My eyes were scanning the backgrounds nonstop in this movie. Big props to the cinematography where door frames, windows, and hallways were always looming in the background.
@@tylerb.1008 I only seen the devil figure once myself, but I have heard many people say that he is in the movie in many more scenes. Can you give some hints as to where you seen the figure so I can look for him the next time I watch this movie? I have mixed feelings about this film, but I have not been able to stop thinking about it either. I want to know this films secrets.
Yep that got me so good. Just constant unsettling!!
@@odoaceroftheneoromanempire7178My friend whispered to me that she saw it halfway through the film in her mother's house but I only saw it during the "exposition dump", probably the same place you saw it.

first harker house scene, library scene, shot with longlegs reading.
@@BonJoviBeatlesLedZep That is when I seen it too, but it was pretty obvious though... Apparently "he" is hidden in the background of many scenes in this movie. "The man downstairs" is the best at hide and seek.
"Fuck that door frame" is such a real horror movie experience LOL
Nothing surprising ever happened with a door frame lol
It's so true! I kept getting distracted by staring at both the door frame and the other side because I just knew something was going to pop up.

That doorframe was on point. I was anticipating something coming out. but nope. You're always on your toes. What an experience.😄
@@Siva_avis1 because the evil was INSIDE the door 😈
That door frame shot was awesome. At one point someone dropped something in the theatre and everyone just gasped and then laughed. The fear was palpable.

The color and lighting was so stark and gorgeous. I felt my skin crawl with the shots in Harker's house. There was something in the lighting and the coloring that just made her house seem both cavernous and claustrophobic at the same time.
This movie was incredible.
Maybe if they relied on more than colors and lighting the movie would be better lol seriously some film snobs all it takes for them is some color and lighting and they’re sold just like that lol when the movie itself wasn’t very good
@@cjames1770 Who peed in your cheerios? Someone else liked it and you didn't, big deal. If you insist that your POV is the right one, then you are one who is being the snob. Have you ever just considered not being a dick?
oh my god the house shots were absolutely terrifying
Colors and lightning are a huge part of a film's atmosphere. They are important. Of course if the movie is otherwise without substance, visual gorgeous-ness is not enough. But if the plot, acting and overall quality are good, lightning and visual style enhance the experience.
If only the story was any good.
Feeling threatened while walking through the horror section of a video store was such an amazing experience. Incredible box art! I’ll never forgot the fear.
HUGE CONGRATS TO YOU CHRIS ON THE PREMIER!!! That such SUCH a huge accomplishment and I couldn't be more proud as someone who's been watching since the beginning. Wish I could attend :(

The advertising of this movie was pure genius. And i never got so hyped for a horror movie.
Ultimately it let me down. This movie was more of a horror comedy with graphic violence. Not remotely scary or even suspenseful IMO
@123rockfan you talking about the same movie?
@@taylorransen7401 Nicholas cage’s performance was very comedic. Also, a lot of the dialogue was unintentionally funny
@@123rockfanTo be fair, I love how divisive this movie is because with horror movies it’s almost always a good thing. Everyone is already debating this movie. The Witch, It Follows, The Babadook, Hereditary, and The Lighthouse are among the greatest horror movies of the 2010s and they were all divisive.
@@123rockfan not suspenseful?? The whole movie is suspenseful
Holy shit! I immediately thought of Cure as well! The dream-like feel, the oppressive sense of atmosphere and the disorientation and paranoia it can cause...there are also wide angle shots where the characters feel far away or just out of reach and you're looking all over the screen anticipating something to appear and sometimes it does, and other times it doesn't, but you're always questioning what you might've just seen. Keeps you on your toes and feels so intense. Definitely my kind of horror!
I loved the cinematography of this movie. It added so much to the suspense and foreboding atmosphere of the film. I too was scanning the background constantly expecting to see something. Sometimes you would and sometimes you wouldn’t and you’d never expect it. That kept me on edge the entire time. And when Perkins decided to do a bit of a jump scare they weren’t cheap or overused. They were perfectly timed in a place you least expected it. All of them got me!
Here’s my advice, guys: go in with no expectations and let the movie unfold. Take it in, enjoy it. Let Perkins and Cage hypnotize you. It’s so soothing.
Havent seen any trailer. All I know is that my boy Nic Cage is in it abd tgat he plays a serial killer
For the first half then down hill imo
@@davidsantacarla that’s what I’ve been saying! I saw no trailers. Had no hopes. Turned out I absolutely loved it. No complaints.
i very much second this. i came in with extremely high expectations due to the prior feedback and reviews i had seen and came out a little underwhelmed. still an amazing movie that should stand as a pinnacle in horror history
By virtue of watching a review from stuckmann no less - I think we've passed "no expectations" lol
The marketing team needs to be commended
Exactly because they tricked the fuck out of us
Longlegs had one of the best trailers I've ever seen. Creepy af but gave absolutely nothing away about the movie.
@@THEEVANTHETOON there was nothing to give away... lol
@@KillteeLennyright on the money 😂
The best part of the movie was the trailer, everything else was mid.
I watched this film at 11am today in a COMPLETELY empty theater. I even walked up and down all the aisles to confirm.
I kept hearing rustling around me, and I would get freaked out because I was supposed to be the only one there! Turns out, it was the impeccable sound design. Freaked me the heck out, man.
What a fantastic experience. Probably my best theater experience to date.
I kept wondering if someone had snuck in without me realizing. This real life paranoia was something I hadn’t experienced before.
@@ImmaculateOtter I can't tell if it was actually there, but I was sitting with my mom next to me and on my right, at the beginning of the film, I heard this really weird af breathing, and I thought it was her and I couldn't really see if it was her, but it felt like right in my ear and it shook me

People will talk about Nic Cage, but let's be fully clear... this is the Maika Monroe show!
I was completely captivated from start to finish. It's one of the creepiest movies I've seen in years.
Her character was was so mid
she was very good in it, I love her in IT Follows too
I don't know, I feel like she was equally miscast here as she was in the horrible Independence Day sequel.
@@invadermarkbFrom what ik it follows will have a sequel
Eh, her character was boring and her acting range didn’t really extend from just being 😐 for the whole movie. Even hen she cried she just seemed completely bored for acting in the movie. Similar to myself in the theater.
This movie was 10/10 fkn weird as hell. Silent theater. Couldn’t hear a breath. It was fkn incredible and super original. Nick Cage performance deserves a damn award!
It felt artificially weird to me. Not that much substance
Was it weird like Mandy or was this actually good?
@@mgkaotic This movie is hella weird. But in a good way. A chilling and suspenseful way. If you like slower paced builds you’ll love it. If not, it may not be your cup of tea. It feels very real. Like an in depth serial killer hunt that turned into a true crime documentary.
@@mgkaotic it’s definitely weird in the Mandy way. Nicholas Cage is hilarious and over the top. Like an SNL skit. Its not scary IMO. Apparently I’m in the minority though
How much gore is it? I'm not in the mood to see blood and guts.
You described the VHS fear so accurately. I actually looked up when Shelby Oaks is being released right as your video began. So awesome that it's being released after all you've put into it! My theater was also packed and you could hear everyone trying not to chew too loudly. Coolest theater experience yet.
Chris. I'm really excited for everything coming your way man. I've been following you for ever and I'm so ready to see your film!
RIP Jonathan Demme. I’m sure he is up there in movie director heaven bragging to all his colleagues that every well received serial killer movie will be judged against The Silence of the Lambs until the end of time.
Se7en as well
Zodiac too
@@notmyrealpseudonym6702 Good call. Se7evn is a phenomenal serial killer movie. and the screenplay is just perfect. It definitely deserves to be on the top ten list. But Silence of the Lambs introduced the world to Hannibal Lector, one of the greatest villains of all time. John Doe was devious and scary but I didn't think he was going to eat my face off. There have been several kick ass portrayals of Hannibal over the years, but nobody elevated that role better than Anthony Hopkins. His performance left a permanent stain on our national pysche, so wide and so dark that this fictional man, along with this fictional name have become synonymous with real life depravity. "It was a scene so horrifying that even Hannibal Lector would blush." Everyone knows what that means. If Silence of the Lambs sets the bar for serial killer films, which movie sets the bar for ghosts and the like? Poltergeist? That clown scared the shit out of me.
@@ericsong5155 Zodiac is so great.
Silence of the Lambs is my favorite. I’m he won an Oscar award for his work.
That advertising for this movie was nothing but genius truly
Yeah the advertising was great so what a let down!!
I loved it... until I watched the film. Now, I'll go as far as calling it false advertising. The most iconic element of the trailer, the weird-ass noise that the bad guy is supposed to make, is nowhere to be found in the film.
i agree the trailer made the movie 10x scarier lol...but the film was still good
Pls manage your expectations before going in.
Is this the scariest movie you'll ever see? No
Is this the best horror movie ever?No
Is this a classic in the making? Yes
Is this a flawed masterpiece? Yes
This movie Is one of the most immersive , atmospheric , creepy and unsettling movies I've ever seen with glorious performances, precise meticulous cinematography and an exceptionally crafted soundscape.
Where it somewhat falters Is in it's delivery of the main plot
That being said this is the kind of movie that pulls you in and doesn't let you go till the credits roll.
this is a fantastic review and basically reflects my opinion of the movie
I just didn’t like the ending. I thought it was near perfect until that ending
@@dantemariscal8679 yeah i agree
The plot is the least interesting part of the movie, that much is true but trust me the ending is ACTUALLY really good, in that sense that you won't be entirely able to figure it out. Which was the only way to handle
I agree. My main issue with long legs is that they had to practically dump the entirety of what was going on in a section of dialogue. I would have NEVER understood what actually drove the things happening in this story if they did not outright tell me. I couldn't even begin to imply it by just the things I was shown. It's easy to guess up to a certain point, but after the basic stuff you are absolutely clueless.
Actually, in addition to that the whole doll thing was sooo out of nowhere. They could have introduced it, made reference to it, done literally anything earlier. It felt disjointed and kinda odd to go that path in the middle/end of the story.
Amazing movie. Sticks with you for days. Good luck with your movie premiere man! Can’t wait to see it
I know EXACTLY the fear of just walking by a VHS tape at the video store! The Horror section always gave me chills.
Can’t wait to see this film!
I went to a VHS rental store like Panos Cosmatos and a lot of other people did, I guess, when I was younger and the VHS-covers of the horror-section fascinated me endlessly. I imagined how the plot could be and was in awe, how these kind of realistic, creepy and disgusting effects are even possible. Later I saw most of these films, but those visits really spurred my imagination. 😊
Same here! As a kid in the 80s, I was way too scared to watch anything from the horror section but I was deeply fascinated by all the covers (and the cardboard stands!).
you must be ancient af !!!!!
@@FranklinHicks-qs4gs Just 41... that's not very young anymore but not very old either. :D
A group of teenage girls sat directly next to me in the theater and clearly thought this was going to be a "insidious" style horror movie. They talked the ENTIRE time and were so woefully confused I almost felt bad.
why is it always the teenage girl that destroys our watching experience bruh
I hope that you told them to be quiet
Insidious really did ruin the horror genre
Ohhhh I would’ve offed myself ngl 😭
You felt bad? The ruined the experience for everybody around them and you felt bad? I would have dumped my drink on them (not really, but you know)
It was good but honestly it felt like it didn’t execute a finale as good as it could’ve been. Everything was 10/10 until it ends and then it feels as if it was end too soon; like there was much more horror that could’ve been achieved so a little bit disappointing in that sense. A good example I can give is the hereditary movie. The film develops and unfolds and it escalates more and more and the it reaches its absolute peak and it leaves you feeling a satisfying sense of overwhelm shocked and fear. This movie long legs was on the right track similar to that recipe of hereditary but it ended before it could’ve been at it’s peak. It’s a film that unfortunately doesn’t reach that peak. Aside from that critic it was very well filmed and beautiful and I really loved it, loved it so much that I’m disappointed it didn’t reach further
Hereditary stuck the landing. This film crapped the bed.
Like, I’m super excited for this movie. And I’m so glad you had such a glowing review. At this point, I trust two reviewers on the internet. You and Jeremy Jahns (I hope there’s no beef there, I love you both). But I cannot fucking WAIT for Shelby Oaks.
I’m so, so pumped to see what your directorial debut. And after watch for years, I can’t say I’ve seen someone who deserves it more. Your love of film is so goddamn evident that it borders on nauseating. In the best way possible. Congrats, Mr. Stuckmann.

How to combat hype: If it looks good, give it a shot. If anyone says, "Beware of hype", consider the source. They may not have the same taste as you. And, with any entertainment at any point in your life, nothing is automatic.
Absolutely true. After hyping myself up to see this film for a month, expecting it to be life-changing, it actually being “great” felt disappointing by comparison.
Way over hyped. All these youtubers .......smh.
You make a very good point about "hype." If the marketing was not as good as it was, and if the critic reviews were not as overblown as they were, would people have liked the movie more? I think so... I myself became entranced by the trailers and critic reviews, and then seen the movie and left with very conflicting views on it. I think it is well crafted, well shot, and a very good slow burn for about 70 minutes, but the last 25 minutes of the "payoff" to the slow burn is not really worth it. It might benefit from multiple viewings, but not many will have the patience to see it again... I loved the way the movie was shot though, and will see it again simply because of that and to see if there is anything I missed.
thank you so much for saying this! This is EXACTLY how I feel!!! It had a very underwhelming “pay off” as well and if it hadn’t been so over hyped you’re right I might have actually liked it more
It’s gotta jus be the suspense a1 but felt let down from such a weak climax at the end like come on we saw that coming from a mile away and it wasn’t even that scary
genuinely have no words for this. it’s art, it reminded me as to why i love horror. didn’t rely on cheap jump scares and just relied on being unsettling. the actors all did incredible and though the formula seemed familiar, the product was perfect

I think some people will be taken out of the film by Cage's performance, but I do agree with you that it is accurate... He may seem over the top, but I think it is a good portrayal of someone who has completely lost their mind and cannot relate to other humans any longer. The scene in the store with the girl hits hard because it is something I walk by everyday on the way to work. Just a completely lost and insane soul. I was not creeped out by him in that scene... I really loved the way they pulled off an extremely suspenseful and stressful atmosphere. The cinematography, lighting, sound design, set design, and cage’s acting were fantastic. My only two critiques of the movie are one: i wished they leaned a little farther away from all of the supernatural stuff, and just made it a legit crazy guy who’s really persuasive or knows hypnosis two: i wish they made the ending tie things together a bit more, and maybe given it a little bit more time to finish

Thank you so much for the spoiler-free review! I usually keep myself as much in the dark as possible before seeing a new movie (especially by a filmmaker I like; Osgood Perkins has been on my radar since The Blackcoat's Daughter), but Longlegs has me so hyped that I decided to watch your review. I found it most interesting that you say it has parallels to Cure, as that's one of my favorite horror films ever and it has such a uniquely surreal & suffocating atmosphere and aesthetic. Judging from the trailers, I was expecting comparisons to films like Seven and Silence Of The Lambs, but Cure came so out of left field that, coupled with your enthusiasm for this film, has my interest in it even more piqued. I usually go to matinees to save money, but this is one I definitely want to see at night.
I just want to say that Chris has evolved over the years and I've loved every part of this journey for him. I am, have always been, always will be a fan. I trust his opinions and I honestly think he is brilliant.

Will Shelby oaks be available in Australia?
Our little cinema in New Zealand was sold out for this last night - the movie has a very limited release and its the busiest its been since Barbenheimer. Fantastic that this movie is winning audiences over so much.
Here’s the thing though, it’s not lol lotta people are going based purely on the marketing but the audience score to this point is only 65 percent which isn’t high . I saw it today and I personally wasn’t in any way impressed by it, nobody in the theater seemed to be impressed by it and I wouldn’t be surprised if it has a big dip in their second week. The success they’re having now is based on marketing, this is not a movie that’s going to appeal to a general audience

Hi Chris! I'm a huge fan of your work and been watching your videos for quite some time on UA-cam! I can't wait to go watch your new movie at Fantasia!!!! :D Congrats!!
I just watched Longlegs tonight and I absolutely loved the film. The theatre here was also packed and everyone had out loud reactions to certain parts of the film. On my way to my car afterwards there were groups of people standing in the parking lot talking about it and it made me feel excited. Excited that maybe cinema is coming back... maybe people are getting excited about watching films in theatres again. It was truely a perfect cinema-going experience and I felt nostalgia to when I was younger in the 90's and early 00's when everyone went to the theatre nearly every weekend. Also I wish I could travel from my home in Nova Scotia to Montreal to attend Fantasia next weekend but I cant :(
It wasn't ''A Scariest film of the Decade'', But it was definitely an interesting watch, I would definitely recommend it to people who are more into crime/thriller genre, because this is definitely not a horror film. It has horror elements but it wasn't a full blown horror movie from start to finish. There was some unsettling and creepy parts but I never felt truly scared. Nic Cage and Maika Monroe were both great, the actress who plays Lee's mother in the film was fantastic, she was absolutely creepy. But it definitely a type of movie that you need to see twice, it demands that. So I am definitely going to be seeing again but this time alone at home. I just came out of the screening couple of minutes ago, so the movie is very fresh in my mind but I just... I don't know, I need to sit with this movie for a bit and think how I feel about it, because there were stuff I really, really liked and then there were some other stuff that I would put under a question mark. That's why I think it necessary to see it twice. I can say that I think this film should have been either longer or a mini-series, a 1 hour 40 minute runtime is not enough to tell such a story I feel like, there is quite a lot that is left to viewer's imagination, a very ambiguous ending. I don't hate the ending but I do wish we got a conclusion, it felt like we will be getting Longlegs 2 or something... but either way, I can't decide fully on how I feel about this film, I will say I did like it more than I did not like it, but I don't want to go in the details because I am not 100% sure if even the things I did not like I truly don't like you know? But it definitely was an experience that I overall enjoyed but at the same let down by few things, I did feel like it needed to be longer at the very least and the jumpscares were weak... absolutely weak to me. But I will still recommend for anybody to go check it out for yourself, especially like I said before if you are fan of these type of movies (Silence of the Lambs, Seven or Zodiac) then this could be a good time for you. I will say this, this film is definitely also not on par with Silence of the Lambs or Seven in terms of filmmaking, storytelling and etc etc... It definitely pays homage to those films but at the same time brings an interesting unique twist to the movie which I did really like. So yeah, go check it out. I feel like this movie is going to be very divisive, some people will love it some people will like it and some will straight out hate it, it definitely a more of A24 type movie. Also, Nic Cage's performance was definitely something... I did not know how to approach his character... but eventually he did get under my skin but I can see some people straight out laugh at this character because of how ridiculous he is in this. Even I smiled couple of times because Nic Cage was having a lot of fun in this one, oh my oh my... He was chewing every scene, the interrogation scene definitely is going to be a memorable scene from the movie. Gosh, I went on a huge rant.. I need to chill, but at the moment it very hard for me to rate this, I need to wait a bit until I can truly comprehend what I just saw. Oh, I forgot... the sound design and cinematography is chef's kiss.
I agree. I wanted to be so scared and I was but probably anticipating stuff that didnt happen. It was very vey creepy and the sound made me jump more than the imagery. I found the satanic plot to use others to do stuff with a doll a little overly complex but maybe that's just me. Dolls are so overused in horror or whatever this was and it detracted for me. Cage was enough
question, will there be any other way to view/watch Shelby oaks? Very excited and happy for your movie!

I saw this movie last night and LOVED it, definitely lived up to the hype for me personally. One of the most enjoyable hour and 45 minutes in a theater I’ve ever had
Wow, I just realized the movie is kinda short
@@TommyDay-kq1jjik it felt super long for me but in a good way, extremely well paced
This movie better get nominated for best cinematography, incredibly shot!
Literally my FAVORITE thing about LongLegs. Man that cinematography was superb 🤌🏽
Agreed
Congratulations on Shelby Oaks! I only actually heard about this recently but I was like, “Oh, Neon, that’s a good sign, Longlegs just came out,” and then, “Holy shit, Mike Flanagan?? Why haven’t the night fires been lit?!” and lastly, “Chris Stuckman. Who the fuck is Chris Stuckman?” XD Congrats again, look forward to hearing more.
Loved this one too! There's a transition in it that goes from a medium-close shot of Maika Monroe to an exterior shot, with a dead tree right where she is on screen so it looks like her circulatory system is coming into view; fucking loved that transition.
I LOVED how there was a touch of HBO and Stephen King’s The Outsider with a certain character. Nick Cage was absolutely brilliant, and I’m actually afraid of him now😂😂 The sound design, INSANE!! ❤❤ Easily the BEST horror film of the year, hands down. 🎉🎉
I know exactly what character from The Outsider you’re talking about too. 😉
@@glamdawling 😂 😉
I walked out with the biggest smile on my face. This is why I love movies. I f*cking loved this movie. Cage deserves an Oscar nom in my opinion.
Especially for his singing 🎶 😅
Youre easily impressed
@@ironbran12 you say that as if it’s a bad thing.
@@royjones8312 you say that as if it's good
@@ironbran12 why would it not be? I love everything.
Congratulations on your movie! Backed you on KS and am looking forward to finally getting to see it! Woohoo! 😃
“Step in front of the moving train” I GET THAT REFERENCE CHRIS
I was waiting for your review! Anytime Chris has a great respect for the film, you know it’s going to be good.
This Film has a 7,7 on IMDB....Makes this one a must see on my list!!!
Don’t waste your money going to the theater
@@jjsmama401i’d say it was worth it. Horror movies in the theater are significantly more scary
It sucked
Taste is subjective. Just because you didn’t like it doesn’t mean OP has to aswell
@@Josh-l8q the movie is very overhyped, has a number of plot threads that lead nowhere
The theater was so still and quiet, even though it was packed, that whenever the AC turned on, it seemed loud. It was like turning on a white noise machine in the background. It increased the tension because it felt like it was part of the score. Then, suddenly, the AC would shut off at the perfect time when a scene was approaching its climax, and it added so much to the film-watching experience. This is definitely one of the best horror films ever made.
Oh Chris, I’m so happy that your movie is going to be shown. It’s a pity that I won’t be able to get there to see it but I can’t wait to see it. See it. I’m so happy for you.😊🎉❤
Congratulations on the premiere 🎉
Was waiting for the Cure comparisons. Recently watched that flick because of Chris’s review on it so when I saw the movie and how the structure was very similar I was like “wow it’s like Chris prepared me for this.”
Hey Chris, HUGE congrats on getting your movie submitted to a festival! We can’t wait to see it!
um no we can wait
First, congratulations on the release of "Shelby Oaks". And Nic Cage? Outstanding. And it's so good to see him making a comeback to the mainstream. This movie sounds similar to the 2020 version of "Invisible Man". I never knew that someone staring at an empty chair could be so unsettling.
NO ADS THANK YOUUUUUUU
LongLegs is sick AF. I loved every moment of it. Totally purchase-worthy, without question.
I've been a long-time sub, but honestly haven't been watching lately. I checked in, because I noticed some BS talking about how you'd "gone soft" or whatever, mad because you're not crapping on movies. Glad to see you're still at it and actually still love your style. Not everything has to be crapping on things to be somehow "valid". People don't understand that finding out how the sausage is made changes how the sausage tastes to you and gives you a newfound respect for the sausage makers. Being negative doesn't make you smart, it just makes you negative and if you're going to be churning out more content like this, I'm here for it. I'm totally going to check out Longlegs, now.
Longlegs is a hauntingly gorgeous movie with immaculate camera work and sound design. Oz Perkins really created an atmosphere of anxiety and unease that makes you feel tense from start to finish; normally a jump scare gives you some form of reprieve but here you feel right on edge until the credits roll. As far as the performances go, the cast was fantastic with Maika and Nic being the standouts.
Definitely a movie I want to see again and I plan on buying it once it's released to vod. Right now it sits at an 8/10 for me but that may go up upon repeat viewings. I had a nasty headache from a long and hot day at work, so it was a bittersweet experience.
Saw this at Noon today. Theater was half full which is rare for a movie at noon. It was so creepy and I loved it
I was in a Alamo drafthouse in Chicago and it was jam packed
What would you say are your top 5 best horror movies?
I stopped the review as soon as you said "blew me the fuck away". I can't wait to see this tonight!!!
Update. I fucking loved it.
I just left the theater a few minutes ago and let me just say that I’m happy for you that you loved it.
@@dereisenadler6717 hahaha it's all good and you absolutely have the right to not like it or feel indifferent about it. I don't think it was a masterpiece by any means but it felt like a VERY solid horror movie with great acting
@@velasoraptor_
You're easily impressed.
@@fizzygillespie "Well that's just like, your opinion, man."
It is what it is, I'm not here to start no internet arguing. But I do believe that the atmosphere of the movie, specifically at the theater, was amazing. Haven't had that feeling in a long while.
Congratulations on your film....I've been waiting for you to drop it👍🎉🎉🎉
Are there any plans for a nationwide or semi nationwide release of Shelby Oaks? I want to see that movie badly as well. Congrats. 👍🏾💯
I gave it a C+. It had the potential to go so much deeper. I thought it was going to be more intense. The storyline was there.... 🤷♀️
@@tylerb.1008 It's borderline campy how over the top he is. Between that and the devil eyes fading out this movie was just a huge miss for me
It really wasn't good. I mean beautiful cinematography but the plot sucked. It was boring. The main character was less than 1 dimensional
@@smac1684 I've been telling people, "I've never hated a movie so beautifully directed." For me, everything on screen, and the performances were amazing. But as the story unfolded more and more, I was thinking, "Please god, don't go this route..."
@@virtuex10 as soon as the scene at the begging when she's talking to the little girl and the girl says " is it scary to be a female FBI agent" I was like oh god....
The ending was so weak, the black mom also died for no reason, she knew what was going to happen.
CONGRATS ON SHELBY OAKS ID LOVE TO WATCH IT !!!!
That exact scene he mentioned about Lee Harker opening the letter worth the doorframe in shot, was Masterclass. The WHOLE time my eyes were looking in every crevasse of the screen to see something move
Absolutely loved this movie
0/10 Legs weren't even long.
This movies atmosphere is simply astounding.
Hello Chris, It's good to see you again❤
This was a comedy movie nothing scary about it. Most overhyped horror I've ever seen
I'm so surprised by the mostly positive comments about this movie and that is rated fairly well on Rotten Tomatoes. Are there multiple cuts out there or something?? The movie can't even have stand without the long exposition scene with the mom
Previews were scarier than the film. Sad but true. 1st act was ok, just got worse from there. I wanted to love this movie so badly 😞
You can tell who has actually watched the movie vs who is just riding the hype before viewing based on all the comments lol
@@alexmarshall8187It looked like the scariest horror movie in a decade from the trailers. The movie wasn’t scary. It had moments of dread and creepiness but I left that in the movie theater when I went back to my normal life.
@@alexmarshall8187 For real. I'm kinda baffled by this review. The movie had a lot of good elements, but the actual plot was so stupid it took me out of it by the end.
Agree. I was so disappointed in this film.
Happy for you Chris, can't wait to see Shelby Oaks!
Damn everyone saying how great the movie is and all I can think after watching it is that it's a mix of piss, shit and ass lol goes to show how differently people see things
I just got out of the theater 10 minutes ago. This is the worst film I have ever seen in theater thus far.
It didn’t even feel like Nicholas Cage was in the movie either.
A big reason for my assessment was because this movie was sooo corny.
Same. Last bit of proof that I needed that movie critics are bought. This movie was dog shit.
I was really into it in the first 2 thirds, but the last act was extremely cheesy and stupid. Kinda ruined the movie for me.
@@import3dguest My thoughts exactly. That’s why I feel this is the worst movie I’ve seen in theaters.
The cinematography was great and the first act as well as the first half of the second act was pretty good.
By the second half of the second act, I foresaw where the movie was heading.
The movie was pretty solid until they quickly pissed everything away in the third act.
Cage’s acting was slightly too campy, which made his scenes not intimidating nor scary, but cheesy and kinda cringe.
The whole third act was corny and all I remember is my mom and I just laughing rather than being invested.
The WHOLE theater was silent. You could feel the tension. Me and the friend I went with were stressed. A nearly full theater.
