I always thought his name was a pun/kewl-sounding version of some type of Axis Measurement, (Considering he does turn into an Aircraft),

Yeah, I'm a Transformers fan, but I've never heard of this character. I love getting to learn more about Transformers through these videos.
I had 0 clue who this guy was when the Legacy figure was announced. Therefore had no intentions of adding it to the collection. But after this episode, which I say was absolutely AWESOME...he will be set free from the cardboard prison and added to the Transformers shelf when released in store. Seriously man, this dudes story seems awesome, and really neat how all the different versions through history seem to flow seemingly off each other. Thank you again Chris for educating us on the little unknowns of Transformers!!!

Sadly, while the story sounds good, Generation 2 is infamously a huge mess, and is some of Simon Furman's worst writing. It's also full of god-awful 90s art where everyone's bulked out, with huge chins and permanent scowling faces. Regeneration 1 is great though!

i once owned the very first g2 comic. he was first introduced there, i thought he would never be talked about again. it's been a LONG while, indeed!
Honestly, I'm surprised that no one decided to link Jhiaxus with Straxus, as their names are off of three letters of each, like maybe make them ancient enemies or allies with aligning interests and/or a past linking the both of them jn some way.
In IDW both Jihaxus and Stratus were both followers of Nova Prime. Who wanted to colonize all planets capable of life, but their quest led them to get trapped in the dead universe.
A cosmically powered Starscream...but you never said it this time!
As a fan of g2,i was so happy that he get a comic accurate toy,i grew up with the g2 comics i thought they were the coolest thing that ever happened because of jhaixus,i do like his g2 and idw design actually

Happens to about three out of four Marvel TFs.
And it's funny since he got offline years after the original Underbase story, thus retroactively adding him to the list

I'm such a sucker for stories that have the Autobots and Decepticons working together in order to stop a common enemy. Jhiaxus, especially in his early g2 appearance, kind of reminds me of beast machines Megatron. Especially since both wanted to hide their violent/beastly side.
With how much the Underbase affects into various TF storylines, I'm surprised there hasn't been a basics on it yet.
As for Jhiaxus (Gee, axe us. lol.), I didn't follow the comics as closely as I did the TV shows but I was vaguely aware of Jhiaxus's existence. I was mildly interested in an enemy so powerful and cruel that it would cause the Autobots and Decepticons to join forces, but not enough to actually pick up the comics. I wouldn't mind seeing him depicted in animation.
My favorite take on the character is the decepticon version created by Alpha Trion, whose intentions were to unify the Autobots and decepticons and eventually surrendering once he attacks Cybertron with an army of clones, and I've never actually encountered the character I've never even heard of him.
This episode will help enlighten me on him more than ever,i wish if we had a g2 cartoon back then,so jhaixus will be one of the most iconic characters ever
really love his original design, the asymmetry and eclectic colour scheme really make his pop whenever hes in a group
Even though he wasn’t part of the true underbase saga in the original Marvel comic. You could say that TECHNICALLY Jhiaxus was offlined by a cosmically powered Starscream

One other thing- for some reason to me it appeared Jhiaxus was like a spawn of Starscream, they seemed to share some similarities in physical appearance. Except Jhiaxus was beefier.
That would make a good Elseworld story. Jhiaxus being Starscream’s darker and primal self given form, embodying the worst aspects of his being.
Jhiaxus has been involved with some of the most cool and uniquely creative stories in all of transformers. Serving liege maximo and the D void? Bloody awesome

It's good knowing that a character like Jhiaxus left such a mark that he never went away and still finds ways to come back and be more interesting than when he first shows up, but I'm more than a little happy to see him finally have a toy that's a proper representation of his G2 look, that's been a long time coming.
I love the fact that the reason Starscream beat Jhiaxus in IDW was because Jhiaxus flat out said "I know your ludicrous new body better than you do." while pulling out a pair of swords and Starscream is like "Wait I have those??? Wait, I have those..."
Wow, this was WAY more interesting of an origin than I expected. Such an interesting name coming from a joke was unexepeted, though😂.
I’m really excited for the legacy toy, I never grew up with the g2 comic but I just think it looks cool.

I recently saw a post that said Simon Furman wasn't getting any royalties from Hasbro from the upcoming Jhiaxus figure, despite being the creator of the character. I hope Hasbro will rectify this and give the comic creators the rights they deserve.
I fear sending him a copy of the toy is the most that'll happen. It's the nature of the "work for hire" assignment, it was in the contracts as far back as the 80s, Furman knew it at the time, and every creator who's invented an original TF for an official comic since him has known it too: Hasbro owns the character, full stop.

You either have to unfairly take away the rights to the characters from their original creators, or you risk encountering another Circuit Breaker situation, where the only people interested in bringing back the character lack the rights to it, or in the worst case scenario: a Ken Penders situation, where the person who only had a hand in creating the characters takes all the rights to themselves and barely does anything with them, barring them from both their co-creators and those who love the characters enough to actually officially release something with them, rather than making a single comic chapter for twelve years. The situation is not black and white, right and wrong actions are hard to distinguish between.
If I'm correct the law says that if the character was made for a joint project the joint project's IP holder has the character's rights.
@@genyakozlov1316 The truth is that Sega won the case, they have the characters. but, sadly, they don't want people to use those characters, along with the Freedom Fighters. This is one of the weird Sega mandates that doesn't let Sonic be sad or angry or Shadow not be a plain emo most of the time.

I was impressed by the original G2 comics character...later incarnations as 'mad scientist' haven't felt like they've done him justice. I'll keep an eye out for the new toy, would be a nice addition to my collection.
It’s one of those irritating IDWisms where virtually every major Decepticon antagonist are mad scientists because they’re so “creative”.

I've always wondered who's the perfect villain in the Transformers universe, and Jhiaxus certainly ranks up in the top 10. By the way, Regeneration One killing him off, you could say is being "offlined by a cosmically-powered Starscream", but better!

I wonder what Jhiaxus would be like in the Shattered Glass series? Would he be some benevolent and dedicated to the common good type scientist or would he be a grumpy medic like Prime and Animated Ratchet? If the people who are working on this series are reading this, get to it. I think it would make for a good addition!
Here’s a weirder fact. When Bob Forward and Larry Ditillio were writing Beast Wars, they meant for The Vok to be an evolved version of The Swarm.
I cannot wait to get a comics-accurate Jhiaxus! Teenage me is thrilled at his reveal. Now, they just need to make him some troops.

Oh, man! I really really really love the olders genesis of the Marvel's TF's. There was so awesome and dark: Shockwave, Megatron, Xi, ect.
Regeneration 1 was the most amazing gift of Furman.
Jhiaxus also appeared in Transformers: Cyberverse as a supersoldier from an alternate universe where Megatron conquered Cybertron. This Jhiaxus tricked the alliance of Decepticons and Autobots into leading him to an artifact that gave him complete control of the other clones, but he was soon defeated at the cost of Soundwave's sacrifice.

It's wild that there's an official G2 comic accurate toy finally, I remember 20 years ago when people suggested RID2001 Galvatron as the closest thing we'd ever get.
The artwork of the Generation 2 series really makes me want to add this guy to my collection. The details and saturated color schemes combined with that 90s edge make it feel unique. The concept of the character too is fascinating. It's not too often the Autobots and Decepticons need to join together to fight something bigger than them. The fact that Jhiaxus can take down Optimus and Megatron is just so badass

Just recently picked up the Legacy figure and it is AMAZING.
As a G1 fan when it came out, I felt that the Generation 2 comic was ret-conning the transformers universe too much to be enjoyable. With this video I have found peace and a new appreciation for the story contained within. Thank you Chris!

G2 had a one of the best powerhouses being Jhiaxus!
Definitely one of my favorite Transformers characters, not just because of his funny name and cool design, but because I thought the concept of IDW Jhiaxus was really neat, along with his role in the story. Its because of my proper introduction to Jhiaxus being through IDW that I wasn't really sure if I'd like the Legacy figure being based on his G2 design, but it's grown on me since then.
Jhiaxus could've been an interesting villian to adapt in the bay verse movies, especially because of the cyberforming in Age of Extinction, but hopefully we get him inn future movies/tv shows
He probably could have made a good minion or head scientist for Quinntessa, maybe make him Infernocous creator.

First time that I learned about him was in the IDW saga. Really liked that amoral scientist depiction and his obsesion with creating the perfect Gestalt
If memory serves, the sales numbers Marvel gave to Simon regarding the Gen 2 comic were ridiculous. Like, X-Men levels of sales, something there was absolutely zero chance of him accomplishing in the best of cases. The writing was most definitely on the wall from the get-go.
I always saw Jhiaxus having a German accent. And now that I know that he tried to establish a universal wide empire Hitler style, I can now say that he does have a German accent. Just my opinion.
I'm gonna make Jhiaxus a character in my fanfiction, drawing inspiration from the Regeneration One story.
I've been looking forwat to a G2 accurate version of this figure for ages, been using TLK Megatron as my stand-in.
My only hope is that they dull down the white before mass-production, its far too bright.

I thought Jihaxis was a chinese bootleg toy that became offical transformers character because the comic book writer wanted to see if they could sneak in bootlegs into Transformers as a joke.
The Jhiaxus/'gee, axe us" etymology brings to mind the Games Workshop 40k Chaos Primarch Angron - allegedly named after a bouncer nicknamed "Angry Ron". Great vid Chris!
The original portrayal of Jhiaxus in the G2 comics is my favourite by far; I'm so looking forward to finally owning a comic-accurate version of him in the Legacy toyline 😊

Thanks, Chris! Jhiaxus was a Furman villain I loved to hate back in the day, the depiction of his death by The Swarm as good as Galvatron being sucked into time; both were hoist by their own petard.

Gold Plastic Syndrome is a thing of the past, in all but like one weird outlier case in the mid 2010s, gold plastic is as stable as any other colour.

I remember back in 1993 7th grade I could not sleep it was a morning in January. Then I saw a ad For transformers on TV.It said coming soon to marvel comics. Then I saw thr toys in stores was so excited. I was waiting for months for the comic to come out. Finally came out in September. Long enough wait.. My FIrst encounter with the character right there.I was still hoping we get a toy of him. But after 30 years I think the wait was well worth it. Better then never, Just got mine this last week from amazon.
