All this talk of long shafts and rubber protection... you really know how to get us sim racers going.
Doing my best mate! lol
Protection is everything ;)
When my girl left me she used your same words. She said she “wanted to go with the longer configuration.”
Aiologs are now taking pre-orders for their new H-Pattern shifter 🙂
Owned both shifter and handbrake since 2019 both are still going strong. I have mine mounted on thrustmaster desk mounts.
"In the heat of things, you really just want to bang it." hahaha
Great review as always.
Well... 🤷♀️😆
For stiffer resistance I use short shaft but mount the base higher on rig near to steering wheel (think BTCC type position). 2 plus years, really like it!
I just ordered this shifter and the Aiologs handbrake as well! Can't wait!
Great video as usual mate. I do love your videos from the engineering perspective.
Cheers Phil! :)
Comedy value brilliant as per 🤣👏. Good review as usual thanks karl
Glad you enjoyed it! lol
I make do with the sequential mode on my TH8A, works pretty well tbf and it feels great with the Mod Cambio V3
I've had mine for a while now and it's been faultless. I like the extra immersion you get from just slamming through the gears without worrying about whether the shifter can take it.
It is very robust! Or at least it seems to be.
Thanks for review!
No problem!
Been waiting for 10 weeks for a ProSim V2 Sequential. Might give the Aioligs a go if you don’t ship my V2 soon. Thanks again….oh loving my triple 55” LG C1 setup, even getting 4K@120 on all 3!
10 weeks!
Yeah they are great aren't they! :D
Great vid. Just wanted to say thanks for saving me $50CAD on my GT Omega prime and accessory order!
No problem 👍
Hi Karl, More double entendre than your average Carry On film in this one. Just the way we like it. 😀
Good review as always, looks interesting.
lol cheers Barry! :D Been a while since I've seen a Carry On film.
It would be good if mr aiologs created a bigger shifter and handbrake,I have both the shifter and handbrake and love them both.
I really liked the SQ for the two years I had it. Strangely enough it was a little too big for the way I wanted to set up my sim rig as I also have a Jinx SQ and ProSim H pattern. I ended up getting a HE SQ and selling the AioLogs. What a huge mistake that was. The HE feels like a toy compared to the AioLogs. It’s so weak and damp feeling where the Aiologs is stiff and snappy. It has more a mechanical feel. It’s perfect for simulating open wheel cars with that style of SQ shifter.
Interesting to hear that mate, I've not used the HE one but their HB is definitely the superior of the two, but it should be at double the price.
hahahahahahahaa that episode was literally 1970's comedy, great review on top of course though
Thanks Vlad!
Its just physic, the longer the shaft the more leverage there is thus lighter input. This why they use shorter shaft for short throw shifter because no matter how stiff the shifter mech is, it will become lighter albeit still short throw but less tactile feel with rally style shaft. Its most likely the same for rally cars because with too much leverage the box will actually break if it still stiff with a long shaft, just more pressure on the base.
I don't think you mentioned the LED lights. Both the shifter and handbrake have programable LED's inside if that's your thing. Maybe make the SQ Green and the HB red for stop and go :) Great video Karl. These are amazing shifters are I regret not getting one sooner. I have had mine for about 3 months now.
I didn't mate you're right! I forgot it was even there as I couldn't see it once mounted to my rig, but they don't effect how it feels or works so thankfully not a big deal.
I'm glad you like yours, a decent little shifter for those who just want sequential for sure :)
I already have the matching handbrake and I love it. I have the shifter on order, but be prepared to pay 81 us dollars for postage and £11 to DHL for admin. The postage I assume has gone through the roof due to the sanctions thing.
It was already through the roof before sanctions.
$81 Postage!!!
@@KarlGosling Shifter 190 us, postage 81 us, Customs and DHL admin £55.03. Never even paid customs when I got the handbrake a couple of years ago. How things change.
I don't think any car in real life feels the same, the wheel, the pedals, the shifters, the seats, the body positions, the suspension, the tires, but we get used to them pretty quick, because we don't push them to the limit. It's on the limit where the tiniest differences may have huge impact on performance, and that is so much the case in sim-racing too.
I'm wondering on the other hand if the Russian/Ukrainian war has some impact on the delivery or warranty of their products.
Aiolog seems to be located in St-Petersburg, Dof Reality in the Ukraine...
We are almoast in non profit mode due of hight Rubbles ratio right now, but steel alive. DHL deliviring our order worldwide, unfortunaly with more hight price (again Rubbles ratio) than usually.
karl, im looking to buy a new seat for my simlabs gt evo but never sat in a racing seat before. ive found 2 i like but 1 is the mototec racing gt which is fibreglass and the sparco sprint which is tubular steel frame. is there much difference? in the real car i can imagine there is but just for sim racing? thanks mate for any help
Some do still flex more than others under hard braking but unless you're a pro there's probably very little in it.
Hi Karl will you let us know if AIOLOGS give you a discount code on the handbrake review? I'm about to order these or maybe the BJ sim products.
They have said no discounts sorry mate.
@@KarlGosling that's OK it's still a good price. Thanks
Go it. It’s awesome!
I bought one
Try Simagic sequential. It's Amazing! But Loud lol
So maybe to try Simagic Q1S it is cheaper than Q1 and not so loud!
The aiologs is a nice unit, but it really just feels like an expensive toy. There is so little resistance and tactility that it just feels like pressing a switch.
Any chance you'd be able to review the SG Racing Pro sequential shifter? That thing has a proper nice tactile feeling
It's made entirely of stainless steel and has a decently solid mechanism so I would defineilty put it above the "expensive toy" category, think TH8A for a good example of that IMO.
I'll ask if they'd like to send one over mate.
"This hard and much longer" should have been the title of the video lol
Next time! lol
I wonder how it compares to the THRUSTmaster serco system. They are in a similar price range.
I had the Thrustmaster TSSH and switched to this one about 3 months ago. The Aiologs is way louder and feels/looks better IMHO
@@elbowsout6301 thanks mate. I just had a look at the Trustmaster tssh and it is way more expensive too.
@@TheRatlord74 no problem. Here in Canada the Aiologs is $299 Cnd, the Thrustmaster TSSH is $399 from the same store.
@@elbowsout6301 wow that sounds like a lot considering shipping and taxes. The thrustmaster is around £240 here in the UK.
+1 to this. I used the thrustmaster sparco mod in the past, would also be curious to see how you think the two compare and if the price difference is justified
you get a like just for the double entendre
😂😂😂 today we watch a review of a shaft and a knob, and if we prefer it hard or soft
Exactly! lol

That’s a real homie right there
i think my lego shifter and handbrake attachment works good enough
