Chris Stuckmann reviews The Walk, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ben Kingsley, Charlotte Le Bon, James Badge Dale. Directed by Robert Zemeckis. - Розваги
"i'm not gonna tell you what happens; i didn't know what happens"
"JGL worked with the guy who actually did this"
so we know he doesn't fail, thanks chris.
+DontFeedTheGaben Exactly what I was thinking.
+MattyFizzle04 that would be such a great plot twist, lol. Watch your words, rude comments are meaningless
+DontFeedTheGaben but you have to feed the Gaben!
+curtisgerdes Except that Chris specifically states how it won't contain heavy spoilers.
He probably did but he survive
Pff Tom Cruise would actually make that walk if he was chosen for the role xD
but the towers are destroyed
+Tom Aldridge he would rebuild them just to do it
Hell yeah he would
+John Stefanov He'd use his "black witch magic" to do so! lol
+John Stefanov Are you kidding?? It's Tom Cruise we're talking about. He wouldn't walk, he would run!
3:25 Great, now i know he'll live...^^
+Lord of Banana lol I know! And he said he wouldn't spoil it :(
Get off UA-cam, you baby.
+Lord of Banana And to think he was my favorite UA-camr just minutes ago...
***** Are you saying every movie where the main character dies at the end is not viable?
***** Or just movies that lead up to something great?
Wait, so Chris has seen Man on Wire but didn't know how the event turned out before he watched this?
+Maximusringrock I am guessing he watched it after seeing this movie
+Maximusringrock perhaps he saw man on the wire after watching this...
What doesn't make sense to me is how he said he won't spoil what happens if we don't know, but then 2 minutes later he tells you the outcome.
+MrMoviesandstuff that sounds pretty dumb.
+connor mccartney you're saying what I said sounds dumb?
You kind of inadvertently spoiled the movie by talking about how Joseph Gordon-Levitt trained with the guy who actually walked the wire.
Knowing a plot point you otherwise didn't know (which I didn't) about a movie isn't a spoiler according to you. It's not a big deal. I still enjoyed the review, but it was definitely a spoiler for me, as I didn't know if the guy survived.
+Harry Johnson of course it is a spoiler
And for the people who didn't even notice this spoiler.........thanks
Not really it's unlikely that in a film like this he's just going to splat on the floor
+Harry Johnson How is revealing whether a character who puts their life at risk lives or dies NOT a spoiler?
OK, WTF has been up with the faces Chris makes in his thumbnails. Usually I like to see his facial expressions in his thumbnails for movies like Mad Max: Fury Road or Fantastic 4 for example. But in this one, it looks like he just saw a ghost or Jesus Christ or like he just walked in on his parents having sex, etc.
That last one 😂😂😂😂
+MrOhyoursexi's #1 Fan: That last example dude. Anyways it does make sense. Chris said he has a thing with heights, and I by having acrophobia can totally understand his face in the thumbnail! X'D
+MrOhyoursexi's #1 Fan hahahah
That is probably the exact face you'd pull if you walked in on your mum and dad...
These thumbnails are getting kinda awkward ^^
Reuben Jackson
His expressions are so, I don't know...wrong :D
He probably took pictures of every emotion he could express in 30 min ^^
Ukulele Princess
He stares at something....something else ^^
iPermanently
What does that have to do with his personality ?!
you mean orgasm face..
+Andi X does this actually bother you?
I watched this movie on a trip, I really enjoyed it.
Like on drugs?
Like going somewhere or high?
Been waiting for this and Empire Strikes Back. Btw its October my doods. Time to get really fuckin sp00ky
It is fanny pack Friday my dudes
Know what's really interesting? I met this French actor a while back. He did some movies, none of them were big parts, mostly minor roles. But, he was telling me how directors, and producers were telling him that his French accent, wasn't French enough. Audiences wouldn't like the accent he used because it wasn't what they normally hear. Even though he was from France, and developed his accent naturally, he was forced to make another accent that sounded more French.
It just tells you how we shouldn't exactly criticize people for their accents, because we don't even know what it's supposed to sound like.
+VEN Productions petit has a strange french accent, you hear him talk and hear how levitt portrays him, it is actually accurate, he is a nut, literary a nut
UnbelievabIeMontages
I know...I both watched man on wire, and this review. I'm talking about the people complaining about how the accents aren't good enough.
*****
Never seen it...but I'm sure it wasn't that bad.
I think movies like The Pink Panther made it more difficult for English speaking french actors, because now there's this stereotype of what french accents sound like.
This is a famous event that happened 40 years, there was a documentary starring the guy several years ago, and books about it.. and people are still complaining about "spoilers" for saying he survives? The documentary was great... looking forward to seeing the movie, but doesn't sound like it will top the real thing.
Of course people complain about spoilers. Just the fact that it has happened 40 years ago does not mean that EVERYONE has to know about the outcome.
Hi Chris!
I live in India and have been watching your reviews for a few months. You are really knowledgeable and its fun to see you talk about movies. Thank you for your awesome reviews!
PS: I would love to see you talk about Sam Raimi's Spiderman films. Hope you see this!
+Jake You said it. I grew up with those movies and feel they are way better than the amazing series.
+Jake The are
+Jake Yup man. The drama and tension in those movies was awesome. And the action scenes looked better. In Amazing spiderman, the actions look too unreal.
+Shrayek Mathur Spider-Man 2 is one of my favorite movies.
"Stealing a moment in time" , goddammit that was beautiful.
October=Empire strikes back
November=Return of the jedi
December=Star Wars HOLIDAY SPECIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No excuses not too.
Or you know, maybe in December he'll review STAR WARS SEVEN
+Scooby Doge That is ridiculous. Obviously he is going to review the Star Wars Holiday Special.
+The Leaker
Nah, he'll review Attack of the Clones again for the lulz
Spoiler alert I guess the guy survived lol.
+DustingBread As soon as it was said, I scrolled down to this. lol
Yep, this movie just shows how he and his crew execute the plan.
I loved it. The thrill of the wire-walking sequences in IMAX 3D just can't be overstated enough. I also don't what some people are complaining about, but the first half is still a lot of fun. I think it's Gordon-Levitt's best performance honestly (he pulls off the French accent so convincingly and actually speaks smooth French for extended periods of time as well as subtly capturing their mannerisms. He infuses a lot of charisma and charm into this eccentric character, and the whole supporting cast only adds to the caper fun.
+Movie Muscle i think the reason why is that the script plays like a silly comedy at times and then it gets serious, the movie shifts different tones too many times, that it doesn't know what movie it is, but what intrigued me a lot about the first half was the directing choices zemeckis made with the camera, this wasn't just some typical or procedural narrated story, it made a lot of creative decisions and moves on how the film plays.
+Movie Muscle I liked it a fair bit, and I would say that it's probably the tone shifts more than the accent that could be a problem for some people. For me, the biggest issue was the way that they did the narration. I thought that was a real problem for pacing/taking me out of the movie. Still worth seeing in IMAX 3D, though! You're right to use the word "thrill"...
In my own opinion The Walk was freaking amazing. I understood his passion and loved the way it was portrayed. This movie was beautiful and every single scene had me entranced. When the movie was over for the first time I felt like a different person. i was inspired. And I still feel like every time I watch it. For me, only the most breathtaking, astonishing movies can have the affect.
This is my favourite movie of all time and I don't think that will change for a very long time.
Doesn't want to do spoilers, does them anyway by saying that Joseph Gordon Lewitt worked with the actual guy who did the stunt back in the day.
MattyFizzle04
No reason to be offensive, I did not even care much, I just pointed it out because I tought it was kinda funny.
+MattyFizzle04 You must be on your period, this is the third person ive seen you bitch out like this.
Great Review Chris. I'm really looking forward to this movie!
Great review Chris, I can't wait to see this film since it's an immersive thrilling experience
Since this month is October, will you please review all 3 of the Back To The Future movies(in separate videos).
The heist is "stealing a moment in time". I love how you put that.
I gotta be honest, I stopped listening to music on UA-cam and listen to your videos in the background instead. Love your reviews mate, so damn accurate
Hey, Chris! Any chance you could do a review of Fargo? I'm curious to hear your impressions.
"oh hey guys im not going to spoil it and tell you what happens..."
"...so yeah joseph gordon levitt actually worked with the real life guy"
thanks chris.
He did not spoil it. we know the guy is alive since he was in a documentary you noob.
stuckman your reviews are on point and i subscribed :D
This movie is so underrated, more people should know his story. So inspiring, and the incredibly emotional ending leaves you sad. Missing the monument we once had, but also the amazing impact they had on the world. If you haven't already, see this movie!
Yo Chris I got a question for you, when you do a review and someone like Jeremy j reviews the same movie first do you wait till after you do ur review to see his or does watching his not effect how urs comes out. cuz for the most part it seams like u can do a review on the same movie and have it be totally ur own, which is koo , I was just thinking it would be tuff to see his and not hit on the same points you no. I sub to bolth you guys and I like seeing the diff perspectives
The documentary is incredible
Loved your review as always
Chris we all love your shirts where do you get them? That princess mononke shirt is such badassarey
Hey Chris, if you're doing the Halloween special this year check out The Changeling (1980) and The Private Eyes. Both older and overlooked films.
I loved this movie once I got to see it. I would love to see it 3D now! Hope they bring it back!
Hello Chris I have said this before but I just wanna fangirl right now and say I am such a huge fan of yours thanks so much for all your AMAZING VIDEOS YOU TRULY GET FILM AND FILM GEEKS ALIKE THANK YOU... Nice review and Awesome T-shirt!
I hope we get a review for legend
+Aidan Sim
That film has been pushed back to November. We won't be seeing that review for another month.
Or, at least, it's been pushed back in America.
They need to sell the man on the wire back to marvel!!!!!!
Does anyone know where Chris gets his posters he shows for the movie? Because I cant find anywhere ones like his that dont have the credits on them.
I spoiled the historical ending of "Titanic" to a couple of clueless teen girls, back when it was first release. They were pissed. I was baffled.
I've seen "Man on Wire" and loved Philippe Petit's passion. I'm so looking forward to seeing this for both JGL's acting and for nostalgia in seeing the World Trade Center restored.
Chris! Highly recommend you watch the docu-drama version of this story from 2008 called 'Man on a Wire' - interesting to contrast it with this movie, but well worth your time watching if you have the time
Hey Chris, do you take requests? I'd love to see you review V for Vendetta.
_Man on Wire_ is one of the best documentaries I've ever seen, it well and truly surpasses this movie adaptation, and is incredibly interesting. It would be nice to see you review that in retrospect Chris, if you have time!
4:00 I feel the same way Chris. Just looking at the trailer made me hold onto my seat. XD
Hey Stuckmann when you are making these videos do you look at the camera lense or are you having a screen on you , are you watching yourself while filming ? Over the past month I’ve watched all your videos , your great at what you do.
Great review Chris, can't wait to see the walkk
Same thing happened to me with Phillip Seymour Hoffman and his voice in Capote, you get over it after about 20 min.
always love me some joseph gordon levitt, amazing actor!!! thanks chris
I went to see this film today in Imax 3D and I love it. The film to me was a great experience to watch, I'm not a big fan of heights and I did go 'HOLY SH-" when he was walking on the wire. There are a couple of problems in the first part but the second part I really enjoyed and I felt intense. Overall thanks for the review Chris, can;t wait for Empire strikes back and keep up with the good work.
I absolutely Loved the documentary 'Man on Wire' and have actually avoided seeing this film because I read a different review saying it wasn't that great. I've only watched a couple of these reviews, but so far, I feel like I can trust the input here. Looking forward to seeing this movie now.
I'm glad that Joseph Gordon-Levitt keeps getting movie roles.
I've always liked the guy. (Ever since his "3rd Rock from the Sun" days)
Chris, I happened to notice that your Mad Max, Road Warrior & Thunderdome blu-rays are right next to your Magnolia blu-ray. Don't tell me you haven't picked up Fury Road yet...but I'm assuming u currently have it in a different area
hey Chris this is an awesome review but I'm curious how is The Phantom Pain going?
when are you gonna put up a blu-ray collection video?
That thumbnail dough, caught me off guard with a good review.
Great review as always Chris. I've been Stuckmannized!!!
Great review as always.
Could you do Everest? I watched it yesterday and loved it
I liked this movie. Plenty of suspenseful scenes. It just tried a little too hard to be inspiring in the way that the documentary was. I had no problem with Gordon-Levitt's accent; he's a good actor and his frenchness wasn't distracting at all. But what was really distracting for me was his fake blue eyes. Who made that call?! They're painfully obvious as colored contacts. My only other main complaint is that the brown antique case that Papa Rudy gives him is never explained properly. Yet it shows up three times throughout the movie. If it's that significant, at least tell the audience what it is. (It's an antique measuring tape handed down from Papa Rudy's grandfather used for rigging the wires.)
Totally with you on the heights thing. The climactic scene in this movie and the Burj Kalifa scene in MI-Ghost Protocol both nearly gave me a heart attack. Even now thinking about those scenes makes my jaw involuntarily clench with anxiety.
I must admit I got slight vertigo on watching this film a few years back. I often have dreams where I'm at the top of a building like the world trade center and I feel vertigo then too.
Hey Chris. Will you do a review of Mr. Holmes movie?
Chris says at the beginning how he doesn't want to spoil the movie, yet he spoils it later in the review by saying 'If you've seen the documentary Man on Wire... with the ACTUAL man', which implies that the man survived the ordeal.
Not everyone knows the true story though.
he didn't wanna tell us what happens to him on the wire, but then later tells us the actor worked with the actual man for this movie lmao
MattyFizzle04 I'm not mad, I found it funny. IDC that he did, you gotta chill, b
Nice Princess Mononoke T-Shirt (It's one of my favorite movie of all time ) ! Where did you get it ? As always, an excellent review !
I remember when this event was a little kids' story my classes and i were read to in school about!
Love ur shirt Chris! ❤️💙💚🐕
Chris, could you please review Everest?
How's the MGS V review going?!
Despite Joseph Gordon-Levitts abysmal French accent - purely down to the final wirewalking sequence this was my favourite movie of the year... i had a feeling of genuine vertigo watching him walking on that wire... utterly thrilling....
Chris Can you please review "A Separation" it's a film that i really love and is an inspiration to me since I'm a Persian filmmaker and i would really appreciate it if you would post a review.
Keep up the great work Chris!:)
Still waiting for the Blu-ray collection vid.
Hell yeah
Hey Chris, I just saw a movie called "Cold in July" and I went to check if you did a review for that movie and you didn't o: I was wondering if you can do a review for that movie please.
I love the Princess Monenoke shirt!
He just spoiled it . . . talking about how Levitt worked with the real guy . . .
+MattyFizzle04 No chill, Savage
+MattyFizzle04 Lmao
+MattyFizzle04 you are worthy of the Nobel Peace price
+MattyFizzle04 I'm not even Mexican, I just have a Taco fetish (つ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)つ
+Jack Morris it was based on real life events that have been in public knowledge for 40 years, what's to spoil
dude where did you get that shirt it's awesome
Chris, please review attack on Titan. Sure, it's crazy popular right now and considered to be "mainstream" anime, but that's why it would be awesome to have your review of the series.
Very cool Princess Mononoke t-shirt, Chris... Where'd you get it from?
Hi big time fan here, I just want to say that your work is really good, you are not someone who just watch the movie and says: it sucks. Feels like you are just a regular guy giving his opinion on movies. :)
I saw this today. I enjoyed it more than The Martian. Both are great movies. But The Walk was so much more than just an Imax 3D spectacle than I thought it was going to be. JGL's acting was top notch (too bad he will get ignored due to the bad timing of this movie with The Martian in the same week). The story has alot of heart and excitement. The final act was a huge pay-off, much more than I expected or ever knew that actually happened. I left the theater with a big smile.
We NEED a new background tour!!!!
The first half of the movie was great. It shows how he learned from the amazing actor Ben Kingsley and how he met his wife and the crew.I wasn't bored in the least with it.
His passion was simple to understand and extremely relatable....because a lot of people have their own passion, and know what its like to have a passion, even if its not the exact same as someone else's.
Great review as usual
Chris, in two weeks a Netflix original movie called Beasts of No Nation will be coming out. It's directed by Cary Fukunaga of True Detective Season 1 and stars Idris Elba. If you see it, I'm sure it'll be one of your best films of the year.
Great review man.. I hope you will review Legend.. I'll like to know your point of view whit that movie.. Sorry my bad english
Are you ever going to do a review of the Back To The Future trilogy? You know, because the 30th anniversary is coming out soon?
When are you uploading your empire strikes back review?
2:31 I'm french, nice accent :) 3:49 Nice Elephant accent
I watch Jeremy, the Scmoes, but at the end I always come here to decide if I watch a movie or don't.
I have to see it in 3D, Remember while back in theaters the trailer was in 3D and oh man. really wanna see this movie. great review
for years I've heard that starship troopers is supposed to be some deep misunderstood movie. any chance you can do a special on that?
Chris I love your videos so much
princess mononoke is my favorite cartoon of all time :') nice t-shirt
I have issues with heights too (like when I watch Man On Wire) and I haven't seen all of The Walk but the trailer alone gave me vertigo.
There is a documentary about this event and the man behind it. It's called "Man on Wire". I think it won the academy award for best documentary feature.
I love this film.I was on the edge of my seat everytime he walked back and forth.
I recently realized after watching the Walk, that Zemeckis is a special effects genius/pioneer. BttF2, Forest Gump, Who framed Roger rabbit, hell, even a xmas carol. Him and his team really help push "hollywood" forward in their quality output.
Love the Princess Mononoke Shirt.
I'm guessing you didn't see this in 3D then eh?
Great review, i haven't seen this one yet but looks interesting.
