First concert I ever saw was The Cars in Philly at The Spectrum in August of 1979. I was 12 years old, and just about to go into Junior High School. My father took me to that concert because I listened to that first album 'non stop'. Fast forward 6 years later and Live Aid happens, and I'm 18 delivering pizzas in the Philly suburbs just before college. Live Aid was playing on my radio in my 1973 VW Beetle, and EVERY house that I delivered pizza to had Live Aid on their TV sets. I never missed a beat! It was a HOT day on many levels! Good times.
Upon first seeing this, years ago, I remember thinking, "Damn, this healthy lookin' dude's got it all goin' on, awesome voice, talented bass-playing, in a great band, rock star looks, everything." Glad you passed our way, Benjamin! RIP.
The Cars. Just the mention of them takes me back in my mind to my days in high school. It's sad that Ben and Ric are gone, and there will never reunions or tours by them again. But, damn I have good memories when I hear their music, and I'll have them forever.

Ric wasn't a conventionally handsome man, but he had something. He was for sure more talented than most famous guys of today ..as for Benjamin he was on another level!
I thought both Ric and Ben were frontmen like John Lennon and Paul McCartney. They each sang lead in different songs.
@@haroldbrown3452 Well yes, but then again, Rick had such a distinctive look. Really made the band stand out from the crowd visually, in addition to their sound being so unique to that time.
Good Performance, no matter how old this song is becoming just realizing how bad music is now we just realize this is pure gold.

The only reason we think music was better back then is because that 90% from back then is obscured by the top 10% that we all remember and agreed was the best back then. There was so much garbage that we will never need to hear today. Only difference is that today, any kid with a computer can "make music".
@@Dano.G Nah. I lived it and I can say without a doubt, 95% of what is called "music" today is pure, talentless garbage. And 90% of songs prior to late 90s on back to about late 60s were great.

First concert I ever saw was The Cars in Philly at The Spectrum in August of 1979. I was 12 years old, and just about to go into Junior High School. My father took me to that concert because I listened to that first album 'non stop'. Fast forward 6 years later and Live Aid happens, and I'm 18 delivering pizzas in the Philly suburbs just before college. Live Aid was playing on my radio in my 1973 VW Beetle, and EVERY house that I delivered pizza to had Live Aid on their TV sets. I never missed a beat! It was a HOT day on many levels! Good times.
Upon first seeing this, years ago, I remember thinking, "Damn, this healthy lookin' dude's got it all goin' on, awesome voice, talented bass-playing, in a great band, rock star looks, everything." Glad you passed our way, Benjamin! RIP.
The Cars. Just the mention of them takes me back in my mind to my days in high school. It's sad that Ben and Ric are gone, and there will never reunions or tours by them again. But, damn I have good memories when I hear their music, and I'll have them forever.
