A ko company had actually made a ko oversized superion similarly to this defensor, jujiang jet commander. The quality is really good and still holds together incredibly well and has not yellow on my copy which is impressive considering on how long ago it had been made
Well, you made me want this. Main downside is that I just finished Legacy Menasor last week (Dead End didn't want to be on store shelves) so I'm definitely going to want an upscale of him as well.
I happened to get lucky the other day because I walked into Target looking for pants and they just suddenly had two of him just chilling there in the toy section
Same but also for breakdown. I decided to just get g2 dead end cuz i thought “fancy paint job is better than nothing deadend at all”. I dont have motormaster because its 100$ and im living with my parents at 18 sooooo yeah. I plan to get motormaster eventually. Legacy breakdown however is going to be impossible because hasbro is like “oh lets use the exact same mold but with slight port position changes and a spoiler and make it out of spare parts so no one can get their hands on it.” So, despite not even being a countach like he should, hes hard to find and really expensive like an actual 80s countach. Wtf? I WANT BREAKDOWN! “ITS MINE! GIVE IT TO ME!” - prime wars trilogy Devastator
I want to point out, the way that the whole thing had been redesigned is actually based on the C plus customs upgrade kit for combiner wars defensor, there was also one for Victorion so demon knight might possibly make her as well as superion since they seem to have the alpha bravo Head
Ratchets on the limb-bot legs are a godsend. Generation Selects combines suffers from this given they actually have guns! If they improve the Hot Spot mold further for Onslaught I would happily buy a Combaticon/Bruticus set.
The more I get these KOs, the more I prefer them over the originals. I recently got KO Sideswipe and it’s awesome af. I ended up ordering Red Alert, Hound, and then Hun-Grrr to finally complete the Terrorcons. I don’t like how tiny and underwhelming the transformers are these days. Not only does inflation jack up the prices, each size scale is half the size of their 90s counterparts, and the plastic feels cheap.
@@megatron2171 Especially Superion since he doesn't seem to be too far away! They slightly teased him after all in the latest Hasbro Pulse stream, by saying that they maybe bring more characters from the episode in which we saw Primes/Orions past, in which the Aerialbots time traveled. I am a bit afraid of the price again but for my favorite Autobot combiner, I am willing to spend it!
Recolours of completely different toys that aren't even the same body type that just bricks with no definition sold at £20+ the price of prime wars figures
I've been really debating getting these oversized kos, the only issue is I have legacy menasor and I am a huge scale nut so I want it to scale with him (with upgrade kit) and so far I haven't found anything other then a predaking that's 2 cm shorter but it still works
DK-01 Defensor, JuJiang Jet Commander (CW Superion), WeiJiang or Hasbro PoTP Predaking, Jinbao's KO Warbotron Bruticus, Jinbao's KO MMC Predaking and Jinbao's KO Generation Toy Gravity Builder (before upgrades) all stand around 45cm. Many hoped that these KO companies would continue this affordable scale since the 50cm MP ones from DX9 and Zeta are just so expensive. It's too bad nobody seems to be making the 45cm combiners anymore. Whoever oversizes and improves on Victorion and Computron would probably make a killing.
You should try out the jinbao warbotron bruticus. Its really solid and about the size of my black zarrak. you can find them around 80-140 depending on if they have the box. Highly recommend!
Combiner Wars was amazing for its time. Literally wave after wave of recognizable faces mixed with plenty of new ones. Those repaints on the other hand were just out of control. Still grinds my gears that the combiner limbs in the Liokaiser set suffered from mold fatigue despite a couple figures only being repainted 2 or 3 times compared to the Deadend mold
You should buy Weijang's KO Superion, its much like this combiner team where its a cheaper alternative that has more articulation and is titan class sized. Plus their vehicle modes are more accurate, definitly give it a look, its the only 3rd party figure i have and I HIGHLY recommend. I am a hasbro purist and it convinced me to buy it
frankly, even if it doesn't quite fit, I really hope that the sill upcoming Tidalwave is in the size of this thing. it's the perfect size to fit with the megatron once broken down in the DarkFleet, having it being bulkier in the waist area and bang, perfect and in the right wheightclass on more immediate point, you can definetivelly see that they cared more about the combiner and the single limbs figure rather than to hotspot, that's no joke. also, tiny little bay head
Okay Tfsafari is one of the main places to go for upgrade kits. The thing to note is ist's a over sized combiner wars version and upgrade C+ customs kit which made ofr a large combiner to begin with this scales upto MP scale combiner.
I actually have the *original* original Groove from Combiner Wars - he's a legend class figure that made a chest piece, even though I never got any of the rest of the set.
1:00 pretty interesting since in 2021 I got to order CW Devastator at 145 or 138 from Amazon for my Birthday present noticed his price went from that to 200 or 380 at times as of recent over there
I think hotspots legs are on the wrong sides, as the open hollow bots point outward, couldnt you simply rotate at the waist and swap the legs...it should fix him.
First timer here. Very entertaining....nice and honest review. PS. I'm ordering this now as a result of your review. It'll replace the spot currently occupied by the Ark, so nice to know we're on the same page there. :)
Axe makes some level of sense if first aid is a First responder, someone trapped, the axe can potentially help free them from the debris. Same concept as the jaws of life, something that can damage or cut through debris to get them to safety so they can be treated.
My experience with Combiners didn't really extend past Energon, and I got rid of those years ago. Since then Hasbro has thrown quite a few at are way in Combiner Wars however never really had any incentive to buy nor want any of them. I feel though I may have missed out on Legacy Menasaur as the line as a whole has been huge improvement/return to form from anything before I guess Siege/Earthrise.
the CW setup had a few good ideas, squandered by the absolute recycling of molds, and people did not like the new members the concept works for some of them, but it's really better to just go for the mix-n-match rather than the classic teams. and, no, before CW the most focused serie and combination was PCC, and that really wasn't on the ball; CW was the one real re-immagining of G1's scramble-city style combiner, for good and for bad
I've actually got four of the Wreck-Gar recolors for CW Groove, as well as the legends-class Wreck-Gar/Groove Recolor. Slapped 'em all onto PotP Inferno for a Junkion combiner, since the Legends Groove mold can attach to Defensor's chest. I've considered many times how I'd mod the Inferno mold to be more junkion-ish, but I'm sadly not confident enough in my skills to actually go through with it.
They do have oversized KO of the Arialbot. It came out before the Zeta combiner, its about the same size as Devastator. I think its called JuiJitso something something.
I still have all of my Combiner Wars and POTP combiners and I don’t plan on getting rid of them, even with the addition of Legacy Menasor to my collection. I still love having Unite Warriors Devastator and POTP Predaking with their DNA add-on kits.
I got into Transformers collecting with Combiner Wars, and I also only got First Aid (though that's because I arrived too late for Defensor). I'm sad that the best Ratchet toys we get are the ones where he's First Aid
The original CW Hot Spot wasn't terrible, but he wasn't the best. Solid enough for the combined mode. Plus, the torso could be made without any parts added on
I'm totally interested in this. I fell in love with some of the KO after I ordered Ultra Magnus and he was a full inch or two taller than the Siege version
ngl pretty sure the legs on hotspot all the way up them are still rigged to be rotated the other way considering the fact that thighs holow portion was facing the outside, also that ladder is not upside down as meny fire truks have rails along the ladder to allow firefighers to stand up and use it more like a ramp due to all thier baulky equipment making it harder to use a normal later
Pretty sure HasTak would state in the contracts the exact type of plastic they want used in the toys when they swapped factories . So personally I reckon they were just trying to save a few bucks by using a lesser product
Have you not messed with any modern KOs much? Because a lot of them are better quality than Hasbro. I just got the oversized KOs of Studio Series Ratchet and Ironhide from the Bumblebee movie and they’re pretty amazing. WAY better than the originals. Lots of extra paint apps and improvements to the mold.
Oh hey! I forgot this was the video where you mentioned the rubber feet things, those SAVED my OSKO Feral Rex. Also, your 3% off was more than $5 on my last order, it ain’t nothin
I just bpught a defensor from aliexpress for like 25 quid. Your defensor just looks better. You can see the details and stuff, the different way things move etc. The one I have is the same with the vehicles being wrong scale, that bike looks like it would be massive just like mine.
They have Hotspot and the Alpha Bravo head?? How about a set of Combaticons?? Alpha Bravo was literally a repaint (prepaint?) for Vortex. Hotspot was retooled into Onslaught. Beyond that, who knows...
I mean First Aid having an axe makes sense to me. He’s the pacifist and giving him a blaster isn’t something a pacifist would want. At least with an axe you can pretend he needs it to cut off the limbs of someone for extreme surgery and that’s my mindset imo
Or like chopping through debris to rescue somebody trapped in a disaster. One of the oddities of re-using/severely retooling the Offroad mold, I guess.
Thank you for making newer video on this combiner I can agree this one looks way better than orginal one, Any chance you can actually combine limbs from other ko combiners
the KOs got really good over the last years, I have a KO Bruticus on my list and I have two KO Devastators ,Studio Series and a small Legacytoys version
Defensor from yesmodel (KO upsized Guardia) is still the best Defensor out there IMO. Looks amazing, sturdy as hell, and scales great to the war for cybertron line.
I was able to get a complete combiner wars Abominus and Defensor for $50 Canadian each, off of the facebook marketplace (they were both official Hasbro figures)
I recently visited TF safari and other than getting a text from the fraud detection agency I have ordered a two pack of new age bee and cliff and an upgrade kit for galaxy convoy from the WFC trilogy which the character was a big influence that got me into transformers especially in america when prime is voiced by Garry chalk
It looks cool, but I don’t like that large sections of the torso and the head are made of parts that don’t do anything in either of Hot Spot’s individual modes. Makes it feel less like a true combiner
You may not see this but you should look into the Ju-Jiang Air Commander OS Superion for combiner wars. I have it and love it. It’s as big as Devastator
I will get flak for this, but I prefer the OG Combiner Wars look. Only add ons I use on mine are the PE feet (only the feet, I use the HFG for hands) and a 3d printed weapons set. I do wish Has/Tak comes up with a new Bruticus though, there's a big space in my collection with a RUINATION inscription all over it.
I have a question I’m just getting into collecting, got the jinbao devestator. (Seems he might be similar size) Do people just repaint their transformers, just wondering as I paint models a lot and was thinking of just doing that.
They KO'ed the Dreamwave CW kit, which had some odd retool parts for Hot Spot. IIRC, this kit would have you break the original bot to add those legs. Personally don't like the excessive parts added, and as you noted it makes the base bot derpy.
I feel like the one thing they could've changed, above all else with this version of Hot Spot, is to fix the slanting in the feet And then that'd be it, everything else would be just fine for me.
Have the og cw defensor that I picked up locally for about 60 bucks Needed dusting and streetwise had minor yellowing but it was my first hastak combiner so I didn't mind
I am new to the KO scene and looking to get these. Maybe, they would look great with my legacy menasor. Where can I get them? And the price point was 110?
Now, if some KO company can oversize Legacy Menasor that would be great! Given we have this, Jiu JIang Jet commander, straight up KO Predaking and even OS KO Jinbao Bruticus we are already solid.
May I ask who makes this defensor I'm looking to buy one and there's a bunch of different ones when I searched I just need the brand name so that i make sure I get the right one 👍
Good set and been on the fence for this one but leaning towards to YS Defensor which is roughly 50 bucks more, think he looks somewhat better than this one altho both look great regardless.
I got the YS Defensor, and it's paired with the original gravity builder. I'm considering this for the JB OS Gravity builder with the ver 2.0 upgrade, but It might still be too small for it.
“You’re a rescue combiner, you do not need double gat.” Maybe he’s a rescue combiner in Mogadishu.
Chicago.

Yep. I love my set. Silverbot is a more creme color than the others but it's still good
Ya I recommend it to a friend of mine and he loves it
He should also be the same size as this defensor
Been trying to find the jet commander set hard to find nowadays especially when it used to be $100 after checking

The final form has quite the presence I gotta say. That chest upgrade kit takes him from sad to chad.
Well, you made me want this. Main downside is that I just finished Legacy Menasor last week (Dead End didn't want to be on store shelves) so I'm definitely going to want an upscale of him as well.
Same here with Dead End. Never saw him stores and can’t find him anywhere online where I won’t be paying scalper prices
I happened to get lucky the other day because I walked into Target looking for pants and they just suddenly had two of him just chilling there in the toy section
I’ve upgraded all my combiners to bigger and better KO versions for better scale . legacy Menasor is way to small for me .

I like tiny bots. Easier to store, easier to fit in a camera frame, easier to scale next to massive titans, and better scale with Lego Minifigures.
