  • Small, stout, and stealthy. The guys at HE have developed quite a nice little shifter here.

    Another great review from the man himself. :)
    So crazy all the great gear that HE are making, when I started sim racing again after many years away, I went to a friend’s place, he has a DD wheel, HE pedals, and the first released version of this shifter (one without the circuit board), and I knew I was in for a hefty bill.
    I love all my HE gear, top gear, and top service.

    Although English not my mother language, but I will switch on auto subtitles , manage to read all Barry words , he must give very straight forward and useful informations , although he don’t have good camera or entertaining film edition , but I really love it , thank you very much

    I run this as a secondary shifter low in my rig for open wheelers. Perfect for that purpose.

    Excellent review Barry! Great sequential shifter but I'm happy with my Fanatec shifter for now. Thank you for my morning entertainment. Very well done as always.

    You are the first one who took this apart :) I couldn't find any other video. I would say it's lasercut, from the edge, the things I cut looks pretty similar.

      I have one of these and the parts look like they are lasercut and then rumbled to remove the sharp edges

    The blue hose piece is probably a polyurethane fuel hose. Gas hoses (as in Butane or Propane, etc. Not gasoline) in Europe are orange in color. For all I know they could be bought at the local Bauhaus' boat section. :p

    Great review as always Barry.
    The quietness can be viewed in two perspectives: good and bad. I have a DSD Short Throw Pro Shifter and the great clicky mechanical feeling is amplified by the clicky sound.

    Thanks Barry, I just proclaimed "I'M FINISHED" with my 10 year long build with the addition of "Red Momo".
    BUT NOW...... A sequential shifter that will fit in my original shifters location!!
    THANKS 😄😄
    Also, any chance you can take a measurement from end to end of the black caps? I need a max width to know for sure if it will fit.

    You can mount 40 profile on the outside of the bracket if you want to use the vertical mount configuration.

      Yes. Good point.

      Also, the 4 bolt pattern on the other support piece seems to serve as an inside mounting, rather than just back or forwards (which keeps the diagonal holes in the same place), hence the large opening for the shaft to pass through. Did I get it right?

    • @NielsHeusinkveld
      @NielsHeusinkveld 6 років тому +1

      There are 2 threads in the bottom of the shifter is because that is plenty strong. The real reason there are 4 holes in the table clamp is so we don't have to pay attention how the shifter bottom plate is assembled, it will align with the table clamp regardless!

    I did put on my own plastic knob (the large one from frex ) , the 3 that come with this are good too though

    Might be interested in their H shifter too on release depending on price ( might make my own )

    HE builds some incredible things and it is making it hard to decide between their pedals or HPP Simulation.

    • @MrROFloyd
      @MrROFloyd 6 років тому +1

      Geran Brown I don't think you could go wrong with either set. There will most likely be a wait for the HPP pedals whereas I think HE has them in stock. As for aesthetics, the HPP's are gorgeous. I own a set of HPP's and love them, but have friends that are equally as passionate about their HE's.

    Nice. So the return happens due to the oval groove. I imagined some torsion spring or so. Again nice engineering vom HE and thanks for the video
    Btw, what screen size is it you're using? It doesn't look like you have a section regarding the setup on your website.

    • @simracinggarage3026

      I'm using the Asus ROG Swift PG279Q 27". They are on an independent monitor mount stand with wheels. I will have the update my website with the configuration I use when racing. Several people have inquired about it. Thanks.

    • @fetB
      @fetB 6 років тому +1

      Would you say the screens should be bigger? That samsung 32:9 comes down to the same height as 27". I'm wondering if it's still too small in terms of scale. The car looks small on your screen, but relatively close in size on the 32:9 video ua-cam.com/video/v_XTMsKEDDQ/v-deo.html

    • @simracinggarage3026
      @simracinggarage3026  6 років тому

      Hard to say. You really have to be sitting in my cockpit to know for sure. Sometimes when I shoot video the screens are pushed back a bit, so not really my exact driving position for the monitors. When racing they are 24" away from my eye.

      No. Mounting bracket holes are 6mm. Just get some 6mm T-Nuts for 40 series profile.

    How long is the supplied usb cable?

    • @scottydvintagevideos
      @scottydvintagevideos 10 місяців тому

      It's maybe 3' but not longer. It also uses a micro USB port which is outdated. They need to change it to a USB-C port. You'll need a USB adapter to add a longer extension cable to reach computers that are further away.

      I'm also curious if it can be mounted flush on the bottom. I just received the Heusinkveld shifter but I'm not sure if it can be mounted using the shifter side mount to my TR8 Pro rig.

    • @sweetcougar

    Is it possible that removing the blue tubing would result in a sharper, less soft feeling to the shift?

    • @NielsHeusinkveld
      @NielsHeusinkveld 6 років тому +6

      That would remove the end stops. It would make the switches the mechanical end stop, resulting in a broken shifter after about 2 shifts! :-)

    • @AndyGarton
      @AndyGarton 6 років тому

      Thanks, I'll avoid trying that then! Have you by any chance tried different hardnesses of tubing? Or realistically would that make no difference?

    I don't think you would want to mount the shifter where the USB plug is at. The shifter only mounts one way. I am not sure why you're showing to mount it where the USB location. 🤪
