My 1999 Ml320 just had a similar episode ... I was being a kid and matted the gas peddle to the floor, upon deceleration it started a pretty substantial miss at idle. I pulled over and shut off the car and when I restarted it. it set misc miss code PO300 and miss code for cylinders 5 and 7 (weird). After restart it ran perfectly no egr code, hooked the scanner up and reset the miss codes and took a look at the fuel trims and o2 sensors. Looks like I'm doing the egr valve. The pintle on the valve or the solenoid are sticking. FCP EURO sells one for 87 dollars and I just put it on order. I also cleaned the egr tube and valve while doing the valve cover gaskets 5 months ago.
thats what we old guys get for the occasional hooliganism :) Misspent youth with no such thing as a check engine light ..ahh the good old days. When the egr isn't used to opening that far it can get stuck . Usually doesn't stay that way . I squirt them with a bit of deep creep (seafoam ) every few months and keep my fingers crossed .
Man, at least one case of beer for your efforts of producing these videos. I love watching each and everyone of them. You should make a video with the Who's (Tommy) Fiddlin' About as background music when you are fiddling about the delicate engine parts.
Hi Fupa! How are you taking all this days? Lot of car works? jaja I did this test today. The first time i apply vacuum like you did at 13:14 it was kind of stuck there a little. But a little it was like it made a jump when it got losse and then worked smoothles after that. Might that happened because i cleane it(deep) and some stuff made that effect? Maybe it was stuck enought so motor vaccum could not move it and now its gonna be fine and not get stuck again? xD I cant afford a new one but it seems fine car has 75 k kilometros w202 . Hope you are doing grate. Thanks to help me take care of this car i love. Saludos desde Argentina.
Thanks , were doing ok here. Hope you and your family are well. I think once you got if cleaned and freed up it should be fine . New ones are expensive so hopefully yours will be ok now
Hello! My car is W208 CLK320 ( M112 V6 3.2 gasoline ) from 1998y with ODB1. I unplugged yellow plug but nothing happened. I have driven 40 km and no any differences. "Check Engine Light" doesn't light. Regular engine operation. Does egr is blanked or deleted by programming ECU?
Thank you for answer. Previously owner removed secondary pair of catalyst converters. I suppose, that he blanked or deleted EGR by programming ECU. I don't know how to check it. How i can check "check engine light" is working ? Disconnect another sensor?
Dear fupabox, I have a 1992 500SL with 130,000 on the clock; I’m planning on selling it. Quick question - where did you sell your R129? I don’t know whether I should sell it to a car dealer or try selling it online. Many thanks!
Sand paper? Grit#?? O-Rings? Give me some peace of mind please. You missed little details in my honest opinion; being an owner of a 2002 S55 AMG and havning done over 10 grand worth of work myself, it's critical mentioning the importance of the small things in order to avoid the larger headaches
Thank you so much! Helped me figuring out my P0400 problem for my W211 E320. Great job telling the whys and hows of testing EGR valve!
Glad it helped!

Very informative thanks! I put my G in storage now but I will come around to do the valve cover gasket job soon.

Can I smash a guitar when I lose my mind and can't get a bolt off :)
Maybe later.
But for now, it's more like this: ua-cam.com/video/Y7e4Y03uojg/v-deo.html
Great video as always :)
thanks
Does the G Wagon more maintenance than other Mercedes vehicles? At least there seems to be room to work in the engine bay.

I believe an ECU re-map can bypass egr function , but I'm not sure . No difference in driving or check engine light is odd with it unplugged .
Thank you for answer.

Whats the symptoms of bad egr ???
And it must show codes ?
usually shows a code ..not always . rough idle , poor acceleration , bad gas mileage

Local advertising like autotrader or craigslist . I used a site in Canada called Kijiji...owned by ebay and very similar with no charges for posting
