  • Episode 40: Chronic Kidney Disease Symptoms Stage 4 overview, treatment strategy, and renal diet info you NEED to know. For those just diagnosed with CKD stage 2, this video gives an overview of how your kidney function is determined and then dives deeper into the common chronic kidney disease stage 2 symptoms you may experience. The CKD treatment outcomes highlight what the goals for treatment typically are for Stage 2. Your kidney diet (renal diet) is extremely important to slow down, stop, or reverse your kidney disease and I cover some of the common diet changes recommended with Chronic Kidney Disease Stage 2.

A person with stage 2 chronic kidney disease (CKD) has kidney damage with a mild decrease in their glomerular filtration rate (GFR) of 60-89 ml/min. There are usually no symptoms to indicate the kidneys are damaged. Because kidneys do a good job even when they’re not functioning at 100 percent, most people will not know they have stage 2 CKD. If they do find out they’re in stage 2, it’s usually because they were being tested for another condition such as diabetes or high blood pressure-the two leading causes of kidney disease.

It's not always cookie cutter as one thinks. I went from no symptoms, never got sick 29 y/o to stage 5 with no warnings. I have no high blood pressure, no auto immune disease, no diabetes, never smoked or drank alcohol, my diet was ok but I wasn't morbidly obese and I worked out 3x a week and lost 20 lbs around that time. Literally nothing to show why even after 2 biopsies my kidneys failed and after 2.5 months in the hospital they diagnosed me with kidney failure as acute. No one in my family has Kidney failure either. I just got a kidney transplant and I'm still young so I feel great. I pray for everyone going through this. I was on dialysis and inspite of the sarcasm of this person speaking about dialysis he's never been on you can definitely make it if it becomes your only option. It can even become a community to you like it has been for me. You are strong enough and will be ok. Keep God first and think positively. You still have a meaning in life and can still be a light while on it.

I cured my stage 3 kidney disease by doing the following: When I wake up, I would put a tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar in a glass of water then fast for 6 hours then eat a small meal. I tried to drink a gallon of water day. Every 3 months I would donate a Double Blood donations. I had a GFR of 74 last year and was told to stop taking NSAIDs. I have fibromyalgia so that was prescribed to me for YEARS! This year my GFR showed a huge drop to 59.1! A 16 point drop in a year! I did have covid 6 months before. I am really thinking covid did a number on my kidneys even though I didn't need any medical treatment at the time. I don't have high blood pressure (borderline high cholesterol though), I am not diabetic ( possibly prediabetic though... resting glucose of 113). I am obese but since my appointment I have dropped 12 pounds. I plan to drop 38 more pounds before my next appointment in 5 months. My change in diet and will power is going strong (that news scared me straight). I will go from obese to normal weight in that time. My creatinine level is 1.1 but the nephrologist said that my weight isn't helping that. He said that other numbers indicate stable renal function. I don't take NSAIDS, drink, or smoke. I hardly ever eat out. My biggest thing was I didn't drink hardly any water and drank sugary and creamy coffee all day. I've cut all cream and sugar from my coffee and limit myself to 2 to 4 cups a day. Started a kidney friendly diet and am drinking 64-80 ounces of water a day now. I possibly injured my knee a couple days ago but refuse nsaids still. I certainly hope my kidneys will bounce back to at least an early stage 2 disease. I'm only 38.

I am healthy! At 38 years old it could still be better but I will take that any day. I am still working on myself. There are days I have to work to get myself to drink my water or to stay away from junk food but I've been able to get right back on to eating and drinking right every time. Obviously, I didn't end up having yet CKD but if I hadn't changed when I did, it was in my immediate future.

@@Happy-Girl1950 From all that I´ve read I understand that a high protein diet is bad because the kidneys have to filter it .. the amount of protein I need is my weight x 0.8 (72kg x 0.8 = 57.6g of protein ... I´m not eating any more than that). I´m entering everything I eat onto a diet app (Cronometer) so I can keep track of protein, salt intake (I never add salt to anything) and vitamins and minerals. I keep hydrated by drinking ginger tea ... ginger is good for inflammation. I walk at least 10000 steps every day. PrEP is a drug that prevents you catching HIV

Stress will get you sicker with this disease and you will not be focusing on your health. Drink lots and lots of water 💧. I am sure that many of us are scared, and it has affected our lives and the way we process and try to adapt.... notice I said try, because that’s all that we can do.
