The takara designer's name who worked on designing jhiaxus is Yuya Onishi. He's my fav designer because he has helped work on so many amazing figures that he is the gold standard for me. Here's a list of figures he's worked on: Siege Optimus, Titans Return Kup, Siege starscream, kingdom airazor, earthrise Optimus, ss38 bumblebee movie Optimus, SS57 Offroad Bumblebee, SS86 hot rod, Kingdom rodimus and Legacy bulkhead. His latest design will be Legacy Tarn...so yeah that Tarn figure is promising to be absolutely amazing given who worked on it.
@@PerspectiveEnd my first transformer was the fall of cybertron deluxe class optimus prime It went missing years ago and I'm still Looking for it on ebay and Amazon but the Amazon one is $200
Hasbro actually wanted to make Elite-1's alt-mode more like Minivera, but Takara interestingly was the one to insist that it be changed to the more "dune bugy" look.
That probably explains why earthspark elita also turns into a buggy. At least that version of her was still able to channel more Swol-ita into her design.
Shockwave having a little "battle-mode" and the fact that the combiners can hold him like a gun has tipped me over into wanting it. I might even army build it with a Siege Shockwave as a reference to Cyberverse. Tiny Shockwave Army Supremacy!
@@PerspectiveEnd this is actually a little headcanon of mine regarding Shockwave. He builds an army of duplicates of himself not just for the sake of an advantage in combat, he has other uses for them, like assisting him in the lab, grabbing tools, serving as test subjects, and even as backup bodies for him should the body he's currently in get destroyed.
Tarantulas is one of the best deluxes we’ve gotten from the main line in a while. He’s definitely up there on my list with Blackarachnia, Spinister/Rotorstorm, and Really any version of the Sideswipe mold (preferably earth mode)
Really? I actually find the Earthmode Sideswipe to be the lesser version, if only for the gap in his stomach where the hood meats his gut, and the lower rang on his knees.
I will say that even though Motormaster has a limited transformation into truck mode, the transformation into combine mode makes up for it. It's unique and interesting, really feeling like it becomes the core of menasor unlike third-party combiners where all he does is transforming a cube that plugs in the back. It does take an interesting approach to the combination process
Honestly legacy overall has been super impressive for me. The only real stinkers in the line are wildrider, blitzwing, and core hot rod. Everything else has ranged from ok to outstanding, mostly just being outstanding. I can't wait to pick up tarantulas, he looks so darn good!!
It has yes. I'd say it's not been AS consistent as Siege, but I'd say that it's highs are just as high, and it's general baseline is a bit higher. Though it's few lows have been a LOT lower too.
As someone who does have the cw Shockwave, his legs are mostly made out clear plastic and so are his hands. However, besides a small tab, nothing has broken on my copy. He is a pretty good legends figures. Also, yesterday I picked up buzzworthy Terrorsaur, and the colors really save the figure for me. I do hate how there is just a robot underneath him in beast mod, but I still love him. Can't what to get Tarantulas.
6:08, well technically you, are as a retool is when they take an existing figure and then retool it, I.e. Legacy Wildrider, into legacy breakdown, or Ss Jazz into Legacy Knockout, this is more an example of shared engineering, where some of the figures functionality is based on an existing figure without sharing parts.
I disagree with that definition of Shared Engineering. Retools I agree are figures where you take the tooling for them and change it, so downscaling a figure, and removing a part of it would be retooling. But the way I've always seen Shared Engineering described until I stared doing youtube, is when figures share unchanged parts. So the legs of TR Triggerhappy, and Slugslinger would be Shared Engineering.
My guy out here spitting facts about Wildrider. Great list and I'm glad you gave Jhiaxus as unbiased review as you could. He was definitely one I didn't think I'd like as much as I do despite some of the flaws.
I am honestly not surprised at the bottom two, as while I never got around to watching anything on Wildrider, when you showed the side profile I knew immediately that A: it was going to take the bottom slot because B: It's the exact same CW mold that needs to die and quit being reused. I also figured Blitzwing would take second to last, because of it's everything, sans robot mode. Good video!
Yeah, I don't think the Deadend figure was ever as impressive as people seemed to thing, like that's a mediocre design at best, and they ran it into the ground.
@@PerspectiveEnd ot wasn't impressive its just that he was the most common retool and re paint of the CW line. Hell ge got headmasters in titans return.
I honestly don't mind Blitzwings tank mode I really liked that Animated Blitzwings alt-modes had details from both modes. Like his tank had tiny wings, his Jet had small treads and I liked that but damn, the Legacy version is really pushing it with his jet mode
By far the best wave of Legacy: Year one in my opinion. I’d have to say that I enjoyed Motormaster, Tarantulas and Knockout the most. Wildrider and G2 Megatron sadly fell short for me. Can’t wait to get Transmetal II BW Megatron in hand soon and the same goes to Armada Starscream!
Great job as always man! I agree that motormaster didn’t really get the fairest hand dealt here but it is really the only way to fairly include him with the others. Jhiaxus is definitely one of the strongest from the wave even though he has issues, he is like the kingdom cyclonus of legacy, and it looks to be the same for tarn who is an immediate grab as far I am concerned. Speaking of cyclonus, there were people talking about part of his shoulders and the hinges on his cockpit yellowing which happened to mine a while ago, but I just noticed the other day that all of the grey plastic on him yellowed pretty badly so I’m curious if that’s widespread or if I just got some sucky luck on that. Wildrider isn’t the greatest but I like him enough and he is just going to be Menasors left sock as I’ve said before so whatever.
Thank you very much. Yeah, if I had to take a guess right now, Tarn will be the number 1 of that wave, he looks the coolest, and looks the most poseable, plus his altmode is very accurate, so unless the Transformation screws it up, he's a Shoo-in.
for knockout, the instructions do show the lower leg car parts moved in a way that it doesn't block the foot. the part that is facing towards the front of the car is turned forward so that the grill piece faces the front of the robot mode
Okay, looking back on this I figured out what's going on with the Blitzwing tank. As stated many times by now, the jet thrusters were on the front of the tank on the toy and that became the back of it in the show due to an error, and in the Legacy one they spun the body of the tank back the correct way around, but they didn't do that with the nosecone and thruster. Basically it's like if a car had the grill in the back and the trunk in the front.
If Blitzwing was cartoon accurate, the turret would be attached to the back of his head. While I like the figure, I know it's not great. They got away with Astrotrain, but it looks like Blitzwing wasn't so lucky.
Fun fact: originally Tarantulas and the 3 predacon liders of the council were going to be descendants of the g2 jhiaxus' empire, but the fans prefer Unicron, so in later media they said they were created by Unicron.
which, by the way, was done because Megatron called Tarantulas a "spawn of Unicron" Though, at the time of the episode's release, he meant it as in saying "son if a bitch"
Its nice to know people have made upgrade kits to put the cars on the front of the legs now for menasor. Currently just waiting on some replacement heads now. . .
So glad to see my boy Jhiaxus pulled through, I got mine for free as compensation for getting a complete mess of a Cosmos, but he is so fun to pose, really struggle to put him down! Awesome video as always! Lookin forward to the next one!!
Honestly I wish I got Tarantulas, the only place I could find him was only at this one store that was selling it for the crap price of $50. Tarantulas and spiders in general are my favourite animals, and I loved his character. Now it’s even worse because online stores sometimes sell it for like $72.
My vote goes to jhiaxsis, he’s the most poseable figure of the wave, has a crazy satisfying transformation and the alt mode seems like something I would hate yet I absolutely love it.
I may be wrong on this, but if my memory is right, I believe the original toy used for G1 Blitzwing wasn't supposed to be seen _as_ a jet or a tank with kibble, but G1 got the thing all wrong when they brought the toy over for use in the show. With the original toy, I believe being Diaclone, it was said that whatever parts of the alternate mode you could see in the other alt mode; I.E. the purple jet parts in the beige tank mode and vice versa; are supposed to be seen as being 'invisible' in a sense, only due to limitations in transformation because of the time and how new transforming figures really were. G1, though, not only got the tnak mode backwards and had the jet cockpit up front instead the bag, but the show made those parts 100% visible. Also, dude, it's a toy. Most toys get their appeal through looks, yes, but ranting about how a _toy_ looks is just, in my opinion, a tad bit ridiculous. You're more then free to have your opinions; you don't like a look, go ahead, no one's forcing you to like it. But all the complaints of how something looks can just be thrown out the window when you remember that, again, it's a _toy._ Many strive to be fun, to be posed and expressive, and if not posable, then just use your imagination to have fun with the darn things. Again, it's a _toy_, they're meant to be played with and have fun with, not to be a "Oh god, this is _the_ perfection of the universe, this has to be perfect or else life is forfet!" A backpack or mismatched colors or whatever shouldn't have to be the end of having fun with something. I'm sorry for this tiny little rant, but sometimes, it just feels like people forget that these are toys and just view them as nothing more then things that are meant to be 'statues' when they really aren't
Absolutely you are correct. Well the rants were largely in response to so many people saying it's amazing looking, and yes there is more to it than that, but you are forgetting about display oriented collectors. So there is a large group of people for whom the look matters greatly.
The ankle tilt being locked up was a mistransformation, Youre supposed to turn the bumper to where the vent looking part is facing out, it’s in the instructions. They had t like that out of the box so that it would fit in the tray
Really it goes that way in the instructions, most people don't seem to know that. Others have told me they "Figured out you can do it the way you describe" but they've never said that they did it because it was in the instructions.
I just got Elita-1, just bought Pointblank (just have to wait for it to ship)*, and I've wrapped my niece's Christmas present up (SS85 Arcee) and just need to mail it to her. So far, it's shaping up to be a good December for me. :)
Great video PerspectiveEnd!!! Jhiaxus and Tarantulas are decisively the best figures for Wave 2 of Legacy despite their flaws. They were at the top of my list of Legacy wave 2 figures before the wave was released. My third favorite figure of the wave is core class Shockwave, then my fourth is Knock-Out. Keep on being amazing.
So in my rewatch of G1 recently I've noticed Blitzwings tank cone nose more thanks to the Legacy figure. It also shows why I can't stand cartoon accuracy for G1 because this nose cone was never consistent at all. Sometimes it looked just as egregious as the figure, sometimes shorter, but trying to be accurate to a show infamous for it's animation errors as well as how you mentioned with MP Megatron's way too long legs being the result of the model sheet being foreshortening, I really wish they'd go more for trying to make the figures look like the characters without trying to be cartoon accurate while failing at the same time as with Blitzwing and ER Cliffjumper. It's also how you get things like the MP-45 Bumblebee, so it really isn't worth it. At least SS86 has more of a reason to attempt accuracy but even there they take liberties that, imo, make the figure better like the awesome sculpted detail on Grimlock rather than trying to just be smooth all the way like modern MPs. Its not that I got a problem with show accuracy as a whole, it's that G1 is the worst show to try doing it for due to how inconsistent it was. Here's hoping we get out of this era and get more IDW like Velocitron Blurr and Tarn. Tarantulas is also the only figure from wave 2 I got so he automatically wins by default
Yeah, it's infuriating, why try to be accurate to something that was only there by mistake, and never the same looking twice, with most of its appearances being less prominent. Hope you love the Tarantulas.
@@PerspectiveEnd And then they take huge liberties with the rest of it. Which I'd be fine with, heck I'd love to see them do something like Classics and early Generations again where they do their own designs for G1 rather than trying to adapt anything specific, at least sometimes anyway. The Classic Seeker mold is not only better than the ER one but, for Classics, is more true to the design than most others like Prime and Bumblebee for example. Or just adapt IDW like they were doin for a while, if only because I want to see an IDW Prowl figure just so he gets the ERcee treatment from you. Oh he's great. I kinda wondered how they'd do a figure of him because his original toy and show designs, robot modes at least, weren't THAT different. He was more toy accurate than the others in season 1 at least. Love the inclusion of the transmetal pizza cutter too that's a nice touch.
Hey, just wanted to let you know on your latest video, that I really like that your branching out with your content with the media reviews and roasts. I can't wait for TF AOE roast.
You know, Hasbro says they’re using class scaling as more of a price range for tooling now, instead of just regular sizes, but they certainly haven’t been doing the best job with it. First was Hot Rod. There was no tooling to indicate him deserving the voyager class price point-otherwise we wouldn’t have a faux-forming car hood for his vehicle mode-and the only thing extra going for him is his accessories, which still don’t excuse him being a voyager. Especially when you consider that the new redeco for the 86 Hot Rod is going to be a deluxe class this time-at least from what I heard. Then you have 86 Ironhide. With that figure, the extra tooling shows. I do wish he was slightly taller than Hot Rod, but he still seems like a fun figure. But then you have Blitzwing. A voyager figure given the leader price point. One can assume that this was because they needed the money to make him triple change, but they certainly didn’t try hard enough. The robot mode looks good, and I’m actually fine with the tank mode, but that jet mode is so poorly conceived. It’s not TR Broadside bad, but it’s still not a good jet mode. And it’s a shame cause I really would have liked to have this Blitzwing in my collection, but the jet mode is just not doing it for me. Anyways, onto more positive news, have you seen the leaked images of Studio Series ROTB Air razor? I gotta say, she’s looking really good. She looks to have a great robot mode and a great falcon mode. Obviously since the Maximals and Predacons all have robot animal modes for the movie, making toys will be easier since they don’t have to worry much about the organic components most Beast Wars figures have. For example, with regular Air razor, you’d have to tuck away most of the body into a ball to achieve the flacon mode. But with ROTB Air razor, they have her legs become the front of the wings and it looks beautiful. Now that’s not to discredit the organic animal modes-I still love those-but having robot animal modes does help with more flush toy designs. And I certainly can’t wait to see what comes next-especially since we’re supposedly meant to get the ROTB trailer next month.
Yeah, seeing that Airazor figure makes me really glad that I skipped the Kingdom version. That thing is basically perfect. Sure, she doesn't look identical to her Beasties version, but I'd much rather have a well-designed toy than something that perfectly re-creates '90s CGI. I've also always been more of a fan of animal-shaped machine altmodes than straight-up organic altmodes. Really looking forward to seeing what they do with Cheetor and Rhinox, two other toys that I skipped in Kingdom. The movie toylines are really weird for me. The actual on-screen designs in the Bay movies were the most hideous pieces of crap imaginable, but a lot of the toy-only characters are among the best the franchise has ever produced. That hyper-detailed look can be amazing when they still give things a coherent shape and focal points, and I'm glad that RotB seems to be getting it right even for the on-screen characters.
I've been saying this since they started doing it, that's just an excuse, they love to lie to us about stuff like that to cover their asses on why releases they have aren't up to standarad. The Ironhide is taller than Hotrod? It's the same size as the Siege one. It's so upsetting when the TR Voyager, looked like a Real tank, and a real Jet, plus had a good robot mode, so this thing which looks like neither a good tank or jet really stands out. I have seen airazor, if there's more info I'll do a reveals and leaks video soon.
@@PerspectiveEnd For 86 Ironhide, I mean have him at least be a head taller than 86 Hot Rod. When both figures are next to each other, Ironhide is only about half a centimeter slightly taller than Hot Rod, and most of that is because of mohawk think on his helmet.
It is interesting that this seems to be the one time hasbro has really given the rest of the world some love, it was also widely available in Australia from what I've been told.
Yeah, Hasbro pulse UK had them all set for August/July releases this year excluding Blitzwing who released back in September. Wave three will release later this month with BW Transmetal II Megatron coming out in December.
@@PlatinumKnight-je3vy Yeah, and I've never seen any swaps or empty boxes here. I think the only in-store thing we don't get is Walgreens and Target exclusives
I recently got Jhiaxus and I really enjoy him(even if he is ugly as sin in the face), especially since his opening hands make it SUPER easy to put him in a pose that gives off serious "condescending asshole scientist who talks down to others". I also made up a fan-mode of the alt-mode where his wings stay in his robot mode configuration because I didn't really like how his wings looked in the official configuration.
Yeah, there are a few ways to reconfigure the transformation to make the altmode look a little cooler, and the hands are such a plus at this scale, it's nice to have these.
3:32 - Just got the Toyhax sticker set for Knockout and did go ahead and cut a scrap of the burgundy vinyl for the nose; it does improve the look of the figure a lot.
@@PerspectiveEnd Gives him the burgundy details on the car as well as more accurate side designs, headlights and front detailing, and silver and red accents for robot mode. Also black eyes with metallic red "pupils" that are a real CHORE to apply. (Also nicely dark metallic window stickers I didn't use.)
Maybe I’m just coping because I really like the figure just for looking more natural in poses than most chug, but with Jhiaxus’s alt mode, I can’t help but see the arms like undermounted scramjets for hypersonic flight. It’s like the X-43, can’t fly for shit in normal conditions but you aren’t gonna be shooting it down. Plus I usually like to take the front of the shoulder scope off, stick it on the back of the gun, and stick the gun backwards on top of the plane like a… weird extended scope fin thing. Dunno. Anyways. Respectable tier list, completely agree with wildrider as the worst.
Thank you, and yeah Wildrider sucks, and I get why you'd feel that way about Jhiaxus, but I really feel like if they were going for that they could have made it look a bit more like that and not just arms.
Really fun video, as always. Honestly, I WAS gonna get Menasor, but things quickly went downhill, the use of G1 accuracy feels like it's using it as a crutch more than anything, Wildrider and Breakdown just feel like an afterthought, and the combiner is visually lacking. Also, I'm one of those crazy people that actually get the combiner characters for more than just the gestalt, and mah boy Break got done dirty. Thoughts on Earthspark, if you've watched it.
Dude you should do a what’s the best at the end of every line in prep for the next one. Like take all of the legacy figures and do what’s the best, while waiting for legacy evolution
Thanks for another great WTB. I have to agree with you worst choice… from what I’ve heard from others, wild-rider was so bad that he’s wrecked Menosaur and people’s desire to get all the stunticons. My Eris Kultur arrived the other day… still has the shins problem but it is an absolutely amazing figure definitely one of the crown jewels of my collection!
Omg that blitzwing part was so great to hear from someone else hahaha ive had the same discussion every time Ive mentioned how shit I think the altmodes are and was sometimes almost starting to feel like I was the crazy one xD
It's been driving me nuts I think this is the 3rd or 4rth time I've tried to explain it, and people just would not get it, it's so frustrating that they kept just going, "Yeah it's ugly but it's G1 accurate" when it's not.
Blitzwing looks a bit better in jet mode if you detach the tank kibble and think of it as a flight stand angling the jet upwards. It's not a great fix, bit it's something
I'm, tbh, glad Jhiaxus took the top spot, because even if I completely adore Tarantulas, he simply isn't that fun, by design. The backpack I find a bit annoying, spider legs always hit spots, it's still wonderful But Jhiaxus is just better. I love the presence he has his sculpt is so dynamic that even if he doesn't pull everything off, he still feels like he does I haven't seen such nicely "filled out" figure in a while Transformation is really fun, while Tarantulas has a bit of a playdoh factor And Alt mode? Yeah, I've experienced worse jetmodes. Sure, the fridge is annoying, but the rest? He rocks it. Thanks to him, I don't need any more g1/chug styled Megatron (I wanted to get the Armada Leg-Evo one) or even Tarn, cause Jhiaxus just fills the main villain role so perfectly.
I honestly love the fact we’re getting more G2 figures. Hoping we can get some repaints of the siege seekers in G2 colors. Maybe even repaints of the Armada Starscream figure.
And I'm happy to hear that, I don't want to convince you to dislike the stuff you bought if you already enjoy it, and I'm happy that all I did was entertain you.
Blitzwing was actually transformed wrong in the shower in the original g1 instructions and diaclone figure the cockpit was supposed to be in the back leaving the boosters in front
Remember? Where would Motormaster be placed if you considered the combind mode? Also, a question: If you hate "handguns" cause they ruin tension, why do you like strapped cannons like Megatron's and Tarn's? Also any deception jet-former? They also have them just on the go. Is it because if they were chopped off, they wouldn't be simtaniously losing a limb? Also, have you seen the MMC Streetwise? Looks as good as their First Aid
Well that's why I'm not including the combined mode until it's finished. I don't know where it would end up as it being incomplete prevents it from being fully what it needs to be for me to feel it's fair to judge it. Just look at the G1 movie, Megatron had his Fusion Cannon Knocked off and crushed under rubble. You can disarm someone with an arm cannon without cutting off the whole arm. And yes, I'm excited for the street wise.
Actually, the look for knockout had nothing to do with it bein an 86 jazz retool. It was always going tj look like that and then one of the designers mentioned that they could do it it if jazz because of the look. They weren’t stuck with the design, it was the intended look all along
I'm confused? You basically said it doesn't look wrong because it's a Jazz Retool, but then said that it was only a theory till it was made as a Jazz Retool, and I don't know how that disproves that it had to look like this if it was a ground up figure.
@@PerspectiveEnd sorry, I worded the comment horribly. Basically, they had a concept for how it would look, and it looked mostly like the final toy. After seeing the concept, one of the designers suggested making it a jazz retool cuz they looked a lot alike. And if you look at the concept art for him, it does look like the final toy. So it was never intended to look anything like prime knockout, and always looked different.
I have Tarantulas getting out of the back to the future time machine like Marty and it pulls it off well the bug legs got in the way a bit. I got Elita-1 yesterday and it sucks the head is to tight it feels like the ball joints is going to snap off the hips are fine going forward but going back is another story it has no grip it just leans back if I try standing it up straight it just flips back and it annoying.
I really hope Jiaxus gets retooled into someone who’s a little less ugly. I’m he figure is undeniably great, that face just drags the whole thing into the ground. Still looking for my Tarantulas but when I see him I’ll be ecstatic to get him on my Predicon shelf.
@@PerspectiveEnd Update: After posting this comment I broke down and looked online for Tarantulas. Had a major lucky break and scored him along with Eilita-1, Knockout, and Crankcase for $60. I didn’t really want a Crankcase but for the price of free I guess I’ll take it. I’d offer Crankcase up for a review but after hearing your speech about how that makes you feel bad I think I’ll just hold onto him.
I honestly kind of hope jhiaxus gets remolded to be used as another character. I've been _against_ that because I heard rumours that it was gonna be remolded into Armada Starscream, which I hated the idea of because it would look nothing like him, but now that I know that isn't happening it would be cool to see the mold get used again. I wanna get it, but its _so ugly_ as it is now.
You say that Knockout is less prone to self-destruction. I regret to report that mine is beginning to crack in the windshield, and the main peg that look the feet together snapped. I'm considering getting a replacement.
Man I'm sorry to hear that, that sucks, I thought for sure with them going to the effort of finishing that part really well it would stand up to the rigors of existing now.
I have to agree with the distribution complaints, I’ve only ever seen a single figure from wave two and it was only Elita 1. They look great, but it’s not like I can get any of them to share my opinions.
I pretty much agree with your ranking; I just am not as negative a few figures, but agree with their placement. I’m super excited for the next wave. I am hoping it shows up soon, but I’m not expecting that my retirement community/college town stores will be good. Back in my hometown, my dad already found wave 3 deluxes, so I have a Crankcase waiting for me. Unfortunately, he only found one Skullgrin, so he gets that one.
I don’t know why but legacy tarantulas is like my siege prime, he looked cool but when I played with him, his joints were super smooth but not loose and he just felt super smooth
whats funny is in promo art for g1 toy blitzwings tank mode implys that the jet thrusters are supposed to be in front and the tank dick on the back so they are accurate to a mistake that even the show made.........
kinda wished you put prime arcee and bulkhead next to knockout in this pose ( 3:41) with text at the top saying: "NOT MY PAINTJOB!" up top, that would of been funny as hecc
Aside from the Voyagers, Blitzwing LAST WEEK, and also very recently Shockwave, these guys are STILL not on shelves here. The wave 1 deluxes are still on pegs, though maybe they're starting to thin out. I've been looking for Blitzwing to make my own mind up for months and finally, finally got him last Friday (the 4th). I've managed to get the deluxes through Amazon for retail (or slightly less), minus Elita, since I'm holding out for Minerva. At this point, by the time Walgreens stocks Minerva, I might finally get a shot at changing my mind and grabbing Elita on the shelves. Oh, I got Motormaster through Target because I pre-ordered it to get the Red Card discount. Around here, Wave 1 of the lines shows up fairly early. I feel like I got those figures in March among the first group to do so. The waves after that? It's all hit or miss, with mostly misses. Again, thankfully Amazon has the figures, but it takes a while for them to show up at retail price instead of 2x (or more) MSRP.
It has been such a pain to find everything from this wave. That sounds like very much my personal experience finding all this stuff. And what did you think of Blitzwing?
@@PerspectiveEnd After months of mostly hearing the negatives of him (with Ham-Man being the outlier), I went in knowing he was deeply flawed. I think that helped me accept him, warts and all. I like and accept him for what he is. The transformation is fun, and he's close enough in looks for (as you would say) my lizard brain to be happy. I know he's not exactly the same, but it's okay with me.
I love legacy blitzwing so much that I just can’t agree with your points (except for the jet mode looking pretty bad) I like tanks so the tank is enough for my smooth brain to like and the robot mode is pretty darn cool
From this wave I just want motormaster and wild rider. My goal currently for legacy is to complete menasor, despite the flaws on members. My only combiner is volcanicus and I'm thinking of replacing them with the SS 86 or planet X. With menasor I can have a better combiner experience and not have a lanky loose volcanicus. I only bought volcanicus since it's the first time we get the Dinobots in G1 style and they combine which for me is a bonus, always wanted a Dinobot combiner that consists of the original Dinobot members
@@PerspectiveEnd grimlock is still a debatable one for me, because both planet X and SS 86 are great. As for slug, planet X quirinus would do. If I could find any of these figures anyway.
@@PerspectiveEnd i kinda love his visual aesthetic as a result. I'm not a fan of his traditional look as it comes off as really boring outside of the head, so change is something im happy with. I personally don't take issue with his backpack or skinny build, but i do wish he had better knees and forarms.
On my jhiaxus his knees are fine and I came up with a fan mode where you keeps the wings in the middle and fold the arms out to the side and not pull them back, looks good at the cost of not tabbing in that well
Is Siege Sixgun a good gestalt partner for Warpath? Yeah. The one I want the most, is Jhiaxus. He's ugly, but that's why he's awesome. It's the cool monster kind of ugly. In robot mode, he's just a downscaled MP. It's flawless. Alt mode's a bit lackluster, but the transformation is so smooth man, I gotta get this one. Core Shockwave, is the best Core class figure. Aside from Core Iguanus who can also double as a Gorn from Star Trek and is an entire damn revelation in terms of poseability. Shockwave's transformation is arguably equal to Core Soundwave if you think Soundwave's shoulder cannon is mandatory, and Shockwave's got good poseability unlike Soundwave. And Shockwave's weapon is built in, I don't have to worry about losing the guns. Elita is cute, but I found that old Prime Arcee, and for some reason Prime Arcee's like a goddess of beauty compared to everything else to me. Still getting the Elita though. Both of them are MUST HAVES for me. I put them on my wishlist for how attractive they are. Not because they're the best figures possible.
I think they would work together yeah. He does make for a Great Gorn yes. I can't believe I never made that observation before. Glad you like that design so much.
I think Blitzwing is the worst. What good is a fun transformation if you never want to transform it into either of its horrid alt-modes. At that point all you have is an action master. At least I can enjoy Wildrider’s alt-mode and the robot is just bland. (Not that I really like Wildrider mind you) Also the legends Shockwave was from Combiner wars not Titans return. Also also I believe in Swolita supremacy. I wonder why they didn’t paint the patterns on the sides of Tarantulas’ thighs?
Trantulas was them saving money. As for Blitzwing, He at least has a Great Robot mode, and good transformations, where as Wildrider only has a good atlmode.
I should have called it before the video, but I knew Tarantulas and Jhiaxus would be at the top. I never found any of the wave 2 deluxes at retail so I ordered Tarantulas with Skullgrin last night off of Amazon. It's kind of sad that Tarantulas is $17.49, and Jhiaxus is $23.99 there, and Wildrider and KO are full price.
His latest design will be Legacy Tarn...so yeah that Tarn figure is promising to be absolutely amazing given who worked on it.
wow, PE Is gonna be confused about him designing Both Siege And ER Optimus, Considering How He Views ER As a Downgrade to Siege
This guy is responsible for the best Transformers designs in recent memory, wow.
Ok, so yeah, I'd not heard that, and totally, that Guys a ROCK STAR.
The Tarn is downright gorgeous. I mean beautiful.
@@PerspectiveEnd my first transformer was the fall of cybertron deluxe class optimus prime
It went missing years ago and I'm still
Looking for it on ebay and Amazon but the Amazon one is $200
I actually quite like Motormaster's backpack because it makes him look more beefy which I think fits the character.
I can feel you on that.
Hasbro actually wanted to make Elite-1's alt-mode more like Minivera, but Takara interestingly was the one to insist that it be changed to the more "dune bugy" look.
Interesting, I'd not heard this, where did you pick up that tidbit?
The source came to me in a dream
@@PerspectiveEnd It's from the Hasbro Design team themselves.
I can see Shockwave making little drones of him self.
Fyi: there wasn't actually a Titans Return Legends Class Shockwave, but there was a Combiner Wars Legends Class Shockwave.
Damn it! Of course I mess up a detail like that.
Absolutely the Combined mode transformation despite the Partsforming is actually fun.
Honestly legacy overall has been super impressive for me. The only real stinkers in the line are wildrider, blitzwing, and core hot rod. Everything else has ranged from ok to outstanding, mostly just being outstanding. I can't wait to pick up tarantulas, he looks so darn good!!
Legacy’s been the best line for the name Generations, Hasbro have really out done themselves this year!
Yeah those colors are really cool. They heal a pretty bland figure stand out more.
A lot of people have a lot of fondness for that little Shockwave.
Yeah, I was kind of hoping to hate Jhiaxus because of the way he looks and I just couldn't.
I honestly don't mind Blitzwings tank mode
I really liked that Animated Blitzwings alt-modes had details from both modes. Like his tank had tiny wings, his Jet had small treads and I liked that but damn, the Legacy version is really pushing it with his jet mode
I'm ok with some details bleeding through. Just not the one they chose.
It's definitely got Higher Highs than the first wave, but the lows are far lower too.
I love how perfect motormasters truck mode is, with the normal looking truck bed since the legs are made of the cab instead
Yeah, they managed to make it not suck, which is remarkably hard to do with this design.

Sometimes not reading the Instructions really bites me in the ass.
@@PerspectiveEnd same here
I'm betting there's already upgrade kits on the way to make the CW leg bots able to better hold up menasaur, and give him more height
I do believe that's true.
They already did that during CW but the only good thing was the foot upgrades.
To be fair, yes this is yet another reason it shouldn't have been done this way.
If Blitzwing was cartoon accurate, the turret would be attached to the back of his head.
While I like the figure, I know it's not great. They got away with Astrotrain, but it looks like Blitzwing wasn't so lucky.
Which just shows they could make choices that would improve the look of the figure, when they wanted to.
Fun fact: originally Tarantulas and the 3 predacon liders of the council were going to be descendants of the g2 jhiaxus' empire, but the fans prefer Unicron, so in later media they said they were created by Unicron.
which, by the way, was done because Megatron called Tarantulas a "spawn of Unicron"
Though, at the time of the episode's release, he meant it as in saying "son if a bitch"
@@timeman7753 xd
Wow, I actually prefer that over the Unicron one.
Dang that blitzwing part was gold. We need more blitzwing, it brings out the best of perspective.
What part about the Blitzwing was really what appealed to you?
You’ll figure it out. Heheheh
Its nice to know people have made upgrade kits to put the cars on the front of the legs now for menasor.
Currently just waiting on some replacement heads now. . .
Replacement heads for who?
@@PerspectiveEnd Legacy menasor because I hate the head
Make sure to keep care of your knockout: you dont want to ruin his lustrous finish
That would just be tragic.
So glad to see my boy Jhiaxus pulled through, I got mine for free as compensation for getting a complete mess of a Cosmos, but he is so fun to pose, really struggle to put him down!
Awesome video as always! Lookin forward to the next one!!
Thank you very much, glad I could entertain, as for Jhiaxus yeah, he's so good. I wanted to hate him cause of the way he looks and I just cant.
Honestly I wish I got Tarantulas, the only place I could find him was only at this one store that was selling it for the crap price of $50. Tarantulas and spiders in general are my favourite animals, and I loved his character. Now it’s even worse because online stores sometimes sell it for like $72.
Yeah, I got lucky and found ONE at Target, and never again.
My vote goes to jhiaxsis, he’s the most poseable figure of the wave, has a crazy satisfying transformation and the alt mode seems like something I would hate yet I absolutely love it.
Well your vote went towards the winner.
Lol everyone is kicking blitzwing in the thumbnail.
And Wildrider, but it's hard to see taht.
As someone who used a fine tip brush to paint knockout’s nose, it looks so much better.
Yeah, I'm sure it does, I'll have to get on that soon.
@@PerspectiveEnd I just checked the product shot on the box and the legs are oriented like I said, so I do think it’s right, yeah
I just got Elita-1, just bought Pointblank (just have to wait for it to ship)*, and I've wrapped my niece's Christmas present up (SS85 Arcee) and just need to mail it to her. So far, it's shaping up to be a good December for me. :)
And I had a feeling that the Wave 2 What's the Best would be next.
Nice, that is pretty cool, I hope she loves it. My Niece has good taste and likes the Transformers too.
Shockwave is so much fun, the tiny little dude.
Thank you, I've been enjoying the change of pace, I started this channel to do far more than just TF reviews.
To quote my upcoming review for knockout "knockout is held back by the fact he is a retool"
Indeed he is.
I think a lot of LW2 got sent to the UK, we've had all of the figures since mid August
It is interesting that this seems to be the one time hasbro has really given the rest of the world some love, it was also widely available in Australia from what I've been told.

To be fair, if your defense of a shitty figure includes the words "it's G1 accurate" then your argument is instantly invalid
This is true, but in this case it's not even true. This isn't G1, and the fact that people keep telling me it is is driving me insane.
I Appreciate your opinions...excellent work

3:32 - Just got the Toyhax sticker set for Knockout and did go ahead and cut a scrap of the burgundy vinyl for the nose; it does improve the look of the figure a lot.

Tarantulas and the eventual Inferno are making me consider getting some Beast Wars figures (even if it’s just the Predacons)

I'll say that chug still puts out great figures often, it just wasn't in this wave.
But MP is great too.
Blitzwing jet and tank mode can be separate by removing the for the backpack and arm transformation joints
Exactly, one pin and you have two altmodes, that's lame.

@@PerspectiveEnd But of course.
If hasbro ever does my favorite combiner liokaiser, I just know they’re going to fuck it up somehow. Looking at you deadend, wildrider, and breakdown.
Maybe maybe not, they won't exactly have something they can retool that out of, though that didn't stop them with Skylynx.
I'm amused that this wave stated that Elita 2 was enough to fight against 6 normal-sized bad guys
Ah man, I should have pointed out that this was the Villain wave.
Jhiaxus is warming shelves at my local big box stores, if only people knew
I'm not seeing him in most stores my self.
I have not yet. Making WTB's is Hard and it's eaten up all my time recently.
I'd definitely say the G1 accuracy argument is a Crutch for Blitzwing.
Dude you should do a what’s the best at the end of every line in prep for the next one. Like take all of the legacy figures and do what’s the best, while waiting for legacy evolution
I have wanted to do that, it's just I'm always busy, so it's hard to find the place in my schedule for that to fit.
To be fair you did hear that from me.
Glad to hear that, sucks that they didn't fix the shins but happy to have lead you to one of your new favorites.
@@PerspectiveEnd Yes, but it wasn’t just you. There were others as well.
Yeah, I've seen some people pull that, and it is a least some kind of Improvement.
I'm, tbh, glad Jhiaxus took the top spot, because even if I completely adore Tarantulas, he simply isn't that fun, by design. The backpack I find a bit annoying, spider legs always hit spots, it's still wonderful
But Jhiaxus is just better.
I love the presence he has
his sculpt is so dynamic that even if he doesn't pull everything off, he still feels like he does
I haven't seen such nicely "filled out" figure in a while
Transformation is really fun, while Tarantulas has a bit of a playdoh factor
And Alt mode? Yeah, I've experienced worse jetmodes. Sure, the fridge is annoying, but the rest? He rocks it.
Thanks to him, I don't need any more g1/chug styled Megatron (I wanted to get the Armada Leg-Evo one) or even Tarn, cause Jhiaxus just fills the main villain role so perfectly.
Yeah the Bug Legs are always a little frustrating on anyone they are on.
Why does a Jhiaxus take away your need of a Megatron?
I honestly love the fact we’re getting more G2 figures. Hoping we can get some repaints of the siege seekers in G2 colors. Maybe even repaints of the Armada Starscream figure.
I have heard rumblings of a Straxus.
Maybe we can finally get a slipstream. She was entirely skipped in the WFC trilogy even though we got Sandstorm and Redwing of all characters
Maybe, though tbh Armada Starscream doesn’t really fit her design. I think a whole new figure would work best for her.
I enjoyed Blitzwing but I enjoy your honesty as the vehicle was so odd.
And I'm happy to hear that, I don't want to convince you to dislike the stuff you bought if you already enjoy it, and I'm happy that all I did was entertain you.
Finally, the what’s the best grimlock is getting so close
That is going to be a BRUTAL video to make.
Blitzwing was actually transformed wrong in the shower in the original g1 instructions and diaclone figure the cockpit was supposed to be in the back leaving the boosters in front
I am aware of this yes.
while I might not agree with you entirely, I still love your way of thinking and the overall thought process. Keep it up. ps motormaster #1
Thank you very much. Glad I can entertain even when we disagree.
Remember?
Where would Motormaster be placed if you considered the combind mode?
Also, a question:
If you hate "handguns" cause they ruin tension, why do you like strapped cannons like Megatron's and Tarn's?
Honestly my favorite is motormaster, but jhiaxus is a very close second
The problem is I can't take all of Motormaster into account, and without his combined mode he's basically just a big Deluxe.
Is it like a Separate Back to the Future Delorean, or is it the Crossover Jiggawat figure?
@@PerspectiveEnd it the big Lego collector one. Tarantulas is secretly doc
I really hope Jiaxus gets retooled into someone who’s a little less ugly. I’m he figure is undeniably great, that face just drags the whole thing into the ground. Still looking for my Tarantulas but when I see him I’ll be ecstatic to get him on my Predicon shelf.
I hope so too, I just don't know who they'd plan on having it be.
Such a solid video! 👌
Thank you very much.
I think that was only the rumor because he used to be a Starscream Retool.
@@PerspectiveEnd Maybe, maybe not. We'll see.
I have to agree with the distribution complaints, I’ve only ever seen a single figure from wave two and it was only Elita 1. They look great, but it’s not like I can get any of them to share my opinions.
The only two I've seen in person were Tarantulas, and Jhiaxus, and I only ever saw the 1 Tarantulas.
The pink on Elita looks like pink frosting on a frosted sugar cookie
I hope retooling existing figures also doesn't become a common thing within the line, and in future toylines to come
That's a common thing within all Transformers lines.
@@PerspectiveEnd i guess
I pretty much agree with your ranking; I just am not as negative a few figures, but agree with their placement.
I’m super excited for the next wave. I am hoping it shows up soon, but I’m not expecting that my retirement community/college town stores will be good. Back in my hometown, my dad already found wave 3 deluxes, so I have a Crankcase waiting for me. Unfortunately, he only found one Skullgrin, so he gets that one.
The next wave looks pretty good, and hey congrats, sounds like you have a cool dad.
Tarantulas and Jhiaxus are amazing. Want to get the Jhiaxus upgrade kit, makes him even better.
Wait? Which kit are you talking about?
@@PerspectiveEnd 2 kits for Jhiaxus. Covers for the cockpit. ua-cam.com/video/jSmTUecPM5k/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/WqlmfZJ6zjc/v-deo.html
I don’t know why but legacy tarantulas is like my siege prime, he looked cool but when I played with him, his joints were super smooth but not loose and he just felt super smooth
That "But when I played with him" in there made it sound like you were about to start hating on him.
I really like shockwave but he just can’t stand at all in unless he’s tilting forward
His heels do suck super hard.
I'm kinda glad I managed to get Wildrider for only 8 bucks because of a spare amazon gift card I had lying around
That would make him go down a little easier.
I can’t wait for wave 3
Yeah, it's hard finding wave 3 at all so far.
@@PerspectiveEnd I saw like 4 of the deluxe class figures from wave 3 at target already but I was to broke to get any of them
Broly: i did a custom cartoon accurate optimus prime head by recoloring the core magnus head with markers
Broly from DBZ did that?
Broly(DBZ):@@PerspectiveEnd yep and it's a easy customizing
whats funny is in promo art for g1 toy blitzwings tank mode implys that the jet thrusters are supposed to be in front and the tank dick on the back so they are accurate to a mistake that even the show made.........
Yeah cause on the toy, that's how it went. The show did it wrong.
kinda wished you put prime arcee and bulkhead next to knockout in this pose ( 3:41) with text at the top saying: "NOT MY PAINTJOB!" up top, that would of been funny as hecc
That would have been a good idea, so it's not wonder why I didn't think of it.
@@PerspectiveEnd lol maybe youll get a idea for the next prime character they do.
(i swear if karma tries anything ima commit dye
Interesting video. I still love this wave. Hope 3 wave will be not bad.
It was a good wave. More of it was great than it was terrible, but the Terrible stuff was REALLY bad.
I just don't understand why the tank is wrong, and the tank is wrong the way it's wrong.
Dang, I thought for sure tarantulus was going to take it but I’m surprised by the outcome
It was close for sure. Super Close.
See ya next week for best of wave 3
Wave 3 aint even out yet.
The only wave 2 thing I have is the Soundwave.
And I figured out a Revenge of The Fallen inspired satallite fan mode.
For who?
@@PerspectiveEnd for Soundwave of course.
Which one? There were like 3 Soundwaves in the last few years.
@@PerspectiveEnd The Siege one.
I would highly recommend the 86 Dinobots, those things are some of the best figures to come out in the last several years.
@@PerspectiveEnd grimlock is still a debatable one for me, because both planet X and SS 86 are great. As for slug, planet X quirinus would do. If I could find any of these figures anyway.
I really hope they release an actually good g1 wheeljack figure sometime
We can hope. I doubt it will be in 86 considering his only shot in it, was of a half destroyed corpse.
This reminds me of the jhiaxus v tarantulas cult war in the discord server
Oh yeah, that was like the LAST thing I really partook of in the old server.
Wildrider looks like a Russian mobster wearing Adidas, and i love that
I do feel you on that, he looks like he's got his Tracki Suit.
Do you think you’ll do a what’s the best for the stunticons when you complete menasor?
There's a possibility of that.
On my jhiaxus his knees are fine and I came up with a fan mode where you keeps the wings in the middle and fold the arms out to the side and not pull them back, looks good at the cost of not tabbing in that well
Do you have pictures of it?
(Not that I really like Wildrider mind you)
Also the legends Shockwave was from Combiner wars not Titans return.
I had to watch this again. I feel asleep last time because I saw it at dawn. Still I agree, with the list Jihaxus and Tarantulas win!
Thank you. I can't fall asleep unless I'm trying to personally.
Wait Skullgrin is on Amazon right now?
Thanks for the tip, weird that Skullgrin is going to be my first wave 3 Figure.
@@PerspectiveEnd Starscream is up too, but he doesn't ship until the end of the month.
