The mechanism looks like a copy of Pro-sim Quaife sequential shifter. As regards the neutral button, I think it's more a nuisance than something you really want to have there. With my shifter I simply use AutoHotkey and all I have to do to quickly engage neutral is to keep downshift pressed for half a second. Easy and practical.
I think the neutral button is superfluous and the double USB Yes, that was a success, I would mount it in my cockpit the other way around that you carry it...so the USB cable would bother me, or buy a 90º USB cable.
love the shifter and this is more in my price point. i wonder why they didnt put the R12 port next to the USB port in the back of the shifter. if can, i need to know, does the R12 port work with the dd1 wheelbase (or any other fanatec wheel base). if i dont have to run another usb cable to my pc i would rather not
No I have tried mixing other brands and they never work... It is odd they didn't put them next to each other but cables are easy enough to re-route luckily. :)
Hey Doug, Thanks for your review of the SIMAGIC SEQUENTIAL SHIFTER Q1S. I purchased one and am expecting it in this week. Do you by chance know the thread size and pitch of the shift shaft of the Q1S, and is it the same size a the orginal Simagic Q1 shifter? Again, Great review- Gordon.
Do you perhaps have some info on availability in Europe? Almost nothing to find about this shifter online, let alone find a retailer who sells it in Europe. Other Simagic products are available here though.

You are probably fine, I am running only two small actuators from PROSIMU though. I think there is a 350lb weight limit. I can't recall exactly. Just based on physics, lighter is better when it comes to motion. Less wear, less strain, quicker responses from the game, more aggressive motion. :)

Simagic Q1S Sequential Shifter is a well build unit however you should take care when mounting the base to your rig. I experienced that installing the unit utilizing the supplied screws could damage the circuit control board when installed. My rig is a Next Level GT setup which has flat mounting plates and without adding washers or shims resulted in a damaged shifter circuit board. The company that I purchased my shifter from did allow me to return the unit for a refund.
@@performance13able the Q1 is beefier you will notice much more resistance. I am starting to like certain things about the Q2 more but I do wish it was hall effect and more resistance. I think I can mod it though

I have noticed this as well but it rarely is an issue. I have gone to pull the shifter and decided to back off before and still shifted on accident and I have also double shifted on accident due to getting bounced around in my motion rig but again it happens very rarely so I consider it a non-issue. :)
i purchased this shifter and my goodness is it pretty bad. the shifter feel is great but the build quality is shocking, mine was squeeking so bad out of the box so i opened the top and seen it wasnt greased nearly enough where it needed to be so i took it apart and greased it up, then half a day later the screw at the bottom of the handle inside fell out and jammed into the mechanism, again i opened it up and put that screw back in but if you put it in tight then the mechanism does not return properly between shifts so its actually designed to be loose but with no thread lock applied it works its way looser and looser until it just falls out and jams up the shifter so after the second time of it falling out i put a bit of thread locker on it and put it in almost all the way but not fully so time will tell if the thread lock will prevent it working its way out. Then just to make things worse the shifter stopped shifting at the correct time, it would shift too early before the clunk of the mechanism so after a full day almost of trying to figure out what is going on i noticed one of the microswitches was not in the best position by a few mm so i had to move it around slightly without breaking the solder and now it shifts exactly when i want it to... i mean this thing is shocking, but thankfully pretty user serviceable, i had it 2 days up to that point, i should have sent it back but i knew i could fix the issues, but my gosh, never again for simagic from me, i tried to post about the issues on the official simagic facebook page just to see if its common or not and should i just exchange it for another and the admins there just refused to put the post up lol should have known better with what we know about this company and their actions online, terrible. i still have the shifter because its now working (3rd day lol) but waiting to see if that screw comes out again and its going back never to have me as a customer again.
@@DouglasThompson there is a screw at the very bottom of the lever that basically keeps the metal lever that engages the metal rotation mechanism and keeps it attached to the handle, if that screw is too tight the metal lever does not move up and down smoothly as it shifts and will kind of bind up so you have to keep that screw loose but without thread lock it slowly works it’s way out, well mine did anyway. I went back and watched your original q1 review and there is a point in which you mention a loose screw inside you noticed, I wonder if that is the same screw, I don’t know because I only have this Q1S version.
