Your shovel magnet is not working because it's been shielded by ferrous handle of that shovel. Generally, you want both poles of the magnet to be exposed for maximum efficiency. Wild idea: before your hunting session, just comb the picnic area with a magnetic sweeper (the one with wheels). They're fairly cheap (usually run $20-50) and pick up surface stuff you won't usually see with naked eye, including nails and bobby pins.
Again you enlighten me!!!! Just makes perfect sense!!! Spend your time clearing out high traffic areas...if they've been used heavily in the past and are obviously still being used heavily by the amount of fresh drops it's well worth spending the time to completely clear everything out no matter how monotonous it seems in the beginning 😃 thanks Dude!!! This video compares to your "midtone" video as being one of the best and most informative video I've ever seen!!!
@@PaystreakSuperfreak I mistaken being thorough the first time through as being done! Revisiting a site didn't fill me with the same excitement as hitting one for the first time so there are places I've only ever been to once, after your midtone video I did begin to dig the midtones (albeit sometimes lazily in the heat) bit getting my hand on this new legend and finally beginning to understand it (I havnt been able to get out much recently due to having major surgery removing a large section of my bowel/colon due to a spot of colon cancer) it has opened up all of the ground I've previously gone over with a renewed sense of enthusiasm and optimism...thanks for everything you do mate your a fountain of knowledge for someone like me who's only been detecting for a couple of years 🙂👍⛏ BTW....please check out the link I sent you regarding the groundhog digger probably on another video...it may help you out a lot especially in the drier months 🙂👍
Although probably difficult to carry out to the location but I was thinking about one of them job site magnetic roller just to sweep over. I have campsites that I can actually pull up to that it would be a great idea 🤔
this man speaks true, I'm the "homemade" detectors guy, that I like to build and use.. but with my tesoro silver (cheap detector) I had sometimes better results than people with "bigger machines", just because I dig nearly everything and trashy areas are the most valuables... no trash mean no people and no people means no valuables !!
Depending upon location most detectorist's pick rubbish as they go, but deliberately going and picking up that amount of stuff deliberately dropped by dirty people just to find a few coins. Well I have to hand it to you, not many would be that extreme. May you find that bit of jewellery as you deserve it.
I made this video last year. We found 2 silver rings, 1 gold ring and 8 other rings in that same area this year. We spent many many hours just clearing out the junk to get the good stuff. It is fun!!
Both machines perform well. I really prefer the smooth tones of the Nox but the Nox has horrible build quality and has high maintenance costs. The Nox is a more user friendly and has a better screen layout.
It's funny, today I dug out 3 of the old type pull tabs(none broke!) at a spot I've found that I think might be good for finding old silver coins, though sadly no coins today.

My magnet was just too small an not mounted in the right spot.
If pigs would stop littering, he wouldn't have to pick them up!
Cracked me up watching the bottle cap fall out of the hole in your trash bag. First minute or so of video.

Trashy spots usually have jewelry. It just takes extracting the trash in layers.

Where can I get a shovel like yours. I watch you beat the crap out of that thing, and it holds up well. I need a new shovel.
He has a video about his shovel - it's called a Phoenix by Predator Tools
Predator is out of stock currently on the Phoenix but you can order one. This shovel is indestructible.
How's the legend compare with the nox now?

What brand hand digger are you using? I'm just getting into hobby.

Predator Tools model 85(O) hand digger.
3:45 picking up trash and losing it again doesn't make it easier 😅
