independently lifting the arms, shifting into and torquing against a firm trail side, actively rolling the hands through impact, etc. - have relegated generations of golfers to the vast abyss of inconsistency and chronic frustration (and chronic back/knee/hip pain as well). I’m doing my best here to clear these up one by one and put an end to this madness….

    I've just come back from the range having watched this and your other videos, I hit 100 balls across the bag, stack and tilt works! You really feel the tilt and it turns you fully, with your weight forward "against the wall" stopping you from staying back and hitting off the right foot the number of fats or thins falls of a cliff, you've given me the best golfing advice of my life.

      That's *awesome!!* 💪💪
      This body-friendly, powerful, consistent, low-maintenance Stack and Tilt swing system is designed to provide a lifetime of great ball striking, and since it is rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology it does not discriminate by age or ability - from kids to seniors and everything in between, and inclusive of the best players in the world. I give all credit where it is due - including Andy Plummer and Mike Bennett for analyzing and interpreting the science, and to those who preceded them with their empirical observations of the game's best ball strikers and all their subsequent chalkboard number-crunching. I just do my best to take what they have built and convey it in my own simplified teaching style.

    I hadn’t played this year and returned after an 8 week break. I’m off 14, I can hit but I’m inconsistent. Ive been using this method since late last year. I played medal and had 81 off the stick with a triple and two doubles when I let my swing get loose. I had 83 last weekend because I forgot how to putt, easy should have been 78. I’m breaking 80 for the first time this year and I know it. Thank you Tom.

      Fantastic!! 💪💪 I'm very glad to know that my instruction is resonating with you; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and putting it into play!!
      By the way, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built.
      Have you looked into the comprehensive, sequential learning platform of the online school yet? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result, and I'm happy to let their unsolicited testimonials tell the story: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. At just $14.99/month or $149.99 per year the value in terms of what you get for that price point is beyond comprehension, and based on proven results it represents by far the best golf instruction deal on the planet.
      And if you'd like to first "dip a toe in the water" prior to diving into the school, then here is a link to my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ That is where you can learn some key aspects of the swing system I teach in a more structured manner.
      As you are now aware based on your initial results, one does not need the flexibility of a Romanian gymnast - or even of this far less pliable golf instructor - to execute this swing, experience great ball striking, and reclaim - or even exceed - yardages from years past. I hope you'll give the school some thought and take your learning - and your game - to a new level!
      Thanks for sharing your improvement and keep up the great work!

    Been playing for a few years and had hit a wall. Struggling to break 100, chunking irons and when I made good contact, it went 100 feet in the air with below average distance (9i average of only 125-130 yds). Watched your short from this video about getting the hands lower and keeping the weight forward, went out back to practice a bit, and immediately started striping my irons. The way I see it, we can either simply put the already existing natural laws to work and thereby build a powerful, body-friendly, repeatable, low-maintenance motion, or we can twist, morph, torque, contrive, and otherwise mess with the principles of physics and geometry in an effort to better suit some ill-conceived whims, all the while recognizing that at the point of impact those pre-existing laws are going to be the only things that matter to the ball!

    I’ve had a terrible slice that I couldn’t figure out. back swing was high, and I was chopping at it over the top.
    but having the weight forward, and swinging the hands in helped me consistently hit the ball straight and far. I’m hitting ball first, divot after. finally making great contract and going through the ball.

    I had a medical problem a while back and stopped playing golf. I had been playing for about 30 years. Had a bunch of rounds in the high 70s but mostly low to mid 80s. When I started feeling better I began to hit little chip shots about 5 feet from the carpet in my living room to a couch. I was amazed at how inconsistent I was. Fat, thin, toe, heel. I accidentally started doing what you teach in this video just from hitting thousands of chip shots and looking for something that worked. For the first time in my life I was consistently hitting those little chips in the sweet spot. Staying forward. This was really the first time in my life that I felt like I was hitting a real golf shot even though they were just chips. They fly differently, they sound differently. This is a great video. Coincidences are amazing. What is the chance I accidentally starting hitting shots like this and then see your video about the same time. Incredible. Thanks, Tom.

    Tom, this video has blown me away. I’d lost complete interest in golf having played previously for years. I had become so inconsistent as I hit 50 yo mostly with a massive ugly pull hook. I was 8 handicap when I was 18. I just gave up for 5 years as the enjoyment had gone. recently I had a go on the driving range to see if anything had changed. No. Took to UA-cam and found this. Your vid from 00.45 until 3.30 was a revelation. Went back to the range - kept hands low avoiding the electric stick - weight on the front foot. I’ve been laughing ever since repeating “oh Tom” to myself. Absolute transformation. Even the driver - smashing them easily down the middle. Incredible !

    I haven't played golf in 2 years because of heart issues. I started back playing 18 holes 5 weeks ago. Each week my game got continually worse. I was so frustrated with myself. After watching your video I now realize I am been doing exactly what you described many golfers do that makes for a back swing. My backswing was all wrong. My hands were way out in front. I have done the weight forward shift on wedge shots which works. I can't wait to try this in my living room tomorrow. A couple weeks ago I was trying the figure 8 move and my wife, whose father was a scratch golfer, asked me what I was doing. She is on no way a golfer but she said that doesn't look like a golf swing. It not only looked weird but felt weird. Your video suggestion just makes sense. It is a swing that old timers like myself can do. Most importantly I understand exactly what you want golfers to do. Thanks!

      HI David,

      Thanks for your kind words regarding my channel's instruction content. You may be interested to know that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built.
      Have you looked into the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of the online school yet? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step from setup to finish. I give all credit where it is due - to Andy Plummer and Mike Bennett for analyzing and interpreting the science, and to those who preceded them with their empirical observations of the game's best ball strikers and all their subsequent chalkboard number-crunching . I just do my best to take what they have built and convey it in my own simplified teaching style, and I'm very glad to know that it is resonating well with you.

    Awsome video. I also watched numerous videos by golf pros. I felt like an airplane pilot prior to "take off", slow down my swing, keep my head still, don't sway, etc.. After watching these videos I would go to the golf range to practice what I had learned. I would hit numerous golf balls and then "wam"; slice, worm burners, fat shots, etc.. Omg, oops, I forgot to shift my weight, didn't rotate my forearms or shoulders, swayed, etc. I soon became brain dead and had many sleepness nights, getting up early a.m. to jot down a golf note, forgetting something what not do or do in my golf swing. Anyway, you got me excited to try out your video instructions of the "stack and tilt" approach and hopefully I can hit my golf balls as crisp you have in your video. Again, awsome video and instructions!

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  Рік тому

      Thanks again, Mike!!
      The golf swing is indeed overly complicated in particular by one part of the human body - the brain and all the swing nonsense and misguided instruction it has been fed. Garbage in, garbage out; and countless golf swings have sadly been trashed as a result. This is not saying that golf is "easy" as it most certainly is anything but. However, the perceived and overstated complexities of the swing itself can be greatly simplified to convey motions that are body-friendly and physiologically sound, and which simultaneously and effectively harness physics and geometry to produce a most satisfying and long-lasting experience. (Wow - I was on a roll there. Almost sounded like a college professor....😎) Anyway.....that's what my instruction style is rooted in, and I'm very glad to know that it is resonating well with you!
      I hope you'll give some thought to the online school as I've mentioned to you previously. That will greatly help you in taking your brain out of the equation and putting things on autopilot.

    I have been following Tom for a few years now. I am/was the best chopper and flipper you have ever seen playing to a 7-8 handicap. I was playing with my self taught method for 30 years. All bad habits and maybe breaking 80 6-times per season. Not good enough. Right now, I am breaking 80 every 4-6 rounds. Not optimal. However, I can really feel confident that I am not going to hook the ball into the woods left anymore. My chopping is not completely gone. Shows up under pressure. My shots are "crispier" and more consistent. I really feel that "23" is the year I leave the 80's behind with my Duran Duran albums. Tom's method works and when you screw up, watch the video's again. It takes a while to get rid of old habits. Hello 70's! thanks Tom.

    I'm 29 years old and just recently started golfing. Total newbie. I'd been to a range 5 times and Top Golf a few times as well. I have power, but could never find any sort of consistency or rhythm with my shots. Slicing, hooking, thinning, missing the ball entirely; it was beyond frustrating. I was considering taking lessons, but figured I'd start with some instructional videos first. I found this video last night and was so stoked to try it out, I hit the range right at 6AM this morning... And let me tell you, it was a NIGHT and DAY difference. Hit a large bucket of balls in 75 minutes and I must've had a 95% contact rate. Not only that, but my shots were straight and crisp. The ball was going right where I wanted it to. It wasn't an absolutely perfect day and I have a ton of practice left to go, but I will say that this lesson saved my interest in golf 100%.

Lo and behold, the pro strips my swing to nothing and gives me very much the same advice you give in this video. I'm stacking that weight now and consistency has greatly improved. You are spot on with your comment on where it "feels" like your hands are as opposed to where they really are. I have made that swing and had a really good golfer watch me. I asked him how it looked and he said it looked just fine. Then he said, "Why do you care what it looks like when you see the ball screaming out as far and as straight as it's going?" Remember, if a change doesn't feel weird when you first try it, then you haven't made a change. You have to make weird your new normal if weird is working.

      @SagutoGolf  Рік тому +1
