James Overhiser I play this song often at sessions I go to, and it always gets a great response.I heard this song long before I actually learned to play it, but everyone else played it in about 4 chords and that doesn't work.Then I heard JT's version, and that was the one for me.It will be worth the effort to learn this version.

Hey George. I have only just realised that you had replied to my comment on this song posted a couple of weeks ago.
Yes! How unique is James? There are not too many people that can call as many covers their 'own' as James Taylor has. 'You've Got a Friend', 'Oh Susanna', 'Up On The Roof', 'Greensleeves' and of course 'The Water is Wide', to name a few (I'm sure there are others that I just can't recall right now) and why wouldn't they be as successful as they have proved to be? His voice, his guitar expertise mixed with his beautiful arrangements? Wow! What a talent! Anyway! I'm waffling George! 😊
