This is a comparison I had been wondering about for quite some time.
In this case I think there are some clear differences in that while the DD-7 darkens the delays with each repeat, it doesn't quite muddy up/mush together/ blend the low frequency repeats in the same way as the DM-2. I think the analog mode still gets "close enough" and given the added features of the DD-7 I think it would probably make more sense for the majority of users unless they absolutely NEEDED it to sound EXACTLY like a DM-2 for some reason.
In a full mix, nobody would notice or care probably.

The big thing I love about dd7 is the tap tempo feature... I had both for a while and dd7 is 90% there, the waza does sound better for sure though for this sound.. slightly. The waza in custom mode is a different thing though keep that in mind. Both great pedals. Dd7 is a refence pedal for me, I love it and have used it for years paired with a timeline. Recently put a dd200 on the board and it has some great sounds and features. Boss delays have a sound that no other company really matches. I love them especially for clear, rhythmic repeats.. dotted eighth is killer and bouncy. Timeline is always a bit washy and maybe more friendly but they both have a place. Dd7 really shines on reverse setting for monster pads too.

Yes, I’ve come to trust BOSS ultimately with all things delay. Aside from an “Enhancer”, I’ve never had a useless or bad BOSS pedal. I’ll still reach for other drives/fuzzes/reverb and modulation, but BOSS will always be my first go-to when it comes to delay.

I Agree, who uses oscullation in a live situation? At least for guitar is almost useless and non practical who is gonna go down to the pedal and mess with the controls while plays guitar standing.. In demos oscilation allways annoy me, time wasted
