Judith has the "famous" voice, but I can't help but notice, yet again, that all 4 of these voices are special in the way they blend. One of my favourites. 78 year old Aussie. Those were the days the late 50s to late 60s produced such a wealth of beautiful music. If you listen to the wonderful backing in most of those songs it will add an even deeper appreciation of the quality of the music. Music has lost its melody since then. A 78 year old Aussie.
What a tremendously beautiful rendition of “ The Water Is Wide “. What an absolutely gorgeous.melody. Weren’t they just wonderful!! Always wonderful!!. My tears are falling, and my ♥️ heart is 😢 aching, with several emotions, watching, and listening to these four amazing human beings, in their old age, performing this miracle, with such integrity, the clarity, and range of voices, and pristine diction, and it all performed, seemingly effortlessly !! All four voices, blending beautifully melodiously, and meticulously, as if just one voice.Incredible!! ❤❤❤❤. How gracious, and sweet, of Judith, to step back, from the solo line, allowing Bruce, to perform such a beautiful, heartfelt rendition, of this lovely song, sung with, tenderness, gentility, and calm. Perfection, at it’s best. And Judith’s angelic, melodic vocals, coming through, like the softest of winds. I am emotionally drained. Bruce, such a talented , lovely man, Keith, and Athol, also. All three gentlemen, were a golden match ,with Judith’s superb, sweet voice. I'd suggest that, like the fact that all the stories have been told hence the terrible films we have now( endless franchises and remakes) I believe that all the tunes have been written hence the appalling stuff that passes for pop music these days. It's easy to blame people like Simon Cowell and I do to a large extent but where is the talent? Songs with beautiful words sung well and clearly and with an identifiable tune seem to have gone on permanent leave of absence. There is little or no likelihood of a group like the Seekers appearing again so we must, however reluctantly, embrace the music of the past if we want to hear great pop music.
My Brother in law is battling cancer in the hospital and i am sitting here with my earbuds in the hallway,I ran into this video.Boy it put me in tears. The moment was perfect ,i needed this to ease my stress.Thank you for posting this video.I appreciate it.
This is the very best version of their song. I play it over and over. I love the background film of their younger days playing while they are singing. How many of us can relate to growing old and remembering those days of our youth. A beautiful song as this must become a classic and remembered for generations to come!
Still enjoy singing this today, and it brings fabulous memories of lovely times when we were teenagers in the late 60s and early 70s. I’m nearly 70 now in 2023 and it resonates so strongly. A guitar, in a bedroom, relaxing with great pals who are still part of my life.
As I listen to this beautiful song I have loving memories of my late wife Helen and all the happy memories we shared over 43 years.Thank you to Bruce Judith Athol and Keith for this masterpiece of music

Of all the versions I have heard, this has to be the best one. It is a song that sounds best when just sung straight, with heartfelt integrity, and that is the hallmark style of The Seekers.
The last chance I got to see them live on this tour was their Liverpool performance. What really hit home with me was finally seeing Judith's diminutive physical stature live on stage. Such a delicate, tiny little morsel of humanity, showing the strength and determination to continue on with a farewell tour after all she had been through .... That alone left me spellbound. They were all brilliant, an honour to be in their presence.
Thank you JanMarsh for your warm tribute to The Seekers. I had the privilege of first hearing them on a local Sydney radio station the night before my ship pulled into Sydney. I fell in love with their brilliant singing then and they remain my favorite group.

I know that this song is not intended to showcase Judith - but she still comes through so sweetly. She could make singing the phone book beautiful. Greatest folk group? Probably. Well done, Australia.
Greatest melody and harmony at a perfect tempo. Their artistry is enchanting and I treasure each of my albums. I’m 83 and the Seekers have always been my favorite group singers. Now i understand why my Dad played the Seekers songs in the 80s growing up. Always had to forcefully be his side-kick to work as a 5-7 yrs old. The Seekers was the tune in the car those mornings. RIP Judith😢😢. RIP Dad and i hold these memories dear to heart. Listening in 2024.
Just discovered this song on UA-cam a month or so ago. I could listen to it and them over and over again. I grew up with some of their music, not knowing that much about them as a group specifically, but as an adult, later in my life now have grown strongly attached to their music! I pray that they are all well and blessed from above!
I had one of the seekers first albums when I was a kid in the early 60s.. I missed so many of their songs but now the past week I've listened to many.so sad that Judith is gone...I wish I could have seen the seekers in concert!.
As a Scottish folk singer from the 60s, thank you Judith xnd the boys for giving me the courage to do what I have done as a folk singer over the years.
One of the best groups of all time. Personally, I'll take them over the Beatles. After all, the Beatles didn't have Judith Durham. Bruce Woodley has a wonderful voice! If they're not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, they should be. Wish I had a vote. This is one of my favorite songs, too. First heard Pete Seeger sing it on al old record. May the Seekers live on forever!
The Seekers , as with a number of other outstanding musical acts, are a baffling, inexplicable omission from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ........ they were however inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in Melbourne, Australia during the mid nineties.
Steve--I don't see the Seekers as rock-n-roll at all--it's folk music--remember in their '68 TV special, Keith and Athol switched gears and said they used to be rock-n-roll, grabbed electric guitars, and did a Chuck Berry rockin' tune? It may be related, because I see Johnny Cash has something to do with it, and he's country, or was. Bob Dylan while mainly folk does have some rock music crossover and he's in there. www.rockhall.com/about
Steve Roberts, I agree with your comments. I do not rate the Beatles at all. They are just insects making a horrible noise(forgive the pun). The Seekers have musical rythim & most important they have the distinctive beautiful voice of Australia's number one female vocalist, the beautiful Judith Durham. Let's be honest, she is the nucleus of the group & I am a great fan of the Seekers. I have made many wonderful comments relating to Seekers musical videos, I hope you have seen them.
Truly blessed with unique musical gifts not seen in other groups. Their music has a serene feeling which applies to every soul listening to their songs.
This is so beautiful it makes me cry. I have loved the Seekers for many years, and we are all getting older together. They have the perfect blend of harmony and their music is calming and unmatched by any other I have heard. Appreciate their contribution to meaningful music. God bless!
Such beauty, voices of such depth and harmony ,brings tears of joy and sadness ,judith the voice of an angel ,your voice will allways harmonise the earth and the stars,❤😊 xx
I never get tired of The Seekers. They just are a perfect match ! ❤❤❤ There arent many singers that still sound as good as they did in the 60s!!❤❤❤ They may even sound better !❤
I am now 77 and my wife died in March 2022 as did Judy this year and I look back on the wonderful Seekers ,life will never be the same without them both,so lovely, so harmonious ,and the memories will stay with me as life moves on .
The greatest Australian talents this country has ever produced. Never again will we see or know such amazing performers. Once in a lifetime only. God bless them all. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
So this one kinda tore a hole in my chest... Especially the footage of a younger Judith waving... It's getting closer to a year since her passing, and I'm still not used to the idea that, for the first time in my life, there'll never again be a new (at least to me) Seekers song to discover... RIP Judith Durham: You were an Australian National Treasure.
I'm over 60 and remember this group when I was younger. I always lover a few of their songs, like 'I'll Never Find Another You' and 'Georgie Girl'. But luckily for me I rediscovered then recently and know am listening to all their songs. What a talented and wholesome group!
I've commented before but listening to them again .this live version I've just realized they have matured. It's in this maturity there voices and harmonies are very very beautiful. I liked then when they started and they are still very fresh but also richer in quality in every respect.. they the seekers are in no doubt the best the very best in what they have given to us the listening audience...we all of us say thank you seekers for the best in music....
They were, are, and always will be GREAT. What incredible talents. Carol and I never get tired listening to them. Been with them pretty much from the beginning and it just gets better and better.
Im born and bred with the seeker's. Got 500 plus records . Been to quite a few of there concert's. Once i travelled 2500klms round trip to see them and I'll do that again without a second thought. Born with there records when dad played his old record player. The best times.
I saw them at their height when they did pantomime in Stockton-on-Tees. Pantomime was sometimes the only way we would get to see the current artists on stage. They did have to do silly parts but they got to do a proper set at the mid point. The music is timeless and the harmony true.
In immersing myself in many Seekers songs over the past few months, I think this is the first I’ve heard Bruce sing lead. Such a beautiful, emotional voice and guitar performance. It’s amazing how something so simple as a ballad can create such emotions for us. And the group’s harmonies are heavenly. Thanks again to rich963 for this channel.
This song or parts of it came to me this morning so I know if heard it somewhere... probably in my youth. So fitting as I later heard of a friend's passing yesterday morning. Her husband was or pause and worship band leader at my old church. Their kids sing in their church now. I love Bruce Woodley's voice on this song. Beautiful. Judith's voice also, lovely.
These three gentlemen and Judith are The Seekers. When one is absent, they still have their own musicianship , but like fine coffee, not the brew or tone. No one will surpass those unique folk known as the Seekers.
The Seekers are my favorite group of all time! Perfect harmony all the time. I have so many favorites I can’t name a one song that’s better than the other. Imagine seeing them in concert! I can’t find the song Far Shore on any of their albums. Awesome group! Judith you have the most beautiful voice.
So impressive in a group with one preeminent dominant vocalist, that that lead singer can take a support role when another band member has a lead. So much simple but profound talent on that stage.
Absolutely, Steven, I really like your comment. As you say, simple. To the extent that back then, I didn't understand how much work actually went into their performances.
Exactly! Judith was simply astounding, with probably the greatest female voice ever, so rich, clear and powerful, she faded into the background on this, her mastery is complete. So profoundly sad at her loss, there are so many cliches, but simply we lost an angel!
This is just one example of the treasures that the seekers have in their Aladins cave of wonderful music to borrow the abba adage Thank you for the music
What an incredibly beautiful performance of this wonderful classic.....brought tears to my eyes listening to the simple arrangement and the profound words....no one but the Seekers could make this song like it is.....
Beautiful beyond words that I can find, to do justice to it. For decades it has been my complete and utter joy to listen to this fabulous group. Love them.
Bruce Woodley and Keith Potger amaze me with both their instrumental and vocal skills. Bruce Woodley does an even better job at this song than back in '65. Potger's Guardian Angel is beautiful as well. Please bring thing music back and not the garbage out there now days. Thank you Seekers!
The music of my youth, such exquisite clarity. Her notes are so accurate and she has a group of similarly talented people behind her. RIP Judith, you will always have a very deep place in my memory. Thank you.
Hi Rich, how are you doing and how was your day. I'm Patti from Long Beach, CA. just looking for a new friend and i saw your pic here... Nice to meet you.
Everything they did was touching and so tight. Wonderful blend. Also, wonderful to see them still singing and playing at this age in their lives. Judith just passed away recently.

I agree James. One of my regrets in life is not seeing them in concert. How good would that have been
I was introduced to this group by my then girlfriend in 1969. Next year we celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary.
This is talent. Time only makes it better.
The talent in the whole group really comes through in this song. Without judith taking lead the group can still move me. That was beautiful.
I totally agree.
As a Scottish folk singer from the 60s, thank you Judith xnd the boys for giving me the courage to do what I have done as a folk singer over the years.
I’ve listened to others singing The Water is Wide today and this truly the best.
Such beauty and a voice of an Angel. I have loved the vast amount of wonderful high quality music the Seekers have left us . RIP Judith x
The greatest group in modern times, by far.
It's a fantastic song ,and you're so right in eveything you say.

God bless!
Good evening my friend
Who's still listening to this music in December 22 of 2024 to
RIP our angel voice Judith Durham to
Just perfect , how could anyone possibly better this ? The harmony is absolutely unbelievable ..... Seekers forever! Love from Manchester UK.
I filmed some sections of the video in Manchester Barry 👍
Such beauty, voices of such depth and harmony ,brings tears of joy and sadness ,judith the voice of an angel ,your voice will allways harmonise the earth and the stars,❤😊 xx
I never get tired of The Seekers. They just are a perfect match ! ❤❤❤ There arent many singers that still sound as good as they did in the 60s!!❤❤❤ They may even sound better !❤
Beautiful song from the Seekers!
my sister sheila i never tried of listening to the seekers music at all
Just wonderful remembering Judith with this song: we'll never forget you and your incredible voice. Farewell dear Judith R.I.P.
The best version of this old traditional song. They instilled such emotion into it!
The record of this is one of my lifelong favourites. Here they are fifty years later sounding slightly better, if anything. Very moving.
A big hooray for Bruce. too often the unsung member of the group. He is wonderfully well-sung here!
He certainly is , it's a superb performance from him ..... he has such a warm voice, fabulous tone too.
I went Mad un 64 as student un GB i still love them Noe¡!!

Just one more beautiful Seekers song. Kudos to Bruce for this one!
I was brought up listening to the Seekers and still love listening to them in 2020. Brings back sweet and lovely memories. ❤️❤️❤️👍😊👏
Judith Durham. What a lady! How very fortunate to have followed her great generosity all these years. Bravo!
Hy I am Wim from Holland 73y. recently discovered the beauifull (for me unknown) songs of the Seekers, I am happy with it!
You have my admiration annalouise!
I saw them at their height when they did pantomime in Stockton-on-Tees. Pantomime was sometimes the only way we would get to see the current artists on stage. They did have to do silly parts but they got to do a proper set at the mid point. The music is timeless and the harmony true.
This is by far the best version of this song
I couldn't agree more ....
I have loved the Seekers for years, and I have never heard this before - SO good!
If you haven't already .. listen to 'Calling me home' , 'Eriskay Love Lilt', and 'It's hard to leave' .
@Bob S ???
Yes I 100 per cent agree with you.
Judith transitioned this year and all their polyphonic voices and music continue into Infinity!
My friend mary one of my favorite songs is Carry Me too
Wow! What a tremendous treasure trove. Bless you.
Thanks, Rich. Let's hope in 50 years the young will find these gems on the net and see what they've missed
Why wait that long ?
@@georgeprime2249 As I guess, that "50 years" is for the young to grow old enough to treasure the true value.
Love them.
A massive wow. I've grown-up with the seekers for 40 yrs. Still and always give me chills. I have 500 plus records. This is a song so memorable
I've had this on LP for nearly sixty years and still love it. Great to see and hear this performance, and hear Judith's comments.
How great The Seekers have been and always will be in our memories….God bless!
A band-and music-for the ages!
The music of my youth, such exquisite clarity. Her notes are so accurate and she has a group of similarly talented people behind her. RIP Judith, you will always have a very deep place in my memory. Thank you.
Wow, love the incredible harmonies. Technical quality is exceptional. Always love The Seekers!
Hi Rich, how are you doing and how was your day. I'm Patti from Long Beach, CA. just looking for a new friend and i saw your pic here... Nice to meet you.
@@pattistilwell7424 Hello Patti, thanks for connecting. I have relatives in the Long Beach area.
Voice perfection judith
If ever the word lush needs to be used it's to describe the gorgeous harmonies in this beautiful recording. Absolutely sublime!
Everything they did was touching and so tight. Wonderful blend. Also, wonderful to see them still singing and playing at this age in their lives. Judith just passed away recently.
Heavenly, i bow down to the 'Seekers' what harmonies they had ❤
I'm with you, beautiful memories from the 'Seekers ❤
Just the song to welcome in the First of April 2021 when the world needs hope !
I couldn’t disagree with all of your comments.
This is so beautiful , and I agree with totally Judith’s comments.
I always like to fill I was her biggest fan since I was a teenager , now 74.
May God Bless Her♥️xxx
REALLY ENJOY LISTENING TO THEIR MUSIC & WATCHING THEM PERFORM!
This is the music of the gods. Thank you, Seekers. Listening to the late Judith at the end brings tears.
Good luck and good sailing along waves of our memory!
The best of the best. I have always loved this song. God bless this group.
They are simply an uplifting stimulus for my soul
How good was that? Absolutely incredible, such harmony ...... what a beautiful song and performance this is, it moved me to tears .... i'm definitely going to have that played at my funeral, and i'll refuse to leave this world quietly until i've heard it too!
