The Boss DM-2W is a faithful reboot of the company's well-loved DM-2 analog delay. The DM-2W is part of Boss's Waza Craft series dedicated to bringing players meticulously-designed updates of existing pedals. "Waza" is the Japanese term for art and technique, which is a recurring theme in both sound and design. The DM-2W picks up where the original left off, with a rich fully-analog bucket brigade delay line that melts seamlessly into itself for warm, fat repeats. There are two modes on the DM-2W: standard mode, which is crafted with the original slapback-friendly 20-300 milliseconds of delay, and custom, which brightens up the repeats while offering between 40 and 800 milliseconds of analog repeats. The DM-2W is equipped with a direct out for parallel processing, and an expression pedal jack to the DM-2W that allows players to remotely control the rate of the repeats. Like all Boss pedals, the DM-2W is built for the rigors of the road in its time-tested stout form factor that professionals have relied upon for decades.

Dude, WTF. That cover of Eyes Without A Face was sick.
It really was!!!!
Andy Is the man!
Amazing!!!
Yeah its way awesome how he always plays so well
@@andrewstendahl36 He does a Clash cover that's sick as fuck too,
This summer I’m pleased to report that my DM-2W has officially signed a multi-year lease as a resident on my pedalboard! 🏠🎛🖌🔑🎉
Always on pedal.
I love how chaotic this thing can sound if you want it to, but also still capable of sounding warm, and subtle as well
I always found it refreshing that Andy demoed these pedals playing something other than blues licks, unlike every other dingleberry hocking music gear on UA-cam.
Damn, i love that analog fading-out sound. And what a unique tone is Andy letting us hear, always...
Hehe, I love how the pedal is "yeah whatever" and most are here to cheer for Andy, which rocks btw!
"Crazy Little Thing Called Love" just made my day Andy...thank you!
When I saw this last year I was sold on the pedal. one year later I'm still thinking it was definitely worth the buy
Yes! Andy! Your playing superb as always!
The custom mode sounds really cool on the dotted 8th note setting.
Never thought I'd hear an intro that outshines a top-of-the-line pedal.
Just bought one of these, can't wait to play with it. Great guitaring!
This pedal is amazing. Holds its own with a lot of boutique pedals costing way more.
Eyes Without A Face??? Every. Video. Is. Like. A. Personal. Playlist.
Have to give it to Andy, he cuts the bullshit and gets straight into fantastic playing on every demo... and always throws in some "Jaysus, I didn't realize that was such a good song" moments.
Sounds great. I’m looking forward to getting this pedal.
that sounded beautiful....loved it, andy!
Eyes Without a Face! Brilliant! Great pedal.
I want to be Andy when I grow up as a guitarist.
Nice job Andy!
This pedal is a jewel!
HOLY HELL☆☆☆☆☆ BEST COVER OF BILLY IDOL'S EYES WITHOUT A FACE☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ Kept me hanging on every roof throughout the review🤘🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥🔥❤❤❤❤❤❤ Great in- depth insight on such an influential pedal.
Nice! More waza craft please
Forgive me, Andy, for not hitting the thumbs up on every single video, but sometimes I'm too amazed
Going to have to get one of these because I have been unable to replace my original with any delay pedal that I love
one of my favorite songs.
just got this pedal. love it so much!
Eyes without a face. Usual good taste Andy. I fancy one of these, however with my board I need stereo ins and outs. Currently have Stereo Mistress into Dc2w into Dd7 into Rv6. Stereo all along. Analogue setting on Dd7 is good enough I think 🌴
Those pickups sound good.
nice touch with the slide - it sounded like a pedal steel guitar
It's like Built to Spill covering Billy Idol. : D
Ty Gerhardt haha i thougt it was disentegrate by flamin lips at 1st lol
That's what I thought, Eyes Without a Face, yet a got one to sound like Dave Gilmour 😂😂😜😜👍👍
The best cover of Crazy Little Thing Called Love I’ve ever heard
hey Andy! nice review!!!!
How can I get this pedal to make the trails continue when the delay is bypassed.... maybe an internal switch?
Hello ! Thanks for the video, very instructive. It has my ok positive. Could you know which guitar model is green? Not the Telecaster, the other. Thanks again
Is the self oscillation volume kept equal, or does it get louder while self oscillating?
Please, what's the maximum input level before clipping? Frequency range of the wet signal? The dual outs work only when it's on? Then is it true bypass? I'd love if it could be buffered for trails off...
This thing...called love...
Can we get something for the Seymour Duncan Vapor Trail?
yea that eyes without a face is amazing
One thing about this pedal , it's not stereo in . That's means you can't hook up the CE2 stereo into it to get all the lush sounds of that pedal. Normally you would put the delay pedal after the modulation so I think Boss have missed a trick here.
crazy little thing called love
Does tap tempo exist for this pedal ?
you're a beast andy.
Andrés Jácome l
I think Andy could sell water to a fish.
How is it versus Ibanez AD9?
That's a pretty cool version of walk on by!
Or maybe that's not walk on by. What tune is that at the beginning
Billy Idol - Eyes Without a Face
@@ProGuitarShopDemos Yes! That goes waaaay back. Thanks
What is the first guitar?
Anyone knows if this pedal sounds like a boss dm1?
ha, Billy Idol. Andy always plays something interesting.
haha what is the first riff? Sounds familiar...
Andy is my hero
Eyes without?Grrreat Demo,Dude.....
What's the name of the first song?
When do we see a CS-2w?
MUY BUENO.
only a matter of time for Boss to recreate the coveted CE-2
And it looks like they just did.
And it was about time!!
i had one of these pedals, i got it when i was like 6 my dad gave it to me, and this was of course before i knew about vintage, and how expensive pedals were, so being a curious 6 year old, i took it apart and ended up breaking it, probably my greatest regret
Daniel Springer if that's your greatest regret, then I'd say you're probably doing alright.
No blinding blue light special like the MXR.
Does anyone else get a high pitched sound that goes along with your delays when you have the rate set all the way counterclockwise? When I set it to 9 o’clock it goes away. The noise happens for both for both S and C modes.
I heard that in the one I tried as well. It's just the nature of BBD's. I didn't hear it so much in Custom mode.
Slide on Eyes Without a Face...... Artist.........Cool............Badass
eyes without a face, i cant fault this riff at all
Hi can you help me . Is it ok to take the batteries out my pedals and just use the mains with no battery in the pedal . Thanks for any help . ?
Yes, you don’t need to use the battery at all if you have a power supply.
Need a DD500 demo Andy!
Eyes Without A Fae from the masterpiece Rebel Yell. Steve Stevens on guitar.
Hi. What overdrive pedal are you using with this delay pedal? Thanks.
Blues Driver 0:35
"Eyes without a Face"....Good Choice :D
I would like to ask you fine folks at PGS a question. Where could i get my hands on a redtail guitar, generally where can you buy them?
Bartul Buzdovačić They are custom made by Andy's father, Greg Martin. You can email him at Redtail guitars!
The best part from 0:00 to 1:08 :D
I kept hoping you were going to break into Reel 10 by The Plugz from the Repo Man soundtrack. :)
Ty Gerhardt Good idea!
Love that song!
Steve Hufsteter is one of the most under appreciated guitarists on Earth.
EYES WITHOUT A FACE BILLY IDOL
Sounds a little like the 80's/90's band The Blue Aeroplanes- nice!
Yeah and kinda like an 80's band called Billy Idol.
spicecrop of course, the beginning is. I'm talking about about 4:55 in. A song called "...and stones" by the Blue Aeroplanes.
Juicy!
Next Boss CE 2W !!! please!
Hey Andy what pickup is on that tele?
Hey Adam, that Tele was a partcaster my dad (Redtail Guitars) put together in the early 2000s. Although unmarked, we think they were some old Bill Lawrence pickups. Thanks!
It has dotted 8ths? Goodbye Deluxe Memory Boy, hello Boss!
Gracias
What's the song with the dotted 8ths? Or is it just something Andy made up?
fullmetalfunk you mean the last one? Queen - Crazy little thing called love
JuiCeBoX19 Nah, the second to last one.
+fullmetalfunk sounds to me like a variation of "Big Sur Moon" by Buckethead.
Gerard Travis I'll check it out, thanks.
Gerard Travis are you sur?
I fuckin love andy
mans casually dropping an amazing eyes without a face cover in a pedal demo
Just a normal day ;)
Contemplate between this an dunlop echoplex ep103 hmm
Please, what is the green guitar?
Looks like an older variant of the Reverend Club King 290
@@stephanematis exactly is a reverend. Thanx
Would this be a good pedal if you're after an '80s U2 sound?
Yes but a Boss DD7 would be better with its modulation setting which instantly sounds like Joshua Tree era.
I'd say not really, tc flashback would be much better for that
A agree DD7 but TC and Waza are great pedals.
Memory Man would be better.
sold after 2 seconds
0:44 is he playing octaves there?
Yes, sounds great that way
what's the first song called? I can't recall its name
great demo btw, as always
Gerardo Díaz "Eyes Without a Face" by Billy Idol/ guitarist Steve Stevens (1983).
thank you!!
Whats the tele tuned to?
Good question! I think I just dropped the G to F# so I could play the major 7th chord with a slide. Maybe dropped the high e to d too. Try it!
Andy
@@ProGuitarShopDemos thanks Andy!
expression pedal without tap tempo??
It's analog.
I always have to think "which smiths song is this again" until i remember...
Was he playing "Eyes Without a Face"? lol
BILLY MY IDOL
It actually sounds really good, is it really worth it for the money though? I feel like there's so many pedals that can do this and more for the same price
Well, being able to send the delay repeats out and control where they occur in a mix as well as expression control of the distinct sound of a time manipulated analog delay are big bonuses. I've got some good analog delays that were alot cheaper but that don't have those two options and, those two options open up alot of variety and possibilities. I record in stereo using a mixer and sometimes you want those repeats hard left and the signal just right of center and you want to warp those repeats in the moment and none of my mono analogs can manage that. So, it all depends. Live mixing is alot of fun.
Cab it go 100% wet ?
Yes, if plug a cable into the Direct out (can be a dummy plug) you will hear 100% wet from the main Output. Great question,
Andy
Blue Aeroplanes part 🤌

BILLY IDOL
This one in the demo sounds great...like it should. The DM-2W I got doesn't sound like this one, nor like an analog delay should. Certainly not like an original DM-2 either. Mine has some weird static-like, almost digital bit crush overtones/noise going on in the repeat trails on longer delay times. Its really noticeable in the custom mode. I've heard complaints about the first batch of these Waza DM-2s having that issue. Anyone experienced this with their DM-2W?
No but you should absolutely return it.
My dm 2w has this weird thing where the knobs move on their own when I play. I end up having to readjust the settings mid song
🤘😈🤘
This pedal aside I gotta say that when you have the right amp any pedal can sound good. I'm a boutique guy but I bought a fender bass breaker and I have a DS1 kicking around so I plugged it in and it actually sounds good on the second channel. On the 1st channel (deluxe reverb side) it sounds tinny and like garbage but on the second channel it's great.
I want this pedal becauseI like simplicity and you can't get more simple than 3 knobs.
we are not worthy, Andy!
Andy is god
